[Q] Help ! phone switched off - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently put HSPL 2.08 on my HD2 and then put Energy rom and updated the radio to 2.07.50.27 at first and then to 2.10.50.28 ,all was fine till yesterday when it just locked up and I couldnt get my phone to work.. I ended up reverting to downloading a stock rom 1.43.70124..But my phone isnt recognising my sim as being present and the phone is locked ..there are no ISP settings present, and I cant receive any settings from my provider [02.ie] for obvious reasons.I can get WI Fi to switch on but the phone will not ...I then tried a task 29 because I thought there might be remnants of the other rom left behind but the HD" is slow to switch on,Hangs on HTC Sense and just switches off by itself.Have I made a mess of it ?Please help

check the battery pins, and remove the sd card whilst you are testing.

Checked battery pins; ok. Have SD removed, no difference noted phone is switched off in Comm Manager and will not turn on, switches to airplane mode .

sim working ok in another phone? is it an old sim? (and,,,, ive seen this more than once,,,, you arent forcing the sim in the wrong way are you?)

I tried the sim from my sons phone and it works ok..must be a fault with the sim card..may go and have it replaced.

[q] no network no IMEI no baseband

Galaxy S II has no Network upon further inspection the phone doesn't display the Imei, bluetooth, wifi mac address.
Its not in flight mode, I restored to factory settings, tried couple of sims as well.
Is it a software issue or hardware issue??
Is likely flight mode. Press power button long and try the option flight mode or data connection.

Get a replacement if its under warranty...you dont know what else will go wrong with a device that comes defective right from the start...

Yea, this is the exact thing thats happened to me (Indian version).
Fresh out of the box phone, worked fine for the last 3-4 days.
Now I'm out on a vacation, and the network selection on roaming was flaky, I was toggling the network selection manually/automatically a few times to get some network, and the next thing I know I no longer have a IMEI (shows unknown) , and the same for baseband ( shows unknown) .
Tried factory resetting , etc, not helping. Will get back home and have the phone repaired/replaced.

This airplane mode sounds dangerous. Unfortunately it may be a necessity when you are travelling etc. Hope there is a known fix or one comes out soon. Until then I will keep my /efs partition backup in 3-datacenter redundant storage place along with my laptop and ext.hdd.
i just recieved an sgs2 in uk and it has this exact problem out of the box.
grrr
if anyone wants to point me to a stock rom for it i'll try flashing it
erm, i dont think flashing will help here.
I reckon that missing IMEI means the /efs partition has been wiped out/corrupted, and that is something which cannot be restored by a simple flash.
finally, after almost 12 days, lots of running around, I finally got my S2 working again.
The service center had to send the phone to their head office since they hadnt received any service info on the new model till then.
They changed the PBA apparently , and finally reflashed it and gave it to me.
They claimed that the flashing was an online process and samsung india service servers were down for nearly 2-3 days, accounting for the additional delay.
Just like my I9000, but I dont think it is the same problem and same way to solve.
I rooted the devise and deleted the nv_date.bin and the nv_data.md5 in EFS file with Root Explorer, and renamed the .nv_data.bak into nv_data.bin, then restart, problem solved
I have exactly the same problem as you guys are talking about. Really weird. The /efs directory, where is it located? Is it located in the main "Root" or is it in a specific folder? I would like to try the thing with the rename trick?

Weird Problem, Sim card reseting my phone

I am having problems with my phone because when i boot my phone it turns on normally, but then resets for no reason. it only happens when the SIM card is inserted, but if i enable airplane mode or remove the sim card (turn on with airplane mode turned off) then it runs just fine.
i read somewhere that it might be a baseband problem but since i have hboot 1.53 version S-on i cant update a new one.
any help would be appreciated. thanks

Try another SIM card. If it works fine, you need new SIM, if it does it again, your SIM slot is broken

[Z7 Mini] No service/emergency calls only after flashing custom 6.0.1. rom

So, I've had a lot of problems with my phone lately, including a semi-brick for a while. After all this mess, I had to do re-partition, fix WiFi and stuff like that.
Recently, my only problem was no service after inserting SIM card in CM12 (basic stock ROM using Nubia Tools, repartition using official 2.03 ROM from NeedRom & finally CM12 for Nubia Z7 Mini from NeedRom). SIM card was fine but there was no service, I've tried re-inserting it, I've tried different SIM cards etc.
The issue went like this: phone crashed and "turned off" after inserting SIM card. It wasn't really off - Windows was detecting it as several storage disks (?), and it was heating up after a while. Long press of a Power Button made it reboot to system and it was running fine, but only without SIM card. SIM card made it freeze, heat up and the issue was happening all over again.
Currently, I've tried to fix that by flashing latest Resurrection Remix. Now, phone is stuck at "emergency calls only" - it tries to find service but without any luck. I've read that it might be an issue with bootloader - that there is some script that is trying to run, making it unable for the SIM card to grab service. The phone is really heating up with SIM card in it, but it definitely detects it and it tries to find service without any luck.
Maybe flashing only modem would do? But I can't find it anywhere.
What can I do to fix it? IMEI numbers are fine, on their right place.

no service / emergency calls

Hey guys,
since one week my phone doesn't connect to my mobile provider anymore, it says emergency calls all the time. When I restart my phone it requires the pin to unlock it - so my phone detects the SIM also the strength of the signal changes and I can also search for other providers but I can't connect to any of them. I've checked the SIM Card in another phone without problems. I did a reset of the connection settings but without any success.
It's making me crazy because im travelling right now and my mobile is pretty useless also I don't have a PC with me to reflash the ROM...
TWRP is flashed and the phone runs with Fulmics Rom 3.5
edit: after updating to Fulmics Rom 4.0 the mobile connection worked for a few hours but now it's the same problem again. I did a clean flash with a factory reset...
The Problem is resolved for OP. However, we are keeping it open just in case someone else runs into the same problem and wishes to discuss their issue.

You may have changed telephony bands to some incompatible value. Maybe you can sort it out flashing from Qualcomm recovery mode. There are many tutorials here which explain how to do it and what you need to download. Meanwhile, try posting here a screenshot of the settings you may have changed, to see if other can find what you did wrong. Do you remember changing anything?
dial that again (*#*#4636#*#*) and scroll down until you find the turn on radio (or off)
there is a dropping list, open and select Unknown.
Then when you finish, make sure that the button says turn off radio ( if it says turn on then press it)
Finally try to select USA band
