G-Alarm for Android Beta - Streak 5 Themes and Apps

I really missed this when I moved from WinMo and am glad to see it is being developed for Android. I plan on installing it to help out with any bugs. The one thing I haven't been able to find is an alarm app that allowed me to set an alarm to sound every two weeks, once a month, etc. G-Alarm in WinMo allowed this and I hope to find it in the Android version.
Find it here should you wish to try it:

Looking for a simple alarm clock for xda 1 (ppc2002)

Does anyone have a link to a simple "set it at night / switch off in the morning" alarm clock for PPC2002?
The alarm function supplied as standard requires you to know a week in advance what days you want to set an alarm for... I'm not that well organised.
I just need an alarm I can easily set the night before, regardless of what day it is and have it wake me up in the morning.
Cheers!

search google for AlarmClock. Simple and effective freeware.
Thanks but I have been searching and googling and nearly all I come across are business related or mutiple alarms and so on...
If someone is using a simple alarm they can recommend, I can end my quest with a good night's sleep (only to be woken by the alarm the following morning)...

Hi,
I like one from http://www.burroak.on.ca/pta.html. Although it is not free, it's gently simply to use. When you check all days of week active, you can switch over alarm on and off by one button. I'm also looking for something easy to operate and, even more urgently, with small using of memory!!! I would like to take some link.

Oh - error message solving: try link without dot on the end.

Thanks for the info!
Just had a look at Ptravelalarm and it looks good. I don't mind paying the price as it is par to a cheap travel clock...
But if anyone can do us a better deal and knows of a small freeware that would do the same job we would be greatly appreciated.
Personally, I recommend WolfClock. It's freeware, and has worked beautifully for me on my Wallaby (a T-Mobile Pocket PC).
Many of the other alarm clocks I have tried (including several purchased ones) where unreliable. IE: They would not go off if I had the charger connected, or if I did not have the clock open when the device went on standby, etc.
WolfClock has proven to be very reliable for me. It has quite a few features, so is probably more than you were looking for, but I would recommend taking a look anyway.

Yes, it may be "overcomplicated" but I like the sound of it... I am a digital artist and the ability to put my own artwork in as the background is interesting.
Many thanks for the info!

Any of the Genius' want to take a stab at TouchFlo 2d for our Titan's?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425694&page=8
DCD well be on the job, i'm sure of it , or if not i would hope so
Thumbs up
Works brilliantly with my Titan, am running DCD 3.2.5 with it. There is a lag when scrolling thru emails and texts and an unsigned error when i try to open my photos and videos.
Killed my ram tho, had 22MB now down to 10MB, definitely made for vogue not titan. Gonna to tinker with it some more, some registry tweaking to see if i can make it perform faster but overall a great addition

do you have all the tabs working properly??? contacts, music, weather, programs, pictures....???
All my tabs are working just fine, it picked up all my contacts pictures in HTC home, i can call them just like i could before, i can scroll and read and send texts and emails, opera works great, audio manager is working great, its got my album covers showing, weather I just configured and it's working, haven't tried google maps search tab yet, will post and only other thing not working correctly is the keys in the settings tab, my wallpaper and sounds keys dont work, im getting no response when i press them, needs a lil more work but is working fluid and the lag from earlier seems to have disappeared
UPDATE:
My ram shot up to 17MB now
Everything works unbelievably well now!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425694
A uninstall and re-install did the trick for me, everything works as it should now. Ram isn't so bad, am averaging around 17 - 19MB, which is ok for now
I am trying it out, got most everything working besides the email or text messaging tab closing touchFLO randomly. It seems to be a memory hog too, bet it would run great on No2chems latest Cool UI, cant wait until they get a few more bugs worked out.

Fast and has great memory. You lose the camera though. Probably the best ROM I have run so far and he is still playing with it.
I have been running the initial 2d touch flo and the most recent version on my Sprint Mogul. A few minor bugs but otherwise it is running great. I am running it on DCD's 3.2.6. My RAM is hanging around 72% after some use.
The bugs include loss of volume control via the speaker icon at the screen top. And some problems getting the Opal audio manager to see my music.
The crew working on this project is really on the ball! Hope this helps anyone considering trying it out. So far I am happy...

Damn. I dont care for my camera anyhow. It comes in handy every once in a blue moon, but I'd rather have speed. Hmm. Maybe I should wait till a more stable version. flashing is killing me.
the development and hacking area of XDA has about 3-4 running threads about manilla2d with hundreds and hundreds of posts --- its a wreck.
Not to mention every htc owner is trying to get their own specific device going with this new touchflo. I would suggest that jeep14 rename this thread to something like "Manilla2d / Touchflo 2d development for the Titan" and we can use this as command central with some updated info in the first post. Otherwise its so unorganized.. Jeep14 help us get organized here buddy.
Just an FYI I have the latest touchflow2d on my device and half the features dont work. Just a status update to how bad this is. Not sure why every one else isnt jumping on board with this right now. it is like HTC Home 5.0 or something its GREAT!
I uninstalled the last version (which was hell) and installed the latest, and it still eats RAM like candy.
The next logical choice for me was to flash nuerom 3 pre1 and holy crap does that ROM fly! wow. no other words can describe it. I loaded again the latest M2D version on this ROM and it works awesome!
And I still have more RAM at boot than my buddies Kaiser.(almost )
This is sweet. I miss some of the functionality of DCD's finest but this rom (with 12 MB page pool) hauls ass.I will probably run this for a while and flash back to DCD, but for now this blows my mind!

I have no clue what issues you are having but I'll be glad to help if you can be more descriptive of your issues.
Also, no reason to make this another central thread. It will end up like the other two and tghen where would we be?

If not to make this thread an organized central thread then what is the point of this thread to begin with? just to beg DCD or GC to do something?? The thread name is misleading, that is my point.
I am running DCD's latest, and others are running this NoChem business which I have never tried (the rom is in beta, limited releases, and still has bugs)
My issues as of now, that i can name off the top of my head.
Youtube doesnt play (error playing the videos)
internet wont launch Opera
Album doesnt work at all, it recognizes no pictures
Havent tested music..
We do need a central thread for TITAN users, and we need it here. Not random posts spread through out XDA. Just common sense.
edit:
I installed and tested this, but bug and error reports just clutter the main threads. And to be honest, I am not much of a developer so I just sit back and watch things unfold. But keeping device-specific chat about this project right here in our forum may help others here.

1. I have no idea why the OP started the thread. Maybe it was to ask someone else to get it done. As I recall this was posted before any thing was released for other devices.
2. dcd 3.26 does not have some of the files that nueROM 3 pre 1 does. Probably why everything doesn't work right away.
3. Apparently you are missing a file of some sort. Which YouTube cab did you download? I am using the original YT.cab and it works but it could be something in my ROM that is helping. There is a reg patch to get opera working (assuming your Opera has been installed to Program files). Oh, there is someone reporting that they have YouTube working on dcd 3.26 in the YouTube thread so obviously it can work.
Install YoutubePlay
Open up Regedit
GO to:
HKLM>Software>HTC>Manila2D>InternetWidget>Customiz ed>0
Changed CustomizedURL to
\Program Files\youtubeplay\youtubeplay.exe
Did you install the new camera album? For music I had to install the older Kaiser audio manager and then the new audio manager.
4. No we don't. That just spreads it out even further. Heck, someone felt the need to open another thread about modifying the xml file. That one should be closed and the info kept in the skinning thread. The other problem is people wanting to be lazy and not read things that are going on. Then they post stupid crude like "does it work for my device?". That clogs up the threads with all kinds of fluff. If this program was only for the Titan I would be right with but since it is for a large number of devices it is in the appropriate forum. Of course, this is my personal opinion and since I am just a member I can't control what happens.
5. Your link is broken.

1. You are right on that, it was an early post. I just would like the member who started it to maintain the first post and rename the thread, if we are to keep using it. That's what I am really trying to say.
2. I have no objections to using the nochem rom, I would like to test it out, however I cant find a link and it seems to be a limited release item.
3. The youtube cab I used was HTCYouTubeQVGA.zip from the HTC YouTube from Diamond And Opal.Jade thread. I will investigate that thread some more, now that you mention that someone has it working. So you are saying I still have to use YoutubePlay and cant get that beautiful one above to play the videos? The app itself runs.
Opera, maybe an issue on my end... I think the Opera Mini install that I did may have been corrupt somehow, so I cant really attribute that to anything yet.
4. I saw the XML editing thread, and it was pointless. But back to point number 1, I believe that here in the Titan Upgrading forum we should have the dedicated thread for us TITAN users. Then we wont have so much clutter in the Hack and Dev forums from noobs asking too many questions. I see it as helping both parties.
5. Yea that link is broken.. i'll take it down.
Thanks for your help... I hope to get a nice TouchFlo 2d customized for the Titan .cab up here soon ... that would be great!

[Q] Scheduled alarm clock

Is there an alarm clock app that offer the feature where you can have an alarm set to activate every two weeks, monthly, etc? I have searched and searched but cannot find anything like this.
P.S. I am looking for something similar to the G-Alarm app for Windows Mobile.

Beginner looking for android app project to join.

I am an aspiring android developer trying to teach myself the language. I would like to find a project, maybe open source, that I can get involved in as a real world experience with android programming.
I am wondering if there are people here that are either working on, or who could recommend, a project that I could join? I think that working on a modern app would be a great way for me to continue my learning. I have been working with books, but I worry that the information might not be completely up to date.
I am excited to get involved with real world app programming. I hope to be helpful to any project that I join Thanks to everyone in advance!
Hi MastrFett,
It is great to see how exiciting a person could be when learning. I do not have a project but I recommend you to do one for your own.
When doing something that you are going to release you do the best of yourself and you learn much more. Facing real problems is very exciting. There are lot of things that a book wouldn't explain you; you will discover them when you know that not only you is going to use your app.
Try something and upload it on Google Play. Don't get bored reading questions/answers on StackOverflow -it will be your best friend -
Patedit,
Thanks. My only problem is I don't feel like I have many good ideas of my own right now. I think the few I have would require algorithms more advanced than my level of skill. I'll have to keep thinking.
I was just hoping to find something that would give me the chance to just jump in head first on a project right away. I do eventually want to do something on my own when I come up with the right idea.
You need a good idea if you want to become rich
If you want to learn, you don't need great ideas I know it could be frustrating at first... Imagine something you need or that will help you in your daily use of your smartphone.
For example, yesterday I made for me a widget in which I could see the next alarm time. With pressing on the widget, the Alarm Clock app is launched. That could sound 'easy' but it took me several hours. I did it because I wanted a nice widget to do so and a shortcut to the Alarm Clock app which I didn't have.
Good luck!
There is an app idea I had, but I found out there are a lot that already do what I want on google play. Should I still make the app for experience? I don't know if it is worth it if the app already exists.

Definitely.
There are already three apps like mine (see my signature)
But I still made it and posted it. Result : 110,000 downloads and #11 in the Top New Paid category last week

[Q] Alternative to Alarm Clock Xtreme?

Hey guys,
I've found myself in the position of needing an alarm app again. I decided to fall back to Alarm Clock Xtreme. It's been working great for the past 2-3 years, and I'm familiar with it.
However, I haven't had the need for it in the past 2 months, and it's clearly been updated.
They removed, or relocated, the restore from backup function!
I can't use my backup to seamlessly start using, by my experiences, one of the best alarm apps on the market?!
Imagine that slap in the face. I've emailed AVG support, in hopes they respond to my inquiry.
In the meantime, is there another alarm app that does the whole math problems to snooze/turn off like Alarm Clock Xtreme does?
Thank you all!
Try using Timely. It has the math problem and puzzles too. Love this app and highly recommend it.
I will keep that in mind, thanks.
I'm currently trying I Can't Wake Up!
I like it's ability to randomize the actions necessary to turn off the alarm. Definitely needed for someone who cannot wake up... me.
sorry to hear about that
Hey guys, Andi from the ACX team here. Two things:
1. Sorry to hear about your problem, I hope customer support got back to you in time. We are preparing a new update that should fix many of the reported bugs and add a pretty cool new feature.
2. On a different note, we want to hear from you and understand why you chose to download an alarm from the Playstore and not use the stock one. Doesn’t matter if you use our app or another alarm clock app. To make it worth your time, there’s an Amazon voucher for those who talk to us. More details here: bit.ly/1Ufi72A - Please help us make ACX better, we really want to hear what you have to say.
I may be forced to switch.
For some reason this app has used 750Mbytes of wifi and 776 Mbytes of mobile data since begining of May.
Has anyone else had that?, Mark
Yitz
