[Q] Wich is better? X10 or x10 mini pro? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi everybody!
I haven't found any topic about this, so i will open the same topic in this section and in the normal x10 section.
Which one do you find more useful? I'm about to buy one of these...

X10 mini pro VS X10
I find very useful the mini pro keyboard because I play on phones a lot, so emulators and other games would be easier to play with a kleyboard.
The high res of the normal x10 is WAY better than the mini's one, very useful for web browsing and full access to all android apps.
I use the phone for work, I recieve calls wich i have to take note of them, so wich is better? The onscreen keyboad (x10) or the HW keyboard (mini pro)?
Obviously the camera, screen and CPU power is better on the X10, but is the power and resolution loss worth the mini's HW keyboard?
Thanks for reading!

x10 vs x10 mini pro
The x10 has superior specs to the mini pro but I believe the mini pro is much much better value for your hard earned cash. The x10 under-delivers for the price tag.
It all depends on what you want...no one can really decide for you.
For me, I break it down like this:
Screen: I am not a fan of the 4 inch screens (they make phones too big in this day and age). I think somewhere b/w 3 and 3.5 inches is ideal for phones. On the other hand, the low res of the mini pro posses problems with app compatibility and is too small for a smart phone. Also the mini pro has full 32 bit colour while the x10 is on 16 bit colour(16m vs 65k)
Performance: It is widely acknowledged that the mini pro is a better performer.
Hardware keyboard vs on-screen qwerty: I myself prefer to have a physical keyboard but that's just my preference.
Camera: Since cameras are a complimentary feature of phones and not dedicated or fundamental, I think I prefer the 5mp camera with flash on the mini pro to the one on the x10 even if it has 720p hd video as that's just another gimmick with very little usability considering the amount of space needed to store hd videos.
All in all I would not recommend the x10 even to my worst enemy cos like I said earlier, the phone seriously under-delivers for the price tag. I would recommend you wait for the first gingerbread phones to reveal themselves before you make your choice for a new phone but if you insist on one of these, then go with the mini pro. You will get far more for your money with that.

theres only one way to find out.....FIGHT!!!!!

Mini Pro IMO... thats all I'm saying

Hey guys, im thinking of getting a LG Optimus One(p500), is it worth the money? (170 euros over here), does it slow down, is the camera good, etc? or should i get something else?
It's generally decent for the price, there's plenty of roms in the development section for it, the camera is USELESS in the dark though. everything else works perfectly though.
However, there's a few issue you have to take note of.Even though it's froyo aka Android 2.2, because of the hardware, it does not support Adobe Flash Player. And there is a bug in this phone and that is when you touch the screen when playing games or doing anything else, the frames will drop and the phone will lag. It's a touch screen bug I believe.Just hope that Android 2.3 will take care of this problem.Take note of all those things.
Its a great device for the price I bought it in Germany for 242€ on Amazon.
It does have some software issues.
On the Hardware side the device is pretty good.
The Screen is a LCD screen compared to the OLED of the i5700 it doesnt have any pixel problems.
The camera is more then enough for making pictures except in the dark I think even an LED Light wouldn't make so much differences. And who is making pictures late at night? Outside even and LED light wouldnt make a difference.
On new year I will try to make some pictures with it. ^_^
The device does have enough RAM and besides the software-issues its a great device.
I'm sure LG will fix this for their most successful android smartphone.
And we will get Gingerbread...
My first post in here... well...
im using this phone since 2nd December ... i bought it at 205euros [device only, unbranded etc etc...] with car charger + windshield stand.
I previously had an iPhone 3G and sold it because i got bored with that... so actually that's my 1st android device.
For the ammount of money i've spent ... the accesories i got along + a bluetooth stereo that i use for music, i have to say that it's the best phone i've seen!
I've been searching the market after selling my iphone for a new one with android [2.2froyo from the box!] with a price around 200euros and that's the only one i found!
This phone is a bargain and for me the only disadvantage is the Screen lag when being touched [software problem, may be fixed on gingerbread] and the fact that it doesnt have v7 processor so it doesnt support flash [no big deal but... :/]

[Q] Why did you get mini or the mini pro?

Hey
I really like to ask all people, why did you buy the mini pro and not mini, and also the same q for why did you get the mini and not mini pro?
I have both but i really cant find out what phone i shall use :-/
The mini pro is obviously better for texting.
I wanted to buy a powerful phone with a qwertz keyboard AND the ability to play all my emulator stuff.
So yea, this phone is perfect for me Coming from a LG Optimus speed
coming from blackberry, choice was easy. if i was going to sacrifice screen size (3" vs all the other 4"+ Androids) i would need a physical keyboard to type.
I sed to have a Nokia N95 8GB for 3 years. It was time to buy a new phone.
I decided to buy a xperia mini (st15i) because it is a brand new android phone, a powerful one (1GHz, adreno GPU, 512 ram,...) in a small case. I didn't want a "brick" like a samsung galaxy s or lg maximo black.
Xperia mini is small, lightweight, beautiful and everything (almost) runs smoothly, just as I wanted. I bought xperia mini and not xperia mini pro because mini pro costs more 60 euros, it is almost 50% heavier and I possibly I would not use the query keyboard. I prefer to use xperia mini virtual numeric keypad.
Thanks for all replus, so no one have got a mini pro because it had front camera, only because it had hardware keyboard.....

Yep, haven't used the front camera yet.
I actually wanted a small phone with a powerful processor (snapdragon at least), and Mini and Mini Pro are the only ones I could find plus I really like the corner interface (I might have bought the Ray otherwise)
Plus the mini pro was dirt cheap when I got it. 169€ (after rebate which I still have to send in, to be honest), same price as the regular mini.
The hardware keyboard is really enjoyable to work with; I'm a lot faster on it than I was on even the best touchscreen keyboard I tried.
The front camera is cool for sure. Just take it as an extra gadget
Yes front cam is nice, I think I sell my mini and use my mini pro
Sent from my SK17i using Tapatalk
ya , u guy all right hehe , The reason i bought mini pro is it come with lastest gingerbreak ( when i buy it ) , Snapdragon CPU , Bravia , Facebook inside xperia and many more ! Therefore I can say it is my best phone ever

Actually I haven't noticed Mini Pro has front camera until I read this thread although before buying it I had looked through the specs for so many time to decide
Even though it has cricket noise, I still so much love this little (cute) thing
Buy Ray or Mini. I did. You will be cool. Just like me.
mini -> size + looks +battery life. Sliding out a keyboard looks nerdy -you dont want that.. And it def draws more power.. yeah & no bonus cricket onboard.
Ray -> Will be SEs best selling phone. really no contest apart from arcS.
keyboard is crucial imo. otherwise you just have a tiny touchscreen phone.

yeah lol
i bought xperia mini cause didn't wanna hardware keyboard and wanted a full touch one. in case in my country 3G isn't supported i skipped the front camera with no doubt. that's my "WHY"
Well, where I'm living, Mini pro isn't even available. But, even if it was, I'd go for Mini.
It doesn't have electrostatic noise problem.
I don't really type much.
T9 trace (Swype) feature (in 2.3.4) is really cool, I really love it
Mini Pro is just too expensive for my budget.
I haven't used the front camera much, but that was a selling point for me. Also the hardware keyboard, though I do use the screen keyboard most of the time. I guess I wanted all the hardware I could get in such a small package. Graduated from x10 mini pro, which I rooted and installed cyanocomb 2.2 for the apps to sd. No plan on rooting this one yet, I like being able to watch movies on it, even though I usually watch them on my computer.
dave
Needed a proper keyboard as well as big enough screen and I find such combination only in sliders. And in this range with its form factor you cannot find anything better than mini pro.
reason i wan to buy mini pro because it have a keyboard and powerful processor
but 3" is really not enough big......i regard

Why is it not big enough?
I think the screen size of mini/ mini pro is the right size

Xperia S as tablet

Hello.
I was thinking of buying a tablet, but since I bought the xperia s phone, I am thinking if it is possible to use the hdmi out of the phone to a larger, portable monitor and use it as a tablet.
Do you know where i could get a lightweight monitor with capabilities of hdmi in so I can hack it into a diy "tablet".
I am considering to use the display only for output i.e no touch screen, although that would be good.
So basically you're looking for a battery powered TV with HDMI input ? something like this
Well yes,but in not that price range
I am thinking of composing one with various components from tablets, but I don't know how a tablet or laptop monitor can be connected to an hdmi adaptor and work without the use of a motherboard or a graphics card.
I don't see the point of a larger display just to connect to your phone considering that it is possible to get a 9.7" IPS screen dual core android tablet for under US$250.. Check pandawill. Look for the Amlogic -MX chipset or the rockchip RK30XX series.
Heck, they even offer ICS to boot.
I dont think you will be able to find exactly what you are looking for, I but I have an idea for you to consider. The Morotola Atrix has a LapDock accessory. This is basically an 11" screen, a usb keyboard / mouse and a huge battery all rolled into one. Someone on the forum has taken the rear apart and it is basically just a micro USB and micro HDMI cable. He plugged his Xperia in and it just worked. Phone will not charge off the battery while the HDMI is enabled, but everything else is fine.
Now, these devices retail for about £300, but recently 2 retailers in the UK have been selling them for £42 and £48, probably because the Atrix is outdated now.
I very nearly took the plunge myself, but I already have a 14" laptop and an iPad

Something to consider.
BigPhil this is exactly what I was looking for.
Since I don't want to spent much money in buying a Windows tablet now, considering the windows 8 tablet release this year, the Morotola Atrix LapDock would do the job.
Do you have any links for the £42 and £48 UK shops?
Sure, but it looks like both offers have ended.

Worth checking that site periodically
Edit: I have just checked eBay and there are loads £40-£75 on there. Good a place as any to start, perhaps pick up a case at the same time.
Umm... this one ?

How well could you fit an S into the Lapdock? Any S users have one?(Pics pls).
At that price its well worth it.

[Q] Xperia P better than Xperia S

I want to buy a new phone, I was thinking abt getn XS, but wen I saw XP, I was surprised by its look, its awesome design and looks like a polished product.
I want to know opinion of other XS, XP users......
Well in terms of power and storage the obvious answer is no.
Looks wise the P might just have the edge with the aluminum body. Not that much difference in size between the two either but I haven't played with one yet I have just seen a couple of comparison videos.
Cannot comment on the WhiteMagic screen either as I haven't seen a physical device yet. What I can say is the screen on the S is fantastic and makes you feel all warm inside when looking at it.

In my opinion,
S is better hardware wise no.
Design , I personally prefer P. Mainly because of the aluminium body looks and feels more premium and no USB flap. I know many say that the flap isn't that fragile but I just feels so
If you prefer better hardware, go for S, else otherwise.
How I wish S in aluminium + colour changing strip

Think I have under estimated the Xperia P somewhat.
I have been playing with the black version for around 3 hours now and its a little pocket rocket. The design and feel is very satisfying, feels premium. The screen is fantastic, very bright, crisp and clear. Had a test in the sun and set screen brightness to automatic (yes it has automatic or manual control, as well as a power saver option) all text and colours are still very easy to see. You now press the icons on the transparent bar for home, back and settings, back button does not suffer like the S, one tap and responds. I have removed the widgets on the home screens and set basic stuff up that I use and have no lag whilst switching screens, app tray opens almost instantly, apps open in very good time, installing apps seems faster than on my S. In the box is the EP850 fast charger.
This is just a very quick analysis so far and will add more as and when I find more interesting bits. Needless to say I am very tempted to sell my Xperia S and use the P as my daily driver.
EDIT: After using this device for over a day I can truly say it is outstanding. To the point that my Xperia S is being sold and this is now my main device
The Xperia P comes with more notification and ringtones so I have zipped them.

I think Xperia S is the better choice than xperia p
Devices:The One and only!!!
Xperia S
Xperia s
Xperia S would be a better phone.
depends what you looking for..
For me camera and big storage is first thing in my mind, loved satio 12mpx, and wanted android with 12mpx (arc previously)...
Also big screen is one of the required stuff...but i really want aluminium body...
So in the end i say for me that xperia s is better phone

Look very great on the xperia P, could you provide a download link to the wallpaper?

Things look FAR better on the Xperia P. I tried to not bias myself in as many shots as possible by not identifying which phone it was before deciding which was better, and in every single one I found the Xperia to be the superior display.
I do hope they're able to either overcome the size limitation of the white magic displays for LCDs, or at least continue this work on future OLED displays.
Wow. the quality of the xperia p display is unreal. Wish the xperia s came with white magic as well

I have neither phone and stumbled onto this thread by accident so no ax to grind but there are some problems with comparisons of this sort in general and I have trouble accepting the statement as to bias quoted here.
As to the bias: it is impossible for me to not immediately know which phone display I'm looking at simply because the size difference of the image is painfully apparent in each and every instance with that of the Note being significantly larger. Even someone such as my self who "has no ax" can't avoid bias it's built into the human animal and can't be removed except by carefully designed double blind trials where there can be no hint of identity. No one could claim the conditions of the samples here are "double blind" in fact there is zero level of disguising which is which, ergo bias is an unavoidable consequence.
Regarding the comparison itself:No information is given regarding the displayed images. The resolution the original images were shot at is just one example of possible problems with the comparison. If the originals were shot at any other than the native resolution of the particular device in question it could appear distorted when scaled to the non-native display parameters. For example, if it were shot at qHD then blown to HD it would certainly suffer in the translation because the larger display simply can't offer more information than was contained in the original and might simply make any flaws larger and thus more apparent. A multitude of other artifacts could be introduced depending on conditions and even on the display of the screen of the device you are looking at the thread with.
In the image of the Headphones the words on the earpiece are very much clearer on the larger image on my computer screen ditto with the netting in the fruit image. On the other hand the colors and white balance appears to be better on my screen on the smaller images.
Is one better than the other? Very subjective.
Of course it's subjective. That's why we have some people out there who prefer to look of OLED displays to LCD, and vice versa. As for the comparison, yeah there are some pics where the size gives it away, but IIRC there were a couple where the sizes were similar. The pics aren't all loading properly for me now for some reason so I can't identify which one those are, but before making my post I did view the pics on both my tablet, 40" LCD TV and 55" LCD TV and in all cases I prefer the Xperia Ps screen.
