[Q] Help with recovery mode !!! - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there . Can some1 help me with my HTC hero . I boot it in recovery mode but it comes out in fastboot USB . I dont know how to bring it back to recovery mode again ?

Are you just holding down home and the power button to try and get into recovery mode? If so you've probably got an older version, like mine, and to get into the recovery mode you're gunna have to hold the vol down button and power button to get to recovery mode.

What I often do to boot my htc hero in recovery mode is that i use Droid Explorer . It used to work but for some reasons that It turned into fastboot usb mode . Screen comes out with HERO in the middle and a little red box on right top corner said fastboot usb (and i have to take the battery out to restart it ). Hope you know how to bring it back into recovery mode .

Droid explorer actually doesn't work on my computer, can't seem to get it installed. If I were you I'd go ahead and try the vol down and power button option to enter recovery mode or reinstall droid explorer and see if that'll switch it back to recovery. Of course if you have a custom rom loaded I've noticed that many of them give you the option to reboot>reboot in recovery. That's also pretty helpful.

Try home+power button to start, but first install Rom manager and root your phone...

man, you are just full of fail aren't you. 7 posts, and all negative. Willing to bet you go 8 for 8.
from the posted link:
METHOD 2: STUCK AT VIBRANT SCREEN:
(and are not able to use vol+ vol- methods to access downloader/recovery)
You will need the samsung ADB drivers installed for your phone as well as ADB...
ACCESS DOWNLOAD MODE
1) remove back cover and take our sim card and sd-card.
2) take out the battery
3) hold ALL 3 buttons down at the same time. (Vol +, Vol -, Power)
4) while holding down those 3 buttons put the battery back in
5) continue holding all 3 buttons until the vibrant disappears and reappears... once it reappears, release all 3 buttons
6) Setup ODIN and get it all setup and ready... (if you are flashing your phone via odin)
6) now connect your phone to your pc via USB cable
7) open a cmd prompt and navigate to the folder with ADB and type ADB REBOOT DOWNLOAD
8) Your phone will reboot into the download screen... go back to ODIN - A com port should now appear for your phone...
9) Click start and wait for your phone to do its thing
ACCESS STOCK RECOVERY
1) remove back cover and take our sim card and sd-card.
2) take out the battery
3) hold ALL 3 buttons down at the same time. (Vol +, Vol -, Power)
4) while holding down those 3 buttons put the battery back in

I never got the other methods to work, but this always worked for me. Pull battery, put back in. do not touch the power key. Hold the up and down volume key, then plug in the usb that is already connected to the computer.

[Q] 2.2 on Vibrant gone wrong

I tried to upgrade to the 2.2 operating system using a guide on android forums.
I originally had a rooted 2.1 OS, I don't know if I unplugged it before the process was complete or if I had to return to a stock OS prior to upgrading; however now I cannot get to download mode to use Odin again.
I have read through some threads and I have a different case, I am not stuck at the Vibrant screen, I get past it. Upon boot up I get the Galaxy S screen followed by an Android System Recovery <3e> screen with some other texts. If I hold the power button, I will get the "Power Reset or Unknown Upload Mode" screen. If I continue to hold the power button, the phone will cycle between those three modes, the Galaxy S screen, the Android System Recovery screen, and the unknown upload mode screen.
I have and am still trying different key combinations to get back to recovery mode in attempts to reload the stock OS and then continue with the 2.2 upgrade.
I have made a video that I will post when I get home later today; any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
What about pull battery plug in usb hold volume keys while placing battery back in DOWNLOAD MODE
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
You will be ok. Learn ODIN and you will have your phone back in a hour or so.

I am no expert by any means but perhaps the following might be of help:
try selecting reinstall packages when the stock recovery screen comes up, this may allow you to access CWM Recovery.
also try-- set up odin on Pc and plug in usb cable to Pc ONLY. Then with power off and phone not connected to Pc hold down both volume up and volume down and plug the usb in FROM computer this should take you to Download mode.
Try to reboot your phone with adb.
To get into download mode do this:
remove battery
replace battery
Hold both volume keys.
plug in USB
at no time touch the power button.
Takes me into download mode every time!

I forgot to mention that although in the android system recovery <3e> mode that I get I can scroll up and down using the vol keys but cannot select ANY options using the power key. None of the other keys can be used for selection either.

When I try to ADB I get the following per command.
If I use the "ADB Devices" command I get "list of devices attached" and nothing more.
If I use "adb reboot recovery" I get "a device not found."
I have Samsung Kies installed, and the android drivers installed.

Holy crap... I'm so glad I found these instructions. Worked like a charm. Key instruction was to hold down both volume keys and THEN plugging it in. BEAUTIFUL!

Bricked S3

I flashed a kernel on my S3 via recovery and then reboot my phone. It goes to a black screen now. When I pull the battery and power on holding volume down to go into recovery the Samsung Galaxy S3 logo keeps appearing and disappearing until I let go of the volume down key. Then it's stuck at the same black screen. When I try to put the phone in download mode to re-flash via odin it does the same thing. I'm pretty sure I'm fu*ked, but I just want to make sure there's not a way to fix this. Any ideas?

Don't worry..i have done worse things with my phone and yet to brick it..
Fist thing to go into recovery you hold vol up + power + home and not vol down..
Second thing what you will have to do is after the Odin flash..press and hold vol up+power+home..you will boot into the stock recovery..from here do a factory reset but mind you all the data on your internal sdcard will be lost when you do this..now reboot your phone..your phone will boot up properly now..assuming that you have flashed the firmware properly in Odin..

As zoot1 replied to you for download mode press vol down+home+power for a few seconds......for recovery vol up+home+power.........
And make very sure the kernel you flash is compatible with your phone and firmware!!!!!!!!!!!! The rest zoot1 explained in his reply
Good luck
Sorta Bricked
Anyone have an idea what I've done.... Black screen with blue light. I can get to the recovery menu, clockwork is installed, but I can't flash a rom. The only way to get the phone to stay off is by removing the battery.
This is a Cspire L710. I've attempted to flash a Cspire_nandroid_stock zip, the phone will find it but can't open it. I missed a step somewhere I guess. I had it in download mode but made the mistake of trying the factory reset-which changed that.
I've also tried a couple of other roms with the same results.

Flashed Wrong Recovery - CWM and Download mode don't work

I tried to Unroot my Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE last night and think I may have bricked my tablet. I used the instructions here on the XDA forum which had a link to all the Stock ROM's in one place. I got the most recent one and the only one for USA but it said it was for the model 7510. I didn't think that would be a problem since the USB drivers I installed on my PC were also labeled as being for the 7510 and they worked.
This tablet is the SCH-I905. Now I can't get it to boot at all. Gets stuck in a boot loop. Shows the Samsung logo, then resets and does it again. I can't get it in recovery mode either. Goes to a black screen and hangs.
Using the normal process to get to Download mode doesn't work. Holding Power and Volume Up, then letting go of the Power button, then pressing Volume Down and then Up. That's one weird thing. I can get to the option screen that shows the Download and Recovery mode options. Normally I would hit the Volume Down button to select Download mode and on the screen it says to press Volume Up to continue or Volume Down to cancel. If I press Volume Up it goes to a black screen and hangs. If I press Volume Down I get the Odin Download screen that says Waiting on USB cable.
That screen doesn't look the same as what I normally see but I'm not sure what's different. I didn't memorize each line of text. I just know there's not as much text there as there usually is. My PC will not recognize the tablet no matter which USB port I try to use and the tablet doesn't recognize that the USB cable is plugged in. I had no problem with the USB connection before I flashed the 7510 stock ROM.
So, if I cannot get to recovery mode and I can't get Download mode to work so I can use Odin to flash a different rom then is this thing bricked or is there something else I can try? I am about to try using my laptop and its USB ports but I don't think that's going to make any difference.
BTW, I have since found the correct 'stock recovery rom' at droidbasement.com and downloaded it to my PC. I just need to get on the tablet somehow.
Many people have your problem. I have my Lte verizon bricked as yours. The problem is demaged bootloader, only nvflash can fix it but actually our bootloader is locked and we need a hex key called sbk. At least we have to wait that somebody hack our tab from the basement. For now we can only search and share result.
