[Q] questions about input method U20i - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hello!
I have some several questions:
1. How I can change language on U20i without use screen? May be somebody knows an application which will use the key combination to change the language?
2. I use swype. When I use hard keyboard, I can use only english language. If I need change language, I need select input method on screen and then change input method to standard keyboard and then after these operations I can write language other than English. How can switch off swype in landscape mode and use only standart keyboard in this mode, but if I change mode I can use swype keyboard again?

This seems to potentially works but you need root access though.

Thank you. The problem solved.

default input method

i have an I-mate smartflip with arabic customization installed on it. when i want to write a new message i always get the arabic language as the default input. does any body know how to set the default to english?
i tried lots of ways like changing the regional settings and others but nothing worked.
any help is appreciated.
thanks.
Hi Majdi,
have you tried to change input mode for the function you have in use at the moment pressing and keeping pressed the "*" ?
This should invoke the input method menu, where you can choose the one you prefer and the phone usually should remember this and continue to apply when needed...
This works for me on my Italian customized one...
Ciao
i did, but it doesn't remember the method with me (i have the WWE rom with arabic customization).
the issue here happened when i installed the arabic customization only, before that it does remember the last input method.
i hope there is a solution for this because i'm getting frustrated with it.
thanks for the reply though.

English interface, danish dictionary?

Hi,
Using the app, MoreLocale2, I've changed the locale of my phone to danish, so I also get a danish dictionary. However, now the entire interface of the phone is in danish.
Is it possible to keep the english interface, but get a danish dictionary? When I go to the input options, I can only choose an English dictionary. Is there some application that can do this for me?
Thanks in advance.
I too have had this problem, when wiping and installing a rom. MoreLocale2 hasn't worked perfectly for me either. I wasn't able to get an english interface with a danish dictionary. I have tried different roms, but in the end I go back to MCR 3.2 beta 5. To get the right interface settings with MCR, I first:
1. Flash the original HTC-provided rom for HTC Hero in Scandinavia (I download it from the official site)
2. I then use flashrec to flash a custom boot img. hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4525393 (replace xx with tt)
3. I download the MCR zip file to my sdcard and flash it in my custom bootloader. (Do this WITHOUT wiping. That way, you can keep your english interface with danish dictionary .
4. voila, done.

I'm also interest in your question: I want to use a Spanish Keyboard with a WME ROM because special characters ?&%/().....doesn't work (Like you).
I had this problem in the past and solved it with a great program called AE Software AEKMap (ask me if interested)
But I'm sure that cockers can help us because if I use a Spamish ROM, the Spanish keyboard works perfectly, so I'm sure that there must be a key Reg to change it.
BR.
THX
...but I must to use original ROM, becouse do not exist ROM in me language.
One way for reason this problem (IMHO).
User can define national letters in WM device via file sym.txt or sym0409.txt located in Windows folder. This files is simply txt files an user can change it for instance via Notepad. Unfortunatelly this letter is activated via SYM key on HW keyboard of mobile device. In USB host mode user use classic PC full size keyboard without SYM key.
Can some cocker help us?

[Q] To advanced CM6-latest users with keyboard-layout other than qwerty

Hi there,
how did you change your keyboard layout? As there are so much methods to change it, how did you do it? I am wondering if my method is correct:
1) install CM6-latest (miniCM version) with all hotfixes
- Use the files from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982341
2) install CM7-ActivateSEKeyboard.zip
3) CM7-KeyboardUpdate.zip
4) german_underscore.zip
5) qwertz.zip
6) blacktheme.zip
7) wipe cache
8) reboot
9) set language again to german everywhere where it is possible
10) reboot second time
It seems everything works but:
- under certain circumstances sym menu freezes
- using andoid onscreen keyboard the hardware-keyboard is still qwerty
Either it's a bug to be fixed or I was doing something wrong. So I ask you:
- Did you recognize that, too and live with that?
- Or did you change your keyboard layout in another way and that works perfect and may you so helpful to tell me and others having my problem how!?
Thanks, guys.
If you want a QWERTZ keyboard, just change with root explorer's editor in system/usr/keyboard-config/keyprint.xml
THIS:
<script-name="latin" keylayout="qwerty-en"/>
TO
<script-name="latin" keylayout="qwertz"/>
Then save and reboot.
Temes
so if i get this right for azerty (got a dutch phone) i do
<script-name="latin" keylayout="qwerty-en"/>
TO
<script-name="latin" keylayout="azery"/>
???

[Q] Language & Input Settings on first boot

Hi,
Im working on custom rom for a Android TV settop box and I need help. I have original rom from chineese manufacturer and that ROM work just fine. When I boot device for the first time its input language (on onscreen kayboard) is Hebrew. Device UI and all messages are in English language, except hebrew keyboard.
I can later change to US in Settings, but I need to make ROM which have US input language from FIRST BOOT. Where is those settings initially stored? I have all tools to unpack original ROM and I can access to all apps in /system/apps.
Does anyone knows how to change initial language input?
