Hi All,
Last night I updated my X10a to 2.1 generic verison(Had 2.1 Rogers Firmware previously). I thought I would put down the process i followed so that it may help X10a users.
1. Step 1 - I used Exploid tool from this post ,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7490733#post7490733 and downgraded the phone from 2.1 Rogers firmware to 1.6 generic LAM version. In the Exploid tool select option 1 which flashes your phone with the 1.6 Generic LAM version.
2. Step 2 - After the flashing is complete disconnect the USB and power up the phone. Now connect the USB back and start SE PC companion.
3. Step 3 - SEPC detects X10a and it says latest software update available. Just follow the instructions from there and you will get Unbranded generic LAM 2.1 firmware on your x10a.
Hope my post helps.

You need to rename files, but otherwise, yes.
e.g. amss_fs_rachael_S1-SW-LIVE-AC12-0001-S1-PARTITION -> amss_fs.sin
system_S1-SW-LIVE-AC12-0001-S1-PARTITION-WITH-SPARE -> system.sin
etc.

I don't think so. There are two Global Generic firmwares, one for X10i and one for X10a. The one above is the X10a one.
X10a CUST-GEL NAM1 1234-4820 (http://www.multiupload.com/ZGI6JWKIPG)
X10i GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC 1232-9897 (http://www.multiupload.com/9N5BJ7II13)
And of course, here's the Rogers firmware:
X10a ROG-CA NAM1 1233-6929 (http://www.multiupload.com/M048IDMI4L)
I haven't actually downloaded any of these, so I can't be sure that I have the right numbers, but I'm pretty sure they're right.
OK then, sorry, I never heard of this particular version before.
Ok I was not aware that the generic x10a firmware was available. so I posted the steps i did to get the generic one as i do not like the rogers logo on phone
Are the 2 x10a firmwares that are posted the same?
I have a question. Why do you need to downgrade it back to 1.6 first? I flashed 2.1 rogers with generic world 2.1 and it worked fine. No need for extra headache step. There is actually a person who bricked his phone while trying to downgrade lol. So I assume you can easily just flash 2.1 rogers to 2.1 LAM.
Edit: well okay, I guess topic starter wasn't really talking about flashing, my bad but it is a better, easier and faster way to upgrade imho
I actually tried what the topic starter said, but can never pass step 1. Always say wrong deviceid even though I am sure it was correct one.
Is somehow your phone working better on Generic LAM 2.1 on X10a, than Nordic or than Generic UK software?
I wanted to try Generic LAM 2.1 but I really don't know if the process worths it, going to LAM, will work better on network stability (3g/HSDPA), something else?
Thanks all for further info.

The Rogers firmware removes the option to switch between 2G/3.5G.
What does it say on the Service Menu?
I would like to know what it says in the hidden Service Menu, Configuration submenu (the one reached by the L-R combo on the lock screen or the Service Menu apk).
On the 1.6 for AT&T (which should be the same as rogers in this case) it says on the Configuration screen:
Working Band/s:
GSM850, GMS900, GSM1800, GSM1900
UMTS_BS1, UMTS_BS2, UMTS_BS5, UMTS_BS6
Also if you had any issues with APN, Android Market, MM/SMS...... afterwards.

I would have thought so, but will obviously have to wait for the devs to work their magic.
Alternatively you can "unbrand" your phone with a UK 1.6 build and get the UK update when it's out since your phone will then be recognized as a UK device.

That is true, this is the one of the easiest way. I hope we have UK branded ROM ready.
I already mention this on the 2.1 news thread, just to get trolled by two fellow from my one country, miss-read that i was talking about 2.1 release in singapore.. sigh
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8171482#post8171482
Wait, so if the UK is the first country to get the 2.1 update then noone will get Eclair update until the end of November? What happened to the updates starting to roll out at the end of October?
Yes, it's already been stated a million times. If you are on Rogers in Canada the update won't be available until November/December.
Sweden, the UK, and Japan, being their largest market will most likely get 2.1 first imo.
i do have unbranded phone i used north america method . so lets say i put a uk rom in there would it change the frequency of the phone? cuz i wana use the 3g same as at&t
How does the update service know the phone is UK, AUS or whatever? Is the firmware itself embedded with this, or is it determined by the IP address of the network connection its updating from?
Could that Market Access app be used to make it appear like its from the UK? In the version I have it doesnt appear to have any UK providers pre-programmed, anyone know the number to program the SIM to?
On my x10 that I got from at&t I flashed unbranded x10I with no effects to 3g. So that doesn't affect it at all. Phone works great so the uk flash should in theory work.

2.1 related information on the 2.1 thread in the general section....
Right, I'm really confused?
Not with all the flashing, branding, debranding and all that jazz, That's easy. I got my x10 in the UK, On the Orange network.
I've had it ages and didn't really look at the box or under thebattery whether it was an x10a or x10i until recently. On the phone it said the firmware was x10a but when I checked the box etc I noticed it says x10i. It's flashed to x10i firmware now and global generic blah blah blah.
When I first tried SUES I got the not being able to update deal but now I can, I've used it a few times. Anyone any ideas on it and what it's meant to be lol?
The difference between the two are the 3g bands they support. X10a supports att's 3g. X10i supports t-mobile. In the USA at least.

If you followed every step then that's why it ended up as an X10a, and as far as I know SEUS won't run if you've flashed a to i or vice versa.

Hi All,
I've recently purchased an X10 and while its quite a nice phone, I'm sure it would be a hell of a lot nicer if it was running 2.1 - some things which are "missing" in 1.6 have started to annoy me haha.
To this end, it would appear Telstra are about the slowest telco on the planet to release an update. My current firmware is as follows:
X10a
Country: Australia, Brand: Telstra
Phone Software Version: 1227-4612_R2BA023 GENERIC
I understand that if I follow a tutorial such as the "Debrand your Xperia X10 [Tutorial]" on xperiax10.net (google finds it, I'm not allowed to link yet sorry!) and debrand it, SEUS will then automatically update my phone to 2.1 next time I try to update.
Can anyone tell me what is a good X10a firmware for use in Australia? Note that it needs to be X10a since I use an 850MHz "nextg" network. The list on the link above appears to give me a rather limited set of choices, none of which sound generic or australian (what makes latin america latin america??).
If anyone could give me some hints that would be most apprecitated!
Thanks,
Tom

Hi,
Thanks for the advice! I followed the tutorial and updated to 504, then flashed again to .24, however on both of these my bluetooth does not work :-/ Windows 7 shows nothing in the services menu and the phone seems to pair with devices but never connect. Also the .24 ROM available appears to have been a X10i ROM, this doesn't seem to have mattered though as 850MHz HSDPA still seems to work.
Any thoughts on fixing bluetooth?
I haven't installed the rooted version btw and I'm not quite sure what xrecovery does? Thanks!!
Fixed BT - turns out it didn't like to talk to my MacBookPro on Windows - updating Boot Camp drivers to 3.2 fixed that.
As for xrecovery, what does it do? And how does one root 0.24?
