Battery Percent On The Lockscreen, Permanent? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As most probably know there's a battery indicator that shows your battery percentage on your lockscreen ..
But it only when you've plugged it into the charger, if I unplug the charcger, will the icon disappears. Someone who knows how to fix it, to be there all the time..

widgetlocker which replaces the lock screen allows you to put widgets on the lock screen

why not just flash your framework to show the circular battery indicator. Its much much better than the stock ans is easy to read as well.

Is it possible to go back to the old battery indicator without a full restore/repair and having to delete everything?

Would rather have this

You don't need to flash. Just backup your framework-res.apk and replace it with the modified one. Try to find the walkthrough at themes and apps section. Cheers.

Yep, it's quite easy to do, all you have to do is :
- get root (use z4root which can be found on the market)
- (re)mount your system partition as read/write
- backup the original files
- push the modified files
- ???
- profit !
It's completely reversible.
P.S: look for X10ModTool which can be handy for this.

[MOD] I9000 *matte* skin and accurate battery *10/5/2010*

First and foremost, this would not have originally been possible without all the hard work zimphishmonger and the3dman13 did to bring fighspit's original battery mod to the vibrant, please see the original thread here, and give them some thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756441
I'm also borrowing zimphishmonger's warning, as i think it works to keep warning messages standard across all these battery mod threads.
WARNING: ALWAYS make a nandroid backup prior to installing any modification, including this one. You are making the decision to install this on your own, and I am not responsible for anything nuclear that may happen to your device.
UPDATE.. I lost count (10/5/2010)
So I dig Eugene's Frankin-twiz rom's, but I still want to keep my accurate battery mod, and well, I think his glossy-black skin is ugly. I also think the stock vibrant touchwiz skin is ugly (for the love of all that's holy samsung, why did you decide the vibrant would be the ONLY galaxy s phone to get your stupid glossy version of touchwiz?!)
So, I ported my battery mod to frankin-twiz and at the same time, ripped all the matte (non glossy) drawable's from the I9000 touchwiz skin, and added in my colored status/signal, mms, calendar, music player, and gmail icons, restored the black background for the power control widget, added HTC's weather icons to GenieWidget.apk, changed to the stock I9000 bootup and shutdown animation and sounds, and of course, I probably missed something else too, lol. You can see some (semi-outdated) screenshots here: http://picasaweb.google.com/113127051130934911253/AndroidStuff?feat=directlink
Also, if you find yourself being a typography nerd like me, you can use this zip to switch the default system font to Comfortaa I take NO CREDIT WHATSOEVER for making the original font, or the android port, I only re-packaged the files into a Clockwork-mod zip file for the vibrant. This will also change the lockscreen clock font to comfortaa, but ONLY if using the default android lockscreen.
Comfortaa system fonts: http://www.4shared.com/file/hYu1TYHL/Comfortaa_system_fonts_ONLY.html
New for ftwiz_final: I'm including an extra version with the samsung calendar AND the AOSP mms app, per Eugene's thread, since it resolves issues with being unable to send sms/mms messages. I'm also including the newest version of my battery mod (this is the version I personally like best and use daily), based on the upright/vertical icons, but with colored borders/outline, and a smoother charging animation (thanks to untermensch!) This can be applied on its own, after you flash either of the other versions. If flashed without flashing one of the other versions first, it DOES NOT contain the gmail/calendar/mms/music player icons, or the startup & shutdown animations and sounds. You can see a screenshot added to the post below too.
Download links here, ftwiz_final ONLY:
Removed, sorry, too many people use other people's work without giving credit, and it leads to way too many headaches, he-said/she-said, ignorance, etc.
Everything should flash via clockwork recovery fine, place the zip on the root of your INTERNAL /sdcard directory, reboot into clockwork, I recommend wiping the cache & dalvik-cache, then install zip from sdcard, locate the specific zip, reboot.
Enjoy, cheers everyone, and if you come in here posting bugs/whining for help without first making sure you cleared your cache and dalvik-cache, then I'm just going to ignore you,
Looks Great!!!
Thanks alot works well on my phone
i love it! not a big fan of the round battery icon, so this is great
Great work! Glad to see everyone is making their own customized battery images. We are gonna have a battery collection soon.
just a quick update to the OP with a new version with some colored/themed status icons.

I did, switched from the green circle. The battery indicator works fine.
I used the circle one but saw this with the other colored icons and thought they were cool. Seems that they don't quite work properly. Stock the GPS indicator shows in the notification bar any time it's on. With the new icons from the op the indicator is only on if I'm in an app that is using the GPS. I'm going to flash back to stock then to the battery only mod (i figure I need to to switch the other icons?)

Hi,
Thanks for trying it out. I have no idea how there might be issues since this is literally just img replacement from the segmented green circular battery mod, so however icons should work with that mod, is how they should work with this mod.
Maybe run a fix permissions from rom manager and see if that helps?
Also, my GPS icon has never worked like you described, even stock, (in other words, mine isn't always visible in notification bar, even when not in an app actively using gps, its displayed only when using an app that needs GPS, and disappeared when exiting the app.)
If you want to try and modify your own framework-res.apk with these files, I may upload just my png images once I'm done replacing/coloring all the icons I feel like modifying.
Thanks again for trying it out though, cheers
Lastly, I got bored and colored the wifi icons, cell-signal icons, and vibration indicator icon, I'll post the framework-res.apk in the first post, but won't package a new update.zip until I decide I'm done modifying icons, lol.

Hey again,
Glad I wasn't screwing up phone's, lol.
Anyway, I'm still working on changing all the icons, can't seem to decide where to stop yet, since now I've started modifying icons for other apps, gmail, mms, google voice, trillian, etc. And of course, now that I've gone with a slightly brighter green in the other icons, I may go back and tweak the color of my battery icon to match.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of some of the icons I'm mostly finished with (though for some reason I'm not digging the alarm icon, anyone have color suggestions for it?)
cheers,

Yeah...sorry about that. Anyway I hate that stupid icon to begin with so maybe something totally different? I did a GIS for alarm clock icon and there are a lot of possibilities. I think that maybe the stock one with a red square and white clock could be good.
Edit: Maybe something like this

If you don't already have it, I suggest you install Koush's Clockwork Recovery. You can install it quickly by using ROM Manager.
Once you boot into the recovery ROM, you can back up your entire phone using Nandroid (highly advised) and then you're free to experiment to your heart's content.
Now back to your question: you can save the file to your internal SD card and search for it using the 'Install from SD' (or something like that) option in the Clockwork ROM, install it and reboot.
Good luck, friend.
What's the right way to revert this? framework-res.apk restore?
Updated OP with newest mod.
I think I'm done with this for a while now, though I might zip all the png files if someone else wants to try and make this into a morph when the app gets updated.

Hi,
Yes, restoring your backed-up framework-res.apk will restore the battery mod. If you used the newer zip that also includes the Gmail icon mod, then you'll need to restore Gmail.apk too /system/app too.

There's a quirk with Motorola phones where the system only shows battery percentages in 10% increments, so for now...no.
The only workaround thus far is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=979495&highlight=circle+battery
Sad to hear.. but even a 10% change step view is better than non. Just take the "unnecessary" single steps images out?
sent ftom moded droid 2.2
there's a way to make it read in incriments of 1%.. DG did it.. I believe you need to edit framework-res and add some new xmls that include each step from 1%-100% :T
if you need help with that.. you can try searching for circle battery mod in xda.. and download it.. and look at what's inside the zip and see where you need to put the new .png's and what to write in the xmls.

Hey, sweet! My post got quoted in another topic I feel like a celebrity

[Q] How do I change the Battery icon on toolbar?

Hi Guys,
I just bought my SGS2 yesterday and had been charging it overnight. I looked at some of the battery indicators you guys have, which features a circular mode with numbers in it, indicating the percentage of battery life left. How do I get that? Mine is still the default battery icon with green juice in it.
You read the guides in the themes and apps section. Requires root as you are changing system files

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Is that the only way? to flash and play with the codings of the phone? Or can I just download sometihng off the market instead?
Main reason being I dont know how to play with codes and am just afraid that I might be doing something which I shouldn't.
Thanks.

Would suggest you to just get something like Battery Indicator off the market if you don't want to root.
It won't replace your battery icon but it'll show your battery level in 1% increments in your notification area.
Thanks!~ Will get the curve-fish one then...
main reason for not flashing or rooting is because i don't wanna void my warranty...
Hi Guys,
I was looking at SiMi clock widget... downloaded it and started using it. What strikes me is that the size stays 2x1. Is there anyway to enlarge the size to 3x1 or even 4x1?
Sorry guys. Already figured that out. Thanks anyway~!

Battery Icon mod + power widgets bar for NEO from ARC [Rooted]

I have searched for battery icon mod and power widgets bar for stock rom and I have found some in Arc threads. I have tested some of them on new 2.3.4 firmware 4.0.2.A.0.42.
UPDATE:Users reported that Reboot mod is working. But after testing we know that battery statistics becomes weird after using reboot mod. Don't use reboot mod! Look at this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19625567&postcount=13
I have tested this battery icon mod without reboot mods:
C-Style v1
Original Arc
from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284651
Any of this battery icon mods (from kitchen, too) ERASED my google account settings (gmail) from phone! so I have recovered it from online google account backup.
Battery icons are stored in Framework-res.apk
UPDATE: Users reported that they haven't had this problem with erasing account. But be careful!
And I'm using this power widget bar:
Rover Blue Version Two
from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1292634
UPDATE! this is draining battery faster because of bug.
Click to collapse
I'm now using
Blue v1 widget notification bar from first thread.
Seems to be more battery friendly.
Power widget bars are stored in file systemui.apk. I haven't problem with erasing google account or other password from phone, when
I changed only systemui.apk.
UPDATE2:
And there are some nice power widgets for Arc, too. I have tried one called Small icons. It works on NEO. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295254
Be careful, it's not fully tested for longer time.
Always do backup of your rom with nandroid backup before modding!!!
All instructions you can find in their threads.
I'm not responsive for any damages to your phone!
_________________________________________________________________
Update:
Best status bar mod IMHO is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392472
"you can choose which widget and change the order now"
credits goes to: sj8023ld
You can make your own battery icon for NEO with kichen on-line here: http://uot.dakra.lt/how_to/
I made one for me..I cannot upload it because it's not my work. I don't have rights for it.
Attention: After placing cooked file "framework-res.apk" from kitchen to phone it made it to forgets passwords for my Gmail and other accounts (twitter and facebook, too). It also changed my wallpaper to default which is stored in framework-res.apk.
Now I'm testing it.
thx : D perfect
Here are some nice power bar for Arc that may be working on NEO. I am now testing Small icons version from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295254
Seems working good on NEO
You can modify the widget, I should be in the status bar in flight mode as well!
Sorry it has been!
many thanks. battery icon and dropdown widget works with my neo with .42
i m using honeycomb battery iconc. so far no problem
Worked perfect with me.
I dind't had the problem with the erasing google account settings.
By the way, I have the reboot option working correctly.
I've used the HoneyComb battery icon and I'm running firmware v4.0.2.A.0.42.
My Neo is just getting where I want it eheh

I tried the C-Style v1 and the reboot option is working. Also, the google account data was not erased. I had my heart in my mouth when it took some time to boot the first time as I haven't unlocked my bootloader yet and don't have a custom recovery to backup from.

I've tried the files with reboot options and it works with my Neo. I am using honeycomb style.
Yeah ... the first 'long' boot makes me nervous too.
No contacts gone issue so far. However, some home screen icons missing and need to be put back manually. The apps in the application screens being scattered. So I need to edit and move them according to my preferences. The home button light doesn't light up as expected, but that's negligible.

Author of Reboot mod says, that light of hardware button doesn't works.
However, when I using mod without reboot, I was using edited hwconfig.sh to disable this lights. I don't like it, because it's only drains battery.
After I have started using Reboot Mod from Arc, it shows this strange battery usage. Normally display drains battery strongest. Have anybody with reboot mod the same experience?
EDIT:
after I swap reboot mod to without reboot mod the statistics of battery usage returned to normal.
Please give some feedback.
here is screenshot:
Yeah your are right! now my display consumes power lower than Wifi itself! This isn't normal

Did you ever find a solution? This is especially irritating considering that I installed Battery Widget Reborn and it has a more readable icon that sits next to the default one.
I have a Verizon S3, but here is what I found, just have a question...
I did a search looking to delete my battery icon from my status bar now since I have the percentage up there. I have already found the stat_sys_battery.xml file but I had a couple quick questions. (got my info from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010487 )
I downloaded 7Zipper from the market, open the SystemUI.apk with it ("Open with Zip Viewer), go to res/drawable and I navigate to stat_sys_battery.xml, the only option I get is to extract it, not delete it. Does this need to be done via a computer to actually delete it or will "extracting it" just remove it from the .apk?
Also, I have 2 res folders: 1 dated 09 Nov 12 & one dated 01 Jan 80
With that said, I also have 2 drawable folders, both with the same dates as the res folders.
It appears they are the same, but look like they have the same things in them. I guess in the end my question is, Is this the proper way to delete this on the phone or should I plug it in and delete from the computer?
Install JKay framework (link found in my signature), and then buy the deluxe app from the play store to customize it. you can hide or center clock, alarm, battery and play with it the way you want. It also contains lots of other features
