[MOD] Theme Fix for DL09 and observations - Fascinate Android Development

I've been using DL09 since it's initial release thanks to Adynalyne on IRC. One of the first things to note is it will break most themes out there. If the theme you are using adds Power Options to the reboot menu, then your phone will not boot if you flash that theme onto DL09. I have simply reapplied that mod to the DL09 framework to fix this issue.
Flash this AFTER you flash a DJ05 theme that uses Power Options, it will fix the theme and make it work with DL09.
Theme Fix: http://www.mediafire.com/?2d3bs639daggjz7 ONLY FOR DL09 USERS
Other mods such as Accurate Battery do not break your phones boot, and any mods to Services.jar (such as clock removal) also will not break your phones boot.
Now for my other observations with DL09, I see no major improvement from DJ05. Other than it breaking DJ05 themes, there is only ONE improvement I noticed. If you are listening to music with headphones and the Samsung Music Player, when you unplug your headphones the music player will stop, a much appreciated addition. Other than that, functions just like DJ05.
Enjoy DL09, and with the fix, enjoy your favorite theme with it ^^.
EDIT: For those having issues with Mediafire I have re-uploaded it as an attachment.

Thanks for the fix and observation.

You sir, are the MAN. Thank you, worked on my Accurate battery mod/reboot menu like a CHAMP !!!!
Life is complete

thank you good sir!!

Damn media fire just keeps looping when I try to download

Perhaps a stupid question, but will this work with the Super Dark rom? Link below. I just want to make sure I don't screw up my phone now that I've went through all the hassle of adding DL09 and reinstalling all my applications.

Im using the superdark theme and it works fine......as long as you apply the dl09 theme fix.

Keep in mind, Super Dark ROM is exactly what it says it is, a ROM, and a DJ05 ROM at that. If you went through the hassle of going to DL09, I would not suggest flashing the Super Dark ROM as that'll put you back to DJ05 system. I would suspect that flashing the DL09 Theme Fix on top of a DJ05 system is a very bad idea. You can find separately the Super Dark theme, which would probably be a better idea .

For some reason, I can't get the download to work. When I click on where is says "Click here to download" on the Mediafire page it takes me to a page that says "error - forbidden you must log in to view this page" and then like 2 or 3 other pages pop up with really weird stuff on them. What am I doing wrong?

Dear CrushD,
The music has stopped playing when the headphones are unplugged since the dj05 update. I've been enjoying this feature for a while in the car.

I can't download this either. Mediafire says it's preparing the download and it never pops up. Any help or mirrors would be greatly appreciated!

Weird, maybe it depends on the ROM, because it didn't for me, and my friend is still on DJ05 and it doesn't for him either. I was talking about the Samsung Music Player, I've heard other music players were already doing it.
Edit: Actually I am back to DJ05 right now, feel there's still some issues to be ironed out with DL09, and yes pulling headphones does NOT stop the Samsung Music Player in DJ05, it is new to DL09.

Thanks for adding the file Crush! I really appreciate it!

I am using the DJ05 music player in the JT super clean .9 rom and it indeed does stop the music on headphone removal. This was a feature called out in the "release notes" of DJ05 too: "12) If you unplug a wired headset or turning off a Bluetooth headset while playing music the music will now pause"

Music def. does pause in DJ05.

Ahh I don't remember that well, but I'm guessing then that I flashed JT's clean DJ05 then I put the DI01 Samsung Player in my system and using it the whole time as is, because my DJ05 didn't do it -.-.

[Q] Tired of flashing

I'm looking for a fast, stable rom? Any suggestions or personal preferences?

I say try these 3 ROMS and chose one, i found all 3 best, but currently i'm using ginger clone and seem to be sticking with it because i love the feel of Gingerbread.
-Ginger Clone R2
-Axura 2.2
-Nero Final Version
Alright thanks

2.1 - Bionix Fusion
2.2 - Nero R3 (Enable Voodoo after flashing)
Both VERY stable for me and very fast.

Yep. JL5 just works, period. Don't want to flash, go with something rock solid. Takes 10 minutes to strip the bloat and then you've got a great ROM.
I can't seem to stop using Bionix Final R1. I've gone to 2.2 ROMs many times (six now, various permutations of Obsidian, Nero and Axura) and have always ended up restoring my nandroid backup of Bionix Final R1.
Nothing else just seems to get me the same level of performance, stability and battery life. And I absolutely prefer the Bionix UI look to any of the newer ROMs...
I really do hate that I can't seem to stick with a Froyo ROM, but I dunno. I guess because the 2.1 source has long since been released, the ROMs just feel more rock-solid...
Might be switching to Nero V3 + Blue Gingerbread morph, though... getting tired of not being able to use the Gmail and Maps updates.

Can you write a small quick tutorial on what tools you use and how you remove the bloat (and which bloatware in particular)? Thanks in advance.
Well, not sure how useful my guide would be - I cheat a bit.
I use Titanium Backup.
After I restore my backed up applications I go to the Backup / Restore tab.
Menu > Filters
Select "Not backed up" under "Filter by status:"
Apply
Now I'm just looking at the apps not in my backup set - things that were installed by the new ROM.
Personally I drop just about anything in the ROM that didn't come from Google, with the exception of the video player (better codec support), Bluetooth bits and pieces (since Samsung uses a different Bluetooth stack) and the Samsung music player.
I think I'm going to be rooting the wife's phone later to upgrade her to JL5 - I'll try to make an exhaustive list then.

[Q] Strange...phone shuts off

Hey Guys,
Having an issue that I just can't seem to figure out. First, my phone specs:
Running EB01 Modem & JT's EB01 Voodoo Kernel w/SuperClean 2.2 Voodoo, ASOP Lock, Power & Battery Mod (via Domush walkthrough).
Now the problem: my phone just shuts off completely when it feels like it and the only way to get it back on is to do a battery pull. Searched the forums and throught it might be the proximity sensor, but flashed it back to stock and it was fine. It seems to happen randomly. It's not the battery because each time i turn it back on it have plenty of battery life. I've tried freezing all my apps and it still does it as well.
Is there someting i'm missing? Anyone else have an idea?
Thank you in advance
My first suggestion is backup your apps and do a wipe wipe wipe. See if that corrects problem.
Let us know

I had that happen a couple times as well with SC 2.1. I only ran it for a couple days before SC 2.2 came out. After flashing 2.2 over 2.1, and wiping the cache a couple times, I haven't had it happen again. Then again I only upgraded yesterday, so it may yet happen again. Time will tell.

So far so good....I wiped x3 everything (cache, davik, everything) and it seems to have worked. Thank guys. I'll let you know if it acts up again.
Come to find out it was a rom prob, fixed in the forums, called the sleep of death.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
FWIW, I did not have the problem with 2.2, and now have upgraded to SC 2.4, and the issue still has not returned. It does seem like I have to hit the power button twice to wake it up once in a while, but it never fails to wake up.
Posted from my EB01 SuperClean Fascinate with Voodoo
It seems to have only happen when you do the steps in a certain order. It's all fixed with the patch.
Actually, it's NOT been fixed with the patch. If you read the thread, the people that thought it worked had it come back after a few hours of use. The only way I've been able to "fix" it thus far is to go back to the stock ebo1 rom. FWIW, the problem for me seems to resurface after I access any media. The first time was after I listened to music through Poweramp and the latest was after watching a video in media hub.

Hmm, I'll have to check it out....I went through my photos and it worked fine after that. I use Audiogalaxy so I don't have music on my phone. I'll go run a video and see if that triggers it. Good looking out JJRocker
This so far has been an issue that's really hard to find info for and it's driving me nuts...lol. So yeah, even though I'm far from being an expert, I'm trying my best to figure out what's causing it so that I can work around it or better yet, help the devs out since they are the real experts here. Adrynalyne put a test patch up and asked people to report on it, so it would probably help a lot if everyone having the problem would post their results in this thread. He's the guy that's probably most likely to figure this out. Also, that link has the patch if you want to give it a shot.
One thing I should probably mention is that at least in my case, once the SOD surfaces, it happens about every 4th to 5th wakeup until I reflash the rom or go to another one. So if you've experienced it already, there's a good chance you won't be able to cure it without a reflash.
Ive noticed there is a certain population of folks who have it, and a larger population of those who do not.
I've been researching for hours on end, with no clear common resolution.
For some, not using Titanium to restore apps fixes it.
For some, my test patch works.
For some, a double reboot fixes it.
I had it happen once, ever, and it was on stock eb01. It never happened again. I myself have noticed increased instability on eb01 using maps and gps, however. A couple days ago, launching maps, and turning on the gps afterwards hard locked my device.
@adrynalyne
Exactly.
It seems that mine is fixed with the patch in both of your SuperClean 2.3 & 2.4, I've tried different media and it seems fixed. Only time will tell tho.
And thank you for all that you do with this phone. It had such great potenital and with you and folks like jt, it's making this phone amazing!
It's strange....I had it happen once this morning and now I can't replicate it. I have used Titanium to restore apps but I only restore one app, AndroidPit App Center. I need it to download ADW EX and Beautiful Widgets since they take PayPal and my debit card doesn't do foreign currency.
Anyway, someone at Android Central suggested avoiding ADW because people were reporting issues with the SOD and that launcher. So, I'm gonna run LP+ for a while and see how that works out.
I have been using ADW EX and no real problems...
...but I didn't think about it, I did clear out me Titanium Backup and just reDownloaded stuff this time. Maybe the backups are the culprit?
Well, right now I'm starting over on SC 2.4 and trying all the remedies I've seen posted thus far. I wiped data and cache, flashing SC 2.4. I'm going to skip the backup assistant since it might try to restore apps that were restored by Titanium. I'll run LP+ and flash a theme (VA green is my current fave...love the BA). Gonna restore my apps manually from the market and I'll even double reboot when I'm all done...lol. Anyway, wish me luck...the real test will be tomorrow at work. I use HandBase to keep track of things so I put my phone in and out of sleep a lot during the day.
And also, many thanks to Adrynalyne and all the other great devs here. The work put into this stuff is much appreciated. I wouldn't put this much effort into getting this working if SC wasn't such an amazing ROM.

When I redid it again my aps were automatically restoring themselves. So to save you some sanity, make sure you go into privacy and turn off "Backup my settings" and "Restore my settings" as well. It may be dimmed out, but it will sutomatically restore them as well. It's doesn't really do much from what I can tell (I still have to manually add passwords to wifis, which it says it backs up)
Ya know, maybe that's the cuplrit of this whole shabang
Ok, so I had the SOD on LP+ too. Out of curiosity, is anyone with this problem using Switchpro widget or another power control widget that changes brightness? The one thing that seems to always precede the SOD for me has been installing and putting this widget on my desktop. Also, one time I did have it before I installed the widget and checked my screen timeout settings...there was nothing checked which is the same as having the screen never turn off. Apparently, backup assistant restored the setting automatically from a previous flash. Also, I think Super Clean has a power control widget on one of the homescreens by default if I remember correctly. Everything was running great, couldn't get it to SOD, so I started installing some of my apps and put the switchpro widget on my main homescreen, and got SOD on the very next wakeup.
I believe I may have found my culprit!! But before I say, let me recap:
I backed up using TiB. Flashed everything back to DI01 and got the OTA update. Restarted, then flashed to DL09. Reboot, Flashed to Deoxed EB01. I also kept the origional kernel, didn't meess with it because I believed that it was the cuplrit, I am assuming I'm wrong. Everything was good. Slowly started adding programs back seeing which one will kill my phone. I finally found it......it was YouMail.
If you are using this product, you can have it on to your system and it will work. But as soon as it receives its notification of a New Voice Mail notification from their servers. It locks up. Hopfully uninstallation and a reboot will take it away, but only time will tell. I'll report back in.

KaosFroyo v39 problems.

Were to start -_-
1. the power button doesnt lock my phone.
2. gps does not work, anything gps related fails (Gps status, Locations)
3. Camera does not work (vignette app does work)
4. video recorder does not work
5. 3d gallery is more a 1 fps slide show.
6. when in gallery and i switch the phone sideways, it shows 6 images of the gallery distorted (unusable)
I did a fresh rom install, and still these problems persist.
cleared cache and all.
common problems or is it just this phone....
I have all the same issues with the exception of not being able to lock it. Change the camera from autofocus to touch focus, and get rid of the 3d gallery, Eris cannot handle it sadly.

+1 xtrSENSE, IMHO you won't find a better 2.1 ROM, or if you want stock but without sense home itself, xtrROM. Both excellent.
xtrsense is really the smoothest Ive used too.

Hmm. I just clicked on the link and it downloaded the gps fix for me instantly, it won't actually open a page as its a direct download. Did you try accessing the link with your phone or comp? Try the phone, and while it may be a pain in the ass, use an alternate browser temporarily for the link such as Dolphin Mini.

It's pretty simple and essentially the same process that you used to install KF. You are already rooted, so you now need to download the xtrSENSE5.0.1.zip file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726467
Copy that zip file to your SD card and then use the following procedure:
- shut down the phone
- restart in recovery by holding down VolUp while you start the phone until you see the Amon_RA recovery screen
- go to the Backup/Restore menu
- Choose Nandroid backup
- When that is done, press VolDn to return to the main menu
- Go to the Wipe menu
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Wipe Dalvik cache
- Press VolDn to go back to the main menu
- Choose Flash a zip from SD card
- Choose the xtrSENSE5.0.1.zip file
- restart the phone
I had kaosfroyo v39 for only a few minutes before i flashed a cyanogenmod7 gingerbread rom which made me much happier

I flip back and forth between xtrSENSE and one or two of the GB ROMs weekly; I, like many others, have been running the GB ROMs for many months now. They are very stable and much, much better than KF at this point.
I find it hard to find speed differences between ROMs after things have been running for a while. About the only difference I see is battery life - the GB ROMs are more efficient than xtrROM and xtrSENSE, all things being equal, on my phone. xtrSENSE is excellent, all of the GB ROMs are great and well-supported at this time. Sometimes there are updates to the GB ROMs that may break some functionality but they are always fixed by the next update - just read the comments in those threads to see and you can always download and flash an older version if you need something to work. You cannot go wrong with either choice.
well so far nearly 24hrs with the xtrsense rom and loving the speed and smoothness so far. there are a few things i liked to have kept from the froyo rom to this one but i'd rather have the smoothness and quickness than the few things i liked more from the froyo rom. still re-learning everything tho

Shouldn't have anything to do with Google Music. I've got it running post UOT mod.
The music player tried to access wifi
for a library but I ran it through the process and it found my library on the sd card. I have the stock rom rooted and used UOT Kitchen to make it.
It is a weird thing. Every time I access something through CWM, my ringtones get changed. But it is never the same ringtone. It is like it chooses a random ringtone to default to.
I do enjoy the battery icon. It does work and so does my stock music player.
Here is a circle battery icon with percentage that I 'cooked' for stock 1.02.605.6.
I cooked one up and haven't noticed any issues.
I also cooked up a slightly different circle icon that seems to be working perfectly fine for stock 1.02.605.6. However, when I tried cooking a different .zip to flash with a custom status bar and icons it didnt' seem to work properly.
Now I'm off to see if I can't find a way to customize those features manually (I'm sure there is). I'd really like to make my E911 notification gone for good and I'd like to make the rest of them dark red. Guess I'll see what I can find.

Possibly the Weirdest Problem I've Had

I'm walking around to some bars last night, you know, just minding my own business, and I decided to check my phone on the way back to the car. I had previously installed Atom Launcher the two days before, and I've been playing with it ever since. Then I had to install the update for Beats Installer so Beats will work in Spotify - I need to listen to some jams, and the Beats stuff does help a bit.
The installer said it needed to reboot. I'm all, "Okay. It needs a reboot anyhow." (I usually hit cancel. I guess I should have again.)
So it reboots.
No lock screen. Can't unlock my way in. The only way is to slide down the notification bar, go into settings, then press the home button.
Okay! I'm on the home screen! Let's open up Spotify so I can listen to some jams on my way home. Yeah! Wait. No audio? And now it's randomly rebooting?!
Vigor 360 1.1, you had one job. You're going to make me have to go back to Infeffabilis Deus 1.2!
And so I did, reluctantly.
Can anyone give me a possible solution? Also, before it's asked, everything Sense-wise has been uninstalled (launcher, weather, etc.). I do not have a single clue why or how, as I didn't authorize that action.

If you're gonna de-sensify, unless you need some specific feature, consider just going to an AOSP rom.
I'd check the Vigor 360 1.1 thread to see if anyone else has had this issue, not sure why you'd ever leave the Dues if you want a Sense based rom though..

Well, I didn't want to de-sensify, per se. I like the features of Sense, it adds on to the system (and the camera software is better than in AOSP). I did start getting better battery life with Vigor360 and that's one reason why I switched to it, though my only issue with it was that Google Play Services would not install, which caused some minor annoyances. But I'll be sticking to Deus again, as I did before.

I was figuring as much. I just didn't know if there was a way to fix that. I could probably crack open the ROM zip and replace the files, but I have no clue how well that would work out. lol
Unless the dev is doing something in the installer script to force a wipe, a dirty flash will only wipe and replace your /system partition.

But I'll be sticking to Deus again, as I did before.
I was figuring as much. I just didn't know if there was a way to fix that. I could probably crack open the ROM zip and replace the files, but I have no clue how well that would work out. lol

I use NEO 2.0.. it has the BEST battery life of any Rezound Rom to date... I'm an Audio junkie as well.. I use Bluetooth headphones and battery life is awesome. Plus It's a desensed Rom but you still have the Sense camera and music player.
