Help with "Magic File Mismatch:" - G Tablet Accessories

I get a "magic file mismatch:" when I boot so I cannot copy files to the device directly and I cannot get the sdcard to be read even after changing the command recovery file to say sdcard2

This is in the wrong area, FYI.
Did you install clockworkmod .12 or .13, and then try to update the ROM using one of the mods? If so, this is a common error as those newer cm's don't like unpadded boot.img's.
If so, Mrbobrowitz actually had this exact issue last night and managed to fix it by downleveling clockworkmod to .8 and then re-running the update.zip.

[Q] E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip-Samsung Vibrant

Hey everybody,
I apologize in advance if this post is a duplicate but I have tried searching for a solution and still lost. Here is what I did: I used the Odin to restore stock rom, then re-rooted using the one click method, then downloaded a rom from theunlockr.com, then used rommanger to install it. My rom has gave me no problems but now when I try to reboot into recovery to install something else(Like the 2.3 keyboard or a lagfix) i get this error:
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted
Can someone please help me? Thank you, BTW I have a Samsung Vibrant running axura-froyo-rom
I had the same problem too.
When I put update.zip at the root directory of internal memory... once I restart the phone (not get into the recovery mode), this file is missing / dissapear. So... I always got this message too :
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted
anybody can help us pleaseeeeee
I got my phone to factory settings using odin then i rerooted my phone and flashed the same custom rom back on and it worked. Try reflashing your phone, backup first, might work.

thanks for reply.
how to use factory setting using odin ? tick the "re-partition" box ?
can you explain to us step by step please ?
I'm so frustated
Did you guys delete the update.zip after rooting?
If you do not see
sdcard/update.zip using a file manager, download the update.zip from my noob guide, move it to internal memory and then try to flash CWR.
Also, look in the bottom of the noob guide (last few posts) for a solution to a RECENT issue with CWR... I assume whatever Koush did in the last update is causing this problem? BUT, there is a fix posted by another XDA user... just a matte of downloading the file and putting it in the right place.

listen to s15's post....he knows what he is talking about. i followed his noob guide in his sticky and everythign worked perfectly! his vids are also very helpful. one thing i have found that works a lot as well is if you download ROM Manager from the market and then click on "fix permissions"... don't know if this would help in this situation but i have had that fix weird stuff.

yeah this, the update.zip is ESSENTIAL for your phone to run the clockwork recovery, it stores all the things needed, and when you click "reinstall packages" your system goes in update.zip and looks for what to boot up and finds CWR and boots that so you see that screen.
Don't delete it if you did.
i have tried numerous times to root, but cant seem to get update.zip file in right place, can anyone help? thanks. challenged noob!!

When you usb into your phone it needs to be in the initial area of your sdcard.
You might have a bad update.zip file. Two things, verify the md5(if possible) from where you got it and check the properties and make sure it's not names update.zip.zip. The later is very common.
Try this method too btw, when I Odin back to stock I always use this one to root again. Follow the 'Automated Method' area.

you will need these drivers AND set your phone to debugging mode (settings/applications/development check USB debugging).

hey all,
Newbie here trying to flash a ROM, i am running into this same error, i have tried everything here and i have one question (might be a stupid question) but my root sd folder is called SD/, not SDCard/ ...is this a path error?
Please note it file must be in the internal card, not the SD card.
This step drove me nuts.
"2. Copy the update.zip (and the ROM) to the INTERNAL SD (not the external SD Card). sdcard/ " (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732458)
i ran into the same problem...how do i get from 3e to CWR?
here's what's shown in my vibrant directory: Android, DCIM, external_sd, LOST.DIR
i dont have an internal sd (the card) so it's not shown?
the path i got error on: /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip
1. when i tried to "reinstall packages" i keep getting the error that the update.zip file cant be found. should i create a folder for it or something? i think it's a matter of pathing but i cant find out the right place to put the file...(to get from 3e to CWR)
2. i see people suggesting boot with odin or sth like that...does that solve my problem and how do i do that?

You definitely have an internal sd card. Use Astro file manager or something similar and put update.zip on the root of internal sd card, meaning not in a folder. It should look like sdcard/update.zip. If you are having the 3e mismatch recovery issue read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423

i go to the link that you linked and ran the script. then i download the update.zip file at the noob guide with a slimbean 4.2.2 rom and addons. this time i would just put it in the root folder (technically not in any folder). when i try to reinstall packages, the screen shows that it is "replacing stock recovery with clock work recovery"... but then it would go back to the 3e.
so...i guess putting the files in the root folder is correct. but someone it still wont let me get tot CWR...

You have to reinstall packages twice for it to work properly. It is normal to not work the first time, just reinstall packages again and you should be good to go. If you keep having issues you should just flash back to stock 2.1 with Odin and go from there.

webtop 4.1.57

so i dont really know how to use adb, which is the primary method from this post. so it said i could just copy these files into my /system/apps folder using Super Manager. i did this. it says "no install". when i click each apk and click install it doesnt work. does this have to do with permissions? and how do i set the permissions?
install CWM from the post you had in method 2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019143), which can be installed straight from your phone. you must be rooted. then, download the webtop ZIP from that same post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=558897&stc=1&d=1301785902) and put it on your phone's internal SD card (the onen that says MB860 when you plug in to USB to your computer).
follow the instructions to install CWM properly and reboot into recovery mode, run from ZIP, select the webtop ZIP, and you're done.
all these steps are gone into more detail in the thread you linked to.
i did this. installed cwm. booted. found zip, clicked install.
says.
-- Installing: SDCARD:CWM-ATT-4.1.57.zip
finding update pacakge...
opening update package...
installing update...
E: syntax error in update script
Installation Aborted
i even tried putting the zip in the internal sd card (idk what the difference is, feel free to educate)
and same thing happened except now is says
--Installing: SDCARDINTERNAL instead of just SDCARD
also, nothing happens when i plug in my hdmi cable cuz the apks say "no install"
how can i install these! or get the script to work!
did you replace your original apks when you copied them over with super manager? when you plugged in the HDMI cable before everything, did it work (at least the entertainment center output)?
well i just recently flashed to 4.1.26. so it was working then.
then, yes, i copied the files over with super manager, which is when plugging the hdmi cable stopped working. so i then tried the cwm and it failed. do you think its because i had copied the files over with super manager?
is there a way i can just install the file? the right ones are there they just won't install
also im noticing that my wifi is buggy. like it'll say connected but wont have a connection. is this from flashing to 4.1.26? wouldnt updating to 57 have fixed this? i have to literally turn off wifi to allow the phone to use over network instead.
still stuck with hdmi prob too, dunno if this effected it, but after i flashed i used titanium backup to restore all the files. would this have reapplied whatever was buggy? it still let me update after i did the backup (in .26) so i assume whatever was stopping me from updating wasn't reapplied.
but still nothing when i plug in hmdi cable
The CWM will not work on the newest version of tenfar's CWM port. Koush removed amend support and now it only supports edify. Amend was deprecated as of Android 1.5. Fenny's mod uses this old method and will need to be updated to support edify.
greek to me? sooo should i find an older version of tenfars CWM?
i tried all different versions of tenfars cwm that are posted on his thread. none work

MOTOA4_Bootstrap_0404_1755-signed.apk should work.
it doesnt same error
so i think i successfully installed adb. went to the command prompt and typed in some of the codes. i didnt bother with the 4 lines which rename the current files for backup since ive already copied over them a couple of times trying to manually move the files. but successsfully copied the 2 apk's, the rebooted. STILL says "no install"

[Q] Problems signing an update.zip

Hi! I'm trying to help a friend of mine who's phone is stuck on a bootloop. Problem was she flashed Pimp My Rom stuffs but she did not download the uninstall flashable zip as well. She does not even have any clockworkmod recovery. The phone's manufacturer is totally not mainstream and does not have any update.zip available. What I'm trying to do for her is to create a flashable update.zip that's flashable via stock recovery. We have a system.img and I'm aware that we can create an updater-script. The problem is, I don't know where the system partition is. Any way we can do cat proc/partitions or mount via recovery to find out where it is? TIA!
UPDATE:
I found it! It turns out to be at dev/block/mmcblk0p12. The problem that I'm having now is I'm getting errors whenever I attempt to sign it. I tried different tools--sign em, auto signer, Sign+...all to no avail. Any ideas?

Help Needed, Updated Software, Won't Boot!!

Hello all, I have a Rooted, S-Off Sprint HTC Evo 4g LTE. I just updated the firmware to latest, then wiped the phones cache/dalvik cache/system/etc and tried installing 3.16.651.3 (latest afaik) which is stock/odexed/rooted. Phone will not boot past the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" screen. What do i do?
also just updated to TWRP 2.5.0.0
OK so I have TWRP 2.5.0.0 with both the latest firmware package and the latest software package on the root of my SD card. When I mount the sd card I can change the name of the packages to PJ75IMG.zip. Once I do that, I unmount the storage and reboot into bootloader and it says "no image or wrong image" for both the firmware package and the software package when they're clear as day properly named and in the proper location. IDK what to do to restore this phone. Its been wiped clean and as of now is as good as a paperweight. PLEASE HELP QUICKLY!
Do you have two PJ75IMG's on your external SD? You can only do one at a time.
Also, make sure you're not renaming them to PJ75IMG.zip.zip... Windows will sometimes hide extensions for known file types. So if windows knows its a .zip file, it won't show the .zip, and you'll rename it with a .zip at the end, and then windows will add another .zip....
Just a few things to consider...
What two files are you trying to install? I'm guessing firmware is one, but what's the other?
Also, are you sure your phone is S-off?
+1 to what was stated above. You can only install one PJ75IMG from the root of your SD card at a time, otherwise the installation will fail.

[Q] I broke it

Hi guys!
I was hoping one of you could help me.
Yesterday i modified a build.prop file on my NextBook EBM8000ND (Next800T) tablet, causing it to get stuck in a bootloop every time it's turned on. I've been searching the Internet all day long but it's hard to find support when you have a device which no one in the world uses . It was rooted but I did a factory reset hoping that it would fix it. It didn't and now it's also unrooted. I tried to make a custom update.zip with the backup of the original build.prop file but the stock recovery simply refuses to load any update file. It always stops at verification. I used 7zip with store option. I tried signing the zip, I even edited the updater script to only print some text on the screen but the recovery still wouldn't load it. I tried to find a way to install CWM using sdcard but with no luck. When i tried to use ADB in recovery the device says: "failed to open driver control: No such file or directory". It might be worth mentioning that I found my device's ROM online with boot.img and recovery.img files and a .tar file which contains the original system folder.
Is there any way to make the stock recovery (since installing CWM or TWRP seems impossible) read my update file? Or is there another way to fix this? I only need to replace that single file.
Hoping to get help soon.
Cheers!
