your posting this on a VIBRANT section, and your asking the people that own a VIBRANT which is better? their own phones, or another one?
...
I think you get me.
This subject has been bitten to death here previously.
Vibrant comes stock with Eclair
MT4G comes stock with Froyo
Vibrant sports 4" SAMOLED screen
MT4G sports 3.5" LCD screen
MT4G HSPA+ (T-Mo 4G) compatible device
Vibrant HSPA (3G up to 7.2 Mbs) compatible device
There are differences in CPU - MT4G 1GHz Qualcomm Second Gen Snapdragon (better JIT optimization on Froyo), Vibrant outfitted with Samsung's 1GHz Hummingbird CPU. The GPU in Vibrant is superior to MT4G's though.
Front-facing camera and LED flash are standard on MT4G, Vibrant has no flash, and FFC requires a hardware modification if such feature is desired.
So, I hope your wife makes her choice based on what is more important for her needs.
I have a Vibrant and a MT4G and at this time I do prefer the Vibrant. The MT4G is the second one they have sent me as this phone has major screen issues. It looks as if about 40%-50% of the units have washed out screens. I had one and they are absolutely terrible. The one I received yesterday has a good screen. The good screens appear to come mostly(but not all) from China with Sony as the Mfg. A good portion of the screens that are washed out or have dust seem to be predominantly from Taiwan(that is where my first one came from) The MT4G is a good all around phone but if you are looking to root it and flash roms to me it is somewhat of a shaky process. Few roms are available for it at the present time. Am I going to keep this last one that Tm sent me? Not sure. I do prefer the Vibrant as my daily driver and also my phone to play with. If your wife just wants a nice solid all around phone than if you can get one with the good screen than it would be a nice way to go. If she is going to want a great screen and lots of choices to root it and apply roms than I would recommend the Vibrant I had the Nexus S and took it back after a couple of days as I preferred the Vibrant to it as well. Good luck with whichever one you get.

absolutely right on the dot. its just all about user preference....but i do like the heavy feeling of the MT4g compared to the vibrant. The MT4g feels slippery and small in my hands tho.
You can also get upgrade pricing on the Nexus S at best buy.
However, I personally don't shop at best buy, worst retail chain in my opinion.
At this point, I wouldn't purchase either phone, wait a couple months, new phones with dual core should be out.

I will give you my opinions since I have owned both devices.
Vibrant
Pros:
*Bigger, better screen
*A lot easier to root
*Almost can't be bricked
*Better camera
Cons:
*I can't think of any right now..
myTouch 4G
Pros:
*Physical keys (IMO)
*Trackpad
*FFC (But you can mod the vibrant to have this, but not to many people have a phone with one)
*Flash camera
Cons:
*Camera looks like a 3mp camera
*Screen isn't near as good
If you want to know something more.. Just ask me
I paid $200 for the vibrant, and $480 for the myTouch 4g
That could of changed my opinion also I guess... But I returned the MT4G
would wait as well, currently using a vibrant which was cheap $160, unlocked it for local carrier. Tempted to drop internet services at home and us tmobile mytouch 4g as a hotspot for 4g services. Vibrant is nice, solid android phone, but something new is coming out shortly so just wait

Theres a reason theres a question for Question and Answer section, i do both, when i need help, i search and if i can't find my situation then i post a thread.

Your just a moron.
Just so i stay on topic,
The vibrant has everything that a my touch has except a few things, and they aren't too big of a deal, mostly the front camera, but you can mod your vibrant and add that too.
I suggest vibrant, but like i said, ive never owned a mytouch, i've seen it and don't like how it looks, but i say vibrant because i dont have mytouch
Well, I switched from my Vibrant to a MT4G just a couple of days ago and am very happy.
If she is someone who could care less about gpu performance and custom ROMS, then the MT4g is a better choice.
Personally, I'll certainly miss the better screen, but I won't miss much else. Everyone in this forum section knows the various issues with the Vibrant and the MT4G isn't without it's own. So it comes down to personal preference.
Stock vs Stock performance for everyday use, IMO, is no contest with the MT4G winning this battle. And of course, for me, the even more important thing is GPS performance. Not contest there either (this is MY experience ONLY, and MY OPINION).
Wwetcvggggggg

yes there is a Q&A section, but theres always a SEARCH button as well...utilize it.
and as far as the MT4g and Vibrant goes...its all about your situation and user preference. im happy to keep my vibrant esp when im due for an upgrade in May,but MT4g is capable of data speeds up to 14.2mbps with a stock front facing camera( vibrant FFC mod does not work for every FFC application). Plus the MT4g has LED flash which is an important feature to some people.
oh and BTW, tmobile is said to debut new details abt their 42mbps HSPA+ plans at this years CES
Sorry brian

Hello folks,
I'm a loyal VZW customer, please don't throw tomatoes, and I love my Fascinate even though it has a few warts. My friend is on Tmo and ready to chuck his old BB into the Tennessee River. After much reading it seems to come down to the Vibrant or the mytouch 4G. I know that the mytouch was giving folks some grief in rooting and so forth and the vibrant has been sorted out.
My question is can someone who has T-mo give me opinions on these phones? I know this is the Vib forum and expect answers accordingly but the Vib is basically the slightly older brother to my Fascinate and I know how much it rocks even with Sammy dragging their feet at times.
Thanks.
As much as I love my vibrant I would go with the mytouch.

Only thing on the Nexus S that's better than the Vibrant is the NAND chip and the OS.
Everything else is arguably worse, or the same at best.
Well, maybe the GPS will work right.
In any case, that phone is not "worth the wait."
you already have a fascinate, why not try other manufacturer like htc instead of samsung.

The NFC chip may be nice. The EXT4 filesystem is too. The FFC and BFC flash are probably important to some. The lack of an SD card is bad. I don't want a Nexus S, myself. The Vibrant is still my favorite.

Mytouch 4G IMO. Physically it just feels nicer, it has hsdpa+ (meh), has a front facing camera, and the GPS works right on it. The built in software is slightly less bad than the Vibrant's, and I'd actually be willing to bet that it will see an official CM build before the Vibrant does (despite being released so much later).
Tell him to suck it up till the dual-core phones come out in early 2011.
I absolutely love the Vibrant. So hard to brick, lots of development, Cyanogen is going to happen, great hardware, great screen.
The MT4G has advantages, but i think it is ugly as Duck (kind of me not to cuss, right).... I would hate to pick up that phone everyday... it is just not attractive, at all to me. the data speed would be nice though, if you are in a "4G" city.

The NAND chip in the Nexus S is much better than the Vibrants. There's a chance that even with RFS we would not be getting the types of lags we get if we had the better NAND chip.
Camera Flash, LED Notification are pretty basic features and Samsung not giving them to us was a faux pas - but they didn't really have any competition on our carrier when the phone was released (only the HD2, that was it), so there wasn't any real incentive for them to put them on there - all things considered.
FFC is nice but not necessary. Maybe in a year or so the market will get to a point where it's an expected feature.
Lack of SD card is bad but with 16GB storage I'd take a better NAND and a LED Notification and Flash over a card slot, personally...
Don't go for the MyTrash 4g. Come on. You should know better than that. Just get a Nexus S next week and you'll be fine. It has 2.3. Nice clean interface, no TouchWiz, SAMOLED screen, Front facing camera. It's a no brainer!
MyTrash 4G is ugly, has a washed out screen, ugliest UI I've ever seen on a phone, speaker sucks, battery life sucks, camera sucks. Garbage. Why would anyone on earth ever consdier that POS. So what if it has HSPA+! So what if it has a FFC and so what if has a so called "second generation" processor. Like it's that much faster. Please. Believe me, it isn't. The Nexus S probably wont have Samsungs stupid file system and since it will have 2.3, speed will be on par with the MyTrash if not just a little behind but only by a nose.

lol yeah. But I'm really disappointed at HTC. They make good ****. Why did they have to be patronizing and give T-Mo a Fisher Price/Tech looking ugly ass phone with a ugly user interface. Why couldn't they just make a phone with the HD7/Evo's body and just use regular Sense. That's all they had to do.
The nexus s runs VANILLA ANDROID which means it will get updates Way before the vibrant or MT4G. Id wait for the nexus s and try it out in person.

I have a Vibrant and a Nexus One and a MT4G. I am going to sell my Nexus One . I like the Vibrant best as I am using it to learn the how to;s and where for's of rooting and flashing etc. I am a nubie and I do not feel comfortable doing much to the Nexus One or the Mt4g. The Vibrant seems to be very difficult to do total damage to(at least thats what I have read on these threads) but I hope I do not find out just how difficult that is any time soon. IMO the Mt4g is the best all around phone. That is for phone basics and it does everything well ( however apparently no one thing great) and is just a solid performer, but it seems to not be user friendly to users who are not well versed in Adb or have a lot of experience in rooting and flashing and recovering etc. The Vibrant has Odin which I find to be very useful once you finally get it installed. That is just my opinion. I am going to keep the Vibrant for sure and probably the MT4g and am in the process of deciding whether or not to go for the Nexus S. (I probably will)
This phone isn't for me. It really is for a friend that really doesn't have any intention of doing any major "customization".

Just got my Wife a Mytouch 4G and after playing with it I am torn. Vibrant is great, but the random lags drive me nutz. Yes I have played with custom roms and they do seem to help but always come across weird glitches and end up back on stock as at least it is 100% stable for me. MT4G just seems over all snappier, and while screen isn't as vibrant, never had issues with blurry text in web browser. Also forgot how nice it was having HTC phones turn over to silence incoming calls and other little stuff like that. Vibrant is much lighter though, MT4G is heavier than it looks!
If I had to do it over, would probably get the MT4G.
Nexus S is a let down for me. Memory card slot would be nice, but no HSDPA+? WTF?
So I just bought a Vibrant last week.
Then Samsung/Tmobile releases news that a vibrant 4g is in the works.
Now I'm on the fence on whether to sell my Vibrant and pick up a Nexus S.
I love the vibrant, especially in rooted and custom rom form, but I'm not a coder and terrible at understanding how this works so making a custom rom for myself is kinda out right now.
But like most people on this forum, I'm not happy with the fact that Samsung has kinda abandoned the customers that originally bought the first iteration of the Galaxy S from tmobile.
I've noticed that support for the phone from developers on xda has taken a subtle downturn.
I really really appreciate the efforts of tw and other dedicated developers, but without source code for vibrant for 2.2/2.3 and other android versions, how long can developers keep this up for?
I didn't want the nexus s as I see it as another galaxy s phone (fragmentation anyone?), but with its vanilla android versions and constant support from Google, I see it having longevity over the Vibrant.
I figured if Samsung were to release official froyo for the vibrant soon then nothing to worry about, but with the impending release of the vibrant 4g.......well hopefully you understand what I'm getting at.
Am I completely off the mark on this one? Is there something I'm not understanding? What are your guys/girls opinion?
Dude, there is Android 2.3.1 from Nexus S ported to my old HTC HD2 and it's working fine and bug-less. Meanwhile you are waiting for 2.2, who is a *****?
woah woah, exploit.. calm down
Any ways, back to your dilemma, i think sticking with the vibrant is what u shood do personally, but if you have the money to afford a nexus s i say go for it.. rite now i dont have to worry about the vibrant 4g or nexus competing with my vibrant cuz there all basically the same, it kinda jus matters where your at. If you have 4g coverage go get a 4g phone, if not stick with the vibrant and install a FFC and you basically have a Vibrant 4G or Nexus S
If you just bought it last week, take it back. You can get the Nexus S now with that upgrade or wait for the Vibrant Plus.
If you keep it, you will be kicking yourself in a few months when you can't take it back anymore.
It still depends on where he lives, the Vibrant is a true competitor phone and with sum serious development it cood be one of the best. The only thing it lacks is the 4g that the Nexus S and Vibrant plus have which if he doesnt even have 4g coverage it wont matter if he has 4g

Thats where the dilemma lies, serious development.
Is it going to persist for at least the next 6 months to a year?
Even the nexus one has strong support from 3rd party developers, I would hate to see the vibrant disappear into yesterdays technology so quickly because of a lack of developer support.
btw, I've tried understanding some of this geekspeak, but my knowledge on this stuff is too rudimentary for me to make my own rom.
Technology I love you, but why are you doing this too me?
I won't be getting 4g coverage anytime soon, but its developer support that makes the horns of dilemma rear its sharp points towards me
yeah thats what im hoping for too is long term development, but think about the Behold 2.. it was only sposed to get 1.6 and out of no where got 2.2.1
And to make sure that development doesnt stop with the vibrant im going to be trying to learn all the stuff that it takes to build roms and do all that fun stuff..
Dont worry i wont let you down
You get 14 days to return it no questions asked! No need to sell it!
If you're having second thoughts just return it and wait for the new one!
Personally I would wait for the new phones with dual processor like the LG or something like that!
The Vibrant is so 2010! Lol!
I love my Vibrant, but I know something bigger and better is around the corner!
Just my 2ยข!
Rockin that Nero 4.1 w/Voodoo + s.b.g.2.3
Take it back while you can. The Vibrant is a GREAT phone and still is very capable but since you just started your contract you should return it because it appears that Samsung is kicking Vibrant to the curb in favor of the Plus. The Plus is starting out with Froyo while the Vibrant is still stuck on Eclair. I dont know what the Devs will do but it wouldnt surprise me if they abandon the Vibrant.
yeah but then even after that sumthin big and better comes around another sumthing big and better comes around... so no matter what you do ur gonna be S.O.L.
they wont abandon the vibrant.. i wont at least.
seriously the Behold 2 2.2.1 rom is absolutely mind blowing since samsung dropped it with only android 1.6
it jus shows that anything is possible with todays technology

Yeah, this is exactly what I'm trying to avoid doing. I'm Canadian, tmobile doesn't operate up here, but we have an AWS provider that offers unlimited plans. So its a buy and sell situation here. I won't have any problems selling this phone but it can be a hassle.

Dglowen I hear you brother (or sister). I want to be optimistic about this phone and I think it'll continue having support, but I have a feeling it'll be fringe support rather then mainstream.

Haha, "starting out" with Froyo? Based on Samsung's history, good chance 2.2 will be the last official release for it.
If he gets the plus, won't the plus be the ugly stepsister in a few months when Samsung wants to push their next phone.
Take the Vibrant back and wait.
If I was in your sitch I would use the return window. If you have a handset that you can use for the time being wait for the dual core that should be coming.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
Yeah idk.. i think that keeping a vibrant wood be worth it but its always kool to have the latest fone out too.. even tho i been sayin keep the vibrant, it wood make more sense to get the newer fone
Whatever I decide, I just hope that the support for this phone continues and doesn't disappear quietly into the night. It definitely deserves official and mainstream support imo.
I found some chick on Craigslist who got an HD7 a week ago and wants to trade it straight across for a Vibrant, presumably because she does not like WP7.
What would you guys do? I was thinking of doing it for 2 reasons:
1) I will get to try out WP7 in a real world scenario and get my own opinion on it.
2) I know the HD7 is worth WAY more than Vibrant right now, so if I did not like it I know I could resell it on CL and get a different Vibrant or anything else really, perhaps even walk out of the deal ahead a few bucks. I don't see this as taking advantage of someone, they have the means to see the values of certain phones and still want to do this straight up.
What say y'all?
PS- I think I am spoiled by my rooted and ROM'd Vibrant, I believe that if it were stock I would probably not even need to pose the question to you guys, as I would jump on HD7 in a heartbeat. I am just glad the Vibrant was not my first Android phone, or it would have soured me to Android unecessarily.
I was thinking about getting one as second handset. It's a nice looking phone, I hear it's a very smooth experience. I personally think it would be limiting coming from an android OS. But I would consider it.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
Kind of what I had in mind exactly. If the hardware wasn't so sexy I might not think twice about it. I wish I could see into the future to see how WP7 will grow.
I do know that WP7 does not offer Rhapsody and I am a total Rhapsody junkie, so I would be pretty bummed. I know they have Zune, but from what I hear it's not as expansive a library and it would cost me money, whereas with Rhap I have a way to get it for free.
HD7 for vibrant
I traded my Hd7 for a vibrant. HD7 is a great phone, and the wp7 is a great new operating system. But I got bored within 2 weeks. The apps right now are mostly pure junk. Simple junky ones are charging 1.99+ on the marketplace. That will hopefully change in the future. But as of right now i was bored out of my mind with it so I went back to my nexus one, then i traded the hd7 for the vibrant.
Good to know, thanks for the input.

lol probably because most people know an HD7 is worth way more than a Vibrant. It's gonna be REALLY hard for you once the Galaxy S 4G drops.
Dont look at the phone, look at the services. Android Market is way better than Win 7. Also Open source vs Closed source.
I had an hd7 for about 8days or so, and I traded for a Vibrant, as someone said up there, It got boring, I like to oc, and play with my settings, and make the phone me, while Multitasking in the background while hd7 can't really do much YET (who knows)

Yeah that's my biggest concern too. I have no doubt that WP7 is a sexy UI, but I LOVE the ability to multitask and all the customization options that Android offers. I am a little concerned about getting bored of stock WP7 too.

Well I did it. Last night I traded my Vibrant for the HD7. I immediately was not a fan of how simplistic the OS is. I mean the phone itself is beautiful, and the software is smooth as butter, but it will take some getting used to. I figure I'll give it until the SGS 4G drops. That will devalue the current Vibrant I think, and at that point I can decide if I want to sell this thing and go back or I'll know if WP7 will grow on me.

Two reasons I'm hesitant to use another OS. ability to dl torrents directly to phone, and fast, ability to dl free music at will. Also the apps are ones that aren't available that I use daily. But I'd love to hear more of your continued experience with this phone. I'm still considering one, though I think a dual core 4.3 handset is around the corner from what I hear.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
Let me start by saying I own a Nexus s on voodoo clocked at 1.4ghz 2780 Quadrant and a streak on djstreak rom im a power user and a Evo 4g mikfroyo rom Toastmod. Now I paid 550$ outright for this beast 2 days ago just to give it a spin but I read its bootloader might be locked and let's face it guys this beast needs a rom period no? Asked. Now my question is will we at some point see a rom or cracked bootloader or is this beast a fail? And if so should I just pick up a ip4 just for its Nice games or should I wait for the roms if you think this will get them because the Droid x did and it has the same lock on the bootloader right?

For everyone on this forums sake, I hope that you get rid of it. I don't think anyone here wants to deal with your constant whiny posting and trolling. This post is literally useless, and you either have no free-thought for yourself, or you're trolling just like you've been doing for the last week. I hope you get rid of the phone, and in doing so some Libyan national comes out of ****ing nowhere and cuts your arms off so we don't have to deal with your posting anymore.
I think you should wait for the iPhone 27. Definitely.
We all get it your a goddamn power user, developer, gamer. You put those words in ever single freaking post.
I echo everything else that has been said with exception of the OP..

Returned mine and picked up an Inspire 4g. So much better. The only 2 things the Atrix has on it are speaker volume and battery life.
The Inspire is faster (overclocked to 1.2-1.5ghz depending on your battery/risk factor). Everything runs so much smoother. Screen is bright and colorful, power button isn't in the worst spot ever. Screen is bigger but with a more popular (supported) resolution. Rooted and fully rom customizable. Camera doesn't completely suck. Sense > Motoblur all day long, and this is my first time with either (My first ever Android phone was the Atrix, now the inspire).
I could keep going on, but if you can deal with the battery life and lower volume speaker, return your Atrix and get an Inspire, you won't be disappointed. I came from an iPhone 4 and was heavily considering returning the Atrix and going back to the iPhone but a friend of mine returned his Atrix and got the Inspire and was very happy so I gave it a try, so much better.
Omg you got an atrix ahahhah
Definitely wait for the next iphone. Because if not, you won't be happy.
I couldn't deal with the **** ass battery life of the Inspire.
1) Why do you need people to tell you what to do? Can't you decide for yourself?
2) Why are you basing your decisions on meaningless benchmarks that don't translate into real world performance?
3) The Atrix is still a baby, roms overclocking and all that **** will come eventually.
4) the Atrix is faster than an overclocked inspire 4G which is just a gimped Evo. Only an idiot would buy that phone in 2011.

I agree, why would you buy a POS inspire 4g when it's just a repackaged EVO??
I came back to AT&T with an Atrix after using my Nexus on T-mobile since it's launch date. My reasons for the switch back to AT&T where i originally was:
90% T-Mobile's horrible signal quality in buildings (AKA work) and the Nexus's mediocre battery life. I tried all the roms, kernels, stock, etc etc... it still wasnt what i expected for a "pure" experience.
Short story shorter, I don't miss my Nexus S one bit.
Wait for the atrix 13.
TS, throw away all your cell phones, AND your computer.
read a book.

Hello everyone I need some help deciding if I should get the Photon 4G or the Epic Touch? I really want the Photon but I'm a little worried about the pentile display, the lag and random reboots I've been hearing about. I'm worried about the Epic Touch because of the weak reception, plasticky hardware, and I also don't know if the 4.5 in screen is just too big? What do you all think?

My Photon works great! No real lag and never randon reboots.
However, I am thinking of getting another phone because the Photon does not have nearly as much develpment as some phones do.
And I am eager to try ice cream sandwich (which is already available on the Nexus S, Epic Touch, etc.)
The pentile screen bothers me only rarely. I think the better your eye sight is, the worse it looks. For me, it only looks pixellated when my glasses are on ;-)
Good point the development for the photon does seem lacking

Random reboots are a gingerbread thing. Just about every GB phone has that problem, some more than others. I've had 1 in the month and a half I've had my photon. Epic Touch is great from a computing standpoint, that's where it really wins. However, the support from Samsung is very lacking. They have quite a few issues, especially loss of signal, where they have to be rebooted to get signal back. Photon works better as a phone, and still very good as a computer. Touch great as a computer, not so great as a phone. Development may lack here, but it's not as necessary yet (until software and programming start to overload the hardware, about a year).
The display difference is very noticeable, as I came from an Epic. After a couple weeks, however, I didn't really notice anymore and it definitely doesn't bother or annoy me.

I have had a stock ROM rooted Motorola Photon 4G since it's launch as well as the POTAUs and haven't had any issues with mine regarding response lag or device reboots and the PenTile matrix display doesn't phase me any. If you need an Android OS based device and travel internationally, I'd go with the Motorola Photon 4G. If you want an ultra thin Android OS based design with a screen size just under a 2" difference short of the Galaxy Tab, go with the Samsung Epich Touch 4G.
my photon reboots atleast twice a day.I'd go for the epic touch if I could do it again.

Photon... Some people on here don't look good enough in the development section.. OC kernels a very stable Cm7 with everything working.. And that even have a oc 1.4 kernel to it... You can push out 40 different roms with maybe 1 or 2 tweak differences.. Lot of the devs been working quietly.. And there's something cold .... Hmmm .. Lol.. But honestly the photon is a great device best in my book for sprint radio and build wise.. The ET is ok just don't trust Samsung anymore.. The reboots not happening with me unless they do when I'm sleep. Just get a photon my word you won't regret it..

Are you sure the photon is worth it?

I came from epic touch to photon. Personally i have had a lot of issues with samsung phones. The major one (hopefully fixed by now) was the loss of service issue. Thats why i got the photon and i dont regret it at all.

The photon is a much better device, better build quality, better wireless radio. The original Epic 4G just got officially updated to Gingerbread a couple weeks ago so that lets you know how bad samsung is when it comes to supporting there phones. If you've ever owned a samsung phone you know about the cheap plastic feel they all have. Question is would you rather have a bigger screen or a better phone?
I actually bought a near mint used photon off eBay as I got tired of waiting on Samsung to push put GB for my Epic as my family's cheaper phones were getting GB. I have not had a single of the issues that have been reported. Crosses fingers. Never had a random reboot. The battery life is amazing! As soon as an ICS port comes out, I'll likely root it. I have looked at the ET4G, but would be hard pressed to leave my photon for it. Just my opinion. You'll find pros and cons for both. The photon runs every app that I needed from the market flawlessly. It is an excellent phone.
I love my photon haven't had a problem since i got it(week after it came out). We just need more devs.

to do what ??
port CM7 ? (almost done and almost official.. then I suspect work on MIUI may follow)
build kernels for overclocking ? (done.. we're stable to 1.4)
for themes ? (got plenty of that going on)
or here's a harsh statement. join the dev crowd. Then we'll have another one.
A device's quality is not measured by the development community behind it. A device's quality is measured by how well it works and the support it receives from it's manufacturer.
Most of the development communities for some of the other devices are re themed copies of 1 or 2 different ROMs and a tweak or 2 here or there.. most of the 'devs' in the other device communities are "cut/paste' devs.. they copy and paste different parts of several ROMs together, package it and call it their own.
What we have here in MoPhoLand are several VERY talented devs that collaborate and really BUILD their software enhancements/improvements. Sure they ask for help along the way when they run into an obstacle but who doesn't ?? Personally I got sick of flashing ROM after ROM after ROM on my Epic just to get this feature working properly, or get away from that bug etc.. IMO the selection of enhancements that are available for the Photon are very good quality. CM7 is very usable, we also have a couple overclock kernels. what more do you need ?? The device is great just rooted stock.. anything else is just taking something really good and making it great.

Well i guess you are right that a lot of other "devs" are copy and paste, and that i should also learn how to do what i want seeing it's well what i want.I guess the only thing i'm really waiting for is unlocked bootloader w/ 4g Seeing i live in a 4g area and it is really nice to have. So i should have been more careful on choosing my words instead of just saying "we just need more devs". Also learning how to create stuff for phones sounds like fun, seeing i love to learn stuff like this and I've learned basics of java and looked into c++ just because it was interesting to me, It's just since my son was born, working full time and spending time with my wife kind of eats all my time, I can almost never work on my car or even clean it cuz i'm so busy now a days. So to wrap things all up, yes we do have a great devs and i should learn to help myself instead of asking for people to do it for me. But if someone was doing it for me i'm willing to wait.

No lags for me.
Reboots once a week - but my HTC phones did that too. It's an Android SW issue, not a HW issue.
I love the Pentile display, but some hate it. See it for yourself.
Sammy is cheap and plastic to me.
I tried the 2 phones side by side in a store - Moto much better on data speeds.
4.5 is not an issue to me - really doesn't seem big.
You didn't mention the showstopper for me - the lower resolution for the Sammy. That alone kept me from buying.
For those of you experiencing random reboots, does it ever happen to you when you are talking on the phone? This is a big problem for me.
Deff go with the Photon. I bought it used off Ebay and have had no issues. I came from an Epic 4g and ill never go back to Sammy again. They dont support their device and when an updates thats been promised for months finally comes out it breaks the GPS. I have a friend with the Epic Touch and he hates it. Its a good phone but there is a severe loss of service issue that Sprint and Samsung have no idea when it will be fixed. On my old epic I had 1 bar of service in my house now I have 4 bars. I love this phone. Best part about it in my opinion is the fact that Google bought Motorola so we should be seeing an update to ICE relatively soon.
just say no to crapsung!

One of the main downfalls i can see for the photon if you use 4g and your lazy (like me) and don't wona do the long way to get ROMs on
