I just recently repaired the screen on my Htc HD2 and now its not detecting my cellular network or connecting to my wifi network. My sound has stopped working as well, but I still get sound if the headphones are connected. Any ideas on what could cause this. I have already taken it apart again and made sure that everything is connected correctly so I don't know what the problem is.
check if any of the connectors are broken and out back in the right place
Ive tried that and still having the issue
It's most definitely a bad connection. I had the same problem with Wifi after I replaced my screen. The antenna went loose when I put it back into the rubber case. Take the wires out again and make sure you "click" them back where they belong.
By the way, how was it with the volume button? I had to do it 3 times before I got it back and working...
I got it to go back on the first time

well try cleaning the part where you put the connections back, did you try flashing a new rom, that could be a problem too, tho i doubt it
little tip for the sound button,
ive had the same last week , was stressed because that's the only part that didnt fitted
i pressed everything in the cover but just half , then added the volume button from the outside
if you are replacing the screen you will know what i mean. sorry for the english
@brokendojca
i guess a connecter isnt fitted right or maybe something has broken
goodluck

ok so i have a tmobile tp2 and been having it since the first week it was released.
for the pass couple of days the call, home, and back buttons wont function like they need to.
also when i slide my keyboard up the screen goes completely black even when i close my keyboard, the only way to fix it somewhat is to keep pushing the sleep/wake button untill it turns back on.
my guess is that maybe something like a cable became loose and is causing it to have these problems, and i just wanted to hear what you guys have to say about it, or what you think the problem is and what you would recommend to fix it because i cant afford to buy a new phone for quite awhile.
Posting in the Accessories forum might not be your best shot at an answer.

Sounds like an app running to me. Even File Explorer (when searching the Windows folder) can cause my phone to hang for a long time. I would check in task manager to see if something is running. You can also try and app called "Clean Ram", it works great. The other option is a hard reset, to ruke out software issues. It could be harware, but I doubt it.

Very true.
It's likely a loose cable as you presumed. Hopefully you still have time left on your warranty.
I hate to be the oen to say it, but it sounds like your ribbon cable is going.... My son had the same thing happen on his Kaiser/Tilt (Grandpa to this Phone)... It started like you said... then got worse over the matter of a few weeks... His screen woudl only work when it was closed... the buttongs on the screen housign stopped working properly... then his memorycard reader (it was in teh screen part on that phone) went nuts... got to the point where that phoen was basically useless... I hope that isn;t your problem, but it sounds like it..

yeah i can pretty much say that it is the cable since i could still slide my keyboard but the screen just looks fuzzy like and when i close it, it takes time to adjust back to normal. so basically now its just an all touch screen phone to me now... sort of sucks since i miss using the keyboard so much.
and yeah the buttons got worst now to a point where none of them worked but somehow the back button started working again so thats the only button that does work now.
and a new problem started occuring in the last few days, the screen would turn on by itself with even a slight bump around where the battery is located, it really sucks for me cause it kills my battery faster and it just starts opening up random apps while its in my pocket.
I would like to hear what finally happened. People don't forget we are using WM phones. So no matter what the problem, hard reset before deciding!

wow super late response to this.
but my final verdict is that it was the flex ribbon cable that is the issue.
my TP2 doesnt even show anything no more, its still functional but you just cant see whats goin on with the screen because its like its turned off.
it stopped working on me on dec 25,2010 (what a great present from the phone, huh?) to how i described it.
so now im using my sisters old HTC dream, but even this one is starting to have an issue with the ribbon cable too! i just get bad luck with these phones now i guess.
edit: oh yeah i still have my Rhod210 just sitting on my desk till i get it fixed... oh how i miss my TP2!
Another late response then
Fixed it yet, have you?
this occasionally happens to my phone too, that it, the screen blanks out sometimes. the cause in my case is pocket lint. since it's hayfever season, i carry tissues in my pocket which kind of disintegrate to confetti after a while. while my tp2 is in my pocket, these tissue particles tend to get in behind the ribbon cable and cause some kind of blockage. by just blowing in around the ribbon cable area, it tends to clear out those fluffy bits and the screen is working again. so don't carry tissues in your pocket with your tp2

i actually took the time to open up the touch pro2 all the way today for a full diagnosis on it, and i was right. it was the cable. where the cable is exposed when it tilts, it looks like it sort of got stripped around that area. im not sure how but it left part of the cable exposed which im guessing is whats causing it to have the issue. i was taking a couple of pictures as i was disassembling it, but i forgot to take a picture of the cable itself to show you what i mean. maybe ill disassemble it again tomorrow so i can take a pic! =)
but yeah im still using the g1, and i finally fixed it! (ended up bricking a g1 so i used the other as replacement parts on it) but hopefully not for long cause graduation is tomorrow for me, and i MIGHT end up getting a new HTC phone as a graduation present from the family. so i hope that does happen!
ok so i reopened the touch pro 2 and took a pic of the cable to show you what i ment.
Hi All...
I was listening to some tunes on the Mozart today with my hands-free plugged into the device... and later when i tried playing audio songs over the speaker, it didn't output the sound.
To cut a long story short, even though i've plugged in and taken out the hands free numerous times, the phone still/always thinks that i have the hands free plugged in... thus no audio over speakers and i can't answer phones either without either plugging in the hands-free or turning on the speaker phone...
Any ideas on how to get this corrected?
Regards.
I have made an reset and solved the problem!

I soft-reset the phone multiple times without success... and finally did a a hard-reset, but the problem persists!
Frustrated!!!
Ok.... so here's it got fixed... FINALLY!
I was at the gym today and while working on a machine, the phone slid out of my pocket and fell onto the floor... And VOILA!!! It now works properly!
So if you ever run into this weird ****ty problem and have already tried putting in and taking out the handsfree/headset as well as soft-reset and hard reset... then just hold the device at waist length and let it fall onto the floor...
i'm guessing when you plug in the hand free, it actually push something down and doesn't come back up, that's why it keep on remains on hand free mode. Just my 2cent, probably a strip on the phone to see the hardware design.

That's my thought was... but i tried using a pin to touch every single pin i could find in the hole... but no luck with that.
Ever since i dropped the phone and it started working properly again, i haven't had this problem again...

A great way to solve a problem I will rembember that!
I solved this problem by using contact cleaner, just cleaned the headphone jack and all is working well!
This is definitely a hardware issue...
And how is banging Microsoft products will make them work? Do you mean the many, many software or their mice?
yesterday I decided against my better judgement to try and take apart my x10 to see if I could get to the speakers, it sounded distorted during phone calls when the volume was all the way up. I used the dissasembly guide here: http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/05/10/xperia-x10-disassembly-guide/
however once, i started reading the guide, i realized I had to basically gut the entire phone to get to the main call speaker, so i put it back together. all i did was take out the screws, removed the lower support and used a credit card to pry between the covers and worked my way down. thats as far as i got, I had the back cover off and then I reassembled after reconsideration. however, the phone didn't work when i turned it back on. I mean, it works and I can see the backlighting on the screen but no logo or anything. I know it's actually booting into android because I can unlock the phone by memory and proper finger placement without even having the display working. I hear the "click" when it unlocks my phone and the volume/updown beeps. i've even heard my personal set notification tone go off a couple times. however, aside from the screen not working (besides backlighting), it wont respond to a phone call or chime when you send it a text message. If i use a different phone to call mine, it rings several times until you leave a voice message like normal. so, its not acting like its off. so again, I know it's actually booting into android.
after further inspection I realized that there is a ribbon cable on the bottom right hand side (battery side up) particularly close to where the covers snap together. I don't know if I did it with the credit card swipe or the covers weren't aligned well when I snapped it back together but I can see one little trace with a magnifying glass and a flashlight where it was "nicked" or scored. one teeny tiny little thing and my phone is inop.... does anyone have any suggestions? maybe like where I can get that ribbon cable? I'd start over with a new phone but the ebay prices are ridiculous. this use to be an ATT free upgrade phone and now its discontinued. I really doubt you can fix a ribbon cable... im feeling pretty helpless here.
I think you should send to shop to get professional repair before it getting worse.
hi,
I'm thoroughly baffled here .... can anyone help please ? ... it's a long post I'm afraid, since I want to include all the info I can.
recently my beloved Legend suddenly decided it has no signal .. I get 'limited service' and the dreaded red 'X' all the time.
prior to this I had done no changes to phone nor had back cover off or taken the sim out. I have upgraded it to Blayos rom and all has been fine.
after some searching I discovered all the advice re bad antenna and a so called fix by shorting some terminals with a piece of wire.
(exactly which terminals was not made too clear though)
I am not sure though that I actually do have a bad antenna as I have cleaned the 2 under the bottom cover and 'lifted' the mating contacts ...
and have done the same with those under the camera cover.
one other thing I did was to circuit test all the 6 contacts in my phone, and they all 'ring out' ok ...
indeed they all ring out to each other, even with covers off, which suggests to me that there is a good circuit in the phone
still no service, but my GPS gets a lock pretty quickly, does it use the same antenna setup ? ...
I'm not even sure if it does really as I have read that phone will not work with bottom cover off, yet my GPS certainly does !
lastly I doubt it is the sim as it works fine in my wife's phone, but her's does not in mine.
over 190 viewings and no suggestions ...anyone please ?
in desperation I have changed my Radio from 7.13.35.05 to 7.13.35. 13 and got no improvement
Last act of desperation would be returning to stock...
If your not on airplane mode all the time I doubt this is a software issue.

Replaced my flex today. Followed instructions on here for replacing the screen excepted I removed the usb flex. Placed everything back as it should be taking extra care. Now my phone doesn't charge at all. And now I cannot get any signal. I went out earlier and it sometimes picked up a signal and then it just dropped off again. Dunno what is causing this issue :/
Edit: Also getting no audio through my speaker.

Did you ever figure out a solution? I have the same problem where the loud speaker doesn't work after swapping the usb. Everything else seems to work fine however, I actually thought i had damaged the speaker somehow when replacing the usb so replaced that as well and still no luck.
I just replaced my USB flex cable for the second time. The first one that I bought it from on eBay sent me a non original. The reception was so bad I couldn't use my phone at all... I just got the new one on the mail today (also from eBay, but a different seller) and all the problems have been solved. 100% signal, no charging/mtp issues anymore. I'm one happy camper. If anyone wants the name of the seller PM me.
