What do you guys think about Navigation and Timescape - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what do you guys think about Navigation ( the icon with the blue arrow pointing upward) and timescape. Do you think they are junk apps and should be deleted? I dont really use timescape.... whats is it for and is their function worth keeping??? Thanks.

trying timescape out now but so far im not really liking it. seems like it will just run the battery down faster

I absolutely hate them, i got rid of timescape, wish i could get rid of mediascape
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

timescape depends on the user's preference actually. I really like timescape tbh. try it out first and see if you find it useful. navigation is pretty awesome and I wouldn't remove it. nothing comes close to navigation for me.

I think there is a way. If you have titanium backup you can but its a couple of stuff you have to remove.

best way to keep the notification bar hidden

question in title
i know launcher pro does this but when you open up an app (like handscent sms) it shows up again.
is there any app or anything to remove the notification bar universally?
I use the zeam launcher. That has an option that almost always hides it. Hope that helps.

so does Launcherpro, i was hoping there's some sort of individual app just for removing the notification bar?
im prettyed used to launcherpro and would prefer to stick with it
I dont know of a way to do it in apps, but if you want it gone on your lockscreen as well, I use Widget Locker to accomplish this as well as place a bunch of widgets Im always using right on my lockscreen

damn, i guess our phones just aren't meant to not have the not. bar.
only reason i'd like to have it gone is so I can further depend on widgets, just for the hell of it.
zeam launcher does it for me all the time once i hide it its gone in any app i open

Status bar clock

Is there any way to remove the clock in the status bar on Nero V3?
Sent from my Galaxy S via XDA App
I wonder if removing the reference to the clock in the arrays.xml file in the framework-res.apk would work? Chances are its not that simple. Why dont you want a clock?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I know I use Beautiful Widgets so having both clocks is redundant, but I live with it. That being said, if I could remove it easily I would.
Why not just use a different launcher? I use adw ex launcher, which can give me the gingerbread look and get rid of the status bar. I haven't noticed any extra lag either.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I am using adw.ex and I also use clock... so yea.... having redundant times bother me.
I want to see my status bar for circle battery mod and other notifications. I hate seeing the clock up there.

been looking for this too... anybody?
I'm guessing it wouldn't be that hard to get rid of it, but I think you might just have an empty space where it used to be afterwards. You'd probably have to edit some XML files if you didn't want a huge waste of space on your status bar. I could be wrong though. I've never heard of anyone wanting to do such a thing. Do you guys just play with your launchers all day? You've never been in an app like the browser and been curious of what time it was? I think it would be a pain to exit an app every time I cared to know what time it was. To each his own I guess.

hi, could you make a m.m. To get rid of the am,pm that would be awesome

You could just lock the screen check the time instead of exit then unlock the screen and go back into what ever you were doin
You can try making a metamorph.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-themes/31902-mm-theme-no-clock.html
I'd just like to remove the AM/PM notification, ala Gingerbread, as this is the single most common element of the UI burned into the LED screen (probably since it's the most static).
Anyone have luck with this?
The statusbar clock is in the services.jar file. You'd have to know how to edit .smail's to take it out. There is a writeup on the EVO forum. Not sure if it can apply to the Galaxy S.

[Q] Bionix 1.2.1?

Hey guys I'm running Bionix V right now but I'm going to update to V 1.2.1.
So I'm wondering what the differences are between the 'Gingerbread' and the 'Touchwiz' editions? And in your opinions which is better and why?
I would just flash both of them to find out myself but I hate having to import my contacts, apps, sms/mms, and other things individually everytime. Unless you know of an app that makes it quick and easy to do all at once.
If someone could explain the differences I think I could make the right choice the first time
Thanks
Edit:
Also I've been hearing good/maybe bad things about V 1.2.1
Should users upgrade or stay with V? I'll keep you posted when I upgrade I've been a little busy lately
The difference is how the phone looks. When you hit the home button, your desktop, or launcher, has icons, widgets, etc.
The gingerbread one looks like standard, non themed gingerbread.
TouchWiz looks more like your vibrant did out of the box. I personally find it incredibly ugly so I prefer the gingerbread theme.

Yes, I have been. I really don't think it matters which one you install if you're planning on installing a 3rd party launcher, anyway.

Oh really the only difference between the touchwiz and gingerbread is the launcher?
And how customizable are each of them and maybe I wouldn't need a third party launcher?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
The only advantage I can think of for using touchwiz is that it comes with the Samsung apps installed as well.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
That's what I want to get rid of. All the apps like mobileTV, amazon, kindle, all the bloatware.
So gingerbread is the way I should go?

I'm not sure if it comes with the bloatware, but it would come with the Samsung widgets that are available using TouchWiz. (One example is the "Friends" widget that updates facebook and twitter)
But if you're planning on using LauncherPro or any other launcher, all of this is moot anyway. I'd recommend the Gingerbread version because I like the notification bar and stock android is so much better looking than TouchWiz in every aspect.
EDIT: You asked earlier how to import contacts and things; you should sync them with Google as it makes the transition between ROMs seamless. Also, Titanium Backup can backup and restore all of your apps and data. (This excludes SMS). Finally, I use SMS backup to backup all of my texts/MMS to gmail for safekeeping
Thanks wearmaize
I'll go with gingerbread. I use sms and titanium backup they work great.
But last time I synced with google it didn't save all my contacts when I flashed so I don't know if somethings wrong or I'm doing it wrong

I have been hearing conflicting posts about the new Bionix version...I think i'll just stick with V

Next time you sync with google, check your contacts online using a computer to make sure they're all there.
As for Bionix, I'd recommend v 1.2 or v 1.2.1. I find v 1.2 to be the most stable, but I've only been on v 1.2.1 for a day so I can't really say for sure. Both are great.

[Q] is there away to get shortcuts in the notification bar

I never seen this so i was thinking if there is a way to get app shortcuts in the notification bar?
Beqouse when im in a app i want to swich fast between apps i use allot.
Now i need to close the app to start a other one.
So i realy hope if there is a way
Try SwipePad from the market.
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
Or hold the home button to bring up a list of last used apps.
You could make a new quick option button that opens an app.
by modding an old one
pvy.
i realy hoped that its whas modded already.
Swipepad is not what im looking for.
Holding the home button wil shut down the app and then i need to start a app again.
And go back to the other app so it wil not help.
I can't mod i dont have any knowledge about linux, app making or modding.
I realy hope some body can make this working beqouse i realy think others are searching for this option to.
Folder Organiser does that!
Also QuickLaunchBar might come in handy for you.
thats not what i mean.
thanks all for thinking with me.
But i realy mean shortcuts in the notification bar.
But i gues its not possible or not modded yet.

How many apps have you already installed in the Note?

Just curious, how many you have installed?
Mine is 68 in Google play market and the total is 215 with Titanium Backup Display (include system apps.). Not sure that many of apps are slowing my Note down.
26 user apps, 169 total including system apps. I'm running TPC v2, Da_G's PC kernel @ 1.83 GHz, and all bloat removed. No lag whatsoever, my phone is fast as hell.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
According to Appbrain..
Apps: 211 total, 176 free (83%), 35 paid (16%)
TiBu says "384 elements" whatever that means.

Mine is stock rooted, I have no lag... I switched to Launcher Pro though, although I was kind of liking CheeseWhiz's launcher, it's not really that bad but the fact that folders in the apptray and folders in the launcher desktop were completely separate pissed me off.. In hindsight if I really wanted to use CheeseWhiz I could have just put all of the apps I want to hide in one folder and not otherwise had folders in the apptray, but I spent 30 minutes or so organizing apps in folders in my apptray only to find out you couldn't put those folder on the desktop then. WTF?
40 apps not more!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I'm using ADW EX for my launcher as well, which can do a lot for reducing lag if you have any. My phone didn't have lag anyways before I went away from stock, I just like being able to flash stuff and mess with my phone. Also, more importantly than the national increase in performance, rooting allows me to mod my phone's theme much more with custom status bar icons and such using UOT kitchen. Any reason you're staying stock?

No lag in ADW EX? You must have very few icons, folders, and Widgets on your device. I found ADW EX really jittery, especially with the fancy folders on. Even disabling that, it was jittery. I eventually just went back to Launcher Pro.
300+...been keeping since my Evo days
have try thousands but most are junk so i uninstall
just need one more app to make perfect.....that app that makes your camera flash when you receive a text or call....does anyone know of any that works for the note?

I only ever use one home screen with 5 apps and one minimalistic text widget. That being said, adding more screens and populating them did not show any lag still, and my app drawer is totally smooth and opens instantly as well. Who knows, maybe your device doesn't like ADW EX?
I don't like having more than one home screen, because I don't use a ton of widgets, and I only have a handful of apps I use often. everything else can go in my app drawer.

Everything goes in my app drawer I dont have a single icon not on my launcher or app drawer. Only 3 widgets too. Facebook, time/weather, and google voice widget.

Im totally stock, non rooted and see no lag, have all the bloatware still in and have install about 6 more.
I have loads of apps installed. It doesn't seem to be slower bit both quadrant and antutu get slower results each time I add an app AND I definitely notice battery performance degrades as I add more apps.
