When i connect any PC to my X10 via any USB cable, my phone does not show in the notification bar to mount the sdcard, however the charging LED turns on.
What could cause this?
I suspect, that recently i installed ES Security Manager, run the "Threat Detector", and it showed a suspicious item, that i deleted. I suspect the file was in the sdcard root folder. If anybody could send me that file i would appreciate.
Is there any other solution to fix the connectivity issue?

Such programs are about 95% of the time useless and generally cause more problems than protecting you (performance issues, false positives...).
You can try to format your SD card from your phone, it should do the trick. We won't be able to get your file back as we don't know which one was deleted...
For the program, just do as for any "antivirus" program for Android : trash !

P500 - Other phones
Unable to send files to other phones of any type through the default stock file manager. " x File not sent" error. Bluetooth on, device discoverable, Paired but not connected.
Used ThinkOffice Free and sent files successfully to the same phones without any problem regarding file sizes or file types by using it's file manager. Bluetooth on, device discoverable, Paired but not connected.
Other Phones - P500
If said phones have FTP , they access files easily on P500 and get whatever they need. The other phones are able to send stuff too.
P500-W7 Laptop
Unable to send files from phone to laptop. Laptop can access bluetooth folder and get the files it needs or it can send whatever files it needs to send. All laptops I tried to connect with, I got the same error. "x File not sent" on the same settings.
Summary: Default file manager unable to send files to any device. ThinkOfficeFree File Manager using the same bluetooth settings manages to send files to phones, but not a Win7 Laptop.
Searched the forum for similar threads, and they suggest using an alternate file manager which is what ThinkOfficeFree file manager basically is. But for phone to laptop transfers I might try another file manager to see if it works.
My questions are :
1. Is it natural to have such problems? Even my lowly GM200 sends files without any hiccups. It's Android 2.2 after all not 1.5 >.>
2. Is using an alternate file manager the only solution ? And does it work all the time with any device, laptop or phone?
3. I see many people bugged with the issue, why isn't there a proper fix yet from the devs and manufacturers themselves?
4. Will formatting /erasing the SD card*default that came with the phone*, factory resetting the phone help the cause?

yes these problems do exist in 2.2 but custom rom works well
try using blutooth file transfer and check if it works
no use formatting your sd card
Bluetooth File Transfer works.. Although it's slow on the "searching for service" "connecting to service" front, the rest is for now going on smoothly.
Anyone else having a problem with tablet not showing up on computer after ICS. Updated the tablet with Allinone version 4 without any problem but now i need to shift some pictures onto the computer. When i plug in the tablet nothing happens on either the pc or the tablet. Ive used 2 different cables and used 2 different computers but nothing shows up. Debug is on. As far as im aware this has only happened after the ICS rooted update.
I thought that by transferring the pictures over to the sd card would at least sort that out but now i read and tried that external card is being read as "read only". So cant transfer the pictures to sd card and computer not recognising the tablet, now what?
Any advise?

Your computer not recognizing your tablet sounds like an ADB driver problem, so you may have to reinstall the drivers. Condi's AIO Tweaks and Mods submenu items 12 and 11 will solve your problems with sdcard and sdcard2 write permissions and USB Mass Storage support so your computer can access your tablet's memory. Searching the forum about these problems will provide you with additional information on how to deal with them as they have been discussed several times.
Thanks for the reply. Its been so long since i initially setup the tablet. Correct me if I am wrong but when the tablet is connected to the computer the tablet should show up as sony s tablet, is that when the drivers need to be installed. Ive a shocking memory. Im starting to panic as ive documents that I have done in collage. Without the sd card transfering data to extenal in knackered.
So, if I plug the tablet in and NOTHING shows up either on tablet or pc, does that mean that the drivers need to be reinstalled?

Reinstalling the drivers is what other people have had to do to solve the problem you seem to have. For example, read this thread: ADB Issues after ICS update?
Thanks for your time and effort. I have seen this post when i was searchings for answers. Problem is that NOTHING happens when i plug the sony into the computer. Tablet does not acknowledge that debugging is available through the usb even though it is ticked on the tablet. The computer shows nothing either as the tablet has not got into communicating through usb. So to uninstall the drivers will be impossible until the pc recognises the tablet.

The computer is probably not recognizing or listing the tablet because the device drivers are borked. In Microsoft Windows, you can uninstall unlisted (unrecognized) devices by going into Device Manager, selecting "View" from the standard menu, selecting "Show hidden devices" (which should cause unlisted/unrecognized device names to be listed), then right-clicking on the device's name and selecting "Uninstall". After uninstalling the device, select "Action" from the standard menu, then select "Scan for hardware changes" to cause the computer to detect the tablet and prompt you to install the device drivers.
On my previous Verizon Android phones (Droid X, Thunderbolt, Rezound), once I was rooted, I was able to remove the .iso file in \system\etc that caused the verizon bloatware autorun package to execute every time I plugged the phone into my computer.
On my S4, I have root access, and have granted root access to the file manager app I'm using, but it's still telling me I don't have permission to delete "Autorun.iso" in \system\etc
Anyone know how I can get rid of it?

Ah, I'm an idiot... I forgot to tell ES File Explorer to mount the system directory as writable.
Thanks.
I would like to kill that annoying feature as well. Did deleting that file work? I want my phone straight into mass storage when I connect it to a PC.

Yes and no.
Deleting that file worked perfectly in that the Verizon autorun BS doesn't start every time I plug it in, which is all I was really going for.
Unfortunately, as I've discovered based on another thread in this forum, mass storage mode is pretty much done for. The best I can do is putting it into "MTP" (media device) mode. It seems like MOST of the time, it'll go into MTP mode when I plug it in, but not always - sometimes it'll say "connected as an installer", or switch to that mode after initially being in MTP.
I have yet to find a way to make it go into true mass storage mode (the MTP mode kinda sucks - the transfer rate is slow, getting to the SD directory takes several more clicks, and since Windows is treating it like a media device, file transfers are screwy at best), let alone "charge only" mode, which is all I really want ~95% of the time.

How did you mount it? It still saying i do not have permission
Hello there.
It seems this problem is quite common, from the fist time I plug the device in MTP mode, no alteration I do on the phone using android will reflect on the PC, for example, if I plug the phone for the first time after a boot and delete a file using android, it will still show on PC, it doesn't matter if I refresh the folder or even change the USB port. I have to reboot the phone to get it working again. It seems that when you plug the phone on the PC it creates a 'cache' that never gets refreshed.
I would like to know if there's a way to refresh such 'cache' or other solution to this, perhaps by allowing the phone to be seen as a fully featured mass storage device. My phone is rooted. Perhaps there's even a patch or something. My device is a Moto G Dual, Android 4.3.
I don't want to use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. I recharge my phone on the PC and I would like to also use the connection to transfer files without having to reboot my phone.
If I rename a file for example (using android), so it shows the old name on the PC, it's impossible to access it, even by accessing the exact path (both the old or new) manually.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance.
Hi all,
I'm having trouble with copying files to the phone. When I connect it to my PC via USB The device pops up in explorer, but every time I try to copy something it fails. When I try to copy entire folders (I'm trying to copy Flac and MP3 music) W10 gives an error that it can't copy the files. When I try to copy files, it shows the copying dialog, but nothing ever happens, however long I wait. I've tried debugging mode, uninstalling Kies, Uninstalling the Samsung drivers, installing ADB drivers,... nothing seems to work. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
I've also tried a new USB-C 3.1 cable, to no avail. I'm using the USB 3.0 port. When I try an USB 2.0 port with the USB 3 cable, the phone doesn't show up. Which is weird I guess but maybe due to the nature of USB-C.

I forgot to mention that I tried copying a picture from the phone to my pc, which worked perfectly.
Hello, I know your message was time ago, but I have now exactly the same problem with a Leeco LE 2, also with C-type USB, and searching for some solution I have found your question. ¿Did yoy manage to find the way to fix this problem?
Regards

You probably connected your phone to the PC as Camera(PTP).
When you connect your phone to your PC, the USB symbol should appear at the top of the screen. Swipe your finger from top of the screen down you will see the USB symbol saying USB for charging. Click on it you will see the 3 connection options, pick Media device(MTP) and you should be able to copies files between your PC.
Thank you for your response, but I'm afraid that this was right, I tried it with the MTP mode enabled.
me too i have problem of copy , I can transfer files to the phone, but I can not copy from the smartphone to the pc
MTP and usb debug is actived
i cant recover my TWRP backup
With version of software do you have?
Running 21s build with Server2016 and when I tried to cut the /DCIM/Camera directory frome the LeEco it just deleted it. Ughhhh.
Did you manage to solve this?
I'm in the same situation. I can't copy mp3 files to the internal memory of the device.
