I am using Nero V3 currently. I disabled voodoo and lagfix before moving into official froyo from t-mobile.
1. is there anything else to do before updating to the official froyo?
2. is there a different way that i must follow when updating ROM to official version from custom ROM?
3. if i update to official froyo, would this relock the device so i have to reunlock it?
4. is it possible to flash kernel from official froyo??

worked great for me
I played with this yesterday (official 2.2) Going from MacnutR14. Samsung Kies mini wouldnt acknowledge my phone unless I was running stock Ji6.
Test it out. I had ji6 handy from when the OTA update didnt take.

I have survived a long time on stock 1.5 rom. Have been waiting a long time for 2.1 rom. Now that it is finally coming to me, I am starting to consider if I should just root and install all the other roms out there now, just in case stock 2.1 cannot be rooted....
any comments ?
I am using a singapore hero ..
2.1 cannot currently be rooted, do not flash it if you want to root.
Thread moved.
just root and install a 2.1 rom, theyr exactly the same but with a root features
yeah i was also gonna ask the same question .. it was running whole time on my mind ..
Currently i am on official 1.5 firmware , i am waiting for 2.1 update also i didn't root my phone yet but planning to what if i install official 2.1 update ? later i can not root Hero ? & can't install or flash any Custom ROM ?
Or root now & install Custom ROM ?
would just say you can not root after you upgrade to offical 2.1 from HTCs site or OTA or RRU file...
while you are on 1.5 root!
once you have a custom recovery you can flash a update.zip file that contains 2.1 offical upgrade minus the SPL upgrade and recovery and radio..
it would be just silly for anyone to install the offical update direct from htc. there have been so many threats about this...
hope this helps though
Hi there,
I recently used the "eugene" froyo update on my new unlocked samsung vibrant from t-mobile. it still lags sometimes and i was kinda hoping to find a way to make it faster.
I don't know if the eugene froyo update rooted my phone or not. under firmware version it says 2.2 and build number says FROYO.UVJK2. I don't know what the build number means either.
I wanted to downgrade from this 2.2 version back to 2.1 cuz i wanted to wait for the original release of 2.2, but i couldnt find a way to downgrade. I want to make the phone faster if possible, that is why i am posting this.
If anyone could help or give me a solution, please let me know.
Thank you very much.
use Odin and flash original 2.1 firmware.
all instructions are in the vibrant bible.
I am having T-mobile vibrant. but now I am not in US or UK. but in middle east. will I be able to update Stock Froyo through kies. (in my opinion not) if not than where can I download the original Stock froyo and flash to my Vibrant through Odin or any other method. I need original stock not any custom as my experoience with any of custom was not good (this is my opinion, I know developers have put a lot of hardship in that and I salute them for that) I went back to Stock eclair. and I need the Stock froyo.
download stock ka6 rom and flash via odin
Hey op iam in canada I was able to update through kies mini with np. So you should be good
Good day friends
I have the time trying to update the firmware on my vibrant of 2.1 to 2.2
and trying to kies mini but I get an error saying
"Device not registered"
to and otherwise upgrade the firmware 2.2 original froyo and not a custom rom
Thanks for your attention friends

Click to collapse
you could root and theres a stock 2.2 rom you can flash, its just exactly same as 2.2 if you updated with kies
theres a odin file aswell so you just go into download mode and do it, no need to root
Hello,
I have a stock froyo rom installed, so I have an old baseband. That is clear.
If I install a stock ginger rom using the LG official updater, will it update the baseband as well?
thanks
The Stock GB ROM from LG comes with the new Baseband.
Update to GB through LG updater and you'll automatically update to the new Baseband.
If you do not want to update baseband, you can still root froyo, flash a custom recovery, use the baseband fix and try out any of the custom GB or ICS roms from this forum.
Keep a nandroid froyo recovery as a backup, just incase you choose to go back to the froyo rom.
