Guys,
thank you very much for your reply.
However none of this actually solves my problem.
I tried Wisbar, but it does NOT hide any of the icons that I want to hide.
Also, the thread mentioned does not say anything about HIDING the three icons, only about changing their look.
Am I wrong in my judgement?
Cheers
i think you are wrong, because if you know how to change an icon, you can change it to an one transparent pixel icon... if im wrong, would someone please correct my assumption; i only changed the start icon of my taskbar, but i think you can take an icon in the colour of your taskbar background, so it would be "invisible" ... am i wrong??

P.S. im also sure, that you can hide the icons with wisbar advanced eventally with the "wisbar advanced desktop" called variant that i used 2 years ago under WM2003, but its not easy to configure i remember

you are right about making icons transparent, but this does not solve my problem. I need MORE space on the taskbar, (the icon that displays number 1 is really annoying and USELESS, it serves for NOTHING at all). If I make the icons transparent, I will not see them, but they still will be there ocupying the precious space that I would use for somethibg else.
I tried the wisebar and I like it, (it is similar to Qmenu I am using), but again, it does not allow me to get rid of the annoying icons.
Am I doing something wrong? well, I am doing a LOT of thimgs wrong, but I mean in this case ...
Ok, now i see your problem, but im afraid, cant help you, but im still sure, that its possible to solve ...

I know for sure that wisbar advance does allow what you are talking about (but I'm not sure what the number one is though as I don't have that item on my taskbar). Make sure you aren't using the lite version. I dont have wisbar install right now so I cant remember exactly how to change it, but I know if can be done because I wanted the almost the exact some configuration as you and was only able to get it via that program. Play around with it some more and if you stilll cant find it let me know and I'll check it later when I have time.
Have you searched for reg edits? I know you can remove the battery. Notifications are a bit harder though. I'm pretty sure Wisbar advanced lets you customize what icons are present, but Wisbar basically just covers up the taskbar with an overlay.
What do you need all this "extra" room for? If you edit the phcanOverbmp.dll you can delete the icons, leaving only the ones you want. It won't "remove" the icons but would make them invisible so it appears to just be 1 long bar.
I dunno, but I can't figure out what you need all this extra "space" for. It appears that's gonna be your best and fastest solution without requiring a 3rd party app to always run in the background and having to deal with the overlay of Wisbar.
its easy,
All I want to have is on the taskbar ALLTHE TIME:
TIME, BAttery and notification, but the two marked icons (ASL and Edge) prevent me from viewing the rest ofd the icons.
I just finished testing with Wisbar that unfortunatelly does not allow this. These two stupid icons that are no use for me, cannot be removed with Wisbar (latest version).
I would search the registry but where... And... I do not want to get rid of battery and time....
Same problem
Hi, I just want to remove the number 1 on the task bar. I have just installed the onyx ultimate 4.2.1 and it appeared after I turned on the cellular on the comm manager. The number 1 referrs to the phone line 1. It really annoying to se it there.
please help someone!!!
Hello. Also same problem. Also using the HTC Touch Pro (right forum, right? Pretty sure.)
This is whats on my Elite ROMS system bar:
I would like to get rid of the big H icon. It goes ot the same thing the H(with signal bars) does! And I would be able to see the entire programs name if it were removed. That, or at least my notifications wouldn't be grouped into the "Talk bubble" icon. I hate when that happens. Three friggin clicks to dismiss an alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any idea? [subscribed]
Thank you for bringing this up because I use OzIM and nothing drives me more insane than not realizing I have a missed call because of the multiple notification bubble. I would be happy just to see signal strength, and thats it. I use a battery bar at the top of the screen so that battery status can go away. I hope someone finds a solution I would life to know as well.
Why not just edit the DLL files where the icons are stored...that should do the trick.
Use reshacker to edit the dll files..
what ddl files are they stored in?
Wont that only make the invisible (vs GONE). I.e. the goal is to recover the space they are inhabiting and slide the others over towards the right.
Removing the image will only "blank" out the space, not slide the others to the right.

use icon size 1 pixel width...make transparent.
They are stored in shellres.192.dll and phcanOverbmp.dll...maybe some other places too but the majority should be there.
ok ... I'm pretty sure this isnt gonna work based on the pervious comments in this thread.
But I wont know til I try. So off I go to try....
Found the shellres.192.dll file .. but if I try to copy it off the device via activesync, windws wnt let me. What gives???
How do I get it off my phone?!
Here are some linkks to registry "tweaks" for some of the icons displayed in the Taskbar:

HTH,
Hey guys,
I have the HD2, 172 WWE ROM.
I tried using HDWall app to create new slider icons. Nothing worked.
Does nayone have an app that can create slider?
If not, who wants to make one for me? I can give you all the icons, you create a cab?
I am pretty desperate as I have a couple I want to make that I love.
Thanks to any volunteers or helpers.
You can use a program called CFC_GUI to view and edit any manila graphic.
Thanks for responding.
I downloaded this but couldn't get it to work.
I selected the slider icon I wanted to change (to test) and selected replace with, the click on the icon I want. It runs through (stops sense) and just says 'fail'.
Also, I thought the slider icons were 64x64, and the larger icons 128 x 128.
This app shows them as 256 x 256.
Do you know what the correct size is for the sliders and the larger ones?
Well you will first want to make a folder some where. Connect your phone and put it into sync. From there open CFC_GUI >Device>Import from device. This will import your manila graphic files. Now you will want to go through these files and find all the files that pertain to the slider icons, quick hint there are a lot of them. Depending on the ROM there can be anything from 3 to 4 of them for each tab. Most will range in 64 while one will be 256. The 64's are for the actual tabs and also the customization setup pictures(for selecting the order of the tabs) in settings for the phone. While the 256 is for the big main graphic that is centered in the phones screen when it's slide over or selected. You will have to do more then just replace the files. When you select each file you want "save as" this while save it to the folder you open CFC_GUI for the first time. Once you have the actual images saved as a pngs you can then bring these files into a photo editing program. You will find that the size of the picture is not the actual size of the graphic.....sure it might be 64x64 but the actual graphic will be a bit smaller and is usually a bit off center and to the top left. So you take the picture you want (hint use pngs since most don't have backgrounds) to replace it with and paste it over the other picture as a layer. Adjust the picture until it's perfectly over the original layer under it. Once you get it right you can delete the original layer leaving your new graphic. Save the image ,possibly to a new folder but with the same original name. The next time you open CFC_GUI it will open the original files you don't have to plug the phone in yet, the program creates it's own folder and saves the files from when you imported them. Go through and replace the files you want , won't be hard if you keep the original file name when you saved your edited version. Once you replace them all you can close the program. Turn on the phone go to settings and turn off Sense. This option can be skipped because the program should turn off Sense when you go to export but some times it doesn't and messes up. Once synced open CFC_GUI recheck your work then go to
Device>export to device.
Unplug the phone turn Sense back on and they should be there.
Man I don't think I have ever had to write this much directions for this so be thankful I felt like being long winded tonight hope it helps.
Donation to you if you create slider icons set.
Wil,
I sincerely appreciate your reply. I have given it a go and read through your instructions many, many times.
Honestly, this is too hard for a novice like. I don't even know how to use photoshop properly.
I am willing to offer a donation to anyone who is willing to create a slider icon set for me.
I have all the icons, just need someone with the experience.
Anyone? Wil, can you?
Photoshop is not that hard. Just save the graphics like I said earlier. Bring the image into photoshop. Bring the image you want into photoshop. Go Select>all. Edit>copy. Go back to the original file. Edit>paste. It should paste it to a new layer all by itself. If the picture is a bit big or small you should be able to drag it to fit. You can also adjust the ocupancy down a bit to be able to see through it while you adjust. If your confused about the whole layer thing do a video search for Working with Photoshop Layers. There are plenty of them out there. It's a basic if you want to use photoshop the right way.
This should be in the Theme part but try to find the some threats of Dinik. He's a great designer and made even some easy walk throughs about how to make icons and how to replace them on your HD2
*edit*
Dinik Creations
When you look in the threats posted you find easy replacing tools
Stuck on final step.
Hi Wil,
Firstly, sorry for the very late reply. I have been working away collecting the icons I like, and trying to use Photoshop. I have finally figured it out.
I am stuck on the final step I think.
I have created all the icons correcty (to the top and right) based on the layering method you mentioned. Should be fine.
I have then used CFC to 'import' the png's. No problem.
I use CFC to browse the files and I can see the new icons I have imported.
What do I do now?
The files do show up in CFC, but not as slider icons in manila. Whats the final step?
Thank you in advance.
These are the manila fiels names from what I have researched. Please let me know if this is wrong.

i dont know it works for HD2 but i think it will
Thanks Veldmuus. I tried that previously, didn't work. It has completely different file names.
I tried 'export to device. Sense did stop (I saw it stop on my phone) did the export, then restarted sense.
For each fil that it was supposed to export, I just got the error 'fail'. No other info.
Any help?

very nice 50% transparency by sharkie405 here
Great Thanks !
Transparent Top Curtain
Is there a cab that makes the top curtain transparent?
Thanks in advance
here are the manila files, put them in your windows folder. back up the originals first.
I was able to get the bottom curtain transparent by using Sharkie405's Transparent CHT Softkey cab. I tried the manila file from the Transparent curtains zip file but it had no effect. See attached screen shot. I am trying to get the top black bar transparent. Thanks for the assistance.
that's the taskbar not the curtain, its not possible to make it transparent however cht 2.0 has the option to skin it to match your wallpaper....

Only if your running windows 6.5 not 6.5.x so I have been lead to belive.
btw. what is the best method to clear the start menu text. I've try a couple that just crash my phone. (very anoying)
Cheers, Billy
im pretty sure you can skin the taskbar on 6.5.x....
I haven't heard anybody complaining about that yet, and. it would cause some serious complaints lol...
the start menu text in the top left??
its contained in a .dll file which requires a lot of messing around to edit and a different approach depending on your rom.
not a very user friendly tweak im afraid......

Hi thanks for the info on the "Start Text". Guess I'll just keep looking and crashing till I get it.
As for the other Your probably right about skining it in general I was meaning more from using CHT (From Frequently asked questions section)
Q: Why can't I skin my taskbar and softkeybar?
A: This feature is only available on WM6.5
Not trying to show of or anything, Just that bit stuck in memory.
Not Forgetful all the time, just when the wife or the boss is asking difficult questions.

I cant remember which .dll it is but this link..... might come in handy if you decide to go down the route of messing around with the taskbar.......
I dont know what they mean by that Q in the CHT thread, I think that includes 6.5.x because Ive seen screenshots in the today screen thread from ppl on 6.5.x with skinned taskbars very confusing...... lol
to skin the taskbar (aka make it look transparent) is doable.
but it depends on your theme (the one you have checked off in your systems part of your phone.)
you will find the image at:
hkcu\ software\ microsoft\today\taskbar\taskbarthemeimage
it is 36px high.
simply cut off the top 36px of your desired bg pic and change the registry.
haven't found an easier way.
hope this makes sens.
[Q] Is there an EASY way to change font/background color on notification bar & menus?
Does anyone know of an easy way to change the font color of the notification bar &/or menus with a Droid Eris? Many of the themes I've sampled have certain aspects that are hard to read.
I've searched & searched and the only answer I could find, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831715, has a lot of steps & requires editing many files. I don't want to risk screwing something up.
Is there a quick & dirty method, or is this it? I'm still learning!
Thanks in advance!
Using the UOT Kitchen is a fairly easy way to theme certain parts of a ROM the way you want.
UOT Kitchen - How To
It doesn't have options for everything though, so there are still things that you'll either need to find a morph to flash with zipthemer/metamorph or do manually.
One other tool you might want to look at is IDIOT(If Droids Insist On Themes). I haven't used it myself but it looks interesting.
Hi! I'm new into creating themes, and I'm looking for a tool that could make it easier. I know how to extract .apk, how to replace images, modify .xmls, but often I don't know what an image is for. Let's say im modding SystemUI and I want to change background of my notification bar. The only thing I know is that inside drawables folder I have to look for something named notification_bar.png, something like that. I was looking for an app that could tell me how an image inside an app is called in code ( example: I'm inside calculator app, I press on background and the app says that file is called background.png and is inside drawables-xxhdpi). I tried Android Studio --> Layout Inspector, but it didn't help me at all because, well, I just don't understand it.
Of course, while modifying SystemUI I can look for explaination of certain pngs on the internet, but
-not every SystemUI is the same
- if I want to change drawables of an app that doesn't have specific explaination I have to know how to identify drawables.
It must be possible somehow, because I've run into some themes that modify external apps (like WhatsApp, SuperSU etc.)
Those ppl had to know what certain .png is for, the question is: How?
I don't believe they just had to sit there and try every possible combination.
Also, inside SystemUI there's A LOT of files that are never used, and their names can be misleading.
Is there any way to identify drawable inside running app easily? Without digging in code and guessing?
Thanks in advance for any answer
I tried to analyze Mms.apk (it's system app). I was looking for a drawable representing default contact icon, here called ic_contact_picture.png .
I actually managed to find a proper layer in Layout Inspector(ConversationListItem.xml), analyzed it and found a code referring to table "id" in resources.arsc . The object the id referred to was called "avatar". And that's it. I couldn't find id(I got it from resources.arsc/drawables) of ic_contact_picture.png anywhere in that layout. There was only id referring to "id/avatar". It doesn't make any sense.
How do I find drawables using Layout Inspector or any other tool?
It was easier when it came to text. I also found an id referring to resources.arsc/id, but that id was included in the layer I was looking at (ConversationListItem.xml).
But I still wasn't able to perform any action on that text, because there wasn't any setting like text color or anything, there was just a line android:textAppearance="@attr/0x1010041"
It is an attrib from framework-res.apk, but when I opened framework-res.apk and found that attrib there was no reference to anything like color, font, so there was nothing I could really do.
Can someone help me with those 2 problems?
