[Q] volume rocker stuck - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok here's the thing. My phone suddenly stars acting really weird after a year of problem free use. the volume rocker started to go bonkers, almost like the downward rocker is always on. rebooting is really difficult as flashing mode turns on. The only way to turn it on is to hold the home button at the same time as the power button to turn it on.
once inside the os, the volume rocker is permanently downwards, so ringer is always at vibrate, and working with the phone is impossible.
i tried restarting quite a few times, restored original firmware and installed latest energy gtx rom, all to no avail.
i think there is a problem with the circuitry or something which might be causing this. any thoughts on how to fix this? I have had this since last november with a contract on tmobile UK. any ideas about where to get this fixed should this be a hardware problem?
thanks in advance

Yeah looks like a hardware problem with the rocker seemingly pressing the downward button all the time 24/7.
See if you can play around with it to loosen the rocker button.
Otherwise it's an open the unit to fix it which will void warranties, etc.

thanks for the reply. i'll take this to tmobile. lets hope they solve the problem.

[Q] Htc Hd2 Volume goes up by itself???

I fell asleep next to my phone one night and when i woke up and tried to wake up my phone the volume menu opened up and acted like if i was pressing the volume bar repeatedly. I turned it off and on again and once it boots into Windows the same thing, if i try to press volume down it will and it will go right back up again. The Volume rocker button is fine and not stuck. I found out though if i hold up and down before windows mobile boots up it will allow me to operate as normal but once i let go It goes back to the volume going all the way up. I have flashed different roms to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas to what could be causing this?
I just started having the same problem with a Samsung Omnia 7. It fell into some water, let's say it was a bucket, i pulled it apart and thoroughly dried it. Seemed to work perfectly for a few hours, now the volume thing.
Our HD2's hard buttons are not invincible and I learned that the hard way. After lots of use on my phone the send, home, end, and volume down buttons stopped working. I also believe my end button is stuck on because it always boots up on its own, meaning I can't shut it down and leave it off. I have to take the battery out of it.
My advice is if you can find a way to use "soft" buttons to navigate your phone do it and save yourself the hassle of breaking the hard ones for when you need them. Good luck!

I had a few drips of water it my hd2 and a couple days later, I rebooted and after it rebooted, the volume is stuck on UP. I took it apart. I has nothing to do with the button itself as I removed the button and it's still stuck. Still no solution yet.
Hi,
Did anyone find a solution for this? I had to hard reset my HD2 couple of days ago. After the reset, I installed all the apps, one after another. The phone worked fine for a day, until this afternoon when it started acting crazy. First symptom was that when you type some numbers of the "Phone" screen to look up a contact, I was not able to delete the using the back button. Other keys like up, down, left, right too didn't work in the SMS compose screen. I restarted the phone thinking that it would resolve the issue, but worse. The volume control showed up just after the boot and the "volume up" tone was constantly going off as though I was pressing the volume-up button constantly. I tried rebooting and remove the battery, SD etc, uninstalled few programs, but to no avail.

Power button in lockscreen

I'm not sure if this is normal or just something I've messed around with. My phone keeps shutting down in my pocket because the power button is fully functional even while the phone is locked, so long pressing it turns my phone off.
I've had the phone for months but the issue came up just recently. I have WidgetLocker enabled and
Im not sure if this hass something to do with me using the "Disable Stockholms Lock Screen" option. I've already tried disabling Easy Wake and disabling WidgetLocker but nothing seems to help.
Is this normal or have I done something stupid with my device? And if it's just me being an idiot can anyone tell me how to fix this?
Im using Cognition 1.31 and the newest WidgetLocker
Sounds normal.
If the power button is pressed for ~10seconds, or something like that, the phone powers off, no matter what the opinion of the running OS about the matter is (i.e. the OS can't prevent it).
It's a hardware trigger, kind of an "emergency off" for situations where a clean shutdown isn't possible for whatever reason.
So you better see that nothing pushes on that power button while the phone is in your pocket.
Alright thank you. It is necessary to have a way to shut the phone down with an actual button but it would be better if it was two or three buttons that have to be pressed at the same time. I just can't figure out why I haven't had my phone shutting down before. Maybe the power button has loosened so it needs less force to be pushed

[Q] S3 Volume rocker leaning down

Hello!
I got my S3 a mount ago and I've noticed that my volume rocker is looking kind of pressed down anytime so it's not parallel with the screen, even though I've been gentle to it.
Is it just me and my OCD, or this might actually happen/that's the way it looks? I'm not having problems like a stuck button, just the way it looks. I really want to keep my phone in a good as possible state, including little things.
Thanks!
I does kinda happen. Mine has done the same. Most people for example while playing music will put the volume up one at a time so its not too loud, where as when putting the volume down people generally hold the volume key until the volume drops.
Also happens when flashing new roms through Odin and the phone needs to be put into download mode which of course is Holding power button, Home button And volume down key for 10 seconds or more sometimes, which can also cause the same effect.
Hope this helps.

Volume keeps going Full or Mute

It happened out of the blue, my phone's volume suddenly went full. Tried to lower the volume with the Lower vol. button, it doesn't change anything! So with natural instinct I pressed the Increase vol. button instead, and it went down to muted! After I got home, I tried turning off the phone-- but that was stupid. My phone now stuck in the Factory menu, and I can't make any choices there. I checked the volume buttons physically, but nothing is wrong with it.. I'm using Android 2.3.6, and also, there was this time before I left where my hands were wet and I pressed the volume buttons, but I don't think that's the case, because the volume buttons almost has no gap to the insider. My friend said that this is a problem with the program, is there really a problem like this? If there is, then I would like to know how to Hard-reset my phone without going to the factory mode, without booting, just directly from a PC. Thank you!

Unable to wake phone after screen is turned of for a while

I'm facing an issue on LineageOS (build 01/01/19) with firmware 8.12.27 where I can't wake my phone after the screen has been turned of for a while. The power button and volume keys (I set them to be able to unlock the phone in the settings) are not working and after waiting for a while I might get lucky and the phone wakes up after pressing the power button or volume keys.
I'm pretty sure I never had problems waking up the phone when I was on MIUI, so I think the issue is software related.
Any help on this issue is greatly appreciated!
