Hello guys,
This is my first post in this great looking forum & Happy New Year 2011
I have a Sony Ericsson X10a phone from Canada's wireless provider Rogers. and I've tried unlocking it by buying a code from one of the unlocking sites out there, (am I allowed to say the sites' name?!) but it didn't work! They told me I had to check the attempts and whatnot, so they refused to give me my money back.
I followed this tutorial (below) but it didn't work out for me. and I have a feeling that Rogers locked this phone so damn good it can't be unlocked.

Okay guys.
Here is new X10flash for Firmware 2.1 Version (old 1.6 Firmware can not be flashed with this at the moment).
Windows 7/Vista Users should diasable UAC!!
Download Flasher: (Update 14.11.2010) GUI VERSION!!!
http://www-stud.uni-due.de/~sfanmakr/X10Flash/X10Flash-2.1.zip
HOWTO for Flasher here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8976947&postcount=1
You will see that there is a new Folder "firmware" the firmware files must be inside this folder!
Download Firmware:
X10i:
http://www.multiupload.com/G9TENJASZI Nordic Thanks to imugur and Reb0rn
http://www.multiupload.com/RTIIRCEN79 GERMAN
http://www.multiupload.com/YM6SANFJXK CH (thanks to pippolino)
X10a:
http://www.multiupload.com/M048IDMI4L ROGERS (thanks to henh)
http://www.multiupload.com/ZGI6JWKIPG GENERIC (thanks to BluechipJ & batman112)
Put the extracted files into the new "firmware" Folder and run the X10flash.bat
SO-01:
http://www.multiupload.com/E3C7FRFAQ9 DOCOMO (thanks to indigomode)
You have to wipe your USERDATA !! This is important, otherwise you will enter Bootloops etc.
Also be sure SEUS is NOT running! (But at least it should have detected your phone once)
THIS FIRMWARE IS ONLY FOR X10 NOT FOR MINI (PRO) or X8 !
But the flashtool should be capable of flashing all Xperia Series now!
If someone decrypts the Rom you can try it
Regards
Bin4ry
If you have more ROMS, just drop me a PN and i will add them to this post!
IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS LIKE "Unable to Open Channel" please try this guide:

The Rogers logo is now gone after what I believe was flashed (and/or rooted) but the sim card is still locked.
Any chance I can format, update/upgrade, and "sim" unlock my phone?

Hi.
You've debranded your phone, but simlocking is different, and there is no free way at the moment, so you'll need to have a browse of the numerous unlock threads to see which services people have used and decide for yourself.
And if you've been ripped off post the name of the company so others can avoid them.

So debranding the phone won't unlock it and you say "there's no free way atm."
and what do you mean by services?
Do you mean unlocking sites and/or paid programs?
The site is cellunlocker.net but I don't know if the code would've worked if I had enough attempts, but I still doubt that the code sent to me is genuine!
any chance of formatting the phone so I can have 5 or 10 new attempts?!
Thanks for your reply.

Because I've read numerous threads on it over the last 6 months of being a member here. Loads of people have successfully unlocked their phones, the problem is however they've all had to pay. As for the Cellunlocker, some HERE have said it worked for them, so not sure why it didn't for you, and you'll find other suggestions HERE

Well, his codes are manufacturer codes not carrier ones. If you check other sites the price is between $35-$40 for the Xperia X10. I have tried many sites with no success. But Lancez has provided me with the correct codes within 10 days and they worked from the first attempt. You can also read the review about his service from other members who used it on the same thread I gave you earlier. I have unlocked two X10a's through him with no problem.

$20 from here for Rogers x10a (That's what I am and what I got unlocked)
Confirmed worked. Got my code within 2 days.
If you don't know, you need to put in a sim card that ISNT rogers in order for it to ask you to input your unlock code. Perhaps your code actually does work but you didn't put it in the right place? It took me a while to figure this out

Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked before, but the forums are full of offers to unlock via a web service for 20 quid, etc.
Having picked up a Hero yesterday and rooted it, I was wondering if there is a (free) application to SIM unlock the phone, like the redsn0w app for the iPhone (my previous phone)?
TIA.
Rich.
I believe if you follow MoDaCo's instructions to debrand your Hero, this will effectively unlock it as there is a complete rebuild of the firmware.
May be wrong though...

I tried a backup/wipe/burn with a few of the ROMS (MoDaCo Custom Hero ROM, HTC Generic 1.79.482.3), but no luck - when I put in a non-orange SIM, it comes up with the "SIM network unlock PIN" message.
I'll try posting directly on MoDaCo to see if there are any insights...

Thanks for confirming. I already bit the bullet and paid for an unlock in the end at http://www.unlock-now.com. Worked well - took about 15 mins for the code to come through 17.50 Euro / £15.
So it has been announced today that the first kits will be released this Sunday Evening. In Nordic Countries. (Finland, Iceland Sweden etc.)
Considering we all suspected UK to be the first to obtain 2.1, a lot of people have flashed to Generic UK.
Is it still possible to flash to Nordic Generic? Only if needed
Thanks in advance.

Yes, but how do you flash those two files. They have no extension
You have to use the SEUS method explained in the tutorial, dont think you can use the FLASH TOOL with these.
Dont forget that you need 50% battery

Will not work
Jumping to Nordic Firmware will not help you to get the latest ROM for 2.1 when it's releases. SEUS and OTA will read your device for hidden manufacturing data and only allow devices built for that market to receive the update. I described this several times in the general 2.1 coversation. SEUS will know if your device was built for T-Mo UK, AT&T, HK Generic, LAM Generic, etc... and force you to wait for your approved version. Sony Ericsson is firm in their commitment to complying with all legal and compliance standards of various countries and operators. Sorry but you'll just have to wait your turn.
Come on you TROLL, this is a complete nonsense ! Just keep your mouth shut if you've got no idea what u are talking about.

It's not nonsense. For one SEUS can read your IMEI number. Instant disapproval of firmware right there. There are also other hidden mechanisms in SEUS and OTA to overcome you spoofing IMEI or similar attacks.
SE has you beat because that's how they want it. This is not an open developer phone. This is a consumer phone. Even HTC has begun locking you out through hardware controls that eliminate ROOT and Custom FW. Android is now owned by the carriers and the manufacturers must comply. Appeal to Meizu if you want Developer devices in the future. They'll likely bend over for any type of sale at the moment.

Hi all. Picked up a locked galaxy the other day and just wondering if anyone can help me unlock it to any sim or is there a universal unlock for this yet? Thanks
which country is selling the sg3 locked? I thought they were all carrier unlocked..not sure about the U.S. ones that will come though.
Here in Holland there is an option to buy a T-mobile branded phone: by the smartphoneshop online here.
If you select the Galaxy S3 you can choose to buy the simlock-free version or the T-mobile versoin (cheaper).
I think this one could be sim-locked.
Maybe someone experiencing this same problem?
(sorry can't post links yet...)
Got mine yday from Vodafone and is locked (unlock code on the way ).
On Vodafone Spain also locked. Where are you getting your unlock code from?
Phone is locked to Three, and I'm in Ireland. Anyone know how to unlock this?
Anyone?
Someone must have an unlock method for this by now?

Does anyone know?
I've tried to reflash several different stock roms but nothing worked. Its still locked.
Picked up what i thought was a unlocked (even says "not carrier branded" on my recite). And its locked, i called them and they apparently had the wrong phones shipped to them or whatever.
So now i'm stuck with a locked SGS3 until monday (the store has closed until then..) Cant call or sms. it sucks. Anyone know how I can fix this?
As of yet an unlock method has not been posted .
You can ask or pay your network to unlock .

Nah the carrier won't give me the unlock code.

Someone surely has been working on an unlock for the S3?

Hi everyone,
I have bought a new Unlocked ( by imei ) ATT ATRIX from ebay. Everything's perfect . I am using it on my country ( in South America ) with my own mobile's carrier. So, my question is.... Once I unlock the bootloader and then flash a new rom ( as cm10 by joker or anything else ) I would like to hear from you guys ( international users like me ) if After flashing a new rom you have to UNLOCK the att carrier like when It was on stock rom. I am afraid of the phone to ask me the unlock code after flashing a new rom for first time .
Thank you guys.
IMEI unlock, especially if done by the original carrier itself (like AT&T) is virtually permanent and irreversible no matter what you do. I called AT&T and they gave me the SIM unlock code for my (american-based) Atrix. After unlocking it with that code I did all sorts of things with the phone (rooted, booted, flashed, wiped, flashed again...) and I never had to so much as even think of the SIM ever being locked. I am also using it outside the US.

Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong topic or been asked before
My dad has a Galaxy S2 on TMobile UK and it works well.
I originally bought it last year, it was unlocked as it worked when I stuck my 3 SIM card in.
The device was then rooted and then I flashed this leaked JB Rom
Today my dad got a new Ovivo network SIM but the device said SIM unregistered, oddly enough so did my 3 SIM give the unregistered SIM when I tried it and was asking for a SIM network unlock code
But when I tried both SIMs in my Optimus 4x they worked fine.
My first thought was maybe the ROM flash re-activated the Network lock.
So I rooted the S2 and flashed another ROM but still only the TMobile SIM works and the other SIMs get the Unregistered SIM messages
I also tried some unlocking apps like Galaxy S2 SIM unlock, and Galaxy S unlock but to no avail
Can a network lock "reactivate" itself? and would I have to contact TMobile to unlock the device?

I did exactly same like you but after my phone won't switch the bluetooth on and there is no live picture when you using camera!
Don't you have the same problem? Actually I have 2 phones with same problem and both after sw downgrade+root+unlocking.
Anybody has any idea how I can fix it?
Thank you!

You're right, I tried it and it works.
Anyway it's a paid solution: Costs 3,69 EURO and it unlocks Samsung Galaxy S2 in an instant.
Latest Android 4.1.2 it doesn't matter after all. All you need to have before installing GalaxSim Unlock is SuperSU and BusyBox, these 2 are mandatory for a good functioning of GalaxSim application.
Thanks u So much
