Contact Problem - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

help me guys, i import my contacts from my sim but when i got to phonebook>contact, it says, no contact. cannot read sim.
can you help me guys. please.
thanks.

I know if you export your contacts to the SIM from a Samsung phone another phone may not be able to import them, are you copying the contacts from a Samsung phone?
You could connect the phones via Bluetooth & transfer them that way.

Have you got problem in xperia or samsung?
Did you do any back up
In xperia you can back up you contact in you memory card!!! in contact press content menu andand then " back up contact" and then save " memory card"
those contact are save as a vCard

Had a similar problem where I could not import my sin contacts I think its a bug within sonyEricsson Rom .
Solution
I flashed my phone with asop 2.1 or 2.2.1 Rom sorry can't remember think it was 2.2.1 then exported contacts to sd relished to se Rom and imported . . .
Hope that helps

Just click three people icon at the top left of your phone book and you will see in 2.1 we're not only have one phone book but multiple phone book, and it will be more as you using other service like facebook , twitter, yahoo messenger, etc. you should be able to found your contacts by enabling other phone book.

"import contact from sim"...copies all contacts from sim card to phone,....for setting contact as favourite, it should be on phone, not on sim
i have the same problem as raphy82.
I import my contacts from SIM, the Pop-Up seems to copy the contacts from SIM to internal memory. but after copying, my contacts are not on my device. only on the SIM.
I use the newest official htc rom 3.14 since today.
I have found a solution for the contact import problem.
You have to open the sim manager in Phone/Contacts/Menu
Mark all your contacs and select copy in the menu.
Your phones copies your contacts on your sim to your device.
Greez
HEllo, Diaclone^
Thanks, i worked,
in my phone it says not "Copie" but "Contact to SIM ..."
Just click on that and Voila...
Now you have your contacts both on Sim and on Phone =)
Good Work and Thanks

Well it is like this.. I choose "Do not sync facebook contacts" and i know for a facet from a swedish forum that it doesn't matter what i choose the contacs syncs anyway.
And it do not help to remove the facebook account from the accounts on the phone either..
Do you access the contact from the Launcher Pro dock shortcut? Try accessing it from the main menu if it works the way you want.

Same thing happened to me. Just remove the Contact shortcut in the Launcher Pro dock. Then set it again. It works for me, but I have no idea if you are not using Launcher Pro or any other launcher.

didn't work :/
Ditto on the doesn't matter what I choose. Turned off sync ~2 months ago, removed all the crap from my contacts, etc. foolishly turned on facebook app and all the crap is back! sync still claims to be off but how does it explain the facebook fake info in my contacts list? (I have a friend with 012 345 6789 as their number on FB)
This would be fine but it also seems to find out of date info (on google!); So that mobile you updated, is now alongside that old one and which is which? I am visiting my sister for Christmas who now has 2 mobile numbers and 3 home numbers, Russian roulette anyone? I enjoy calling strangers for Christmas and asking them to pick me up from the airport!
used phonebook2.apk
go to contacts press menu and select contacts to view then select only contacts wid phone or deselct fb contacts from there...

[Q] deleting contacts

Hi
I bought a new xperia mini pro mobile and was wondering how can i transfer all my contacts from my old mobile to new one.
All contacts was saved in my old phone and not in sim. I tried to send all the contacts via bluetooth and it worked, but in the middle it stopped and only half of the contacts was transferred, i tried once again sending it but it was unsuccessful. I also tried to delete all the contacts in mini pro but i'm unable to do it. Searched in net how to delete the contacts and it referred me to go to settings, application, manage application and clear contacts, but there is no such option available as clear contacts under manage application.
Your suggestions and ideas will be really helpful for me. Thanks
You don't mention which os version you're on. On my X10a w/ 2.1 when I go into the phonebook I can press the menu button for the delete contacts and mark all for deletion. I think on the 1.6 version a long press on the contact will also bring up the submenu to delete.
Sony has a Sync app which may be on your phone. The web portion which you can use with a pc has instructions on how to configure and upload from your old phone and you could then tell the app on your mini to overwrite your contacts, after editing them if needed.
Also if your old phone supports vcf format and saves of all the contacts then you could put the file on your phone's SD card and import that.

you trying BT?? sounds weird that is not sending all the contacts
try the online version of SE backup

Duplicated contacts...

Hi!
I have this really annoying "bug" where every single contact us duplicated several times(most contacts have 5 duplicates!).
I could batch delete the duplicates, but the problem is they would probably duplicate again and again...
So, what exactly causes this problem?
Just for the record, my father has this problem too(stock S2). I'm currently running MIUI but the problem seems to not be related to the rom.
Cheers guys, thanks.

The Problem can be because you have configured multiple accounts with your Phone and each one of these has the contact data.
Try this and let me know if it worked.
Go to Contacts > Menu > Contacts to Display
Here select the accounts, the contacts of which you want to be displayed.
A more polished way would be to create an Excel Spreadsheet of all your contacts and then upload it with a name in Gmail. You can then enable only this list contacts to be displayed in the Contacts application.
In case it's not a displaying problem - I use Wondershare MobileGo for Android.
Intall the free version, connect your phone to the computer, open the program and under "contacts" tab there is a "De-duplicate" button. It will help you merge duplicated contacs.
There is a workaround for this problem. You can use Go Backup to take a backup of all your existing contacts.. there is an option to merge duplicate contacts as well.. after taking backup delete all your contacts from mobile; sync to server and then restore your contacts..

Thank you every one for help! However,I found the best solution to be Contact Remover Plus app(paid). It took five minutes to delete all duplicates.
Anyway, thanks guys, some good info here!

That suggestion about dealing with multiple Google account on your phone is good. Works for me. First, I delete the duplicate contacts on my Android phone and then extract them as Excel files. Finally, the data are uploaded to Gmail. Problem solved. Thank you so much.

[Q] Cannot copy SIM contacts to phone or sync with Gmaiol

Hi all -
My mom just inherited an AT&T Samsung Galaxy II (rooted, OS ICS 4.0.3, Build IML74K.117) and I am trying to move her contact from her SIM to her phone or, even better sync with her Gmail account.
From the Contacts app, I'm opening the menu and selecting SIM Management, then choosing Copy Contacts From SIM and selecting the option of the Gmail account (I've also tried selecting the Phone option as well). Instead of going to the screen where I can choose the contacts to copy, the phone just goes back to the SIM Management screen. (I took a screenshot of it but it's been 8 minutes and the text is still in Send mode on her phone.)
Any ideas on what is preventing me from being able to move the contacts? My next move is to take it back to stock and see if that doesn't help but that's really a last resort and something I'm trying to avoid.
Thanks in advance!
Lauren
Can you see the contacts when you log into her Gmail account on a computer?

Hi, thanks for responding...
No, because she is coming from a stone-age phone and has never had anything linked to her Gmail account before, which is also new. So in this case, I'm attempting to transfer the SIM contacts to her phone/Gmail account in order to A) get them on the phone in a more unified manner and B) sync with Gmail so that she now has an online backup of her contacts. She's coming from a Motorola Razr circa 2005. For real.
I couldn't say for sure, but the problem could be that the format in which the Razr stored the contacts is not being read by the SGS2 which is kicking you back out of the menu.
This is probably an old thread but no Gmail sync along with cannot send mms, indicate that you probably have no internet access.
Make sure you do have first, either wifi or mobil data turn on

Nope, the format is universal and can be read by pretty much any phone.
