Hide pictures in files? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I put some pictures in my files but not make them show up in my gallery?

Try the free app called VAULTY in the market.

I'm not looking for a app I know there's a way to do this by changing the end extension to something else so gallery doesn't scan it
Thanks anyways

Create an empty file named ".nomedia" (without the "") in the folder you want the pics to be hidden. Done....

Ooooooh k thanks il try that and report back

Using that file will keep all "media" in the folder from showing. If you just want to keep certain pics/media from showing but want others to show rename the pics/media with a "." in front of the file name. Eg. "mypic.jpg" ---> ".mypic.jpg"

Got it worked thanks

Where to hide our private videos?

Hey guys the title says it all. Where to hide my porn in the file manager so that it is invisible in the gallery.
I put my porn in my created folder 'other' but still it is visible in my gallery lol

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA xD
Remove the filename extension. Works for me
audio manager is a good app to hide any secret information....
hit the thanks button if i have helped you...
use video vault bro for videos, and photovault for images. Ask me if you want the apk.
Any folder name that begins with a ' . ' (period) wont be scanned by the gallery.

Just create a new file in dat other folder
File name ".nomedia" without quotes
Sent from my LG-P500
Well if you really wanna hide stuff even from sdcard, use audio manager by Anuj Tenani ( The name of app is purposely named) .
It works as a audio profiler but once you long press the title of app you go into this secret world.
It encrypts data (with some simple and fast method) so even if someone gets hold of sdcard no worry. You can also uninstall the app(data remains hidden), when you reinstall you shall find everything as it is.
You have to long press the media or folder you want hide > Share > audio manager.
Good things in life are always free.
But if you just want to hide it from gallery use gallery excluder it makes the ".nomedia" files for you. (Restart gallery one or two times)

You can also zip them or add .zip extension to the master folder. Root explorer and astro play the zip directly without Unzipping.

Apending folder with .zip I think wont work, gallery will still show the content because its a folder with .zip in the name not extension.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
Just tried after adding .zip to my video songs folder. Videos show in gallery but don't play. They don't play in any video player either.
Deleting the created thumbnails will also solve the problem of showing in gallery.

No mClocks are working (Found solution!)

I've created an mClock folder on my phone, dragged the files with images into it and when I click on one of the .xml files, it shows the time/date but no image/template behind it. Ive also tried adding these files to my SD card with no luck.
Not sure why the background is not showing up, anybody have any idea?
Edit: Okay I found a solution for anybody who ends up here somehow. The mClock skin needs its own folder inside of the "mClock" folder you've created on your phones storage. So on your phones storage (didnt work on my SD for some reason), create a folder called "mClock" and within that folder create another one with the name of the zip. So I downloaded a skin called "ribbons", so the folder inside your mClock folder should be called "ribbons". Then drag everything into that ribbons folder and you should be good to go!
Sorry if confusing lol
Have you looked in the Android themes section where the mclock thread is yet? There are a lot of the same question there about mclock not showing up properly. from what I would speculate is that the background image isn't in the right folder where the xml file is supposed to find it. That usually is my problem as well.

Editing: Found solution, in OP.
sadly the solution doesn't work for me :'( ...
in my case i've tried internal and external no difference. my layout is mnt/sdcard/mclock/sayit/hdpi/xmls/ and when i select my xml it will appear in preview but not when i press back. i can grab it but it is invisible and shows nothing.
Sent from my Galaxy S II Skyrocket
You also need to make sure the "mClock" folder you create on your sd is exact....(lowercase "m", capitol "C") If not the whole path will be ruined. Inside the .xml you can look at the path, just make sure you name your folder correctly!
Ye when I posted it was just mclock but tried mClock no difference...
ok on a stock rom it won't even appear in preview anymore. it will however appear on homescreen but without xml modification its just the regular font.

are you're themes in .zip format, are you unzipping and moving the folder inside your "mClock" folder on your sd? If so, you need to open up the .xml in notepad and make sure what the path is, should be (sd/mClock/nameofyourfolder) make sure everything is spelled correctly and that everything is on the same path as the .xml, otherwise it wont work.
It was downloaded as a zip yes. But as I stated in my first post it is sdcard/mClock/Sayit/hdpi/xmls/ and it is in there

It shouldn't be all that.....it should be, sdcard/mClock/"themefolder") Inside the folder of whatever theme you're using should be the .png,.ttf font file, and the .xml. all in the theme folder of you're choice.
k now it is sdcard/mClock/Sayit
With everything in there and still not working... don't think mClock is worth all this effort

Sdcard Question?

Does Anyone know how I can determine which app is creating a Folder on my Sdcard? When I click the folder its Empty, so its basically pointless...
Thanks in Advance!
The folder is usually named something similar to the apk, so if you search through your /data/app directory you should see a similar name as the created folder.

Usually when you go in to the folder you might catch a clue of who they are and what app created them.
Many goes by the dev name or software name.

Normally when a software stores in the SD card, it will create a folder with its name or the name of the dev company that made the program.
This is not always the case but its what usually happens, and this way you may have idea of why the (xxx) folder exits

I see what you say, I have that in my SD Card too. Sometimes its in reference to apps I've had in the past, sometimes its just for caching that the apps use it. In some cases I've seen that they where there when I've had another phone and because I've been lazy on cleaning it, it just carries on to the new on.
I would say, that if they are empty, then just leave them there, maybe one day if you start fresh on a new phone or ROM then before you start up to phone just place the SD Card in the PC and delete all the suspect ones, you should have a fresh start without issues then because you'll still be reinstalling the apps and they will create the folders they need.

I delete them they come back. Theyre like spyware or something it seems and I say this because I haven't added any new apps in a long time but I remove these daily.. The newest one I was getting was z7logs which I came to find was from outlook but like I said haven't added any new apps on this phone in months... Keeps me suspicious.. Did you ever find anything out ab the myrecord folder?
Directories myrecord & myalbum
Directories myrecord & myalbum are created by the
"Easy Downloader" app and also the "Pro" variant.
Creating empty files with equal names prevents directory
creation. But uninstalling is the only way to avoid this completely.
Best regards

What is this thumbnail folder?

So whenever I take pictures or add pictures to my phone, a separate thumbnail folder with duplicates of all my pictures gets created. I was just wondering what this was? And can I delete it without losing the rest of my pictures?

Freeze it. Backup. Remove.
Sent from my MB870 using XDA App
Can't freeze because it isn't an app...

It sounds like it might be the directory where they store the thumbnails you see in the gallery app. Where is this folder located? I can give it a look.

Ok the folder is located in sdcard/dcim and I'm running cm7. You're probably right about what it is but I was just wondering if it was necessary. It flutters up my gallery with a bunch of duplicates :/.

I don't have cm7 flashed ATM, but I know in the MIUI gallery app, you can hide certain areas of the file system from being scanned for images. Maybe there is a similar option in cyanogen?

hide images in galley

How can i hide some pictures (like album covers) in ICS gallery?
Thanks
In folder where is that pictures make new file with name (.nomedia).
Without ().
Just mew file, not txt, pdf or anything...just file with that name,
Also you can find that nomedia in gameloft games directory so you can copy paste it.
