Hi guys,
I need help, my xrecovery wont start and the phone reboots normally. Im using a x10a, firmware .435 baseband .54. I installed busybox, and then using flashtool .9 i rooted the phone and then installed xrecovery, but it wont start when presing back after SE logo. Is there any way i can fix this problem? Ive researched in this page already but theres nothing about this.
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
you must press the back button during the sony logo appears.
if dont work repeat the installation of xrecory and busybox without the flash tool. follow this instruction http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
sorry for my bad english!
It's not just a one-time press. On my X10, I have to spam it for about 15-30 seconds before it happens. As soon as the Sony Ericsson logo starts, hit that back button and don't stop hitting it until XRecovery starts. As I said, depending on the rom and phone, should take between 5-30 seconds.
maybe you didn`t install xre in your device successfully.
check whether these following three files are in the system\bin
busybox chargemon and xrecovery.tar
if they are in there ,than maybe that`s the way that you hit the back button is wrong. Not pressing it all the time, but hit it during the sony ericson is on your screem.
sry for my poor english
please try to re-install xcovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
I have them, except for Xrecovery, which is not there for some reason. Ive tried to reinstall it, but it acts like if it was there already. Is there any way to clean erase Xre?? Im thinking about flashin, fixing the OS and then installing Xre again, since i dont have much data to save except for what i already have backed up in my sd card.

hit back button frequently whn SE logo appears.. it'll take u to xrecovery... if u hv installed it via FT .9 than its perfectly installed on ur mentioned BB,
Im really getting frustated :s I reinstalled the Xre installer and ran it.... however, the 3 files had a circule with a crossing red line (like the ones from no smoking signs) and that never changed no matter how long I left it there. Then I checked to see if the 3 files where there, and I think if was only chargemon present, then I tried (after flashing the cellphone) to manually install it (had the cellphone rooted with SuperOneClick) and tried copying those three files and it said they couldnt be copied into system/bin (tried different file managers and same thing). I honestly dont know what else to do, im reaaally frustated at this point. I would appreciate if you guys could help me.
At least is there any other way I could install FreeX10 Froyo 2.2 Beta 4 maybe by using flash tool?? can u please post step by step in case there is??
I would say reflash, root, and then reinstall xrecovery. that's the cleanest solution.
dont reflash! your system>bin folder likely wasn't mounted r/w. Just try again and before you paste the files click the 'mount r/w' button at the top.

Thank you very much, that really helped me!!!!
What I did was, in case it happens to someone else:
1- Download ES File Manager from the market.
2- Open it, hit settings and then Home Directory. I typed in the value "/" without the quotation marks, that way I could easily move around the folders. (Not necessary I guess, a matter of preferences).
3- Next is to mount the system files, by going into ES File Manager, settings, root options, root explorer, then hit Yes, HiAPK, and Mount File System.
4- Then, I had the 3 files (chargemon, busybox and xrecovery.tar) in my sdCard in a folder named Xrecovery, and one by one I copied them into /system/bin
Thats basically it, I rebooted the phone and by hitting the back button I gave me the Xrecovery menu.
Good luck
I had the same issue when trying to install xrecovery...ended up having to do a manual install. I think the process is described in reindeiros how-to noob thread..
Edit:I did the same as lsamuelcf...only used Root explorer instead.

Not a big problem to be honest.
Can you turn your X10 Mini on\off? (Since you need to turn it off for using the official updatetool.)
If you do, just download the Sony Ericsson Update Service for the X10 Mini.
You can find it on SE's official site under downloads.
Then just update your cellphone's FW to 2.1 again.
If you cant turn it off, you can let it drain and then do it.
OR you can remove the back cover on the phone, then remove the rubber cover over the powercord, then remove the powercord gently with a little pin to turn off the phone.
Then plug it in again and do the update-progress.
Hope it helped you in any way.
I have myself done this many times due to failed CFW install.
Edit:
As for installing xrecovery..
That isnt hard either to be quite honest.
First you root your phone and reboot it.
Install Root Explorer from the Market after root + reboot.
Get the xrecovery files over to the memorycard.
Use Dropbox if you cant use the memorycard on your computer.
Then open Root Explorer and go to the system folder and click "Mount R/W",
find the three files (xrecovery files) on your memorycard and move it to the
correct location (system/bin ? .. make sure you read up on where it is. it says where in the xrecovery thread here on xda-developers, because Im not 100% sure its in the bin folder.)
Reboot and you should have xrecovery when you boot and spam the "back" button!
Once upon a time you had to CHMOD the three files after you moved them to the correct folder (to 755), but the last time I checked xrecovery I didnt have to.
Just make sure you read the walkthrough on the official xrecovery thread. It all is there.

So i edited the android info.txt file in PH198. Now when I try to boot my phone into bootloader, it comes up with a screen saying volume up for update, volume down for no update, and then I just have to power off. Any suggestions?
Edit: Sorry if I was unclear, but when I update, my phone gets stuck on the white HTC screen.
Edit: I got it working thanks for the advice guys

Umm it's supposed to do that to load the kernel. Then you boot up to your rom and first thing delete that file off the SD card
Just boot up Rom like normal then delete using a file explorer like es file or root explorer. If it won't reboot to your rom, then pull battery remove sd card and boot . Once your booted up then reinstall SD card and delete the ph file.

What are you flashing? There's a lot of renaming things to the PHzip file name.
Actually, in any case, if you are being asked for update you should press volume up to select update, then if it says to press the power button that should be your "yes" answer to allow it to proceed. I think it says that.
Then once it is done reboot the phone if it didn't do it already and, as mjh68 mentioned above, use a file explorer like ES File Explorer or Root Explorer to delete that PHzip file. Then you should be good to go. Or you can then connect to your pc and delete the file that way, or power down and take the card out and put it in the pc and delete the file. If you don't delete that file then every time you boot up your phone it will go to flash it again.

I am flashing CleanRom 2.3 except with the nonstandard kernel. I will try removing the microsd and putting back the standard kernel then updating again. Thanks
EDIT: When I boot my phone it goes straight to the update screen not to the bootloader. Is there any way to boot the phone into recovery with my computer?
If you have a backup, and have adb just type adb reboot recovery to restore or wipe and flash a new Rom. Make sure the Rom matches the kernel

Hello.
I had searched for answer for last two days. But nothing found, only answers for rooted phones.
The problem is, when I push power on/off button it locks, but when push it to unlock it doesn't show any slide lockscreen, pattern lock or smtn. + when I hold power button, it just shutdowns, without any airplane mode etc.
Hope, u'll help me.
P.s. The only answer for this is, I've to root phone again, change that one file and unroot it back to stock? If it's possible..

That is the fix. You will have to root to do it. If you don't want to root, then you won't be able to fix it, and should flash back to a Gingerbread firmware.
Its going to need one a factory reset and two if that fails a re download of the firmware .
Probable that either flash was not 100% or firmware file not 100% .
You dont have any other choice staying in the non XDA dev world as you are restricted .

no lie, clearing your phone efs was probably the dumbest thing you could do. especially if you have no backup. in no instructions i have seen do they tell you to clear efs which contains all the phone's information (imei, mac address, etc).
if you don't have a backup of your efs folder, you're done. have to send it back to samsung

We know your thread has been hijacked by a poster who wiped efs and his keyboard .
I would .
....................................
Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .Or need to return to service or decide if its hardware/firmware problem .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery ( root and cwm kernel required )
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system and sd card .this will wipe the lot .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware GB version only this will wipe root .
Still problems use usb jig to set rom counter to zero .
Return to service centre .

To make it even easier for other people (from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22103709&postcount=5):
Tools Needed:
1. Root Explorer
Steps:'
1. Using root explorer locate the /efs/imei/ folder. In that folder there should be a file called keystr. In my case the file was missing which is why the home-button, power button and the lock screen was missing and was causing my problems.
2. using root explorer create a new file called keystr
3. also in root explorer open the file keystr in text editor and type ON
6. make sure you save the file.
7. reboot.

Face unlock ~ PIN problem
Hello,
My problem is that I have face unlock which unlocks fine and everything is perfect, but if it fails to recognise me it takes me to enter a PIN. I can put in a PIN, in fact any PIN no matter how long or short it is. I have attempted to put in the PIN that I remember it was and am pretty sure it is the one I have set. Also this happened suddenly and I don't know why.
Things I have tried:
>Format cache & Dalvik
>Fix permissions
>Attempted to change it (Via settings)
>Edited the file "efs/imei/keystr" to "OFF" and "ON"
Things to consider when solving this problem?
>I do not want to deleteany of my data
>Says "Android is upgrading..." after every boot

4) screen lock> type in the code you have set before>"NONE"
5) back on Cerberus online select "UNLOCK" from dropdown>"SEND COMMAND"> repeat step 4 just incase

Hello all. this all started when i was editing build.prop to download an app in the store that was incompatible with my device.
I was editing my build.prop file on my note 2 (tmobile) and i was smart enough to make a copy before doing that, i just copied it to a random place the "downloads" folder, seemed like an easy place to remember.
After failing at editing the build.prop and getting the app i wanted, i decided to put the original build.prop back in the system folder and just give up.
Well im not sure what happened here, i think i deleted the edited one and tried to paste the original one, when i rebooted my phone, it wont boot up, screen wont come on when it boots up, etc.
now i know there is a good copy of build.prop in the downloads folder so for the past hour ive been trying to get that and place it in the system folder, im a complete noob to adb, which is what im using to try and poke around in there, but im horrible with the commands, and cant LOCATE the "downloads" folder, where i was planning on pulling the build.prop file, and then pushing it to the system folder.
I cant find online what the folder structure is like, and i cant view it because my phone wont start.
Can someone PLEASE help me getting to the downloads folder in adb, the command to pull the build.prop file, and then getting to the system folder (i have root access and everything) and pushing the build.prop file into there.
I think that should solve my problem, id even give 5 bucks on paypal or something if someone can give me an easy list of commands i need to do in adb.
THanks in advance everyone. I hope this is in the right subforum.
Jay
i dont know if its in /data/downloads or /sdcard/downlads or what, its so hard without being able to see what folders are where. none of them seem to work.
If i cant get to that file and copy it into its home, i suppose i can always reflash.

I have CWM recovery, and i have odin installed on my computer, I dont have an external sd card, only the "internal" one if that makes sense.
I just need to get to the downloads folder in adb. my phone isnt showing up in mycomputer when i am in recovery mode or odin mode it seems.
Bro u will have to flash a advanced touch recobery like philz.falsh it using odin.
Heres the detailed procedure.
Download these files
1) Unzip Odin3-v1.85.zip
2) Open the 'Odin3 v1.85.exe' file
3) Install samsung drivers
4) Put phone in download mode by powering off and holding volume up + volume down while plugging the phone into the computer
5) You should now see the first square in Odin turn yellow and say "Ready"
6) Click on the pda tab in Odin and select the recovery.tar.md5 you downloaded
7) Click start and wait for your phone to reboot
8) Done!

If you're using a custom ROM, the easiest thing to do would be to do a "dirty" flash of your ROM (no system wipe via recovery, only your cache). You won't lose any user data but things like the build.prop would be restored.
It also helps to have a backup so that you can simply restore it via recovery when trouble arises.
