Can someone link to me this awesome overclocked kernel? And to enable overclock do i need to install setcpu? The version you buy? Thanks!

Yeah, does anyone know if this really exists? I couldn't find such a kernel anywhere. Just was hoping to try it out before the Nexus S is here

Team whiskey, donator section

What other perks can be found there? And is DoW really that good? Better than Core 1.2GHZ for 2.1?

Support them and find out

I tried Overstock which is amazing and today i deciced to try DoW. After flashing, lagix was on, setcpu was min 200 max 1400. Did a benchmark with quadrant and the highest i scored after 3 test over a period of about an hour was 2028. when running overstock, i scored 2080. and that was running at 1.2ghz.
dont know if i have to wait a certain amount of time before benchmarking but i didnt get the results i wanted first time around with DoW. Plus it was giving me problems with rebooting into recovery from the home screen. would pause on the shut down screen and had to pull battery.
Flashed back to overstock and my problems were gone
also im using a vibrant with bionix-v 1.3.1

I originally flashed DoW as an *optional*at your own risk* Bonus Download with Nero v5 although I'm pretty sure it was Nero v4 and DoW2.2.1 at that time. But anyways heres the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907347
**Tip: Just thought I'd check and yeppers! Both links to Nero v5 and the DoW kernel are in the Bible. Sometimes a little deeper searching might help you find ur answer.** Good luck!

[Q] JI6 OTA zip Roms and Kernels?

Total NOOB here, but I get confused on all the posts.
At one point I ran the Eugene's Vibrant4 rom with one RyanZA's one click lag fix on the one click root.
I ended up going back to stock and waiting for the JI6 OTA. I got impatient and downloaded the JI6 OTA zip from ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802240
Now I'm just running that on an unrooted Vibrant. I was wondering what is the best Kernel / Rom / LagFix to go with after this update? Are there any yet for the version listed in the link as it is not the leaked version of JI6? (having a hard time deciphering Roms and kernels for leak vs OTA JI6)
Also I have the larger nand chip according to the post here ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8322865&postcount=131
I was wanting to try the JAC XMOD ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791478
or the kingklick ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787410 but I don't wanna mess up my phone, I'm poor as heck and need my phone.
I also want to speed up my phone if at all possible and maybe lengthen battery life... (might be asking too much lol )
Any posts appreciated, and yes I know I'm noob!
yes you might be asking too much. I am currently running Simbionix 1.7 with jac's kernel with voodoo on the J12 modem O/C to 1.2. You will instantly see the speed of your phone increase.
I flashed the J12 modem because its supposed to give you increased battery life. After following the instruction on reconditioning the battery, It still wasn't that great even though others are reporting great battery life. I am going for broke and flashing Bionix 1.7 w/Jacs OC/UV/VOODOO kernel w/ the J16 modem tonight.
First step is rooting your phone with the one click root program and try them all out if you like. Its hard to mess up this phone as you can always flash back to stock with Odin. Even there is a few bugs with Sim1.7 its still a great rom and will be using it this till Froyo is released.
ok, thanks badaphooko01. I guess I will try the Jacs but not sure if I should be trying the voodoo version cause of the larger nand chip.
Ok so I had installed the one click root and Rom Manager, used them to load the Bionix 1.7 w/Jacs OC/UV/VOODOO kernel w/ the J16 modem even tho I see that voodoo is disabled due to my nand chip...and I haven't bought the SetCPU app yet.
Seems like my battery life went up huge even though I haven't yet reconditioned the battery. It was too late to finish after I loaded the rom, had to sleep for work. I figured I would recondition tonight but as it's going I may not need to.
This rom DOES help battery life and it sped up my phone so I am truly happy with it.
Thanks for the input.
Side note, I haven't noticed any freezes or reboots yet due to not having setCPU installed. But I also haven't had time to get all the apps I had previously back on my phone either. :/

You shouldn't be getting freezes or reboots at all. The only way I could see that happening is if you installed SetCPU and set the minimum clock speed below 200MHz. Right now without SetCPU installed you are running on the stock speeds of 200min / 1000max which should be fine.

Makes sense now, thanks for the info, I was thinking the rom oc'd the processor by script or something, now I can stop worrying lol.

[Q] SETCPU on bionix-v limits upper speed to 1000: cant change and dont know why

Hey everyone. First off, I am very new to all this. I started reading last week about the idea of rooting a phone, and ended up doing it the next day. I have bionix-v installed now for almost 1 week, and no problems at all, except for one. The max speed limit in the "conservative" mode in SETCPU is 1000, but the TEAMWHISKEY Website says to set it from 200-1200. I was wondering if anyone can tell me why it's not allowing a speed higher than 1000, and what I can do about it to speed it up? After doing auto detect, the conservative mode simply gives the range of 100-1000. Any help is appreciated.

You need to get a overclock kernel look at their post for more info.
I suggest u don't, it gives horrible battery life

yeah...
Bionix-V comes with VooDoo kernel...but it can't be overclocked...if you want overclocking get the Dragon kernel or DoW (Destroyer of Worlds)
Personally i would wait for a while until kernel devs get their hands on the official source code...so the OC kernels won't have such crappy battery life
Hey guys thanks for the quick replies. I tried to read up as much as I could but missed that info. Since you both suggest not doing it, or not doing it right now, I'll take your advice. Thanks a lot!
It isnt really needed anyway unless you just want to see higher numbers. just remember higher overclock doesnt always mean higher test scores.
Infact I often will underclock my kernel to 800mhz. these guys do such a good job you dont really even notice the speed difference.
Dow=fast kernel but leaves your battery dead and lonely.
dragon kernel has been my fav up until eugene's but still worse on battery.
Dont mess with eugene's kernel as it isnt overclocked yet and it isnt very noob friendly.

i agree, it's possible to make overclock kernels only when devs have source codes of a kernel. we had not had one until eugene recently released one (still not official vibrant kernel source). this means both dragon and dow kernels are based on galaxy-s i9000 model. because the kernel is not optimized to our phones, battery drain is quite bad. since we do have kernel source codes and eugene and team whiskey are working to improve it, we will probably see good overclock kernels soon.

[Q] Help me find a good Kernal for SC 2.9.2?

Hey guys im new to XDA and kind of a noob when it comes to rooting and flashings roms and such. I do have expierence with jailbreaking and comand prompt and stuff like that though.
Ok so my phone looks like this right now
Samsung Fascinate
Android 2.2.1 ( EB01 Build )
SuperClean 2.9.2
Voodoo Kernal( Not sure of specifics, just the one adrynalyne made and comes with the SC 2.9.2 Voodoo rom)
Ultimate Honeycomb theme 3.1.2 ( i beleive thats right..)
So im looking for a good kernel that will speed up my phone and gets good battery life. My current kernel will get me around 20 hrs ( maybe more ) of heavy usage. On SetCPU i have the minimum 800Mhz and Max 1000Mhz. Quadrant score is around 1550
If you cannot suggest a kernel, maybe you could help my configure my SetCPU settings to get the absolute most out of my phone/kernal WITHOUT the possibility of "hurting" my phone ( severly overheating, bricking, etc )
So to sum up my "wishlist" for guys:
-Really good kernal that is compatible with SC 2.9.2
-Compatible with EB01 Build
-If you cant help with above, help me configure my SetCPU settings to maxime performance.
Thanks so much and sorry for the long post. If you have and questions feel free to ask
You do not need setcpu with your current setup
look in the dev section and find jt's kernel and with voodoo, sound etc.. you should be good
take you time and review the diff kernel available before jumping into OC and UV kernel's

[Q] What Kernel is the best?

Ok, this is my problem: I have a Samsung t959 Vibrant Galaxy S with Boinix-V1.3.1 Voodoo, i changed the kernel, i was using Dragon 3.2 without OverClock but it has a lot of bugs (it reboots like 4 times in one day, it breaks for a few minutes and then when it came back it reboots, some times it reboots into the "safe mode" and i can't use all the apps in the phone, etc.). Then I changed to Drgaon 3.2 with OC, the same, but with one more bug, it breaks on screen off. I changed to Dragon 5.2 with OC!!! Beautiful !!! the colors, the sound, everything, but it has the bug of the screen off. I need my cellphone ON, all the day for any call, what kernel can give me all of the Dragon 5.2 without that screen off bug?
Thanks !!
It's down for personnel preference but you got two choices left, either Overstock or Tigersblood. They're both great but very rom Dependant and like I said down to personnel preference and use.
I had the best battery life and overall performance on Overstock though.
Try the non over clocked version of overstock first and see how you like it. If you do you can try out the other versions. I've been running the under volted version for a few weeks and its been great. There's also a overclocked version to play with to.
Trigger 2.9.2
it's personal preference try all them out. I like overstock kernel it works very well for me but my friend had problems do he uses tigers blood........ just depends on the phone when it was built, how you got it set up, like I said personal preference........
My opinion its the newest overstock. Thats been my preference.
Ok, i'm trying the Tiger Blood 3.22, it looks good, but when i use the voltage control it breaks, i have to see what voltages are the correct, i'm using the ones posted on the thread but them doesn't work. After this i'm going to try overstock ! i'll tell you how is it going
Minutes latter after try Tiger Bloods i decide to change the kernel to one Overstock, it is the 2.4.1 and it is the best i have tried today, if i find some bug like the screen off i'll tell you. If someone knows other kernel better than this, pleas recommend it to me

Yea. My experience on TB was it would just shut off. I even tried not changing the voltage but still happened. Have had no probs with overstock 2.2.1, 2.41 just came out & I've been using it since its release. No probs yet.

Kernel panic/Upload Mode message after installing Voodoo lagfix 3.0

OMG, I think I bricked my phone...
I have just intalled Voodoo-lagfix-3.0-SGH-T959-update.zip with Clockwork Recovery and after rebooting my phone is stuck at Kernel Panic/Upload Mode message. That happens after hearing some crazy robot voice talking something about ext4.
I was running a stable Bionic 1.3.1 before having this crazy idea.
I cant get my phone to recovery mode by pressin vol up, vol down a power buttons.
I have searched all the day for something in the xda forums and google but im not able to find any answer.
Is there any way to recover my phone? I dont care for any data.
Please help i'm desperate
Does it hurt to be that stupid? do a search for Odin and learn to use it. You'll have your phone back to normal in no time at all.

Thanks for the fast reply, vinnydakid
I have already used Odin to install Darky Rom in a Galaxy I9000 and Modafoca in a Galaxy I5000.
I have all the roms, ipt, adb file im my PC for Galaxy 959 (Vibrant) but I am little confused. I am a nobbie and I all know is to follow tutorials.
Can you give me a hand?

You realize voodoo 3.0 is like 8 months old right? Read before flashing something...

Thank you jneal9 !
It is working like a charm now! I though I had bricked my phone for a while but the problem was how to start the phone in download mode.
Sdobron, I downloaded the last lagfix available in voodoo website for Vibrant but didnt realize this was too old.
Thanks everybody. I am going to read more before flashing something.
BTW, wich custom rom do you guys recommend? I am looging for speed and battery saving...
The best roms out now are trigger and bionix for 2.2. I'd recommend trying those with bali kernel (the UV version, if your phone can handle it).
Also, make sure you're converted back to ext4 partitions from voodoo.

No problem. Thanks really go to s15274n for the fantastic guide though.
As for good roms. I like to try them all but seem to keep coming back to Bi-Winning V2 combined with the Bali kernel. It has given me the best battery life of any rom I've used and it's just as fast as any other. Good luck.

How do I know if my partitions are converted back from voodoo?
I got Trigger 3.2 final with [email protected] #3 kernel according to my phone settings. I will look for this bali kernel and if my phone can handle it.
Thanks Sdobron, jneal9 and s15274n
OM, think I am lost again.. So many files and I dont know what to pick:
Current:
Bali v1.8.5 uncapped
Bali v1.8.5 capped
Bali v1.8.5UV uncapped
Archives:
Bali v1.8.4 [FPS uncapped]
Bali v1.8.4 [FPS capped]
Bali v1.8.3 [FPS uncapped]
Bali v1.8.3 [FPS capped]
Bali v1.8.2
Will try learning on the search button...
Maybe start out with the 1.8.5 uncapped or UV. The uncapped one removes the FPS cap, but some phones get flickery screens when uncapped. If you don't, you're set. If you get flickery screen, switch to the capped or the UV. The UV one has lower CPU voltages and although the battery on the capped and uncapped are still great, it should give a bit better battery life.

I ve finished installing Biwinning v2 and Bali 1.8.5 uncapped because of your comments
Everything went fine and there is no flicks in the screen at the moment.
The only thing I dislike about this rom is that keyboard feedback was a lot faster before in Triger rom, almost instantaneous. Any mod for that?

Did some tweaks in swype settings: No auto spacing, no box suggesting words, fast speed and no precision.
It`s not as fast as Triger default keyboard but 60-70% better.
Hope anyone knows something else.
