Hi,
how do i get access to the wallpaper directory. I would like to replace on my tablet the original wallpapers with custom ones. I do not want to crop or use the Gallery for wallpapers all the time.
My tablet is rooted and i have read somewhere that the directory should for the wallpaper should be
/Data/Data/Com.android.settings/Files
but somehow i cannot access. Every time i click data nothing happens.
Thanks
Just place your wallpapers on the sdcard and you can use them. I think the stock wallpapers are in the launcher apk. Some custom ROMs and DocRambone have taken the wallpapers out for optimization.
I believe they are in the framework-res.apk
system/framework/framwork-res.apk

THANK YOU for asking this question! I have been looking and searching for a way to find my wallpaper (with no success until I found your post). Your path worked for me.
My steps:
I used Solid Explorer as the file manager
Then using the toolbar on the right-hand side of the screen, I went to Jump > Device > System root.
I located the data folder and clicked on it. I was then prompted by Superuser for admin permissions.
I then proceeded to data/data/com.android.settings/files where I found a file called "wallpaper" (no file extension).
At this point I copied that file to my Pictures folder and added ".jpg" to the end of the file name.
Suddenly, there was that elusive, original file, of the photo I had been seeking for so long!
I had taken a trip out to the "sticks" to a cabin that my family owns. I had taken lots of pictures, but through the course of several events all of the pictures (save this one) had been completely lost. As a result this photo became very important and iconic to me. Thank you Internet, and thank you indianx for posting the question. I now have my picture back and secured.
Hello,
I can not seem to get the Cosmic Flow live wallpaper to work on my Kindle HD. They install fine, but they do not show up anywhere. Even after I installed to system app wit the right permissions, it did not work. So does anyone have a working cosmic flow live wallpaper.
Thanks

I'm going to guess that you need a live wallpaper picker app to use any live wallpapers. I haven't tried this yet but that's probably a good place to start.

The live wallpaper picker apk is availiable in my post here. Instructions to install it are below the link. This should allow you to use any live wallpaper.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953999
1) download LiveWallpapersPicker.apk
2) Make sure you have root access.
3) Install a application to manage files with root access (example Root Explorer).
4) Move the downloaded file to your Kindle Fire HD. (Remember where you place it).
5) Go into your system/App folder, and move the LiveWallpapersPicker.apk to this folder.
6) Change permissions on LiveWallpapersPicker.apk to rw-r-r.
7) Install Live Wallpapers from the Google Market, or Sideload them.

I actually just pulled LiveWallpapersPicker from an old Rom and dropped in system apps and boom it works. Your instructions are more thorough, lol.
Oil OK I will do that tomorrow since I lost root after the new update. Thanks guys.
I'm currently using a wallpaper on my phone that was originally from a picture file that I manually copied onto the SD card and placed in a folder I specifically created for such background wallpapers. I don't want to lose the wallpaper, but as far as I can tell that file is no longer in the backgrounds folder, so I'm guessing that if I change the background or theme on my phone, it will disappear. Obviously, the file is somewhere on the phone since the background remains in use, but I can't find it.
So...can someone tell me how to determine the location of the file currently being used as the background wallpaper?
Thanks!
PS - I'm running CM10.1.3.

That app definitely brought up more graphic files than my previous ones, but I still wasn't able to find it. The good news is that I finally managed to locate the same background elsewhere on the Internet and re-downloaded it, so all is well. I'll keep playing with this app, though. Looks like it might come in handy. Thanks for your help!
The title says it all. I've been looking for 3 days and I can't figure out how to install a font so the built-in font chooser will recognize it. I have LG Smartworld installed and I can download and use fonts from there through the font chooser. Their selection is pretty limited though. I have also tried out the various apps (Fonter, iFont) and had unsatisfactory results. So which files go where to make this possible?
Edit: So this would seem to be the answer to my question. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3011006
Thanks to @Valsorim for the OP!
I am pretty sure you just place the font TTP file in SYSTEM>FONTS
You need to have access with some type of root file explorer app. Then set permissions to match other reboot and it should show up as an option in the fonts to choose from.
Have a great day! from my LG G3

I'm a little leary of that. For the fonts that are available in the settings menu, there are two files for each one in System/fonts. One is (Font Name)_Regular.ttf, the other is (Font Name)_Bold.ttf. I don't know if I rename the same file for each or if I should have separate bold and regular files. Another thing is that the files in System/font are big compared the .ttf files I extracted. The extracted files are between 80 and 120kb. The ones in the font picker are 800kb to 1.3mb. Seems like too big a difference. The last thing I noticed is that downloaded fonts from LG World don't show up in that location, only the stock fonts. Haven't found where the downloaded ones go yet.
Well, many cool ROMs doesn't have stock gallery, which removed the functionality of changing lock screen wallpaper.
But not anymore
Procedure
Step 1 - Getting your picture ready.
Select any image you like.
Crop it, preferably to resolution 240x320, if not, no problem, the center part will be shown.
Save it, and name it 'lockscreen_wallpaper.jpg'.
Step 2 - abracadabra
Make sure you have root access, data partition mounted as rw.
Go to data/data/com.sec.android.gallery3d/
If you don't find the folder, create one.
Paste the pic (lockscreen_wallpaper.jpg)
I don't think permission will bother you much.
Voila, no need of reboot. Instant Reaction.
P.S- I have tried this on stock, it works, but not tries on modded stock, so need testers.
If you gonna test, make sure you don't have Samsung's Gallery app.
