Ok, so just used sgs tools to change my bootup and shutdown sounds. Using custom Darth Vader breathing heavy for bootup sound and Darth Vader saying “You Failed Me For The Last Time” for the shutdown sound. Its freaking awesome! So, what are you guys using for custom sounds? Post away!!

I like the old THX sound-effect as a boot-up sound. Had to compress it a little and add some silence to the start but it's pretty close to the right duration.
No shutdown sound, I just want it off when I hit the button -- although I did replace the shutdown graphics with my contact info in case the phone is lost. (Hey, I can always hope it isn't found by some douchebag.)
Just recently flashed to onyx and they changed the power up and power down sounds
The power up is silent
The power down says "Bionix shutdown sequence initiated ... hardware offline"
I like the sounds but im trying to change them to my own.

where so i put the sounds so SGS Tools can see them?
Edit - I guess I just needed to drop it in the SGTools folder.
I personally hate any startup/shutdown sounds. First thing I do is delete the sounds.
@ MV10, can you extend the sound any? Awesome choice. Just seems to and a little too soon. Thanks. Anyone know where else to get custom sounds?? Thanks!

Ok, so first you got to be rooted. After being rooted. Go to the the market and download sgs tools. Which you need to change your sounds. Ok so use the links that I posted earlyer if you want starwars sounds.for bootup sounds use a wav. sound file and for shutdown sounds use a .ogg sound file. After you get the sounds you want. Use ether your PC or a file manager. And move the sounds files to the sgs tools folder that will be on your internal SD card. Once they are on there.use sgs tools and click on change bootup and shutdown sound option. Bootup sound needs to be a wav. file and the shutdown sound a. ogg file. Pick what you want and after that reboot your device and your sounds should now be working! Pretty easy! Any more questions pm me. Peace out!

Against my better judgment I attempted to change.boot up sound. It seems to be true that supercurios voodoo kernels don't support sounds. Kind of a bummer if you ask me! Thanks for help darkside. The force is not with me tonite.....

yeah i tried this too, and it wouldn't work i got the animation to work, but not the sound?
Edit: whoops, nevermind. I suggested what you already tried. Good luck.
They are separate files and for some reason if your using a lag fix it makes the poweron.wav file not play at least that's how it is for me
egc-r2+voodoo jl4+jl4 modem
I do not have a lag fix and it does not work but since you said that maybe oclf and restore boot animations might work
Edit thanks willsnews for talking about a lagfix because restore boot animations with oclf worked I have a power on sound

Ditto. I was going to say it should be a file and not a folder, but it looks like you beat me.
Okay never mind I flashed the file and worked then I put nero 2 and now I get the red recovery sombionix was talking about! Thanks all

There is an app in the Market called Voodoo Toggle that makes it very easy to detect if (a) voodoo is enabled and (b) easy to disable it.
If you flashed a custom rom, more than likely the disable voodoo is erroring on calling the format.fat file. In a custom rom that will be either misconfigured, or not even there. Follow this link, and you will find your answers.

can anyone confirm this is working? Am i playing guinea?
It works but how do you stream music from your PC to the phone?
How do we install this? Do we flash or push adb style?
Its an APK just extract to your SD card and use a file manager to install. Runs good on my Tab.
Works , download and install as a regular APK, I had one issue idk if its my phone but the audio cuts when switching back to home, over all i like the gallery style look cant wait intill its finished
No issues for me at all. Its a surprisingly sharp looking music player too...i like the little working EQ bars next to the song title in list mode. Thanks for sharing this.
Sippin Whiskey w/ Nero 3 & Voodoo ....ahhhh smooth.
It's nice indeed, it'll bgr perfect when the controls are added to the notification pull down.

It would really be awesome!
If this worked with the notification bar... this would be perfect! Wait.. And better widgets..
I love it, I've been using this lately and only encountered one bug. It kept skipping tracks after a while but it was probably because I was using a remote on my headphones but I fixed it I just unplugged the headphones and it worked. other than that this is great cant wait for further updates

So I thought this boot animation was pretty cool... I did a quick port for the Atrix Screen size (540x960), and it looks good. However, it needs some sound badly.
Thought I would post it here and someone could get some sound rocking on this thing. I take no credit for this, all I did was port the screen size for our device.
Here is a video of the animation:
Here is the download link:

Good luck on getting sound for it, that would be pretty awesome!

I noticed you are on Gingerbread is this for 2.3.4? And do you copy/paste into sytem/media folder or do use unlocked CWM to flash?

Boot animations should work on any build. However, if they have sound, you have to be careful about which build it is installed on.

Was this supposed to be placed into /system/media and renamed, or simply flashed with CWM?
I executed the former approach, and had no results.
Killer animation though. Looking forward to getting it to work.

There's a few other ports on lower screen rez, floating around the internet and youtube... this is as close as I got to an original source: http://dev.nsbtt.com/android/bootanimations/
I found the perfect audio file for this animation, but for some reason the audio on anything I do is cutting off really short, well before the boot up is finished. I am wondering if there is a maximum play time for audio in the notifications folder.
any news?! I love this bootanimation

I made some nice sound fx for this video
Okay, got the desc file working, but theres a couple of issues
first off, the sound starts off a little ahead at first, then the animation catches up,
second of all about 3/4 of the way through the boot the sound gets really low for some reason, so its harder to hear, maybe once i get to my real computer I can edit the mp3 to be louder after that point, but heres the mp3 and edited desc file:
just unzip, replace the desc.txt file in the original bootanimation.zip with the one in this archive
then add the bootfx.mp3 (unzipped) to your /system/media folder via root explorer
... any way someone could put instructions as to exactly how to install this, along with the sound effects, using CWM? Kinda new to the whole thing, really....
when i flash it with cmw it says installation aborted why

You are probably on the wrong version of Tenfars CWM.
Which version are you using?
Added the audio to this boot animation:
http://www.mediafire.com/?rcy6jrlffgu5rrn
I cannot test as I am trying out CM7 pre-beta4 right now, and as far as I know CM does not support animation audio. If anyone tries it, please let the rest of us know if it works OK.
Cheers!

This is similar. Change permissions appropriately and reboot after you drop it in.
Thanks. That was the right sound for the ICS tick. I had to actually replace the file called TW_Touch.ogg on the GB ROM with the effecttick.ogg. I did rename it, etc. Turns out that TW will use it but it blasts it so loud that it is almost as bad as the TW sound was. I had to edit the effecttick.ogg file in Audacity by lowering the gain to an acceptable level for me. Then redid the process. Worked like a champ and now I have the sound I was looking for.
I've attached the file I made in case anyone wants to do it to.
