Does anyone know how to remove the pirated Titanium Backup that was included in the LIGHT 001 ROM? I can't install a market one over the top, even if I delete the .apk; normally I'd use TB to remove a system app...
So, any ideas would be much appreciated.

Did you actually run the uninstaller as well?

Jerpelea was unaware that it was a pirated version when he compiled 001, he removed it from build 002. I would suggest switching to that ROM instead.
Yes, I'm aware of the newer ROM being cleaned up. It's too much bother reinstalling everything for the sake of one app.
No matter, after I deleted market's cache I could uninstall the included TB and reinstall it from the market.
Cheers anyway.

OK...I am new to Android. I have my phone rooted but am wondering how can I uninstall some of the junk that came on the Thunderbird. Stuff like Blockbuster and the Golf app. Also how can I change my boot screen? Any tips would be helpful.
Titanium backup,(suggest pro where u can freeze them) is the easiest way.

I downloaded Titanium backup and it says i am not rooted. I have ROM manager and superuser in my all apps screen.
I chose to install one of the custom roms that just removed the Verizon apps... Provided link below. Though did have to redo some of the root process after flashing the custom rom, but not a huge hassle. Plus got rid of the bloat thanks to adrynalyne
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000103
still learning this phone. Not sure if I am ready for that yet I do not even know how to flash to a new rom yet. I used the fast root method that just came out yesterday to gain root to the phone. I know....I am not hard core yet.

it ti backup there is a option to reinstall busybox. do that and you should be golden.
found busy box that seems to have worked. Do you have to have the paid version to remove apps?

free version is ok but pro is better... you can freeze apps first, if it messes something up defrost it and dont uninstall!
Thanks for the help guys. Do you think getting rid of the apps like Blockbuster, Golf, Twitter etc would do any harm?
I deleted mine with TiB, no problems...
now i just have to figure out how to delete them
can I use any uninstaller app from the market to do this, or do I need a special one? thx.
I believe you have to be s off

You could try SystemApp Remover (market link: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.danesh.system.app.remover&feature=search_result ). It only requires root and busybox for most devices. I say most because it requires S-OFF for the HTC Desire.

If it does, then its for the better. You could try Titanium backup or some root uninstaller like the one linked.
thx, I will try titanium.
Bloat freezer works well too if all you wanna do us freeze them. I use it to freeze some system apps.

Search this forum, there is a thread about removing bloatware using adb commands - no s-off needed.

EDIT: see here

I'm comfortable using ADB commands, but still if that can be done using titianum backup then using ADB seems just a hassle.

I did a quick search and found this: "Freezing an app prevents it from running constantly in the background on its own and pretty much makes it invisible to the system."
I would just freeze system apps that you don't want/need. You can just unfreeze if something goes wrong.
Like today my voice search was force closing on me and tried everything to make it work. Finally figured out it needed the stock browser to work, I had it frozen since I use dolphin.

so far uninstalled most of AT&T apps and everything is OK. good tip about the browser. would freeze it.
reboot to clockwork recovery, mount /system via partitions menu, attach usb to PC, adb shell, remove the offending APKs via the busybox shell.
/system is writable when in CWR's busybox.
Works for me with CWR 2.5.0.1, s-on, hboot 0.57 (original aria) and CM71
Last market 3.1.3 for installing in OR. For me it's more comfortable then apk because it's system application
Work without any problems on all versions of CM including CM6.3.0-RC3. Also it must work on any our ROM
Do you have an update to make the marker back to the old one froyo uses? The new one is very slow and I don't like it. Titanium backup doesn't work.

You should be able to use TB to restore the old market. Are you using Free or Paid version b/c free only allows 1 backup. I don't like the new Market either and use TB to restore 2.3.6. I am at work, so I can't upload anything but if no one does it by tonight or tomorrow, I'll get it in here for you.

You can reinstall the update gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed..you may remove the system apps you don't need from the folder system/app..or you can use this update (see attachment), which is gapps without many system apps I personally always delete. Before using it check if some you may need are missing.

Well, it depends on which ROM. CM6 uses the gapps update but I don't think the others do.
Another way to get the ROM's original market is to use Yaffs Explorer to browse your nandroid backups.
Here is the old market. Flashing it will replace your existing market. First remove any market updates. Then delete all market data and then flash this.
Backup first.

It has a modified MarketUpdater.apk which disables updates for the market app. It worked for me on my SGSII.
personally speaking, i prefer much more the stock market included in CM roms than the new version
i do like the filters option in the new version, but it runs so slow, even on my Nexus S
so, it's not only a thing of the phone, is the Market app itself, it has become too broad
Tried to go to my apps in the Market and keep getting this crap!!!
I get that after a fresh wipe and ROM install. I think it's a matter of Market talking to the phone and reading what apps you do and do not have currently installed.

OK well first relax. Issues like this are common when flashing custom roms. Your best bet is to do a full wipe and then reflash the rom. Also don't restore any system data at all as this can cause issues. Only user apps and data
Reboot! Always helps!
Same here factory reset worked

That happened to me once. I just rebooted and fell asleep. When I woke up it was fine
Guys I'm Trying everything!! I Reflashed a Rom and it was Working... Then All of a sudden it said Android market process Force closed, then I couldn't get to my apps again. I just reflashed for a Second time and its still Not working...

Hi, I know this problem. When you flash a new rom and afterwards apps were installed with a backup tool (e. g. titanium bu) and not with google market directly this error can occur.
When there is one app which was removed from market the error in your screenshot is shown. In my case it was the old version of "cut the rope". To solve this problem it is necessary to remove this link to the market or deinstallation of this app.
As long as there is a mismatch in the app-market-assignment it is also possible that you get the message that apps were not bought.
It is possible to un-link apps using the "rom toolbox pro". As far as I know it is not possible with the free edition.
I would make a nan backup and try to uninstall all apps directly in the market (on your PC not on your cell phone). Afterwards it should be possible to use the market on your cellphone. When something fails you can restore your backup.
Update: when you know which app is the source for your error --> use ur backup again and uninstall just the known erroneous app.
Its a lot of work

Hey Thanxx Alot man!! It Worked... Tried everything before your advice! Your the Man! Lol...
Hey guys,I used titanium backup to remove a system apps,is this means that system app was definitely removed from my phone?
From your question, I take it that you dont really know what your doing. If you dont know what your doing or know how apps like TB or Root Explorer can make your phone unuseable by uninstalling system apps that may be required by FW then you should at first freeze the app. By the way, the app in question was indeed deleted.

Yes it means it was removed, providing you have done what you said, as to the post above, let us know what app and we can tell you if it is important.
