3. type su
4. type cd sdcard
4. type insmod psfreedom.ko jig=1
5. plug phone into PS3
6. Turn on the console using the same boot method as all other jailbreaks: Press power then immediately press eject.
7. ps3 turns on then off automaticly.
8. disconnect your phone and turn on console to make sure you are in Factory/Service Mode. You will see a huge red box on the screen saying Factory/Service Mode.
9. Turn the PS3 off again.
10. Load any blank FAT32 USB flash drive with 2 files in the root directory:
1. Modified 3.41 PUP
2. Lv2Diag.self (File 1)
These must be the only files on the USB drive and must be placed in the main (root) directory.
11. Insert flash drive into the last USB port to the right — the first USB port in from the right side if you’re facing the console. Turn the PS3 on and you will see a black screen but the PS3 HDD light will flash.
12. The process takes 3-4 minutes for the system to install the old firmware. Towards the end, the power button on the console will start flashing green and then your console will power off.
13. Remove the flash drive and turn on the console, you will still be in Factory/Service Mode. Please verify you have downgraded successfully to version 3.41 by going to “System Information”. Turn the PS3 off.
(Optional) – If you wish to downgrade to any older firmware you can follow steps 4, 5, 6 using any regular firmware PUP. (You do not need to use modified custom firmware now that you are on 3.41).
14. Insert USB flash drive back into your PC and delete the PUP and Lv2Diag.self file (File 1) and copy the other Lv2Diag.self (File 2) to the root of the flash drive.
15. Insert USB flash drive back into the same USB port on the PS3 and power on your PS3. After 10 seconds it will power off.
Remove USB flash drive and turn on your console again. You will be out of Factory/Service mode and back in retail mode with your chosen firmware version installed.
what are insmod, rmmod, lsmod?
insmod installs a loadable module in the running kernel. (to load psfreedom)
rmmod unloads loadable modules from the running kernel. (to remove psfreedom)
lsmod shows information about all loaded modules. (to show you if psfreedom is running or not)

do you have .net compact 3.5 installed. That is required as I built the app on .net compact 3.5. Also try to install both cabs to the storage card.

are you using a WWE rom or a foreign rom? i have found some issues that i need to correct. I will have an update in the next couple days. Just need to find the time to do it.
Try this:
type su then enter
Type cd/sdcard then enter
type insmod psfreedom.ko then enter
if it does not work that means i might have a issue with the payload included. I will investigate deeper.
PS i fixed the download link.
I've tried on my Diamond 2

2 step)Install PS3DJB Multi
3 step)PS3DJB multi run.
4 step)choose phone mode
when I choose diamond 2 or any other device it says "no file or no directory"
so what I've done is copying the startup config and put it manually on haret folder then when I started haret (or select launch PSDJB Android in program) it seems launched successfully but suddenly it freezes and doesn't boot!! the screen stays on " booting Linux" the only choice I have then is to soft reset my Diamond2
Any ideas !?
Thanks for your help
Is it ever possible to run ps3djb on OMAP850 devices like HTC Prophet?
Android can be installed here as a port of Wing Linux

i am going to need to look into it. it might have to do with the zimage or bin for psfreedom. I will look deeper into it as i might have a diamond to play with tomorrow.
on older devices i will need to look into it. not sure if psfreedom supports those devices.
I moved the file from PS3DJB/Startup config / Topaz / startup.txt
in PS3DJB
Then
From PAyloads/341/zlimage6 in PS3DJB and renamed and replaced by zlimage.
Then
File from the payloads / modules 2.6.2 ..... moved to a folder and PS3DJB psfreedom1.ko moved to Storage card and renamed psfreedom.ko
Launched HARET in folder PS3DJB
Run Android
Then
menu devtools terminal emulator
And he wrote
su (press ENTER)
cd (space) / sdcard (press ENTER)
insmod psfreedom.ko (press ENTER)

See if this file exists:
\Storage Card\PS3DJB\STARTUP CONFIG\DIAMOND100\STARTUP2.TXT
and if so rename and copy here:
\Storage Card\PS3DJB\STARTUP.TXT
This is of course assuming "\Storage Card" is the name of the path to your removable Storage.
Will this work on a HTC HD (Blackstone)?
Good App btw congrats

On thee CDMA Diamond it is "\Internal Storage" but.... I didn't see a startup2.txt in the \Internal Storage\PS3DJB\STARTUP CONFIG\DIAMOND100\. There was a startup text file though. I tried copying that to the Internal Storage\PS3DJB\ folder, but I am still getting the same problem.
Am I running into an issue because the CDMA Diamond doesn't have a storage card, and only the internal storage?
Thanks for helping out so fast!

It seems that the app may not be recognizing the "\Internal Storage" path as a card path. Are you by any chance getting a message box popping up stating:
No Storage card found.
If card has not been inserted, do so now then select Retry.
when you start the app?
Or a message box stating that there were:
Multiple storage cards found!
and then asking you the if the path displayed is the correct path?
Try downloading this, extract the .exe and run from your phone. Report back what the output of the SD Count and the Path(s) in the box are.
View attachment SDCard.rar
There is no SD card on the Diamond CDMA... Just the internal storage. I was able to get linux to attempt to run, but it freezes and restarts my device.
Hopefully the OP will be able to play with the Diamond he might be getting, and see if it is possible to get it to go.
Thanks

Hi All,
I wonder if someone could give me a little advise on a ROM problem.
When trying to upgrade to ANY ROM image & get the following error message:
"ERROR: GetConnectionType - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.....
..Error Getting connectiontype"
Then the ROM program closes & goes no further....>Doh!!
I have done a soft & hard re-boot, re-installed MS ActiveSync & even tried on another PC.
Please help!
did you follow this guide to upgrade ?
Ok here you go, its a little outdated but its what I still use:
Qman's how to use XDArit to write nk.nb1 or nk.nbf to your SD card aka the Bootloader Method!
1. Place XDArit and the nk.nb1 or nk.nbf file in the same folder and start XDArit.
2. Select your SD card (disk drive) from the drop down menu.
3. Select Write to SD
Notice that the Windows CE box is already checked so just click the browse button at the end of that window.
4. Select your (nk.nb1 or nk.nbf) image and then Open
Notice by default XDArit will open looking for a *.nb1 file but if you're going to use a .nbf file you'll have to manually change the "Files of Type" to *.nbf
Notice that nk.nbo / nk.nbo was automatically added as your boot-loader and its check box is unchecked so leave it that way and click OK. XDArit should start writing to the card.
When XDArit has finished writing the image put the SD-card into the XDA and hold the power button and soft reset. You'll be taken to the below screen:
SD DOWNLOAD
Card Type:
CE OS & BOOT
Press action to Download
Or
Press REC to Exit
Press action to download and it will start the download/restore from the SD card.
Follow the on screen instructions once its "Completed" which will consist of a "Soft Boot/Reset".

here is a bit about different bootloaders

Thanks very much. I have now got the latest XDA 1 ROm from the o2 website & have installed the latest radio stack update too.
However I now have no signal! have also tried several other SIM cards & no joy..
Strange..
Hi all, first post from an XDA newbie - be gentle!!
I've inherited an 02 XDA from my brother as it's not working & he's upgraded.
I'm trying desperately to get this thing to work. He installed the xda-developers Special Edition ROM V1.2 (according to the front screen - it says in red in the bottom corner 3.17.83 , it also has a red G and R above this)
It doesn't seem to hold a charge very long, which suggests the internal battery is dead. I've read about the light in the top right corner of the unit - I've never seen this lit except once when it went red for a few seconds.
When its sat in the cradle, it seems to work ok. I've checked the Version etc, and it reads:
ROM 3.17.03 ENG
ROM Date: 5.15.03
Radio Version:
Protocol:
I want to reinstall the XDA ROM to see whether it works with the "official" ROM.
I've tried to do a soft reset, I get the stripey screen with WALLABY BootLoader V5.22. After the WAIT sign, I get GSM ERROR, which ties in with the above Version Info in that there is no Radio Version number?
When I press the Action key, I see GSM turn ON Please Wait - then after waiting I get GSM turn ON fail!!
Can anyone tell me how to do the following:
1) Get the official operating system from the o2 website onto an SD Card
2) Get the XDA to boot from the new operating system
I can see from the 02 website that there are 2 downloads, RUU and RSU. I guess one is the OS and one is the radio unit (gsm settings??)
I have a laptop with SD Card reader built in, and a blank 256mb SD Card.
I apologise for the length of this posting, but I have no idea what I'm doing really! Any advice / help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Steve
PS - also tried a hard reset, but first press switches off the unti, and it stays off after the second press - HELP!!!!
YOur GSM Part is corrupt.
Flashing a new ROM wouldn't solve the problem....
Try this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_GSMError
Stefan
thanks Stefan.
I read the link, how do I install the ROM to the XDA unsing SD Cardreader & Bootloader?
Sorry for the obvious questions - I appreciate your help!
Steve
this is just rom though not radiostack

Thanks guys, you've been really helpful.
I'll report back when I've tried to do all this stuff.
One more question - I've only got a 64Mb SD Card, is that big enough?
ALSO - in the instructions it says "Select your Rom Image from the Source drop down menu. "
Which file is the ROM image?
nk.nb1 or nk.nbf
and yes 64MB should be enough
The mystery deepens -
I've put the SD Card in the card reader, but when I use XDATools, i can't select the SD Card as the destination for the ROM image file.
I click on the Removable "E" drive in the Explorer style layout, but it's almost like the tool is wantingme to select something, but i don't know what!
FYI, the SD card already has some data on it ( I took it out of my Dads Digital camera!) Could this be the problem?
Thanks
I'm happy to announce that, thanks to the awesome work done by the wing-linux project, it is now possible to run Android on the Startrek. Well, kind of.
Limitations
As of now, functionality is pretty limited on this hardware. The telephony drivers do work, and they automatically pick up many carriers like AT&T, but the most important apps for placing phone calls (Dialer and Contacts) will crash if you try to run them. This is a known issue related to the phone's lack of a touch screen. Audio playback is unsupported, though I've found that the microphone works during phone calls (which I've placed using commands via SSH). The external LCD only displays white.
Interestingly, Android is about as responsive as Windows Mobile on the device. There is no option (yet) to install the OS permanently; Instead, wing-linux installs to an easily-removable file on your SD card (required).
Instructions
Before you begin, make sure you have about 300MB of free space on the microSD card. (wing-linux requires installing to the microSD at the moment).
UPDATE (Nov. 10 2009)
The new wing-linux 0.4 release includes Startrek support! You can skip the list of instructions below and just install wing-linux normally. See their site for more information.
Download wing-linux (site) and extract it to your computer.
Follow the normal instructions for installing wing-linux, pretending that your phone model is the HTC Elf instead of the Startrek for now.
[*]After wing-linux is installed, browse to your microSD card using your computer and open the folder named "linux".
[*]Download the patched version of zImage, attached to this post.
[*]Replace the "zImage" file in the "linux" folder with the patched version you just downloaded. (This adds support for the Startrek's keypad to Android.)
[*]Open the file named "default.txt" and change the first line, from "set MTYPE 2372" to "set MTYPE 2487". (This tells Android that we're using a Startrek.)
[*]Save everything, place the microSD back into the phone, and start wing-linux again.
[*]After waiting a few minutes, you should have a fully navigable Android desktop!
Button Layout
I have attached a handy button diagram to this post, but the basic ones you need to know are:
Android's "MENU" button is the Startrek's "Home" button.
Android's "Back" button is the Startrek's right softkey (above the Hangup button).
Video Demonstration

Yes, I mentioned that. This isn't a final or polished release; it's just to play around with.
Works pretty good! none of the letter keys seem to work but , i did get the on screen keyboard to come up once but now i don't know what i did to get it to come up. I don't know how to remove widgets from the screen once i add one. Also how do i turn it off and get back to windows? Do i just have to pull the battery? Great job though! i can't wait to see if it will get fully functional!

EDITED ... I understand !
Update: Now with less hackery!
The wing-linux project has released version 0.4, with Startrek support built-in. You no longer have to do the special steps outlined in the original post. Hooray!
Does the 0.4 update offer any more function than the last one? I'm downloading right now but, i thought i would ask.

Other than having Startrek support already included, it shouldn't be much different from 0.4pre. I think there is a file manager application, now.

thanks . now it is installed !
booting is slow ( maybe for first time )
Glad it'd help you. Ya, booting is slow and you have to press red button (end call) when it loaded to a stage with the ANDROID, then you will only greet with the Android logo. Enjoy!
Hi everybody
so cool ! I wish full ability of android was accessible !!
more questions : can wing linux complete development of this project ?
I know some linux developers , can a linux expert remap keyboard or run other parts?
what about other packages like phone , bluetooth ? how we can have complete functionality of android on startrek?
can anybody answer?
MTYPE 2487 in default.txt
doesn't work with qtek 8500, must change to 2372.
With this change I can boot linux, but after setup, run the calibration utility, and startrek isn't a touchscreen device as you know. How can bypass this?

3. Open the EXE and follow the install instructions.
4. After the install is done, find out the name of your memory card (it could be Storage Card, SD Card, CF Slot, etc.)
5. Open the file 'boschrc.txt' in the root of your device with Word Mobile. Click Menu > Edit > Find/Replace.
6. Click 'Replace...'. In the first box type 'Storage Card'. In the other type the name of your card (the one that you found out earlier).
7. Save the file. Make sure you choose to keep the current format. Do NOT save it as a word document.
8. Open Settings > Personal > Buttons and map a button on your phone for '<Input Pannel>'.
Use After Installation
- If you did an alternate install, insert your Memory Card.
- Click Start > Programs > Windows 95.
- Give the app a minute to start up. If you get a message that there is not enough memory, free up as much as you can.
- Eventualy, you will see the Windows 95 boot screen. You can make the app go fullscreen by pressing the 'Fn' button on VGAKey and pressing one of the 'F' keys (not sure which one).
- You might have to run 'ScanDisk' the first time you start. Let it quickly scan your PDA.
- In fullscreen mode, press the button theat you assigned to <Input Panel> to bring up the keyboard.
- The mouse might not work properly on your device. Use the arrow buttons on your PDA to move it, or try draging the cursor instead of tapping. Remember, Windows 95 was never programmed for touch screens.

This post is getting deleted in 3....2.....1.....
Ummm.... Why?
edit: reference to illegal site is removed now
Don't delete, it's right, it work, It work on My mobile, long time to load but it work....
Sorry about that. I removed all of the references. And yes it works
EDIT: And this is NOT commercial software.
Does it work on the HD2? anybody tried?
I havent tried yet. It is pretty safe to install so give it a try
There is already a thread with detailed instructions by the author himself, so this should be deleted.
This is not the same. This has been repackaged to be simpler to install.
Code:
1. Open the EXE and follow the install
instructions.
2. Open Settings > Personal > Buttons and
map a button on your phone for '<Input
Pannel>'.
It takes 2 steps, instead of many on the other post.
The download includes a cracked version of VGAKey, which the developers probably won't appreciate.
Besides, Windows95 is hardly public domain, either?
OK Delete it then -_-.
I could remove the VGAKey part, and I doubt Microsoft would care about something 10+ years old.
WHO CAN DO ME A Favor

Or, remove the VGAKey part, and include instructions or for users to create their own win95 image if they still own an old CD. Unless, you had to modify the image to get it working, I suppose...
Any way to get this to display full screen?

I installed it on my storga card (it's name is Storage Card) and I installated it as the instructions told meto do.
But when I want to launch it it says
The file "bochs" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.
I tried searching for it's folder on the storage card, but I don't know the path where it installs to.
Any help?
Well I got adventurous (read foolish) this morning and I tried to flash my orange uk mozart with an unbranded rom floating around. It started, got to 11% and stalled. Now every time I power on the mozart it is stuck on the boot loader. I could not even get to the usb host to use goldcard anymore.
It appeared as if the only solution for now is getting a proper orange-uk rom or is there any other solution. Please help. Thank you.
Anyone? Please help me!
As long as you can get to the tri color screen you should be ok, just flash the proper ROM back on.
You might find it in the Mozart forum by ansar.

I have the same issue as you, using a debrand kit from fonefunshop and now my phone is stuck in USB host mode displaying "Enter USB Host Mode...".
Did you manage to resolve your issue? If so how?
Sorry to hear about your problem. I used a gold card with the european rom posted by Football to resolve it. Give it a go.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Problem Solved!
Here are the steps I took to resolve the issue I was having, with the Mozart stuck at bootloader, "Enter USB Host...".
First I formatted the SD-card, then used my brothers Android phone with ASTRO File Manager to extract the CID code from the SD card.
1. Insert the SD card into the Android phone
2. Start the ASTRO File Manager
3. Navigate to sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:aaaa (instead of aaaa there could be something else as well)
4. Long press on the 'cid'-file
5. First select Open as, then Text
6. Then select File-Editor
7. Write down the number 1 to 1 onto your PC/Mac
Once I had the CID code, I used http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard to generate & email me the goldcard image file.
I formatted the SD card at this point, FAT32, 4096 sector size.
I then used HxD Hex Editor and Disk Editor to copy the goldcard.img into the first sector the SD card.
Heres how:
1. Run HxD as Adminstrator
2. Open the SD card by going to Extras > Open Disk > Physical Disks (important) > Removable Drive. Make sure Open as Read only is unchecked.
3. Open the goldcard.img by going to Extras > Open Disk Image.
4. From the goldcard.img, Select All and Copy all bytes.
5. Paste into the first 384 bytes of the SD card - offset(h) 0x0 - 0x170.
Next I copied a European ROM on the the SD card (in explorer as you would with any file) and rename it to MOZAIMG.nbh
With the Y-cable I booted the phone and to my disbelief it started and successfully reflashed the phone.
