So I'm going to maintain the latest and greatest version of Blinky in the Captivate forum, but I didn't want other users to miss out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854721
This should work with any ROM that supports neldar's BLN patch, though some ROMs replace the library on boot.
ROM maintainers - Contact me if you want the source to the lights library.
I need some help for my next version. Could someone who knows how to use adb pm me? I have some instructions for them.

I'm sorry, but I don't know. I only have a captivate, so that makes testing on other phones and ROMs hard. All I can say is it should work if you currently have BLN, but a first hand report would be appreciated.

As far as I know the only BLN kernel that will work with nero is TWs DoW kernel with BLN support.

Works on mine using Nero and Eugene's kernel. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be keeping track of the Captivate thread now. Can't wait for fading effects!

Thank you for testing this out and reporting back.
So as to the fading, I spent a lot of time trying to make it work yesterday. The issue is the time required to write to the interface to make the lights turn on/off is so long, that fading can't really be done.

I put this together for my theme, but I figured I would share a stock version for those who don't do themes or might want to use it as a base for their theme/rom. I edited the text below the mobile data and auto rotation icons to read "Data" and "Rotation" so that everything would fit neatly on one line. All that was edited was the twframework-res.apk so feel free to flash the zip over your deodexed rom (even if you have applied an accurate battery/reboot options mod). You probably will not want to flash it over a theme, as it will change most of the expanded statusbar (minus a few .pngs that are dependent on the framework-res.apk).
Big thanks to DtachD for helping me sort out an issue with the padding.
Awesome! I don't see it available for your theme yet. Hope it will be soon .
Great work sir. I like the cleaner look but I seem to have a problem with the auto-rotate button: once I turm it off it won't come back on even though auto rotate works.

I just reflashed to test and had a couple of the guys on irc as well and none of us have that issue. I'm assuming you flashed it over a deodexed rom. If not, that's your problem.
Flashed this over Superclean 2.3 non-voodoo.. looks great.

voodoo should have no effect on it whatsoever ..... try reflashing it. It's worked fine for everyone who has tried it.

Nope, still the same. Just reflashed using the new red cwm included in sc 2.3 & on reboot the auto button shows on but once you toggle it off it stays off even though the auto-rotate works. I forgot to mention that I am using adw launcher (not ex) though. I will try it on the gb launcher that came with the rom & also try to re-d/l it as well.
UPDATE: Just tried it on stock launcher & tried a fresh d/l flashed after a dalvik & cache wipe-still the same. Button goes off & never comes back on even though the feature itself toggles-not a biggie as long as the functionality remains.

Would you be opposed if it was included in superclean 2.4? Full credit given, of course.

Do you think you could share which files twframework-res.apk you modded? I'd like to incorporate this into a rom and your help would be much appreciated.

Because he obviously wants to know the method used here to implement this on a current rom. It seems to me he has a very good reason to "revive" this thread.

renf has a valid question..just wants the edits from a previous mod to be able to use with newer stuff..i dont see why you are attacking him over it
in fact almost all of your posts go like that...why bother
@renf...i have the edits saved somewhere for my own use ill try and dig them up at some point
Below please find a kernel compiled from the EC10 and ED01 source drops. Source code is here: https://github.com/jt1134/linux-2.6-fascinate/commits/froyo/
Enhancements:
Voodoo Color - Supercurio ** http://project-voodoo.org/color
Voodoo Lagfix - Supercurio ** http://project-voodoo.org/lagfix
Voodoo Sound - Supercurio ** find Voodoo Control app on market
Backlight Notifications - Neldar ** find BLN Control app on market
Tiny RCU and lowmemkiller patch
Slightly undervolted
interactive cpu governor
other misc niceties, read the commits
The "TW" kernels can be used with any TouchWiz based ROM. The "AOSP" kernels can be used with any AOSP based ROM such as CM, Vanilla FroYo, or MIUI.
As my Fascinate is now deactivated, there are obviously some things I cannot personally test, but these kernels have been tested by a few folks successfully.

You can still run that kernel with disable_lagfix file in place. Not much need to build seperate kernels in my opinion.

Probably not but you might as well just flash super clean, it's only one extra step after all. Better safe than sorry until dark revenge compatibility is confirmed.
Edit: This reply was irrelevant by the time my submission went through. Apologies.

Meh...maybe I'll just flash it anyway, and if it DOES brick my phone, I'll switch back to SupaClean.
I flashed a buddy of mines captivate with a Phoenix Rom awhile back, Just upgraded him to continuum V6 and there is something I noticed that i wouldn't mind having on my Vibrant.....
While running the phoenix rom.... his button lights would stay lit if he had an unread message. When I flashed continuum.... it did not have that feature. He was a little blue about it but life goes on...
does anyone know how to do this?? Is it a tweak in the mms.apk? I actually think I would like this feature.
You just need to flash kernel that supports bln and download the bln app from the market, yeah?

just search BLN on the market
Can someone steer me in the direction of a good OC UV BLN kernel I can use with CM7. I was running biffmod with the 1.7 oc and BLN but it was old apparently and wasn't able to work with the app? I've been using a bunch but so far have been left craving a better one.
Thanks guys

true..but v13 is well worth the 5.00 to upgrade.
Thanks guy.
Just loaded up the RC updater, and installed the latest glitch v13. The phone reboots everytime i go to plug the phone into my computer.
Any ideas?
i run CM7.1 with the glitch v12 kernel (in development section)
use this app to configure BLN

source: from glitch kernel post in development section
I have glitch Kernel V13 on miui 1.11.25 and BLN app does not work well, the sotkeys light up for only one second and then go off! Any idea for solution?
Glitch v13 is also openly posted here in the dev thread. Use the ftp link to obtain it and get the app anyway to support some hard workin MoFo's

Been looking all over; maybe I miss-looked. I'm looking for an up-to-date kernel that supports BLN(Blink light Notifications). The latest one I found was from Jan 2012. If there is not one available; what do I need to add so I can compile my own kernel to do this.
Thank you for the help
-SgtPropain
should probably put this in q&a forum. where it'll be seen and addressed. this forums is for development
Isn't that built into cyanogen mod?
I put this here because it looks like I might have to compile my own kernel, which is development if im not mistaken. BLN is built into the kernel kinda like s2w.

Okay sorry about that. Anyways does anyone have any insight on what needs to be done to a kernel to bake in BLN?

I don't know if this helps:

No that is for controlling the LED; I'm looking to control the backlight buttons. Think sweep to wake but used for notifications. There is an app specifically made for this but requires a kernel with BLN support.
