Because hbo and hulu doesnt support android device. It even say it when u try hulu
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Even tho you have flash player, there are some sites where its not supported. Such as hulu, hbo. Its like that on any 2.2 rom.
That is the latest version of Flash for Android. I just tested using two browsers and HBO was telling me the same, however, I also check a site that I have watched video on before, CNET.com and was able to watch. It's certain sites that we still can't access but most work fine. I'm seeing conflicting info about the version for PC for instance I have installed 1.1.85.3 and there is a version available that is 10.1.102.64. So bottom line is my previous sentence. But iI did notice that HBO offers an Iphone app.
Update; Only referenced the PC versions to show that there are multiple versions of flash.
As others stated, there is nothing wrong with flash. The sites are blocking what devices access their videos. At one point android users were able to access hulu videos by using skyfire. The next day Hulu blocked it. It's not an axura issue, or an android issue. It's a content provider decision. I hope that helps.
There is actually a way to get it to work; check out this threat

hello everyone on XDA-Developers
i recently bought a Viewsonic Viewpad 7, i really like the tablet, but yet it annoies me alot due to i can not install flash at all!, i have tried every diffenent methord to try and install flash on the tab, everything from the offical market, the adobe website (both which when i try and download the file for it, says that the page is unavalable, basiclly means its blocking me) i have tried installing as APK files, diffnenent markets, rooting the tablet, everything! but i am still unable to install flash player on to the tab. i have read online that their was ment to be an offical version of it going to be released for it, but due to some legal issues or something they stopped it, even though they finished development for it. so i am wondering if anyone has been able to install flash onto the view pad 7 through some methord, like i have the tablet rooted incase it will require a methord being done through that, but yet i have currently tried evvery methord i have thought off and researched about. if anyone can help, please do, like i would not mind that if their was a app which can play SWF files without adobe flash that i could download from somewhere. like all flash operners require adobe flash to run, so they are abit silly.
anyways, i hope someone can help me then, i really do not want to get a diffenent tablet, like i really like the viewpad 7 compared to the others i have tried.
please help if you can,
with thanks

Flashing a custom firmware is not rooting, it goes WAY beyond rooting. Your thread title falsely implies that rooting alone broke something.
Not sure if this capability is available in AOSP-based firmwares.
ok well im new to "rooting", and i only know that on stock i can stream fine, and after "rooting" i can not
i dont know why nor do i care, i am not mad, i just want to see if there is a fix for this or something i can do to stream videos again on tv links
its not going to matter to me so much that i will revert to stock but i felt on this forum if this was a common issue that there would be a fix for it
thanks
By "general meaning", rooting is the process of "unlock" the stock OS, open the door, gain root folder access. Again, the term applied when using stock OS.
Using custom ROMs, like you said MIUI or CM7, "rooting" is an incorrect term because you don't need to "root" since it already let you access the root folder, meaning it's widely open.
So when you state "rooting", people who use MIUI or CM7 probably won't even enter your thread and read because they do not use stock OS. That will limit you to get more answers from others.
So instead of saying "after rooting i can no longer stream videos", do "after flashing MIUI/CM7 i can no longer stream videos?" or even "after installing custom ROM i can no longer stream videos"
As was said, what you did was not rooting, but flashing. Go to the Dev forum and find the MIUI and CM7 threads and see if anyone else has reported issues like yours. This thread isn't likely to get you an answer since the people that could help you will likely never see it because of the poorly-worded title.
I would suggest trying one of the Unamed ROMs.
Never had any "media playing" issues with them.
I've not tried either of the two ROMs you have, so I cannot comment on them.

No - after flashing custom firmware you are having problems.
You didn't just root. Now if you were having this problem with rooted stock and anything other than Google Videos (which is known to explicitly check for a rooted device), then it would be interesting.
rooted = /system/bin/su binary present with proper permissions, that's it, nothing more. (Superuser.apk isn't actually needed to be "rooted" - although most su implementations won't work without it there are some that will) What you did was flash alternate firmware that replaces EVERYTHING.
ok thanks for the lesson i guess ill check out the dev forum
I just bought my Note today [came from an Atrix running CM7]. The rep at the store said I would get an OTA update of ICS when I booted up....but that didn't happen. Was he mistaken? So I decided to flash one directly from xda, I've rooted, got odin up and running, flashed CWM and was going to flash an ICS rom...but not sure which one. Most of the ROM threads say discontinued, some are hybrids, can't seem to find just a plain ICS rom. What is the best running ICS rom available? Was the rep wrong and the Note hasn't gotten an official ICS update, as it appears all these roms are from leaked versions that don't retain the original note features.
Any help from anyone that's been around the Note forum for a while and is up to date on all these choices for getting ICS would be awesome!
Thanks
It was released a while ago. You can try the official the kies if you want to give that a shot first. Also, there are some official ics rims (uclf6) means the official release so all of those are official not leaks. But yeah, just read a bit more I'd say.
I would suggest cm9 nightly if you had cm7 on your matrix. Black star is probably the closest to stock that's been updated recently

there was no OT but rather updated thru Kies

here's the link to the post for the official ucfl6 for odin.
Use at your discretion as you can't blame other people for mistakes made when flashing, but I used this and I know it works, if you want a bit more info on it read the thread I linked, good luck.

Are you US at&t or Canada? The ota update for Canada had problems so if that's you, don't accept it. Do as others have said and use Kies. Don't root or add a recovery until you install the upgrade.

..and I thought I was pretty well read on Android [lol]. I didn't realize there would be such difference between manufacturers. Previously I've flashed everything via CWM. This will be my first device utilizing Odin, and Kies. I've already run a couple things via Odin with not problems. I see a lot of references to Kies, [One last question before I begin] is this the same Kies that comes installed on the Note [which appears to be a web-interface to browse your phone contents], or is there a different Kies I should be using for updating ROMs?

Figures, you mention exactly the ONLY two things I've done to my device so far - Rooted, and added CWM. Do you say this because I will have to repeat those processes over again after upgrade, or because they will hinder the upgrade process?

yes you will loose root and cwm, so if you use the link I posted you can use odin instead of kies, get cwm from braway's thread for odin, and get superuser.zip for ics and put it on the sd card before you start the process, go to download mode, flash the update thru odin, then the cwm thru odin, and then you can boot into cwm and flash the superuser zip, and get root back. Easy. :good:

Thanks, I started the ICS file download a few minutes ago, the 'free' download is really, really, really throttled so it looks like I've got about an hour to wait for that. I got all the other files waiting and ready...should be good to go when the d/l finishes.
Thanks
No that's Kies Air and its about as useless as a third nipple.
Go to the Samsung-Kies site for the upgrade and everyrhing will be there (files to download, drivers, step-by-step directions).
You do this with your pc. You use the stock usb cable. You use usb port on the back of your pc (powered usb).

That would explain why I could not find the option to update firmware! Thanks...got the PC version from Samsung site. I'm really liking ICS. It seems like now official Android includes a lot of the features that were in Older Cyanogen Mod versions that made it so much better than stock Android. I'd say it's very possible to be happy with this device leaving it with a stock ROM. For those who have gone the custom route [I'm leaning towards CM9, as I've been happy with CM on my Atrix] are there any features that you couldn't imagine being without. Besides the usual performance tweaks, and bloat removal that would be nice...it would also be nice not chasing the 'nightly threads' and flashing updates at least once a week. It seems there a lot more people in this I717 forum who are sticking with stock ICS, than there were people sticking with stock GB on the Atrix forum. For those running the manufacturer ICS update, is there anything glaring missing that would make you inclined to go custom? I've only been using it for less than a day, and need to make a quick decision where to go custom or not because I leave for a week tomorrow morning.
Thanks again for any input...
...Sorry to all those who have helped with their replys and haven't been 'thanked' properly [get maxed out at 8 / day]. I will try and catch up on that each day, as I really appreciate everyone's input. It's been very useful in making the decision on what devices I purchase, and getting them up and running as desired quickly...especially when working with a device / manufacturer for the first time.
You have CWM. Just go get a few rom's, label them in different folders on your external sd card, get Titanium Backup, an sms and phone call baxkup and restore, and you can flash any rom and put your apps and stuff on without internet access.
When restoring with TiBU only never restore system data. Doing that will make even the fastest rom act sick.
I have to say the collective's aocp is an amazing smooth ROM you lose spen gestures
but there are other apps and features that make me not miss them.i would highly recommend it.
U will loose s pen with all ROMs that don't run touchwiz(cm9, 10, hybrids........) but ur phone will run better. U can get papyrus from the market if that bothers u.

I've recently purchased a Thunderbolt from eBay (which I know is always a bit sketchy, and that the device is getting a bit older) but so far it's been a relatively good little phone. I'm definitely enjoying the LTE over the 3G my iPhone 4 had before I accidentally murdered it. I have the HTC Dev unlock on this phone, but the stock ICS rom pushed out by Verizon and HTC feels bloated and slow to me, having come from the iPhone 4 running a jailbroken iOS 6.1.2.
Would someone be so kind as to point me towards a fast, stable ICS or Jellybean ROM and instructions on how to install it and a proper recovery on my phone? I'm not all that picky about appearances, and I wouldn't mind running stock Android either if someone can tell me how to get it running on this phone. Currently I'm running all of the latest updates courtesy of the previous owner (I'm up to HBOOT 1.08, ICS 4.0.4, software version 7.02.605.10 710RD).
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
EDIT: After much more tinkering, I have managed to get Clockwork Mod Recovery running on my phone, but I would still very much appreciate if someone had a suggestion for a ROM that runs quickly and efficiently.
Look through the Development forum here and head over to Infected Roms. Lots of answers to your questions in both places. Just takes a little time go through the threads to find what you need.

I just mashed my Rezound, so I'm back on the TBolt as well and had to go through the same thing. Before I go all out on this, I can tell you that the process to get this done isn't that bad considering I will compile all the instructions here, but you have to flash a patch through HBOOT then relock the phone, take it back to an older ROM, run revolutionary on it for s-off, load radios, then back to ICS lol. If you think it will be worth it to you, let me know an I will post the links. It's just a bunch of back and forth and I took me about a week to find all the pieces.

Hey, works for me! I really want to like Android, but Verizon's firmware is so bloated and slow it makes it hard to do. I'm willing to go through the work if it means I can get a phone that runs the way I want.

Then once you have gone through those steps (I had TWRP recovery and it worked) you will be on GB. To save some time, go to http://forums.infectedrom.com/ and create an account. I don't quite remember how I got to the end result of 4ext actually working but I remeber I had to download it twice from the installer app, and told the app to wipe cache + dalvik... but just to make sure, check these steps:
1) make sure you're rooted with s-off and have SU and busy box installed.
2) download the updater app file from the link provided in the QR code (from previous post).
3) make sure "unknown sources" is enabled in settings so you can install the updater app, then find the app in your download folder on your SD card and install it.
4) open the updater app and give it SU permissions, then run the install/update option and select the proper file. This will also be stored on your SD card (in a 4ext folder I think...don't quote me on that though).
after install you should be good, but I believe you can push via ADB as well. Attached is a PDF from the Dev on this as well.
---------- Post added at 12:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:26 PM ----------
Sorry, I guess the PDF was too large. just remove the "http://forum.xda-developers.com/" out of the link and replace it with "http://www.". http://forum.xda-developers.com/4ext.net/install.pdf I can't post external links yet.
Now that I am thinking about it. Did you update super user or super su after getting root? The app itself probably needs it and the binary as well. You can update the binary by opening the app. It should prompt you to update it.

After a lot of attempts I still can only run the official Samsung 4.0.4 (P7500XXLQ8/IMM76D.XWLP6) or any other localisation. When I attempt to flash another rom the only one that works so far is the AOSP version 5.1.1 from aosp-5.1.1-p4-20160305.zip. After that I can install open-gapps but Google Play Services keeps crashing.
The reason I want to install another ROM is that my wife uses the tablet for Youtube only and Youtube stopped working on this specific version; confirmed by other users as well, I read on several forums. The trick would be to return to an older version of Google Play Services and prevent it from updating, but I hate such a suggestion.
I have tried all sorts of GT-P7500 (p4) downloads, with both TWRP and CWM but get stuck at this point. I tried installing newer versions of TWRP but that fails also; tried to increase system or even re-partition, but that didn't work as well.
Despite all the step by step instructions I can't get this working on my specific tablet. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get a newer version working WITH Google apps of which Youtube is the most important.
Kind regards,
Arjen
