Cant install JIT, getting permission denied - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone
I been trying to get JIT on my newly updated rooted 2.1 x10a, but I cannot seem to get it to install.
I keep getting different permission denied errors, and the command prompt disappears. I am using the 2.1 optimiser_002.
I do have superuser and rooted access, as I been using Titanium Backup with no problems removing system apps.
I have the Global 2.1 rom on my x10a with AT&T.
Thanks!

On the phone right now, but have a look at the first post in my Rom thread and try that, the optimiser and the customiser didn't work for me.

Thanks xperia, ran it through terminal emulator, worked like a charm! Got a max of 765 in quadrant.
One more question, how can i install apps 2 sd card? I been playing a bunch of games like crazy and I wanted to store them on my sd card, as I am investing in a 8gb card soon.
Thanks!

I just tried this and now my phone is stuck on the boot up screen and will go no further. It keeps on over and over showing the Nexus "X". What do I do now?

ha, I plugged it back into the USB and kept hitting options in the x10_2.1_Customizer_v0.99.1 exe. Finally the phone booted up normal and has now been working. Seems to be fine and I checked quadrant. I scored a 723 so I guess the JIT is in! lol.

Strange Problem with Rooting Vibrant

I have a T-Mobile version of Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant.
I followed a guide here:
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7150299&postcount=1
I can get into the recovery menu and I can see the option to reinstall packages. However when I press a power button to reinstall packages it seems like something is happening and it takes about 3 seconds and then the phone reboots.
I tried to use titanium Backup and I get a message it can't get access to root. I am assuming that am still not rooted.
I tried rooting with this method two times and it seems the result is the same.
Anyone has any idea?
thanks
Okay who is going to be the first one to flame him?
Have you tried using Ryan Za's OCLF app in the market?

Ignore some of the idiots above me
But that is normally how long it takes.. It doesn't take long at all for it to work. Just go to apps on your phone, and look for an application called "SuperUser"
If it is there then you are rooted, and for apps that require root, there will be a little box that pops up asking for permission

Why are you going to flame him? None of the stickys have been updated with any information regarding root information for JI6.
Some people have issues, while other people do not.
I visit this forum everyday and still haven't found any definitive information about rooting on JI6...just people saying "hey try this" or "try that".
Goofing around without knowing what you're doing is the easiest way to jack up your phone. If he messed it up just following a thread by 'Billy-bob-Joe' then you would probably be the first one to flame him for not asking for help before he tried anything.
Cut the guy some slack.

I had the superuser application even before I was trying any rooting.
I also just tried another tutorial for one click root and another tutorial where a rooting is done from a apk file from within the phone but nothing seems to work.
Some people have the same problem at the one click root thread but there is no answer to that.
Thanks Tarzanman
I am assuming JI6 is a firmware that I have.
As of this post JI6 is the latest firmware for the Samsung Vibrant.
T-mobile is sending it out over their network ("OTA"), but you can also obtain the update via Samsung's (very buggy) Kies or Kies Mini software (assuming you get the software to recognize your phone properly).
It is called JI6 because if you go to Settings|About Phone|Baseband Version
then phones running this firmware will read "T959UVJI6"
Tarzanman thanks for your explanation.
On my phone is actually reads as: T959UVJFD.
Can this firmware be rooted?

Yes, JFD is the stock ROM. You might as well get JI6 loaded on to it, as loading it on after will reset your root priviledges anyways.

you followed the steps on this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7150299&postcount=1
make sure you DL the file on that thread, and follow its steps!
1) make sure you rename the dl'd file "update.zip"
2) make sure you have the file in the internal memory of the phone, not the SD card
Try it again, and let us know!
I have never had a root problem, though I do find it strange that you had "superuser" prior to rooting.
You have a brand new phone? or did you buy it off the internet somewhere? There's no way new phones have "superuser" on it already.
If you've already tried to many methods, i'm guessing one of those ways you tried installed superuser on the phone without granting you root access (which is weird too)
From the General Sticky (and it works regardless of JFD or JI6):
HOW TO ROOT
justadude had a great post on how to root. Please read his post. I have used this method about 10 times and it always works flawlessly and it's just so incredibly easy.
Be sure you are placing the file on the root of your internal memory (sdcard/). This is possibly the easiest phone ever to root.

The phone was bought from second hands. It was locked to T-Mobile. The guy who i bought it from unlocked it and claimed that he only used it for one week.
The phone came with superuser app. It is part of the phone and not a 3rd party application. I cannot remove it. I thought it was part of the stock apps that come with the phone.
s15274n, yep did that at least three times now with no luck.
Just to confirm. I am putting the update.zip file on the root of the drive that has internal memory of the phone, not the SD card. I am guessing if I was putting it elsewhere then the recovery menu will not see it as install packages option.
I am lost. Perhaps the dude that sold me the phone messed something up somehow and now because of that I can't root.
Thank you for helping me guys.
s15274n
Can you tell me something?
When you select install packages how long does the process take before the phone reboots?
For me it takes about three seconds.
It really does not take long at all.... several seconds sounds about right.
Are you renaming the file on your phone, or the pc?
My concern is you are renaming it update.zip.zip (because your pc is hiding the file extension).

I am renaming the file on the PC via total commander.
I am pretty sure it is not zip.zip issue.
Download the file to your phone directly from the thread I linked.
On your phone, go to the filed (sdcard/download).
Long press and rename it using Astro or Root Explorer, etc.
just start to the left of update.zip and delete the name so it's now just update.zip
long press and move this file to sdcard/
go to stock recovery and flash it.
Do all of these steps and tell me it doesn't work....

Possible new way to root by Chainfire

Chainfire released a new root tool that uses an exploit in Gingerbread called "Gingerbreak". This might be an easier way to root the Play/Arc/Neo/Pro and it might also work on phones with locked bootloaders.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
Confirmed working
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045204
could anyone confirm it working on the Play? honestly i got so many important applications and data and i dont want to lose them
regards
I ran Gingerbreak on Xperia Play.
Superuser installed but showing nothing in apps.
Installed titanium backup but not showing in app list.
I guess it didn't work.
Any ideas?
works great for me, maybe a reboot is required ?
Can anyone confirm weather running Gingerbreak will wipe the sd?
I ran it on a blank sd because I don't want to try with my primary sd.
this simple way of rooting works great for me, and I am a total newbie. All apps are there and i was able to remove some apps finally that came with the xperia like the chinese keyboard

Sd card will not be formatted
Titanium won't work on my play.
I purchased pro for my hero, and i can install, but the application is just not available in the app draw.
'My backup root' installs and works fine but i just can't find how to remove the bloatware with it.
I do have root access so what can i use to get rid of what's app, postcard etc ??
gingerbreak v1.2 works great doesnt wipe anything its just a simple .apk to install
edit: yea so none of the gingerbreaks are working for me anymore it keeps getting stuck at running exploit this may take a few minutes, left it for 2 hours and still nothing this getting old fast im going back to my X10 for now till something is out there guaranteed to work everytime peace
Didn't work on my xperia play.
Installed it to phone, formatted my sd card and when i run gingerbreak it get's stuck on running exploit with my sd card unmounted.
In another thread someone said that if you go to storage and manually mount the sd card it will reboot and work.
But.......this again did not work for me.
Going to try the manual root.
Ive used this one mine one thing I noticed, it runs for about 20 seconds and unmounts the SD card and seems to do nothing for up to 10 minutes but seriously leave it and have a brew come back and it will be done.

Possible work-around for 2.3.3 (locked bootloader)
Since this posted in the Arc sections has been confirmed working on Arc's with a LOCKED bootloader, those who want may give it a try.
DO NOT DO THIS if your bootloader have been unlocked, it will brick your device!!!
1. Use flashtool to downgrade to the .181 generic firmware
2. Root the device using GingerBreak1.2
3. Update to .145 (2.3.3) using FOTA
root should/may be retained. That is at least as it seems on the Arc.

Hmm, everytime I tried to mount a pair, the phone reboots, then the mounting resumes but I got the message "Error: extSdCard permission - FM could not fix the external permission and ownership. This could lead to read/write issues for apps that try to access your mounted internal sdcard folders. Please try to remount all pairs after a while manually". Never used foldermount before, so IDK what's wrong here :silly:

360root method works directly on 510.
vroot doesn't work on 510 (if applied directly).
I myself used vroot on 475 kernel that is flashed on a 510 FW, and reflash the 510 kernel after root. Now my 510 is rooted. Also changed the chinese root apps with superSU.. Plenty of step-by-step guide in other threads in the general section

Just plug your phone into your PC with 360root application running and hit the big, green, ROOT button and there you go.. Your phone will restart automatically, that means the process is done and you can close the application on your PC.
Remember the 360root requires connection to chinese server and therefore depending on your connection you might have to set up proxy on your PC. More detailed guide for this, go here.
Also, disable your antivirus, especially those that come with firewalls.
If 360root somehow doesn't work, use the 475 kernel workaround to root your 510. Guide here.
Another easy way (and more reliable) is through recovery, guide in here. But this requires unlocking your bootloader.

Is it possible to root LG Realm LS620?

Hi,
I am looking purchase LG Realm LS620 during blackfriday. Is it possible to root this phone? Please help me with links...
THANK YOU!
Yeah I Used Towel Root it worked just fine then make sure to install SuperSU & Busy Box also search some thing in the play store to fix the writing issue to the SD card after you get root heres a link to the apk for towel root https://towelroot.com/tr.apk :good::good::good:
Yeah towel root works fine, idk if theres any custom recover for it tho, been looking since i got it, ive tried using xposed framework, but its not the same as using cm roms
yeah i have yet to find a custom recovery or any development for that matter but im sure hopefully soon someone will do something with this thing.
Towelroot worked perfect! Thanks
Would just like a custom recovery, I as well have not found one.
I have bricked my LG ls620, any chance of asking someone to rip /system/app for me, or perhaps the entire stock firmware?
Writing issue to the SD Card after using Towel Root with LS620?
Thanks for the info. I should be getting an LS620 today. I would like to disable the activation wizard and I understand the way to do this is to:
1) root phone
2) install free version of titanium backup
3) uninstall LGSetupWizard 4.3.019
Regarding the rooting portion, you mention "search some thing in the play store to fix the writing issue to the SD card after you get root" . I am not sure what this means can you let me know what issues are related to writing to the SD card on this device after rooting with Towel root and what application and process is needed to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.

Yes
Towleroot works perfect!
Even unrooted on newer versions of Android you can't write to the external SD in less you root after that es3 will be able to but I'd you want other apps to you need to use

SD card error: Cannot move app

I unlocked my Bootloader yesterday, but didn't try to flash anything afterwards, I simply unlocked the bootloader, restarted my phone, and restored my texts, calls, etc using a backup I made with HTC sync manager. Everything works fine, except that none of the apps I download can be moved to the SD card even though they should be movable. When I click "move" in the app menu it waits a few seconds then displays "error: couldn't move app" With no further explanation. I'm fairly sure this isn't a storage space issue because I've tried formatting the SD card to make it work. And now I'm stuck. Advice would be much appreciated.

When I click "move" in the app menu it waits a few seconds then displays "error: couldn't move app" With no further explanation. I'm fairly sure this isn't a storage space issue because I've tried formatting the SD card to make it work. And now I'm stuck. Advice would be much appreciated.

Is my best bet to just finish the root so I can manually give "write to sd" permissions? As mentioned so far I've unlocked the bootloader but done nothing else

hello,
first, you must root your phone. then download from play store "sd card fix" for KitKat, and then you will be able to move your apps to sd card.

Hmm I tried rooting using the app function and rebooting my phone like it says to do, but I still can't move my apps also now that I've rooted I've installed another app (DS App2SD Lite) but it can't move my apps either. That all being said, thank you very much for the advice, any more would be much appreciated.
--edit-- I confirmed that my root was successful using RootChecker, so that isn't the issue...Since I unlocked my bootloader (before and after completing root process) I haven't been able to use the SD card as described above

Did you install this app?
Yes, that is the one I used. Sadly it seemed to have no effect

with that app you just fixing permissions. must open app an run fixing. if you do that I really don't know why still not working moving to sd card.
Haha yes, I ran it once it installed. It just seemed to have no effect. Also whenever I restart my phone it resets to saying "your device is ready to be fixed" instead of "your device has already been fixed". Like restarting the phone undoes the writing permissions.

You need to to disable the system write protection before any of these mods will stick through a reboot. Just install my wpmod-disable-write-protection zip . Just follow the instructions in that thread and you can then modify your rom to your hearts content.

Its for 610. Its in our forums. I just checked it for compatibility and compiled it against our kernel.
SUCCESS!!! Thank you so much for providing me with this fix, it looks like it really worked! I can access my SD card again to move my apps! I'll post again if it turns out that there's actually something wrong, but it looks like everything is A okay!
