Help, lost recovery - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

[SOLVED] After doing much research i got it to boot into recovery and work.
There are many ways of fixing this i found. A person could use ruu, adb, or any other method. I did it using the working root method. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724741. In all basics it is taking the adb commands and running them through a preformed script and VIOLA it works.
Have fun and happy rooting

Ok so before i get started i want to say that i did check the forums first.
Tonight i was working with my phone when i noticed that nand was not backing up or restoring. So i decided to try and flash a new RA_recovery rom to see if i could fix it. Now when i try and boot into recovery nothing and i think i lost root, i am stuck at cleb froyo 4.0. I am at a lose of what to do. I can still access fast boot and adb. Do i just have to flash RA_recovery to fix it all. I tried using a method to root my phone and nothing, it says that it cannot write to certian places. If all else fails i will just downgrade and re root.
EDIT: Can anyone point me in the direction for 1.5 signed png000.zip file, or whatever it is called. If i can get my hands on this from there i know what to do to re gain root

Here's a link to that original root rom
Hope this helps!

Thanks
ok so here is the thing though i still have root. I played around with the phone and i figured out i still have it but again no recovery. So i am still at a loss of what to do if the adds a recovery terminal then i will flash. If not i will still flash to see what i can do from there.
Thanks Again, this is the best thing to have up on the site.
If this works, i am going to re work this and make it so that if someone does what i have done they will be able to fix it fast and efficiently ....people can learn from the stupid mistakes i have made.

Ever her this figured out

Ok so i got it to work i will modify the first post on how to fix this

Unroot access Help please.....

Hey guys I have to send back my thunderbolt to VZ, I just got the Charge instead cuz the TB sucked!!
I rooted my TB and all, I was ready to Unroot using the ADB way... I uploaded the 3 files and then it says ADB: no such file for the recovery part.
So Then I wiped my cache and my Partition thinking I was good to go with the upload from Zip through recovery. That didnt work
Now Im trying to get the phone into Download mode so I can connect using Odin. Then Flash a Stock Rom using Odin onto phone....
Also when in Terminal App on phone and get SU permissions and then try ADB: Reboot Download or recovery , I get ------ No Such Tool?
questions are How do I Unroot this Damn phone to send back to VZ???
And how do I flash stock Rom without Odin?
The TB in no way sucks. It will slaughter that POS Charge.
Luke
Odin? isn't that a samsung thing?.. HTC uses RUU's
Thunderbolt doesn't have a download mode.. and when in the terminal on the phone you don't need the adb: part.. just "reboot recovery" and when using adb on the computer don't use a colon ":" either just adb
Anyways.. here is a link to unroot.. it should help
Also.. I went from the Charge to the thunderbolt... much happier... Charge battery life was just about as bad.. if any better its because its a slightly bigger battery

thats what I been following, when I go to the reboot recovery it says no such file
Sorry you are having trouble. Please read this thread:
[HOWTO] Restore to stock for root users and non-root users UPDATED 5/17/2011
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009423
It is an update from the method you have been trying. I assume you are still rooted? Follow the first part of the tutorial, it is for rooted phones needing to return to stock. I have used this method a couple of times without issue.
I would suggest starting from the beginning and re- download all of the files. Check mdsum5, painstakingly follow each and every step and you should be returned to stock in about 20 minutes once you have downloaded all of the files.
Odin is not a tool we use with the Thunderbolt. We use ADB shell and Hboot and CWR as means of flashing Roms, radios and other files to our phones. I assume you are at least a bit familiar with these as at some point you rooted your phone.
Another piece of advice, its free and you don't even have to thank me; when you get your new awesome Charge and you start having issues with it and you just can't seem to figure out which key words to rub together in Google to find the magical solution. You may want to avoid going to the Charge forums asking for help stating that the Charge sucks but you people should help me out anyway. You might find that people are more inclined to help you out. I'm just saying.....

[Q] Hero on 2.1 uodate 1, Root and flash custom rom! Will not work, Help!.....please

I have been trawling around the internet, and this is turning into the most frustrating thing i have ever tried to do!
I will start from the beginning;
I was given a GSM Hero, locked to the 3UK network from a friend, with 2.1 update 1.. Im assuming this is the OTA update.
I looked into rooting and installing custom roms, i checked out a few guides and managed to use universal androot to initially root the device, But when i tried to install Amon Ra via terminal, i received the error Flash_image not found.
I then became very frustrated and decided to leave it for a while, but a few days ago i decided to persevere and try again! I read through more guides, including the guide on here, and got to know a bit about ADB and the use of RUU.
I tried the fixes noted in this thread;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253
But they did not work, so i did a bit more digging and found that my firmware might need to be downgraded. So i downloaded the RUU thinking my problems had been solved!
Wrong!
everytime i run the RUU my phone disconnects and i get error 170. I have searched relentlessly for a fix but have so far found none that work!
i have also tried pushing a flash_image file onto the device, as i have come to the conclusion that it is missing from /system/bin/ but all the time i receive the error "Permission Denied" or something along those lines.
Thank you for your patience in reading this post, any help would be greatly appreciated! if there is anything else i can try or if i am being a complete noob if you could please let me know!
Cheers
~Anglooo
EDIT: also worth noting i am running Windows 7 64bit, and have the corrrect drivers installed for my device, as far as i know!
Have you tried the instructions for root and recovery on the link you posted. The UniversalAndroot method should work. This will give you the recovery from which you will then be able to flash custom roms.
Yes i have, but when i try to use terminal (or ADB for that matter) to flash the recovery image, i get the error flash_image not found. I think that it is missing from the firmware that i am using.

s-off no root?

Hi all,
I'm in the process of rooting my phone and I WAS going to put an almost stock rom on it - the bloatware but I'm having trouble running Titanium Backup and getting the phone to recognize that it's been rooted.
So far I have:
Ran Revolution
This gave me S-Off the first go around but didn't install Clockwork Mod, so I ran it again and I have S-Off and CWM now.
After that I had problems with the SMS, Error Code 64 Error Class 2, I called support and they had me do some stuff with ##82# and got it fixed.
Then I downloaded Titanium backup, which told me I didn't have Root.
Grabbed Root Checker, it told me I didn't have Root too.
After more searching I found someone saying that if I hit Problems? in Titanium it would download and update Busy Box for me, so I tried that, only it downloaded a program called Superuser instead (Android with a Pirate Patch logo).
Checked for updates with Superuser and it told me I was Legacy, then when I tried to update it failed.
Grabbed Busy Box Installer and attempted to run it, won't install because it says I don't have Root.
If I'm not mistaken, I can just flash a rom now, but I wanted to backup my apps and data, so I'd like to get Titanium running somehow. I suspect my problems are related to still having the stock rom Sprint gave me on release last July...but I can't get rid of that without getting rid of my apps and data. Is there something I'm missing here?
to gain root access on stock rom, you have to find the proper signed zip (I've used Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip) and install from recovery, s-off is not needed for this operation. If you look there are a lot of how to.
S-off and root are two different operation and they are not related. To get root you need just a recovery

Thanks, I must have missed that. The documentation's kind of scattered to the four winds. I'll let you know how it goes.
you are welcome
i had problem with s-off just because the how to linked a pg86img.zip that not worked with my phones... tons of tryouts then i just redownloaded it from an other link, just worked like a charme at first try
I'm struggling to find a good guide for getting the Superuser zip onto the phone. I'm assuming the file you mentioned earlier will work for the Evo 3D and I found that. I found this and it's saying to install from Fastboot, which I'm not able to find a guide on and not exactly sure how to do...
www dot komodocontacts dot com/page/how-to-unlock-and-install-superuser-su-on-android-without-breaking-ota-updates
It's not as simple as loading the files up in recovery is it?
Any ideas?
well, i've to save the zip on sdcard, then reboot the phone in fastboot to access to recovery (you may enter in fastboot in two way: power+(vol -) or adb reboot fastboot, the you have to enter in recovery and "apply any zip", select the proper zip and ... done
---------- Post added at 08:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:18 AM ----------
I forgot .... you may use "adb reboot recovery"...
Thanks a lot, got it.
Also found this video, first part goes through running Revolution.

Creating Recovery for Unsupported Phone

I recently rooted my phone and I would like to make a backup before I mess around with a few things. The phone I have is a Galaxy K Zoom. It's running 4.4.2 Kitkat.
My problem is that CWM and TWRP don't seem to work. CWM tells me that my phone is unsupported, and TWRP says it will backup, but when it reboots to create it, I get an error. Is there another recovery app that is available? Or am I stuck having to restore to stock if I soft brick it? I'm ok even using ADB and/or Odin to flash it back to the phone, but I just need to make a recovery to start with.
Also, I have a recovery file that I found in a rooting thread for my phone. Won't that recovery file restore to their phone's settings? How can I make my own? I'm sort of a noob at this, so sorry for asking.
Thanks in advance and I really hope I get get some direction here. I'm more than willing to read through threads, I just don't know if I'm searching for the right terms. I noticed that there have been some posts on this before and there were no replies. Hopefully I can get one!

Soft bricked(i think)g3, no download mode - phone still active_help get back to stock

I have a Sprint LG G3 LS990 that I have been having major trouble with as far as getting a custom recovery. Reason being is the Auto Rec wouldnt work for me because of my version of SuperSU. Flashify wouldnt work, even if I could find the correct file becuae it says to be careful when you are using lollipop AND/OR MAKE SURE BOOTOADER IS UNLCKED BEFORE FLASHING. I thought I had found a solution, but that solution did this to my phone. I basically tried to use BUMP to get TWRP, and based on what I read, I am SOFTBRICKED to a certain extent? My phone still works and everything, still root access, but I do not have any type of recovery or download mode to use any of these solutions that I keep finding. When I try to go into Download mode, or Boot into Recovery, it just goes to FASTBOOT. I cannot find our exactly what to do from here. I am rather a NOOB, but can take and retain direction and information well. I have been looking for a FASTBOOT SOLUTION for literally like TWO DAYS now and cannot seem to find one. If anyone could please help and tell me where to go from here. Anything that would get me to where I can factory reset my phone and reroot it. That is really the goal. The ultimate goal is reroot, custom recovery and BLISSPOP ROM and then I will be fine. I need information on totally RESETTING PHONE/(RESTORING RECOVERY?) from fastboot mode, or justs doing the whole process. Resetting phone so everything is how it should be STOCK WISE, so I can proceed to re root it. Thank you in advance for even reading this.
Have you tried flashing a recovery from within android? Like flash the latest twrp.
