Animation Speed - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Can someone please instruct me on how to speed up the system animations. (using stock launcher)

+1 for spare parts
Sent from my pocket rocket!

Through the regular settings menu I adjusted the Animations to "No animation". As much as I love the animations on pretty much any phone/rom I've ever had, I'm running the Stock 2.2 release and it's whippy as hell if you just turn off the animations! Haha, it's odd but nothing too much you really miss. Stuff actually kinda pops up quicker, which a cool tweak I've never thought to try before.
+1 Spare parts, awesome app

Thanks guys that did the trick! Any other quick tricks I should do?

Paid app called system animation has a slider to speed up system/anis.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.

gingerbread crt screen off animation on ANY build

theres people asking for this....and i don't think people should flash a non stable rom just for this animation....so here:
screen off and lock
doesn't use lock button, but you can remap long press of search button (i don't use google voice actions that much) to lock the screen with an animation.
hope this helps some people
oh....and if you're rooted (which most people on here are) you can pull the xml animation file and rename it lock_screen_enter.xml or lock_screen_behind_enter.xml, then push it to your frameworkres.apk/anim, it will be your animation for unlocking your phone. it's ultra fast and fits perfectly with the unlock sounds.
i'd include a video, but i dont have a digital camera....
Hmm, Im going to wait to see if someone tries this. Could be pretty epic.
Hmm I was under the impression that the frameworks prior to ginger bread had no support for that kind of animation.
Might when I get home, I really do like the tv animation
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
I guess pre-gingerbread, the sdk doesn't call for an xml when hitting the power/lock button. So that's why I use the feature to remap long pressing the search button.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
doesn't give me screen off animation like in gingerbread on my Vibrant..... uninstalled.....
You guys have to configure it first, you know..... Look in your apps for "configure screen off and unlock" it's not that difficult.

I'm using a vibrant too....and it doesn't require root....so whoever can't make it happen: you're doing it wrong

Thanks for quick responcse, but also I'm not dumb. I've configured it and still nothing.

alright, sorry , it sounded like ya think i'm a moron. I tried 2 times, reinstalled, restarted, and still no Gingerbread style tv off animation. There seems to be a slightly different animation when putting phone to sleep when I set it to "old style TV", but def not gingerbread , not even close.
So I guess I'm must be doing something VERY wrong with the simple instructions and setttings... IDK man. Not sure what to say,
Thanks for the app, unfortunately tho it does not give that GB style tv off animation
EDIT: yes I have all animations turned on, always do
I figure it's close enough for those who really wanted the animation like me. And it works in landscape. So that's a plus to me.
I just wasn't down to install an unstable gb build for this animation.

I'm not bashing at all. Just reporting back from my use of the app. NONE of the animations I select work , so maybe it is the ROM I'm using. IDK.
Ty anyways
That's weird man. Sorry it's not working for ya. What rom are you using? I'm using original bionix v.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Working very well, thanks man! Are there any ways to speed/slow down the animation?
EDIT: Can you also elaborate on unlock animation? Does this mean when we hit the power button the screen will turn on that way in reverse? I'd like to get that going, but would I have to know how to edit and recompile an apk? I've never really messed with xml files.
I mean the transition from your lock screen to your home screen/open app.

can we do this using root explorer?
What I do is take this app from data/app and bring it to my computer, and extract scale_old_tv.xml, and rename it to lock_screen_exit.xml and take your framework, and drop it into framework/res/anim

Why the phone is so damn slow?

Hi
Im just wondering...how come such a powerfull phone
Cannot "multi task" with live wallpaper..
When i put LWP the phone become very slow and laggy.
I have here galaxy s and he doing fine with heavy multi task and LWP
As well.
Even with another launchers the problem remains.
does anyone else having the same problem?
Sent from my laggy MB855 using XDA App
Nope, I run an lwp ..several ones actually. I jump between xda, twitter, facebook, gplus, gmail, corp email and browser all day long and don't have any issues with slow downs. In fact the only time I have ever seen this phone slow down is with the keyboard on occasion in landscape mode.
What lwp are you using. Could just be a crappy coder.

same...the phone become slow when put an Live wallpaper
using stock rom 154_6 rooted.
used the Memory optimization tools but no go...
I have the same issues. I just don't run a lwp any more. I use launcher pro and when.I.open.the app drawer with a lwp, its pretty bad. Same on go launcher.

I noticed this on my EVO 3d as well but not on my nexus s. So I'm assuming it has to do with the memory hog called sense and blur.

Either the people in this thread don't know what silky smooth is or their phones are better than ours for some reason. But the display at the sprint store dis the same thing. The stock launcher is already laggy as hell so a lwp makes it non issue on stock launcher. But on any other launcher, there are issues.
My EVO 3d was the same way. Pure vanilla phones seem to do better with lwp...like the LG g2x and nexus s
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
And this happens with the stock lwp
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I'm running launcher pro, stock rom, rooted with some build.prop tweaks and I have the same laggy opening of the app drawer. I never contributed it to lwp. After a quick test its only laggy with lwp as the op said. Its not terrible but its not silky smooth either. Everything else is fine.

Here's a tip: STOP USING LIVE WALLPAPERS THEY KILL YOUR BATTERY. Also LWP shouldnt slow your phone down if anything it should be faster since lwp keep your cpu clock speed a bit higher.

Anything that requires resources and CPU cycles should slow things down. Albeit how much depends on many factors. Video based apps like live wallpaper especially could be resource intensive.

Dont you mean lower? Higher, in theory, would make it slower because it needs that power to multi-task for whatever reason? But then again, some of my servers run well over 200% and no one complains? Oh well............

I mean live wallpapers keep the cpu active, you fire up the screen so its already faster than the phone with regular wallpaper because it needs to continuously keep the lwp going? Idk maybe im seeing this wrong......seems like the phone using lwp should be more responsive and able to multitask over the phone with regular wallpaper since the cores have to fire up upon the screen wake.

Enable Software Buttons for ICS Passion v10.6 (1-8-2012) Version 0.1

Disclaimer:
Currently this is not fully tested and could cause instability and crashes.
***USE AT YOUR OWN RISK***
Do not use with any other ROM besides neobuddy89's ICS Passion Version 10.6
This mod adds the onscreen software buttons for neobuddy89's ICS Passion ROM version 10.6 found here
This is based on evilisto's guide found here
What this Mod Does:
Adds onscreen buttons like you would normally find on phones and tablets which have no physical buttons.
This mod adds home, back and recent app buttons at the bottom of the screen (or on the right side in landscape mode)
Why would you want this?
1. because you can.
2. ever been in low light conditions, using your screen filter app to dim your screen nice and comfortably low when BAM your blinded because you hit the back button?
3. it looks neat.
Instructions:
1. backup everything in case you need to revert.
2. its a good idea to make a backup of your current framework-res.apk (found in system/framework)
3. disable your lockscreen (this is a current bug I hope to fix soon)
4. download the attached framework-res.apk
5. either use adb or a root file browser to replace the current framework-res.apk with the new one.
6. reboot (if you've done this through a file browser on the phone it will likely do this by itself)
6. enjoy
Current Known Issues:
1. The lockscreen becomes extra large and the locking mechanism is displayed slightly off screen. (you can still use it but it is very difficult to get the lock to catch)
2. the settings menu looks different, some of the text is not formatted correctly.
3. the keyboard overlaps slightly. (it is still usable but you might hit a soft button occasionally when going for the space bar)
4. this appears to take away the additional items on the reboot menu.
5. more of a downside than an actual bug and its likely implied but this takes up an extra little bit of your screen.
6. It made me re-sign in to google I cant say this will happen to everyone.
7. probably quite a few more bugs I haven't found yet.
Please feel free to let me know of any additional bugs you find.
Special thanks to Neobuddy for an awesome ROM
and of course to evilisto for the Idea.

Changing the screen density would work but it also causes some app compatibility issues.
Mostly small issues like the apps not filling the screen.
But I am hoping to find a workaround that does not require this.
Of course if your already changing screen density then this shouldn't be a problem for you anyways
I'll play around with it and update the op with the correct density for those who want to go that route for now.
Thanks for the feedback guys.

Change density + market enabler = problem solved??
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
The market actually works it just makes you sign back in once after installing the mod.
And I'm not entirely convinced it wasn't just a fluke.
I've been playing with LCD density changer from the market and it doesn't seem to be changing the home screen for me randomly.
It does make the keyboard a bit smaller but pushes it to the left.
I'm still playing with it though.
Hopefully I'll find a good setting
Does anyone use a density changer on ics?
If so which app do you use?

Yeah I don't want to just flash this and be like ehhhh and then revert it... I want to be able to have a switch to turn it on and off, that'd be great, but its a bit hard to implement i would guess.
I'm still working on it but progress is slow during the week because of work. And my sister is getting married this weekend.
I expect to work on it a lot more next weekend. Although with any luck I'll get something working sooner.
Basically I've found that enabling the soft buttons seems to enable all tablet oriented options even when they are specifically set to off.
I'm currently trying to find a workaround for that.
I did find a couple other fun but mildly pointless options as well like allowing the lock screen to rotate.
Or disabling the screen turning on when plugging or unplugging the phone.
But I'll play with those a bit after I get the soft buttons fully working.

I came across after a post somewhere here, and it is a ripper. It gives massively more customisation than anything I've seen to date. Effectively you can even set things almost to the pixel, and set every attribute of it. I say things, because you can add may things.
Now that I have freed myself from app launching woes in each launcher by using a combination of WaveLauncher and FolderOrganizer, I can swap launchers at will. I no longer need to mess with app groups in each one, and can customise widgets alone. This one will be one of my all-time faves, I can tell.
I look forward to it progressing. I already have a few suggestions!
I haven't tried this launcher yet, but I also have use both wave/folders together. I find it much more efficient Anne completely frees up my screens.

Smoother transitions?

If you all haven't already noticed, T-mobile changed something in regards to window transitions,( such as opening and closing an app) And they're extremely fast and choppy. Is there any way to change the animation speed to that of stock jellybean?
I've tried lowering them in developer options, but windows still open too fast and somewhat choppy. I've also tried changing the launcher and it didn't help either.
I know it's not that the phone is to slow or anything as some app windows open and close as if they would on stock jellybean (Like settings and opening a notification from the panel)
As long as you are rooted, try Framework tool. I modded mine and the animations are perfect for me.

Can you tell me what settings you used?
I used slide animations and changed the toast notifications. YMMV. I also changed the animation speed to .5 in developer's options.
A little tip: clear your dalvic and cache when you make changes. This prevents the stock ui from giving you warnings when you boot up.
Keep a backup in case you don't like the changes.
