[q] rooting samsung vibrant (sgh-t959) tmobile version - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I recently used the "eugene" froyo update on my new unlocked samsung vibrant from t-mobile. it still lags sometimes and i was kinda hoping to find a way to make it faster.
I don't know if the eugene froyo update rooted my phone or not. under firmware version it says 2.2 and build number says FROYO.UVJK2. I don't know what the build number means either.
I wanted to downgrade from this 2.2 version back to 2.1 cuz i wanted to wait for the original release of 2.2, but i couldnt find a way to downgrade. I want to make the phone faster if possible, that is why i am posting this.
If anyone could help or give me a solution, please let me know.
Thank you very much.

use Odin and flash original 2.1 firmware.
all instructions are in the vibrant bible.

Or with odin? So basically im asking if i need to go back to an official firmware (jfd) before upgrading to official froyo or can i upgrade right from the leak???

Other than the fact that your phone will explode, everything will work out
Seriously though, there's no reason to get anxious. Everything will be okay.

Android 2.1 for AT&T

I know official 2.2 is about to be released next month from AT&T but i was reading on other forums that AT&T put an OTA update pushing 2.1 out a while back. I know they also canceled the update since Dell was working on 2.2 release. I can't seem to find any 2.1 AT&T update packages, all links seem to be broken everything. I don't want to go to 2.2 yet because it seems like it does have issues, but I wouldn't mind installing 2.1 on my while streak for now. Does anyone have that update package for AT&T that I could download and use for now? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
AT&T never had a 2.1 Update. To have that on a US Streak, you would have to download build 4399 for overseas version, then update to build 8105(2.1) again, for overseas version. You can look for guide to updating and downgrading either in General or Development section of Dell Streak forums.

[Q] how to upgrade official froyo from custom ROM?

I am using Nero V3 currently. I disabled voodoo and lagfix before moving into official froyo from t-mobile.
1. is there anything else to do before updating to the official froyo?
2. is there a different way that i must follow when updating ROM to official version from custom ROM?
3. if i update to official froyo, would this relock the device so i have to reunlock it?
4. is it possible to flash kernel from official froyo??
help me~~
help~
please help me~~
as far as i know....someone correct me if im wrong but you need to first odin back to stock 2.1 first then do the upgrade....

worked great for me
I played with this yesterday (official 2.2) Going from MacnutR14. Samsung Kies mini wouldnt acknowledge my phone unless I was running stock Ji6.
Test it out. I had ji6 handy from when the OTA update didnt take.

2.3.5?

I just got my Galaxy last week.
I see it is firmware 2.3.4
Has AT&T offered/sent the 2.3.5 update? If so, how do I get it? I have not seen any notification on my phone about it.
Also, I rooted my phone.
When I get the 2.3.5 update will my phone still be rooted after if I install 2.3.5 from AT&T?
Is it possible to update through Kies Mini? That is what I used for my Samsung Vibrant T959. But kies does not seem able to connnect to my AT&T galaxy s ii SGH-I777
OR do I need to root it again?
2.3.5 has not been officially announced.
the main reason for the update is the fix for the lock bug.
the 2.3.5 that is available im not sure if its leaked or user developed but its not Official.
Perception ROM is your best bet at the moment.

to my knowledge it is the only rom thats based off 2.3.5 and of course, like every other rom its rooted=)
I think we'll see more 4.0 roms sooner than we will any 2.3.5's if you want a higher os then flash CM7 and have 2.3.7

Is 2.3.3 really the latest software for bell gs2?

Been looking for an answer online and can't seem to find one, my girlfriend bought a used bell gs2 and when i plug it in kies it tells me it has the latest software yet it seems that 2.3.3 as been out for a long time and should have been updated by now no?
Thanks
Kris

If you check this thread here UGKG2 is the only firmware bell has put out, so if thats the one you have, then yes, thats the only firmware there is, blame bell for being slow.
If you want to flash a new upto date rom, follow this guide, it also has download links, KK5 is generally a good 2.3.6 firmware at the moment, dont go for the ICS roms, there buggy.
It also should be non wipe aka you shouldnt lose anything as its stock firmware to stock firmware, but no promises and you would be advised to backup stuff first.
