I have a problem with my Vibrant. The light on capacitive button isn't glowing that bright or has a dim lit compared to other vibrant's button. Any thoughts?
Please guys, did anyone here have the same issue? or know how to fix this.
I have the same problem. I couldn't fix it. I think it saves battery though, so I don't mind.

Theres a minority of us with the N1 who use Desire rom ports and the soft key lights dont turn on. It appears to have always been this way with no one atempting to fix it, other than the gscript which doesnt work with 2.2. I have an AT&T N1 and kinda think it effects other att versions but dont know for sure, if you have this problem speak up. it would be much appreciated if an intelligent developer could look into this issue. The desire ports are great but not having the lights in dark rooms is rather frustrating and annoying.
thanks
I think this may have something to do with the phone's light sensor. My capacitive buttons (using eVil's latest desire 1.06t) kinda flickers sometimes but most of the time, it's off... Basically, the screen seems to light up pretty bright even in pitch dark and since the screen thinks it's in a 'bright' (since screen turns bright in the sun etc.) setting, it turns off the capacitive key lights... Can anyone confirm and maybe have a fix for this??? This is just my opinion and not sure if what I'm saying is true or makes any sense at all...
Cheers
Hi all
I am having an issue with the backlights behind the soft keys. Sometimes they light up, other times they do not.
Is this a common issue? Is it possible software related, or is it definitely going to be a hardware problem?
Many thanks
James

i started to get this also on CM7 but i also changed the backlight density to lower then it was from 20 to 1 so i think that might be the issue for me
I have WTFOMGBBQ backlit softkey lighting control on my aria and inspire, but ATRIX is okay (actually, it's always on when the phone is on).

I think I may have been embarrassingly stupid here. I did not realise the lights behind the buttons were connected to the light sensor. It is possible I have just been using the phone in light conditions right on the cusp of the on/off and hence, it can look a little odd.
I will keep an eye on it for the time being and assume it was me, not Motorola's engineering, at fault.
Thanks for the responses.
All of a sudden the two right capacitive buttons are only lit to about 10% brightness, the left 2 buttons are fine.
What the he'll happened?? I didn't do anything! Anyone else had this issue?
Sounds like an LED light burned out and you are seeing the stray light from the remaining bulb?? Just a guess. I don't even know if there is more than one light in the thing...
i haven't had that issue but i have noticed that as of late, when i come back from idle, the right two capacative buttons will light up and then a split second later the left two will light. Its not that big of an issue for me to take it into sprint for, but it can be kind of annoying.
All of my capacitive button lights went out once. Pulling the battery got it working again. Try pulling the battery.
Does anyone know how to dim and/or turn off the light on the capacitive buttons on our Notes?

Not sure if you can dim it but you can turn it off.
Settings -> Display -> Touch key light duration -> Always off.
I should have looked there. Thanks. It's the next best thing.
Dim option would still be great for the battery. I thought how wasteful the capacitive light is looking at it in bright sunlight (couldn't see the light at all) and all I've read in the i717 forums about the screen being the biggest battery hog.
It was a great option on my Sensation Insertcoin ROM.

The 4 LEDs inside the capacitive buttons use very, very little power. Turning them off won't make a noticable difference in battery life. The millions of LEDs and control circuitry in the screen, that's a different story.
Just turn them off. It's easy enough to memorize the position of each of them after like a week, so at that point it's useless to have them illuminated. I almost wish you couldn't see them at all when they are off and just have a complete white lower Bezel. That would be awesome.

I see on my S3 a bolt of light (2-3 cm), coming from the bottom center of the screen when the screen is black and i hit the back-button.
Is this enough to ask for a new unit? Does someone else experience this behavior?
