Hi everybody,
I got my new LGOO. I am not new to Android, I was using a phone with 2.1 before and I want the same keyboard than before.
* Dictionary
When I active the Android Keyboard there is no prediction which word I want to write, only the ones from my contacts.
I found a tool in the market (User Dictionary Manager (UDM) 3.1) but this only adds words to the user dictionay and doesn't make differences between languages. I want to use english and german from time to time so I need it both seperated. It seems like the phone doesnt have the languages files out of the box. Is it somehow possible to copy and paste it to the system? (I have root access)
* Correction
Also it doesn't correct my errors of typing. This worked under 2.1 and I can't find an option to activate it.
Thanks

Someone has solved installing the gingerbread keyboard.
I solved installing Swype keyboard.
any luck with this?
this happens only with stock roms. i tried the Android keyboard on custom roms and it was perfect.

anyway, I'm really glad that the "gingerbread keyboard" app works and replaces the default kb.
btw, I just installed the newest Swype beta and it's simply awesome.

Hi,
I'm using CM7.1 on a SGS I9000, and when selecting Hebrew, all the menus appear in this language. I'm not sure if it's a feature of CM7, or someone enabled it just for SGS I9000 and other selected devices.
Before installing the CM7 for this device (I5500), I want to ask if it supports the Hebrew language (I mean full menu display in this language, not just RTL and font support)
Thank you

sure it's a language available in CM7, how couldn't it be that way?
A rom / firmware is what we can call a OS (it's an easy way to call it, 'cause it's not really an OS) and thus it has inside languages! You can even check with an archive manager (apk files could be opened with it) and open apk like LatinIME or Setting, for example, and you'll find the supported languages..
I like to use the new keyboard from android 4.2 but it's not included the dictionary of my language like it does in my original aosp keyboard, so I tried to get the keyboard dictionary from my old apk,
And put it into the new 4.2 apk, and then I packed it back to zip, and I changed the name to ***.apk but it can be installed, it says, the app was not installed...
What do I need to do???
Please help

I would like to know the answer to that question, too. I'm interest to add Hungarian sand Romanian as additional add-on dictionaries.
I'd also like to use the 4.2 keyboard on my HTC Doubleshot with CM 9.1. Where did you guys download it? I only found the package for 4.1 devices. And of course I'd like to use the system dictionary.
Also, I've tried the pre-release keyboard install method and it didn't work when I flashed the .zip. However now that the code is out it's principally pretty easy to create an .apk right? Also can this made the way so that it uses the system dicitonaries?
Thanks
Hello,
I am an Irish language enthusiast, and I would like to have the option to use Android in Irish.
Older Samsung phones had this ability, possibly others.
It's clear that Google is not going to add this to stock Android in the near future, so I'd like to do it myself!
How would I go about adding Irish as a language to Android?
I would be able to do the translation myself, I understand that this probably requires making a custom ROM
(I have no experience with making custom ROMs)
Could anyone explain the process of doing this to me, as I'd really love to try it out !
Thanks (I hope!)
Search "Language Enabler" on Play Store (Root Required)

Currently, you can "unhide" languages with root on a Sumsung device even without switching ROMs (root is still required). Search "Language Enabler" on Play Store.

You can also add languages by editing the APK .... and by creating a folder in apk/Res/values-id ..... where id is the language to add ... for example for english is vaules-en .... and add the file within string.xml with the translated strings ...
Hi all,
I'm setting up Moto E for my mom, and I am attempting to set my native language (Croatian) which doesn't seem to be officially supported (through Settings / Language & Input). So I installed MoreLocale 2 which can enable Croatian language for most of the UI, but unfortunately the Settings, Phone, People and Messages still remained in English. Any thoughts of how to translate these as well? These are kind of essential apps she'll need to use the phone and it'd be great if I could have those translated too. Interestingly she's also using an android tablet running 4.1 (Hisense Sero 7) and that one has everything properly translated without the need of any external app.
Any suggestions are much appreciated!
P.S. The phone was bought in the US (Global version, single sim) and is currently rooted if that's helpful (I looked at custom ROMs but most seem to have mobile data bugged so that'd create another problem).
same problem with Czech language
all custom roms for moto e until now have big essential issue - mobile data ... so I wish resolve this issue in reasonable time or add remained language from original kitkat source to stock moto e rom or advise what files and where I can translate for example from english to czech langugae ...

The only way is to decompile the apps and add languages, I tried several times but i think I am doing something wrong.
I've been trying this thing, however it seems I always end up typing in English. I have Russian stickers on my computer, however I tried activating Russian, doesn't work . Any help? Thanks!
As far as I can tell the OS only has support for English right now, other Languages will probably be added when Remix OS 2.0 gets closer to release, remember it is still an Alpha Version

sad . They have Russian language display, but not keyboard. I've used it for just couple of days and I'm already hooked. Can't even function properly on home desktop windows computer.
Keyboard Layout can be selected after having performed a "real" installation

You have to perform a "real" install of Remix OS. Then during startup you can select your keyboard layout (Russian is provided).
