Just got an Optimus one from Orange and I've noticed the GPS cant get a lock indoors. My old Nokia was able to do this so I'm just wondering if I have a faulty unit with a weak GPS antenna. Anyone else with a Optimus One able to get a GPS lock indoors.
Indoor GPS lock means nothing.
Does it works well outside? Is it precise? That's what you should be looking for.
It does work outside. It's just a lot of phones I've used recently have been able to get a lock indoors so I'm wondering if the GPS in my unit is faulty. Anyone with an Optimus one care to comment?
Cheers.
... i have experience with lot of gps receivers (over 100 ) , & my opinion is, that optimus one has one of the best gps (fast, precision...) much better than nokia, mio etc....
Same here I agree with you.

Hello,
Does anyone know of any antennas or other physical devices that I can use to boost my cell phone's signal? In my apartment in Connecticut, I drop calls all the time while talking but it doesn't really happen anywhere else so I only need to improve the signal in my place. I remember I used to have an actual antenna for my old Nokia phone that would stick to the outside of my car. Also, I once had one of those signal boosting stickers that went on the back of the phone.
If anyone knows of any reliable way to boost the signal on my T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 in Connecticut that doesn't involve flashing a new radio, I'd appreciate it. Thank you!

Did you wait for the sticker to boot up?

let me know how it works! haha
maybe try a different radio?
I know Best Buy sells signal boosters but i remember them being a bit expensive.
unfortunately our devices don't have an external antenna jack, i know the kaiser (original tilt)
Thanks guys.
As far as radios, do I just keep trying one by one until I see an improvement? Is there one that is known of that is stronger than others? The Fuze forum has a thread with people's results voting for which was best. Nothing like that here.

Yes, exactly...you'll need to try out the ones that are available for your model, and just see which one gives the best results in your situation/location. You can read votes and recommendations all day long, but they can have no relation to what results you will see
THIS thread has the complete list of radios available for the Rhodium
Unwiredsignal with a Desktop kit 801247
You can try a Wilson desktop cell phone signal booster. It might work for you. I have one in my home office... (basement) and it covers that area only (20x20) so I think it would be perfect for an apartment. I havent tried it in a larger area, but Unwiredsignal.com says it will cover a one to two room area. There is no physical connection to your phone.
Hope this helps...
Jacob
Both ATT and TMobile offer microcell. Trialing in various areas.
It uses your existing broadband connection to relay calls to your phone.
Looking at ATTs' website it appears to be $150.00 for the equipment.
Here is a link.

Thanks a lot guys. I'd hate to have to pay 320 for the one on Unwiredsignal.com but I'll look into it.
Hi folks,
sorry to ask a rather silly question, but I am considering getting the htc incredible 4g lte (Verizon)
Pretty much everything looks bad ass, but I am curious as to if it uses a real GPS signal, or a simulated gps like an iphone (i had a iphone 3g lol and gps sucked)
Anyway, I am moving from an LG Mytouch 4g (tmobile)
I want real GPS for both driving, hiking and such and don't want a gps dependent on the cell signal like the iphone seemed to be.
And I also want a phone with much development support for rooting and etc.
I've been having trouble determining if this phone has true GPS or similated, much help would be appreciated.

Yup, and its damn accurate. Deep in the local mountain ranges at over 8000 feet I can get a signal as long as I'm not standing still. I downloaded the local Google Maps to be available offline, then when you look at the downloaded map it shows the little carrot going along the trail I'm on perfectly ;D

lol free with 2 year verizon agreement through best buy ( VS ) the $99. with 2 yr through verizon.
yes its real, and it works very well
Yep, my GPS works great here where I live in the mountains too, but I thought I might mention that my compass doesn't work well at all! It may be that I am in a weak magnetism area or maybe its just my phone. But that doesn't really matter to me right now.
Hi, I've been comparing my hox+ with my old hox in regards to navigation, using GPS status I can get less than a meter accuracy on the hox but only pick up around 8 SATs, on the hox+ I can pick up more than 17 SATs but can't get less than 4meters accuracy, now if there was a connection problem then I can't see the phone picking up 17 SATs and getting a fix within 30secs, can I get some feedback from other hox+ owners to see how accurate your phone is before I decide whether mine is busted or something, I've recently had the screen and unibody replaced, mobile signal and WiFi are working brilliant, so I think its an issue with the phones hardware, but hoping I'm not the only one as I've only had my phone back a week, not even used it hardly since purchase.

As long as you're GPS is picking up satellites it's working fine. All you have to do is modify the region servers by editing the GPS.conf file found in system/etc.
Lots and lots of threads on this already but you could easily just compare the file to your hox and enter in the same settings.

I am trying to decide between the m8 and the lg g3 for my next phone. I am coming from a galaxy s3. I use the gps on my phone quite often for work. How is the accuracy, signal lock, lock on time, etc of the gps on the m8? On my galaxy s3, it was pretty solid. I could get locks in 10 seconds or less and would be accurate within 10-20 feet. Almost never lost a signal unless going through a tunnel. For those that use their phone gps several times per week, how does the m8 compare?
Thanks in advance
Had my M8 since May 9th, have yet to see signal lost and I use GPS on average of 3 times a day

From inside my house, locked on GPS in 5 seconds, accurate to 12 feet. (Actually, that's pretty good even with the AGPS. )
The only trouble I ever have with it may be more related to my Jaybird Bluebuds
X Bluetooth headphones not giving me turn by turn directions when I near my destination... without those headphones, or with wired headphones, GPS is great.

i use my M8 for navigation 10 hours a day 6 days a week non stop..i occasionally get a GPS Signal lost alert once every 3 weeks..I cover a very large territory than most people(north FL-Jacksonville to The Keys weekly)Other than that its been great.
Best GPS I've used out of all 20 android phones I've owned.

I use it for running with mapmyrun all the time. It's been flawless... never had an issue.

I was just browsing this thread while looking for info on getting the files to unlock the bootloader on my new M8. I wanted you to know that I gave you thanks, because of the fact that you don't accept personal donations, but instead recommended that people donate to a charity of your choosing. The world could use more people like you.
Ok, I'll try to get to the point as simply as I can...
I live on the moors, signal is awful, o2 (UK) is the ONLY network to have any reception at home, yes we have tried others, nothing else works!
Now, over the past 3+ years we've discovered a pattern, all android phones have had unbelievably bad reception. My cousin has just bought a new Moto X force (droid turbo 2 in us) and seeing as the antenna is on the outside like the s6, HTC etc we had hoped for the signal to be good (and that Motorola have been playing with aerial tech longer than most) but it is almost unusable.
The annoying thing is that my uncle's iPhone 4s is brilliant, almost as good as some of the old "dumb" phones, it just works, OK no way does it get full signal, but by far enough to make calls and text, where as 90% of the time the other android phones have nothing. I'm NOT comparing "bars" here, I'm comparing one having signal, and one not.
Now, we have tried this list of phones, and they're all pretty much the same
HTC wildfire
HTC Desire
HTC Desire HD
Nexus S
Nexus 4
Nexus 5
Nexus 6
LG G3 < the worst signal by far
Moto g (2013) < best out of the list
Moto X Force
I have before now tried different basbands on a couple, phone cases off, cases on etc but cannnot figure for the life of me why the iPhone just works so much better than everything else. Any suggestions? What android phone has the best radio? I'm just lost and need answers :/
And just to point out, I am not biased toward IPhone, never personally owned one, and never will.
Inb4:
Why don't you get a signal booster
Why don't you use WiFi calling - we live on a huge farm, wouldn't work
It's just a placebo - No, it really isn't, next to each other in a weak area, one has signal and can make calls, one cannot.
