I can log on to my samsung account online, but when I enter the same password on my galaxy to activate the tracking and erasing data function, it's saying "error processing failed". I've tried to reset phone to delete account and create new one, but just before restart it's asking me for password to samsung account, which doesn't accept. Any ideas
Think everyone is having the same problem.
Same for me
I thought I was the one, there must be solution or it's kind of bug which will be fixed in next update?
I did have the same issue, logged in online ok, couldn't get past password stage on the phone, I did 2 things, restarted the phone and entered p
Samsung password on the phone with wifi turned off, (it had bern on when it failed).
Not sure what solved it but it worked. And now the security settings are activated. Hope this helps

I originally created the account on the phone; never had a problem logging in to it.
What I did find though, having set up the remote access / wipe stuff, was that software update (which also uses your "Samsung account", was checking for stuff every hour or so; murdering the battery!
What I did, I switched wi fi on, because I had it on when I was setting samsung account on mobile and worked! It accepted password, so I reset device, activated security settings, but still can not access via samsung dive.

Same here, I set up my account through the phone and that was fine. However I'm not recognised by the samsungdive website.
Perhaps the link between phone and website is not working yet?
Mines an old account just logged in first time on this phone as normal .
jje
Works normally for me, no issues.
Is it because when I open Kies on my PC my it can't read the firmware version?
Anyone else who gets this error message can you check?
Guys I've reverted back to the UK firmware and everything has started working now.
I was using the German KDD FW.
+1.
I enabled with my usual username and password and setup account on the phone.
Phone wouldn't recognise that same password for the SMS notification setup.
Went to samsungdive, that site wouldn't recognise it either.
I did a password recovery on that site (same password), and then samsungdive would let me use that password okay.
However, that password that I now know definitely is correct still doesn't work on the phone.
completely stock phone.
Rebooting now to see if that helps, but not that hopeful. :/
Edit : nope didn't work. now it's stuck on and can't even de-select that protection because it says the password is wrong. I think we've found our first big bug!

actually not a new issue. Fixed:
http://www.amitbhawani.com/blog/setup-mobile-tracker-samsung-galaxy-s/
Site is correct that we should've entered a numeric password? I used swype and it just said enter 8 characters, and didn't make keyboard numeric. It accepts alpha when new password, but log in won't accept anything that isn't numeric

You can change the password from the actual Samsung Dive website. Just click on about me. Once you have logged in you are then able to change the password which also changes it on the phone.
I've changed password on samsung dive website to alpha and still nothing
I thought it had to be a numeric password? That is what I changed mine to and it worked with no problems.

Turns out the problem for me was Chrome. The samsungdive site doesn't work in chrome although it's fine in firefox.
Ok, I managed to log on to website and I have all options. I've used the same alpha numeric password, so don't understand why it hasn't worked before.
However it doesn't show my mobile number even if it's entered in my details.
Any ideas?
Hello,
I run my own website over ssl. I haven't bought a trusted certificate, but have generated my own root cert. From this one I have generated various other certificates for my servers and clients.
When I install those certificates on my stock Galaxy Nexus or my CM9 Touchpad, ICS tell me that I must set a pin/pw/pattern to unlock my device. It seems there isn't anyway to store certificates without enabling one of these unlock method.
Once the certificates are installed there is no way to reenable slide to unlock without removing the certificates from the device.
I don't want that. I have generated my own certificates and I have full control on them at the server side. If my device get lost or stollen, I just need to revoke them, and I can do this easily. So this type of security is useless for me.
I would like to be able to use slide to unlock or even "no lock screen" while keeping my certificates installed on my device.
Does someone knows a way to do that. Or give me some advices about where to search ?
Thanks for reading !
I have searched everywhere and didn't found any information about this.
Does someone know where the default security policies are stored ? are they stored as plain text ? are they signed ?
Same issue here dude:
No device administrators but still can't disable pattern lock screen
[MOD] [REQUEST] Avoid slider unlock on 4.0 with credentials
I found that using tasker and secure settings, I can disable pattern unlock even if I have certificates installed. The only problem is that the mod can't be permanent. After a few hours with pattern disabled. Android will ask you an unknown password to access your certificates. Reenabling pattern unlock via secure settings solves the problem for a few more hours ...
See also those links :

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28362
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24984
Well, I suppose it has some sense. Having a custom certificate means restricted access for a reason, and is also reasonable to ask for minimum credentials to the one that is using such device. You wouldn't leave the keys of the office of your work hanging outside in the door would you?
I keep the keys in my pocket, like my phone. No need to put them in a locked case. It would be annoying to have to find the key to open the case so I can get access to the key that would open the door ...
There's an app that disables your lock screen on the market.

Could you post the name or link please?
No Lock Screen.
There's one on there that you install using your computer, and it downloads to your phone and disables the lock screen. It's mainly for a forgotten password though.
I'm thinking that no lock screen is what you need.
That completely removes it though.
I suggest installing MagicLocker to replace your lock screen entirely.

That kind of applications don't work like supposed when Device Administrators are installed. Just after that custom unlock takes you anyway to the pattern or password. Try it.
This worked for me I agree with you: there's no reason that I can not have my phone without lockscreen protection just to sign into my school's wifi network.
http://anigan.wordpress.com/2013/04...password-with-vpn-enabled-stored-credentials/
PS: Diggin those thanks if this works for you
Just an addendum to toggling pattern lock on and off using root, when you disable pattern lock, the phone will revert to whatever the last lock method was. If it was "None" the phone will turn straight onto the homescreen. If it was "Slide" you'll see the side to unlock keyguard.
If you want to change this, go into Settings > Security > Screen lock > Slide then repeat but choose Settings > Security > Screen lock > Pattern. This effectively sets the 2 lock types the phone will toggle between.

Download 'Settings database editor' from play store it's absolutely free of cost . after installing you will see option system
Then go to: Tether_entitlement_check_state

Locked AT&T G5 works
Oh my gosh, thanks so much! I have a locked AT&T variant G5 and this works with no issues. This was the only thing I felt my phone was lacking, the ability to tether via hotspot. Now I can. Yay!
Thanks again for the fix!
Is there a good and somewhat easy way to root the h820 that someone might point me towards? I'm not that savvy when it comes to computer stuff, so the more detailed the better in my case... Thanks!

Hi, I have the same issue as the others, Hotspot works but no Internet. I'm in India FYI.
Wonder if there is some other setting that needs to be changed for Internet sharing to work..

I finally figured it out. Using the same Settings Database Editor app, click on Global settings, then "tether_dun_required 1" and a dialog box opens saying you're not allowed to do so, but to enter a command (it was really long, and I can't remember the exact language) into adb shell.
So I downloaded Android SDK and used the adb shell, and entered the command that popped up. I can now change the tether_dun_required state to "0" which enables the internet. The setting will reset each time you reboot, but you can change the tether dun state at will through the Settings Database Editor.
(You can also use adb shell to directly change tether dun required setting, but for me it reset to 1 each time after reboot, requiring using adb shell each time.)

Quick update
Quick update, I had to FDR my phone due to malware and when I redownloaded settings database editor, the "Tether_entitlement_check_state" was missing from the list of settings. I couldn't redo my hotspot option. So I just copy pasted "Tether_entitlement_check_state" (minus the quotations) where it said " add setting" and the set a value of "0". It changed the setting to "5" but I just reset it to "0" and all is well, hotspot re-activated. Thanks again for everyone's help in this thread, as I wouldn't have even known about this type of option. Now who's got root for H820?
Hi,
I have rooted android 4.2 tablet.
I would like to destroy my wifi.
If I will remove MAC adress (if it possible??) will it make the job? I thought that would be possible through software code. or remove some systems folder.
also, if there is an option to remove the wifi icon from status bar and also from setting menu that would be great. I will turn it off then remove those symbols.
I need help with those things. if you have other better ideas I'll be happy to hear.
Thank you.

This by far is the strangest post I have ever encountered in all my time on xda, anyway, I don't think it's possible, atleast with simple ways, for removal of options from quick tiles and settings you will need to mod the settings and systemui which will make it impossible to access wifi on/off option which in turn will remove wifi in a sense. But doing it takes some advanced knowledge on the workings and manipulation of Android system files.

I don't think any app will help you turn wifi off if someone intentionally wants to use wifi on the device, a firewall can only stop apps from accessing the internet. But maybe you can try a method that I am not 100% sure about but it worked for some people, go to build.prop the find the lines;
wifi.interface=
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=
And delete them, or if those lines aren't present then go to system>etc>wifi, find the files which are named "bcmdhd_" and delete them and reboot, but I definitely recommend taking a backup with a custom recovery before doing either of the two because these edits might cause adverse side effects or might bootloop your device, so use caution. Hope it helps.

I found that line: "wifi.interface=wlan0" but didn't found "wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=".
Anyway I deleted that line. At first WI-FI woreked well but after reboot it stoped.
Now it show "WIFI" symbol and I can enter to wifi interface but he can't find any of the lans available. and the lans I used to connect it say "out of range" even I near the router. That enough for me and that is what I wanted.!!
