Hi im new in the forum
i just got my htc hd2 and it have radio 2.10 spl 2.08 and hslp.... i was all over looking at the topics but i am confuse..
All roms have an special radio that is needed to be installed? what is the must supported radio for all roms? having installed the hspl3 will do the job no matter the radio or bow exactly i get to know what is the exact radio that the rom needs so i dont brick my phone?
sorry to bother with all questios. just want to be informed before i do all the stuff in the video tutorials i've seen.
thanks in advance for the help
Some Rom developers suggest that specific Radios can work well with their ROM. If you update your Radio to the latest 2.15.50.14 i think it would be up to date and you will never have any problems with it... I tried several Radios on several Roms and i don't see any problem with voice e.t.c
*-What is a Radio ROM?
* The Radio ROM is the software part of your device that is powering on/off and controlling your radio interfaces. This includes Bluetooth, 2G/3G Phone, WiFi, GPS..... And it also includes the OEMSBL (Radio BootLoader) and other device specific firmwares needed for using your radio interfaces and for interfacing them with the OS (Windows Mobile/Android).
.......So don't worry... You can't brick your phone with this if you follow the instructions on installation screen of course!
you can find the Radios here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
woah stop there. The OP has a tmous, and you linked him to the regular hd2 radio thread, which contains loads of radios that will destroy a tmous.
OP, go HERE , and in the tmous specific rom development thread you will find another radio thread HERE, which tells you all you need to know, about which radios you can and cant flash.
WOW! Didn't saw that! Sorry mate!
Thanks arkatis & samsamuel for the answers and help..
Will check the information on your links/ Thanks for the help responses

Just thought it was better to have one thread in regard to the locked radio included with the "RUU_Hermes_HTC_WWE_2.05.255.1_6275_1.34.00.10 _108 _Test.exe" update. I was one of the people who ran the full update and have now a locked radio bootloader If anyone has any suggestion or ideas on how to reflash the radio part could you post them here in one place!
Oh for what its worth I don't have any issues with this radio I would just like to be able to flash a different radio in the future

You are able to flash different radio, in NBH format and with bootloader 1.09.
Also I recommend you to read this thread:

Thanks pof, It all makes sense now! I must say coming from the wizard and universal I'm finding the hermes flashing process allot more hazardous! Theres seems to be allot more effort by HTC to lock the phones down! It’s a real shame as cooking roms and mixing and matching radios with rom is a lot of fun and keeps interest in the phones long after the newness as worn off.
Oh BTW I hope people in the same situation will stubble on this thread instead of posting another "help I cannot flash my radio" post.

Is 1.27 still the 'prefered' radio rom?

Yes that is mine. It is Radio only 1.34 using Des SSPL. I must have not changed the text file so SSPL reports 1.23, but after install the Radio ROM reports correctly and IS 1.34
is it true ?
Is 1.27 still the 'prefered' radio rom?
I prefer the 1.35.00.11 myself since its the absolute latest radio code available fttb. GPS functionality means that if the hardware mod works then this radio will control GPS as well.
Hi Guys
NEVER FLASHED THE PHONE BEFORE.
I am not really sure what I need to do up update my Vario 2 (UK) to the latest radio ROM 1.35.00.11, never done it before and really want to enable the GPS.
Hopefully if I get that done I will flash up to WMXL 0.10
Cheers for any advice.
If I flash 1.35.11, would my BL level change from 1.07 to 1.08?
Would I lose the ability to flash radio roms using mtty?
Simple
I've extracted the radio ROM from latest Trinity ROM and packaged here as a standalone NBH radio upgrade:
HERM_RADIO_1.38.00.11_Only_SSPL.rarThis radio has HTC_BOOT 0108 and GPS enabled.
Keep in mind that the safest procedure to upgrade your radio right now is:
Flash Hard-SPL v1.10.Oli on your phone
Flash the desired radio upgrade using the RUU package
Both steps have to be done with phone connected to computer through USB cable and activesync enabled, Des SSPL will be pushed into your phone when the RUU starts.
Remember that when flashing a radio only you don't need to hard-reset your phone, so no data will be lost.
Enjoy!
Excellent! Have you given this radio a work-out yet??
still flashing 92%
Edit: Flashed and working fine (see attached image), but still haven't seen any noticeable difference
What news with this radio ? most stable, battery ingrasse ?

Pof ,I understand 1.10.Oli will somehow protect us from bricking device by flashing a wrong radio. But since it is base on 1.04 ,so it will not support Radio BL 0108,so if I am now having 0108 here, and I flash this rodio 1.38,and I got a bad flash,I still can not repair my device. Is that right?
Radio-BL 0108 or something newer?
Hope the battery-duration will be better than in 1.35 Radio
@qvik123: If that happens you have two options to unbrick your device:
1) wait for a hard SPL based on 1.09 (which AFAIK Des will release soon), once you have it reflash the radio again.
2) You will still be able to flash an OS only because hardSPL will still keep the "fake" SuperCID on your device, so flash a OS image with KITL enabled and then use the KITL mehtod to unbrick your device with Platform Builder.
By any means, if **** happens do not overwrite 1.10.Oli with other bootloader.
Thanks Pof,you just answered the question which kept me thinking since Hard SPL released.Flashing this one,now by 30%.
flashed 1.01 oli, flashed 1.38.00.11 - no problem, BUT when I flashing/updating (or possibly bricking ) device, I like to know what exactly is a differences between versions, only one think I know about 1.38.00.11 is, that this version have GPS enabled. Thats all. Is any changelog, or list of changed/updated/improved features inside of roms? I know, that you just dump this rom from device, but it is really nice to know, if it is necessary. perhaps we should created one special thread with differences between versions, to better orientation (sorry if I miss this one, but I think at this time doesnt exist)... guys - thx for your work anyway
Thanks Pof I am going to upgrade.
ok a little lost on the process can I just download the 1.38 file and that will upgrade it or do i have to do something to the boot loader first? Sorry for the simple question.
yes, the question is really simple. but there is one more think you can do... read all this thread, and also this one. all necessary information is in there. and if you dont want to have 700$ paperweight, I really recommend to read all information about flashing procedures in wiki - here before you start. in any case of question or problem, do not hesitate to write some posts, but if anybody ask similar question like you, without some reading, which, yes, need a some time, then If somebody want to find any relevant and usefull information, must read about 60 % pointless posts... it is nothing personal, just for your info. forums is about people, and people keep forums alive.
you did not provide us any information about you current version of OS/ROM, BL version, for me it was easy, just extracted Hard-SPL.zip, runned ROMUpgradeUt.exe - after reset I have oli BL, then you can run HERM_RADIO_1.38.00.11_Only_SSPL.rar.... there is much much more knowledge about that, so try wiki first, it is only for you own good.

Yes definatly read the wiki etc... but also do as sinmae has done and load a HardSPL first, this is especially relevant when flashing radios.
@pof are you also running a HardSPL based bootloader??
...can somene put this ROM on Rapidshare or somewhere else, cause XDA FTP is not working

Unfortunately HTC keeps this information private, so there's no ChangeLog.
The radio was not dumped from a device, but extracted from 1.23.408.1 Italian Trinity ROM.

Yes, I tried only with WM6. We don't know the difference / advantage, just that it's a newer (higher) radio version.

The download server was down now running!!!!!
Just upgraded to radio 1.38 from 1.35 and I am running xdalive first release WM6 on O2 3g. Since the upgrade I am pretty sure the phone signal is now stronger as I have tested it in areas around my home and outside that got no signal, especially near my pc. I can now make a call next to my pc with 3 bars on the signal meter! The signal does not drop so much, I will test further and report back any problems, but so far so good.
Please let me know how you get on.
Can somebody compare the battery duration between this Radio and 1.34?

I will let you know on that one as I had it fully charged for the radio upgrade. I will keep an eye on it and report back.
I was about to down grade my radio back to .1.27 or earlier beacause of my UTMS reception in Brisbane (AU) and also the battery life. So i will also let you all know how this goes.
I have an unlocked fuze.Today i want to install winmo 6.5.Can some one please tell me all the things i need.I have done a search, but i need directions that are simple to understand. Is there anyone that can walk me through this.Help please just an averege guy,im not a pro phone guy
Then you must have searched badly..

i think i already have spl on my phone if so can i just flash the rom.if i flash a new radio will i get better reception,my phone wont work in the house
Flashing and SPL
If you have an unlocked Fuze, it does not mean that you have installed the hard Spl. Unlocked means that you are able to use your phone on any network, and you have the ability to flash non-raphael radios to your device. If you would like to flash a 6.5 rom to your Fuze, you need to flash the hard spl first, choose a rom, and flash your chosen rom. As far as signal goes, some roms work well with certain radios. Read the forums for the rom that you choose and see what kind of radio the chef recommends. Another thing that I can recommend is to go to the HTC website and take a look at the official update for the Fuze. This is a rom and a radio package that in my experience made my phone work much better than before. The update to the radio boosted my signal, and it unlocked the gps to work with any program since a stock Fuze gps works only with the At&t navigation program. All in all, the best advice I can give you is read up on the xda forums. The contributors on this forum are amazing and have put countless hours into turning our stock (crappy) Raphaels into real i-phone killers.
when its on blue, green, red boot screen it says spl 1.90. olinix
if you've flashed hard-spl, then you are ready to flash a rom.
yes, changing your radio could possibly result in improved reception. radios have different results for everyone and depends largely on where you live.
deadcpu already gave you the thread that has all the information you need. read it.
I am attempting my first ever flash.
However, I am going to flash a cooked rom which is not compatible with my current radio. My first question is, do i have to flash the new radio first, and then the cooked rom, the other way around, or does the order not matter ?
Also, when i tried to flash the radio with cutomruu, when it confirmed what version to what version, it gave me my current roms version, and asked me if i wanted to update to the new radio version? shouldnt it give me old/new radio version?
can someone please help i really wanna get this done as soon as possible.
Thanks !
You need hspl first before you do anything . Then flash the radio , make sure it's a .50 never a .51 . After that do the rom . Most chefs (the people that make the roms) will recommend certain radios as they have tested the roms with these but really as long as it's a .50 radio it's really down to which one works best for you .
There are guides on flashing Roms at the top of the rom development page read it all carefully and you won't go wrong .
Hello, and Wellcome to the Forum.
1. you need HardSPL
2. If you have an Radio with an 51 like 2.07.51.2 then you need an Radio with an 50 Like 2.07.50.2 on most Roms
3. Flash the Radio befor the Rom
4. After Radio Flash you can go on with the Rom Flash.
Here are some infos more: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
All an top of the HD2 ROM Development you find the Sticky Post ther are more Infos.
Ghostrider
TO SLOW
If the new ROM is not compatible with the old radio, then definitely flash the new radio 1st.
The ROM installer is telling you the correct info. I would surmise it was designed for flashing ROMs, so it would always give you the current ROM version. However, the same software is used to flash radios.
Hope this helps. I viewed some Youtube videos before I flashed. There are some showing both a radio and ROM flash for the HD2.
Hey everyone.
I read it on the wiki that flashing 1024mb Leo with 512mb Rom would certainly cause a brick, I also read those scary posts about phones dead even with HSPL flashed, so I ask a question: Is there something else you should NOT do besides what is written in RUU itself?
Is it possible to make some kind of tutorial "how not to brick HD2"
P.S. Sorry if it is already stated somewhere, but all I could find were posts about already bricked HD2s
Might sound like a stupid question for all advanced users, but i find its a very good question, because of course, bricking anything (unless its a real brick) is a real bummer!
So yeah, i was also wanting to know what NOT to do, and what things to avoid..
For example, i installed HSPL 3 with a 2.02SPL, people say i will have stability issues.. i didnt read about that in HSPL3 tutorial.. will those stabilioty issues possibly lead to a brick?
Also, installing HSPL 3 and then installing HSPL 2 will those things possibly brick an HD2? or to brick an HD2 you must really be doing crazy stuff, like
-flashing 1024 with 512 rom?
-flashing crazy custom & terribly cooked roms?
best advice I ever saw on here......
"Read Everything, Even If You Dont Understand It....... Then Read It Again"
this does not change anything, I read the stickies and flashing guides and still i could only find one definite how-to-brick: 1024 to 512 and vice versa
Anyone?
That was more of just a sort of general piece of advice.
Wasnt suggesting you need to do more reading...........
Its actually the radio that will brick the device.......
flashing a .51 radio to a tmous will brick it.
So .50 radios only. You'd probably be best to go for one above 2.08.50......
Most roms will reccomend a radio to use anyway.......
If you've read the stickys, got the right rom/radio/hspl and familiarised yourself with the process then theres not much that can go wrong.........
95% of the horror stories on here are down to people not doing their homework....
I dont understand this radio thingy... Why is it even changeable?
Who would want to tweak that (except cookers?) and why did they provide different radios?
How do i know, when i download a rom what radio is it? If i use always official roms, i have no risks, right? Can even stock roms have different radios?
Thx for answers!
Radio is a part of firmware (part of ROM if you please) that ensures the link between OS and radio (GSM, FM, BT, WIFI),I read somewhere that it somehow responsible for camera aswell...

Custom roms usually do not come bundled with a radio. The chef nearly always recommends a radio to use with the rom.....
Stock roms come with a radio, which is normally shown as part of the file name....
ie. RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
If your flashing a tmous with a stock rom you still have to make sure that it is a tmous rom........
Wow, thanks for those clear answers! Im starting to get it!
So.. say i download several roms:
ROM: 3.14.406.2 (on HTC website)
AND
RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0¶
7U_2.06.51.07_Ship (found on internet)
AND
Original HTC NLD 1.48.404.2 2.05.51.05_2 15.28.50.07U
How do i know the radio of the first rom?
And how do i know that the Radios of the 2 other roms ( Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0 7U_2.06.51.07_ and the last RADIO 2.05.51.05_2) are compatible? Indeed, they are different, so how do i know if i can install them without bricking my device???
Thanks again, guys for ur help and time
I didn't completely understand what you just wrote , but i somehow feel that answer to your post is what i'm looking for also
The 3.14 Rom you downloaded from the HTC site already has a radio so you wont need to worry about compatibility........
Just so I'm clear on this, which type of HD2 do you have? tmous / Standard (european) HD2 / Australian (Telstra) HD2.......
Im assuming it asked for an s/n number when you downloaded 3.14??
If it did and yours worked then you have an unbranded handset and you can go ahead and flash that Rom.
If you've flashed before you will need to remove HSPL.........
If not then ignore that...........
So in simple terms, ONLY the radio that contains .51 will brick a T-Mobile US HD2 phone, but .50 will be fine. Usually all [ROM] in the Rom thread will tell you if it's T-Mobile Compatible or not. And most of them don't have a radio built into it anyways.
Every Rom you download from HTC will contain the ROM, and RADIO, so before loading you must make sure it is for HTC T-Mobile US not UK, which is usually stated before you download as you have to put in your SN number before you're able to download.
