I wanted to unlock and use my phone in asia gsm so I called t-mobile and got the unlock code. The only gsm sim card I can get right now to unlock worth is att.
If I use att sim and unlock right now does that mean it already unlock to all gsm carriers or just att ?

If at&t sim is working. You should be able to use it with other carriers. Meaning your phone is now unlocked.

I unlocked my sim.what does this mean to me now? What can I do? Can i put my sim in any phone and it will work? It means you can put an AT&T sim in and use it; whooptie doo.

You don't unlock the SIM card, you unlock the phone itself to use a different carrier other than the one it was locked to . (IE- Samsung Vibrant is locked to T-Mobile, unlock it and you can use a AT&T SIM card in it and it will run on AT&T)

When you say unlocked, do you mean the bootloader or the sim?
If its the bootloader don't do the update. From what I have read, you will soft brick your phone.

Its the sim only i guess then....what i did is i bought an unlock code from cellunlock.net and unlokcked it by inserting a sim here in India...

If I unlock my note (AT&T) will I still be able to use my phone with AT&T? I know if I could use Tmobile on it once it's unlocked... But it will be using edge until I root the note and flash a Tmobile radio or flash....
So again if I unlock the note, would it still read my AT&T Sim card?

Yes, you can continue using it on ATT.
I have an at&t htc one and a friend of mine wants to use it on their go plan. Do I have to unlock it or not and what all do they have to do to get a sim card to fit it

No need to unlock the phone, you just need a micro sim card and is ready to go.
If I have a HTC one unlocked and rooted with s-off can I change my carrier without buying a unlock code.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your question. If you mean unlocked meaning the boatloader then not necessarily. If you bought it, or it was originally purchased, from a carrier you will most likely need a sim unlock code but if it's not carrier branded then you should be okay.
