Multi-touch problem, maybe the driver causes. - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hero support up to 2 points, and the performance seems not so smooth as iphone, and the focus will shift!
Everyone could test your screen with Multi-touch Vis Test that download from market.
i9000 support up to 5 points!
who can solve this problem?

I'm going to assume it's a hardware limitation, which will never be fixed. Multi-touch on my Hero is and has always been weird.

thanks.````````````````````

Hardware limitation. It's not proper multi touch - it's a form of dual touch, but it only recognises the first finger position and the distance of the two fingers, as opposed to proper co-ordinates.

Resistive touchscreen and the ability to write characters on the TG01

Hi, I want to buy a TG01 in the near future, due to the new ROMs and the low price in Germany for an used TG01 (starting at 160€) - I often use Pleco, a chinese dictionary and the "ChinaFEP No5" keyboard, that enables you to write characters on the screen. However I would like to know if there could be any problems because of the resistive touchscreen??? Does the touchscreen work incorrectly with "normal" pens? Do I need a special one?
Thank you for any answers regarding this problem!
AFAIK the resistives touchscreens work with any stylus... Capacitive touchscreens can have troubles with "normal" stylus.
thanks, I just thought I should ask before I buy it due to some reports about problems with the screen, but there seems to be a solution for that: showthread.php?t=632754

[Q] >2 Multitouch points?

On the Evo, some revs of the touch sensor support 5-point multi-touch, but it took a custom kernel to make this available to apps.
Does anybody know if the hardware on the Gen8 tablets (in particular the 101) is limited to 2 points, or if it could possibly do more with a custom kernel?
It would be cool to do things like piano chords with so much space available.
I don't think its possible - if you touch with > 2 fingers it looses all touch points...
the build-in touchscreen controller does only support dual touch (like the joojoo, wetab, hanvon b10 and so on)... a better one would be more expensive.
just 2 points for the gen 8

Multi touch capabilities?

Can someone tell me what is the multitouch capability of the G Tablet? I'm thinking of buying it as it is the cheapest Tegra 2 tablet, but I'm not so sure about the multitouch. Is it 2-point multitouch or 5 point? If someone with the tablet would be so kind to just download like Multitouch Test from the Market and see how many fingers the tablet supports.
2-point.....

Is this a hardware or software limitation?
Thanks!
Just so your aware. On my gtab multitouch is only reliable when the two points are not on the same x or y axis. When zooming in for example it is necessary to pinch diagonally or else nothing happens. Other have claimed this is not an issue on their gtabs, but this has been an issue for across several roms.

Difficult to say. The kernel only gets the data for 2 (simultaneous) touchpoints from the ATmega168 microcontroller that the actual touchscreen sensors (2 Pixcir Tango 32C sensor chips) are connected to.
Can the ATmega168 uC be reprogrammed to send more than 2 simultaneous touches to the kernel? Can't say.
Do the Pixcir Tango 32C sensor chips register more than 2 fingers at the same time. Yes, very probably.
Whatever the case, you'll need a ATmega168 programmer and all the chip-specific datasheets to make it happen.

[Q] Multitouch

Hi all! i notice that our atrix has just 2 finger multitouch. How many points can our device recognize? Thanks All.
First of all wrong section, second all atrix recognize two touch points, third how much touch points one person would be needing on 4 inch display, and the correct answer is two.

Well it supports 10 point for hardware

Synaptics T1021A confirmed clearpad 2000 i.e. dualtouch capable

i just called the synpatics technical support department in the U.S (0018774054163) and asked them weather the T1021A is a Clearpad 1000 or a Clearpad 2000 ?.......
and the answer was "according to documentation" IT IS a clearpad 2000 that is capable of registering 2 simultaneous touch points at the same time...
that was exactly what the support guy told me so i guess now it is confirmed that the T1021A is a clearpad 2000 unless synpatics guys know nothing about the stuff they produce
i can call them back anytime and get any further needed information, i guess it's getting more exciting for us now.....
thanks
Edit : Even if the clearpad 2000 got "buggy" dual touch it's still sufficient for playing games with it
- as shown in the first "test" video some times the touches register in the wrong position (inversed location) specially when the axis of the 2 touches is crossed, but still IT IS enough for handling multi touch games like in the Nokia n8 , HTC legend and ztc blade not to mention the Google nexus one....
Edit 2 : an example of what a clearpad 2000 can do is shown in these videos (using a ZTE Blade which is a clearpad 2000 of course).....
Video #1 multitouch test (Skip the first minute)
Video #2 Assassin's Creed (can run in any direction and jump @ the same time)
Video #3 Fifa 10 (Can run in any direction and shoot or pass @ the same time)
Edit 3 : It is believed that sony not only crippled the touch screen driver BUT also the touch screen controller chip firmware !! that's why we can still not get a functional DT and i believe this is right so at least now we know what we exactly got here and maybe a solution can be found over time...
Edit 4 : Ok called them again BUT couldn't get any firmware from them heck they didn't even know what a firmware is.....
But on the brighter side i got another CONFIRMATION from the marketing department this time that the T1021A is sold as a "clearpad 2000" Dual Touch Solution.....
Copied from the x8 forums just to make this information available here maybe the x10 mini devs and users have something to contribute to this cause.....

Thanks.....
That was all I needed to read, thanks.

With modded drivers, even we can have dualtouch. It just seems it will be hard as hell to do it and the devs don't know how.
Sony Ericsson is too idiotic over its products!
i wonder why they are 'under' their competitors
Yes,yes,yes!!
Im gettiong sick of THIs sh-t a-s Fake dual touch! I WANT THE REAL DUAL TOUCH ON MAH CLEAR PAD 2000!
