Hi all,
Enjoying the new 2.1 update on my x10 mini pro but something is bothering me.
I came to the x10 from HTC phones and i still cant get used to the home screen nor like it on the x10.
Is there anyway to just have the home screen kinda like vanilla Android so i can place the icons on the screen myself?

I used 'launcher pro' which you can get free off the market to get home screens like on other android devices, it's got lots of customisability too.
My favourite is Zeam

I would like custom my Launcher Pro dock like we can see on picture from Sony Ericsson's Arc phone.

I don't use Launcher Pro so I am really no use!
However try searching google for "launcher pro theme" sometimes it can be helpful.
BTW: Since 405 people have looked at this thread, repeatedly bumping it is of little use!

edit: there was some issues with the correct image sizes, 'cause I'm using Go Launcher and it uses different sizes.

I am using Launcher Pro. Is there any widget or shortcut Icon that can lock the screen. I dont want to lock using hardware key.
I am on 2.1 Stock and saw many applications but all were for froyo.

I have rooted x10 mini build 2.1.1.0.6 that still has original roms. I just love the mini's original theme look. i do't want to change my theme. i know that there r a lotsa customized theme in this forum, but the problem is i don't like the small icons in the drawer. and one thing that i really want is dragable icons from drawer to homescreen in the original mini's theme. So please anybody could help me for this..sorry for my bad english..

You could try the experia arc launcher, follow the instruction carefully, it's a great launcher, quick and you can have multiple widgets and fully customizable homescreens!! Not sure about the size of the icons in the drawe3r, they seem to be the same size as the ones you get in most launchers. Give it a try!!

The arc launcher is one fot he best launchers i've used for simplicity, downside is that it has no landscape support which is the only thing that lets it down

OOOh, yeah!! I forgot, I don;t know exactly where it is in the x10mini forum, but somebody modded one of the arc launchers to support landscape!!! You'll have to do some digging, but it's there and the post includes screens. Im not sure it was on the first page though

Also, have you had a problem with your phone not remebering the sort by alphabeticaly?
I set it to the other options and it will use them options until i change it.
But when i do it by "Alphabetical" it automatically changes back after i've launched something.
I havent had that problem yet, alhough the problem I did have was that the launcher would forget everything whenever I restarted the phone!!
I realised I had been installing the app instead of moving it to the correct folder with root explorer and setting the permissions correctly.
just follow the steps they set properly (they are on the first post I think) and you will have no problem.
i personally think the "xperia active" launcher is better than the Arc launcher. u can have 16 shortcuts in the 4 corners of the Homescreen. multiple widgets, and a very nice iteration from the ARC launcher, that is, when u pinch to get the "widgets overview" mode, the widgets are not "stable" but are "floating" in the screen. VERY nice tweak. try the active launcher.
In my experience, the xperia active launcher seems to position widgets a little to the right in landscape mode (makes their right ends go off the screen.)

Now you mention it, i installed like any other app. never though of placing it into the system, will try that when i get my phone charged. Stock battery is gettig lame

First, I guess many of you realized that "Photo and videos widget" now in ICS for XMP is very "small", instead a bigger, nicer version for GB. Has anyone tried to port it to ICS? Just in case you don't know what I mean, take a look at this http://communities-origin.sonyericsson.com/message/190104
Second request, for ICS too, is that "effect" of old CRT TVs when you turn them off. Is it possible to add?

I have a big widget only!!! On my Mini! Many people complain about the small widget but i have the bigger one
So... nobody knows about it?
I think u can resize widgets on ics.isnt it?

I mean, that Widget was "large" on GB. Now, with ICS update, it became very small, so you can't watch them clearly.
Also, there's a mod when you turn off the screen, it looks like a old TV turning off... that mod was within Notification Widgets, and it looks nice and I'd like to have it.

where is this mod for ICS? Are you sure it is working on ICS?
Exactly that's one of two things I'm looking for... I know it's available for GB but haven't found it yet for ICS

And is it on GB? The status bar is like GB, ICS one is black.

The big photos and videos widget is one of my favorite widget too. And after i updated to ICS for my xperia active, it disappeared. Actually, the new android 4.04 only has the small one.
One pal share me the apk file, and i attached it in this reply. BUT you may need to do a little trick.
Firstly, install the widget. When you add it on Home Screen, there are two choices "large or small", choose Large one of course. After that your device will get bug when access page contain that widget , but don't worry about that.
Secondly, use the original uninstall or any 3rd apps, uninstall that widget.
Finally, back to the home screen, the photos and videos fill your screen.
Work for me, st17i ICS 4.1.b.0.431.

crt off animation was officially removed by sony, and no one working to port/enable it again..
