[Q] Ringtone length... - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know the standard ringtone length (5 sec, 10 sec, etc??) for the Streak? Anyway to adjust it?

Bump. Really interested in finding out before I start making hundreds of ringtones..lol

**** deleted because it actually didn't work. sorry ****

On AT&T you can control the amount of time your phone rings before it goes to voice mail.
You can call and ask that they change the setting OR try this. The steps outlined there work for my Moto Flipside on AT&T. The minimum is 5 seconds and the maximum is 30 seconds.
On my phone if I assign a ringtone that is too short the phone repeats it. Notification tones play once.
Edit: I believe the default is 20 seconds.

Thanks Marvin02, the link's instructions do indeed work for the Streak. The default is also 20 seconds as you said. Here are the instructions from that link:
Change ring time before voicemail – AT&T Wireless
Posted on December 22, 2010 by dale
Open your dialer and enter *#61# and then press the call button.
You will get back a message that displays the number that is used for your voicemail (write this down) and the current setting for the duration. If you want to change it dial
*61*XXXXXXXXXX**N#
where you replace the X’s with the number you wrote down (just the area code and number) and the N with the number of seconds (between 5 and 30) you want to pass before your phone forwards to voicemail.
Press the call button and you will get a message that call forwarding was set up.
To check that the setting was done correctly now dial *#61# again.
You should get a message that call forwarding is set to go to the number you entered (check to make sure it matches the one you wrote down) and the duration that is set.

Any reason this doesnt work on a Dell Streak 5? I've entered *61*555555530#
where 5's represent the area code and 7 digit number and 30 represent increasing the seconds from the defaulted 20 sec to 30 followed by the pund sign.
I am getting "Call Forwarding: Connection problem or invalid MMI code."
Ive checked the forwarding phone number and it is correct.

Why dose it not ring for longer

A simple question (I hope!)
It seems that my XDA only rings for about 3 rings before going to the voice mail. Does anybody know how to tweak the settings so that it rings for longer to give me a chance to answer the call.
Thanks in advance.
Primed
I'm also interested in knowing this even if I suspect its a carrier setting and not a XDA one...
Like Dragonli said, itś a carrier setting. There are special codes to do so. Don't know if they are different from carrier to carrier. Normaly the values are between 5 and 30 seconds.
Just take a look at your providers homepage and search for the string.
You can also try
**61*Phonenumber**Timevalue in sec (5,10,15,20,25 oder 30)# to turn it on
##61# to turn it off
*#61# to check.
This are the numbers for Germany. Hope that it works...
Regards
Stefan
In the US for T-Mobile it is:
**004*+15203319999**_ _#
Instead of _ _ put in time before forwarding, 10-30 seconds in increments of 5 seconds
Instead of 5203319999 put in the lead number for your voice mail (varies by location).
Thanks LumpiStefan!! Same for Belgium...
Thanks All.
I checked with my network and it's exactly the same for TMobile UK as it is for Stefan in Germany.

number of rings before answering

Can any one help the phone only rings 3 times before going to answer machine is ther any way of increasing this ,i have tried setting the auto answer but this doesnt do anything
It's not that the phone only rings three times, it's that the ringer type, only rings 3 times while the network sends 8 or 9 rings.
Call your phone and count the rings on your phone, and the rings on the network (on the phone you are calling from).
If that makes sense.

Hi,
This is not necessarily true.
Try this, as it is a Network Operator Default;
Dial;
**61*YourVoiceMailNumber**N#@
Where YourVoiceMail Number is specific to your actual Number not "121" (your service provider will be able to give it to you). N = number of seconds until it is routed to voice mail. This can be up to 30.
See http://www.cellular.co.za/gsm_hash_code.htm for full details.
This worked on my UK Vodafone account.
Hope it helps!

Extending Delay before going to Voicemail

If you are on Orange and find that you phone is diverting to Voicemail too quickly is there a setting in the phone to extend the length of time that the phone rings before being diverted to Voicemail... or does this require a call to Orange to set up.
I rang Orange and they gave me this:
- in the phone screen, "dial": **61*07973100123*11*xx#
"xx" is how long you want it to go on for before voicemail picks up (for example "20"
- hit the "call" key
This should setup the voicemail to come on after 20 seconds for example
Give that a try! Worked for me
Thanks for the reply, after searching through the phone and could not find a function to perform this I rang Orange and can confirm as above that they told me to input the same number.
This is probably specific to Orange but it does work... Thanks again for the reply
Excellent tip, many thanks.

Delay in ringing when receiving calls?

I have a Eris on VZW, and I want to see if anyone here experiencing a delayed ring? I.E. when someone calls you it takes 3 maybe even 4 rings before your phone rings? My last phone, WM i760 took 1&1/2 to 2 before the cell rang, and both are using the same ringtone. Is this normal? Is there any way I can decrease the amount of delay(on my i760 there was a phone code I could dial to get into a special phone mode to adjust the delay)? Thanks.
What can we do?
I tried some of the default ringtones and the same thing occurred.
not sure whether this is always the case, but i just tried it and there was like zero delay. instant ringing.
delay 3-4 rining.
but the LED delays "only" 2 rining.
AND(!!): wenn i am listening music with the headset, musik stop playing long before (3-4sec before) the phone starts to ring or the LED starts to blink
Normal tones (htc's tones) shouldn't have a delay. Mp3 or custom tones do lag.
This issue has been asked before, no way te resolve it I think but not sure.
You should try the search
Yeah I had a custom tone on my last phone and there was a phone setting i had to get into by dialing a number to fix improve it.
anyone try what was suggested it here. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=99307
Edit: I just notice that what is suggested in that link is the same thing I did for my previous phone and that worked well. I had it at 1 on my last phone and I have it on 1 on my Eris now. I just tested it, and my phone now rings about a quarter second after the second ring. It much better now. I was told with this settings change on this phone and with my previous phone battery life does go down a slight bit, but I never noticed it on my last phone. I hope its the same case here. Then again I do have plans to get a larger battery, which would kind of make the point moot.

It says on that forum by pjsockett linked to above:
##PST Send
Edit Mode
Enter 000000 Press OK
Modem Settings
Slot Cycle Index
Change Value (Lower values ring faster)
OK
Menu
Commit Modifications
Press OK to reset the device. OK
After that your device should reboot and you should be good!
Beware, Reducing the slot cycle can reduce battery life which could be an issue on the Eris.

How do you dial ##PST on the hero?
- I tried ## then dial, but that didn't work.
can you give a slightly more verbose set of instructions please? - bit of a newb on dialing codes into phone.
Many thanks.
dail ## and what ever number PST equals.
Any feedback on how much this is affecting battery life? I'm not sure if it's better to have quick ringing but worse battery life...

Anyone know where to get the ##PST - as in how do I find out what the PST number is?
Please?

[Q] Trouble sending pound (#) key in contact or speed dial

Has anyone noticed that when you put a pound key (#, aka number symbol, octothorpe etc) in a contact's number, it doesn't work? I.e. the # dtmf tone is not sent when you call the number, while other tones are sent properly.
For example, I set my voicemail number to *86,,5555# (the 5555 part is just for illustration, and should be filled in with the voicemail pin)
Whenever my phone calls voicemail, it says "Sending Tones 5555" but it doesn't mention the #, and I can tell that the # tone is not sent, because the voicemail system waits a few seconds after the password is sent, which is exactly what it does when I dial it manually and neglect to press #. When I do press pound manually, the system continues immediately without a pause.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or has anyone else been able to sucessfully send the # key?
hi, i haven't had this happen personally, but would puting space between the password and the # give the sytem time to receive it.? don't know if it will but i never had this happen either.hope this helps. hp
I don't think you can add spaces, but I added a comma (which indicates a pause) after the pin. That didn't help. Thanks for the suggestion though.
##7764726(spc=000000) and *#*#4636#*#* are hidden menus so the # may be handled special.
I actually noticed this today when I was trying to get through a damn automated menu. It kept asking me to hit the # key after things but kept telling me "Invalid Entry". I literally used every other button, to include * during the call and everything else worked. This is no bueno!
What version of Android and what Rom(if any) are you running? I am on 2.3.4 w/Eclipse v1.1
Thanks, AtLemacks, It's nice to know someone else has experienced the same thing (misery loves company I guess).
I'm using the same android version and ROM that you are. But I'm pretty sure I had the problem even back when I was using using P3Droid's Rooted Gingerbread without any ROM. I don't remember if I tried it when I was on stock Froyo.
I didn't have this problem before, I call/go through that menu fairly often.
did anyone figure it out?
I am suffering the same problem. Did anyone ever figure out how to send pound sign #?
Try a alternate dialer like Dialer One or the like.
Edit try voicemail *86, the # key skips to the next msg on my Milestone x2 port.
Found a solution
Found a solution, not sure if everyone can use it. I am using Motorola Photon with Sprint. My solution is to create a contact like this for google voice dial out
15125553010,,2,3235551110,#,,,1234,0118521234567,#
and it works for me. I can now use a direct dial icon on my home screen to call. The trick is the first pound sign. It needs comma before the pound sign and the three comma behind it.
Anybody else find a work around?
I am glad to hear that I am not alone, but a little dismayed to not see any answers to my days of searching for a solution. Has anyone else come up with an alternative work around? The direct dial method above didn't work for me.
Using a Galaxy S i9000 rooted with paranoid android 2.52 (although I did have this same problem with other mods as well)
Thanks!
