Hey guys,
I really need your advice/help...
Ever since I installed the app2sd about a month ago
(following this guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833722)
My free internal memory still keeps on dropping down slowly...
There are even days with no new installation, no web browsing, just sms and calls done - and still a 1Mb or so "disappears"...
Un-installing apps has almost no effect...
I have also tried to delete sms threads and incoming / out calls from the logs.
But nothing seems to help...
What can be done ?
I don't want to do the proccess again at the moment, because of not being able to root after SEUS...
(I even bought a 16GB SD card and it waits patiently at the moment )
Please advice / explain the reason...
Thanks !
I can't tell you exactly why you're losing storage space like that but I'd suggest you get DiskStorage from Market and watch exactly what is eating up your memory.
Did you installed JiT?

In your notification bar, are you getting a warning that your internal storage is low? If so, free some space as the phone stop receiving sms when your internal memory drop below 10 mb

Handcent was also unable to solve it. What is reflashing?how it can be done?it is risky?

You can find "how to flash" guide here:
X10 Flash Tool
Is it risky? well not quite.. it saved me of countless bricks.. Read carefully and you will be ok.
by the looks of your problem your default "Conversation.apk" isnt working, maybe it is damaged, maybe you deleted it, dunno, but that specific problem is related to Conversation.apk (i removed cause i wanted to replace it with HandcentSMS.apk, and i was unable to receive messages) simple reinstall Conversation.apk should do the trick, but, first you need to root your phone:
Guide how to root your phone:
For 2.0.2.A.0.24: here
For 2.0.A.0.504 here
All that u need to know is here: Summary for X10 Mini & Pro
Couple days ago i buyed x10 mini, i was complete noob for...pretty much everything related to phone... i spend some time reading a bit forums and i got all info that i need.
Dont worry, x10mini is a small phone, but it dies hard.. trust me, im messing around with firmware and rooting, deleting SE stocked apps, so i Flash and root my phone 2-3 times per day. Its easy lad, just dont despair.

20mb is not enought. Try release more memory. I had same problem. This was the reason why I rootet my X10mini pro lately - to delete all that crap applications from SE to release memory for apps I like to use without worry about space.

Anyone,
I've run into an oddity that I'm hoping someone could help explain. First, I'm running Cyanogen Mod 6 (update-cm-6.1.2-0.11-Milestone-signed.zip) on my HTC Aria. I've been running CM6 since last December.
A couple of weeks ago, my gmail account quit syncing and I stopped receiving text messages. Over the course of the last 2 weeks, I've gotten it working on and off. What finally got it working was to address the other informational message I was getting (running out of memory on my phone).
I was down to < 10% of the phone's main memory remaining. I found out that if I rebooted and cleared the cache, it would work again until the cache grew and brought available storage on the phone (I have an 8G SD card in it) to under 10% left.
Any app that I can move to the SD card has been moved to the SD card but it appears those apps still have some amount of data that they store on the phone? This AM, I finally removed some apps completely that were nice but not necessary for me to have on the phone and I haven't had a problem.
So, does anyone know if this is a known issue? Or, just a coincidence that text messages and emails stop when running low on memory.
Thanks.

First off, Why are you using the milestone Cyanogenmod6?
use this : http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/update-cm-6.1.1-Liberty.zip
Clear dialer storage.SMS mms dialer all use the same storage.clear that up and you're good.

Thanks for the info.
I was actually on that one (still have that zip on my sd card) but, when it started to not receive txt messages nor gmail, I went looking for something newer than what I had installed to see if there was a different version of Cyanogen that would work better. I tried CM7, a liberated Froyo, and the official Android 2.2 from AT&T (so I had to search through the forums to find out how to re-root my phone). I think I just ended up on the Milestone build (and since it was a CM6 like I had been using since Dec, I just quit trying new versions).
I just put the 6.1.1-Liberty back on. It had 24MB of internal stoarge left (out of 185MB). I moved a 15MB app from my SD card to my phone to get the available memory down below 10%, giving me the message about being low on memory. I sent a txt msg to my wife and she responded but, the response has not come through after waiting 5 min (while mine got to her phone in a few seconds).
Could there be an undocumented feature to prevent emails and txt messages when there's not much free space on the device? I cannot move Messaging nor Gmail to my storage card so I can see why someone might put a limit on that to avoid filling up the phone storage. Does anyone know if this feature is customizable so I can make it go to 5% before ignoring email and text messages?
I'll make sure to stay on top of those warning messages and make sure my next phone has more internal memory.

Yes, I have heard of not being able to receive text messages when you are too low on internal storage. I don't know why it happens, but in general Android does not handle low memory situations very well and things just stop working properly.
Unfortuntely the Aria has very little internal storage, so it's difficult to avoid this problem. The best thing you can do is to start taking advantage of one of the various apps2sd methods (not the built-in Android one). There are basically two of particular interest:
Darktremor - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790786
This method should work with CM6, but is more complicated to set up. Once you have it set up, though, you don't have to change anything and can just let it work its magic.
Simple2Ext (S2E) - https://market.android.com/details?id=ru.krikun.s2e
This method only works on CM7, but is very easy to set up.
You mentioned that you already tried CM7. Did you try CM 7.1.0 RC1? I've been really happy with this build for the past month and would recommend it. Of course the added benefit is being able to use S2E.
I've had this issue before. If you're receiving the 'low storage' message, you'll stop receiving emails, texts, and even app updates begin to fail.
Just gotta clear up some space.
Yup, had the same but in my case the GTalk wouldn't start up. Def having low internal memory kills the phone without a good reason, specially because it's a percent rather than a hard number...
Do use a App2SD app that enables you to move the dalvik cache to the SD and you'll see a lot of space cleared. I recommend darktremor + the GUI (available the latter in the market)

The following thread has some good info.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770146 ... more specifically ... this page that is linked from that thread.
One thing that I've done that I haven't seen mentioned is replacing the google apps (Gmail, Googlevoice, Maps, Market, Street...) in system/apps with the updated versions. Keeps the updates from stealing internal storage. As a heads up, the market app is the "Vending.apk" for those that did not know. I actually replace the apps in the rom I'm using (Liberated2.2.2) and reinstall that. Not including google apps I have 51 apps installed, 13 on the phone, 38 on the card and right now I have close to 116 MB internal storage available. I have a feeling that the 51 apps that I think is a lot is a drop in the bucket for some.
Hi,
I have a problem on my xperia mini pro: I was playing around with different versions of an app (CSipSimple) when suddenly the internal storage went completely full. I had about 180M free, and it went down to a couple of KB. I've uninstalled CSipSimple now, but it's still only 7M free.
How do I find out where the storage is gone? Installed Applications doesn't show any unusual app sizes, everything seems to be normal for the system, but I can't recover that space?
TIA,
Stefan
maybe the apps is creating a large number of cache files.. try app2sd. it will notify you about cache on your phone.
I have completely oposite "problem". Up until yesterday, I had around 70-80mb free space on my Mini, st15i. Suddenly, I have 250mb free space. I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering what happened.

dont worry if apps are working fine than there is no prob. the excess memory can be due to the cache that got cleared on rebooting ur phone.
I'm not worried at all, I just find it strange. I havent restarted phone for almost a month, so it's not because of that. I restarted it after I noticed that, I wanted to see if it's some bug or something, but it still shows me around 250mb.
Sorry for not replying earlier, but I eventually fixed the problem. I decided to root after all and through Root Explorer I found several "tombstone" files, these are basically crash dumps. Deleted them and everything is fine again.
Stefan
hey, i've got a prob....i have a rooted st15i....i downloaded root uninstaller and uninstalled some of the pre-installed apps from my phone...but the memory didnt show any raise.,..it remained the same when there should have been atleast 15 MB raise...please help...
also kindly inform me of the apps that i can safely remove...
thanx...
Hi everyone, I have one question regarding my Xperia Mini Pro sk17i.
1 month back i could have easily moved large amount of my newly installed apps to SD card without any problem. But recently whatever I install, I just cannot move it on SD anymore. I understand there are many apps that cannot be moven, but whatever i tried to install (randomly) from Google store just stays on my phone and option to move it to SD is blank (unavailable). Now, I'm wondering is this something that happens frequently, or have I maybe done something that somehow blocked that function?
I'll note this app (which previously when i had no problem moving apps from phone to SD or other way around wasn't installed):
Disk Defragmenter
another note: I never rooted or flashed my phone in any way, just regular updates. I'm currently on 4.0.4 version ( installed it 5 minutes ago, but still problem with moving to SD).
I have never face a problem like u'r..i'm using 4.0.4 too..
format u'r sd card and try
thanks for reply.
Well, i considered doing that, but i have so much settings on my phone that would take ages to redo once i reinstall all the apps...
Hey bro try link2sd then
Try formatting sd card and reset factory settings. Or you can root and move any app to sd..
Sent from my WT19i using xda app-developers app
use Link2SD is much better
Thanks for your time guys, I've formated and it looks like it's working now. I'll just have to spend some time to readjust settings like they were before. Thank you again. Lock if needed.
Glad to hear it. Good luck

Hi,
I have a weird problem with my S2 running samsung stock ICS 4.0.3. i have been using sgs2 for over a year now and whenever my free internal storage goes below 250MB i move the apps to SD card. But now No. of apps in SDcard has hit the Android limit so i simply delete the Apps. But off late that is not freeing up my internal memory. Soon after deleting apps it shows internal memory freed but by next day or it again fills up. This is when i check my storage at Settings-> storage (shows ~220MB). when i check my with settings -Applications it stays free and now its showing 600MB free. This was not the case earlier. Both the values above remained more or less same. So i have deleted ~300MB worth of applications without freeing up my storage
I have been searching vigorously but found no solutions. I have read about Wifi logs issue but it should have started soon after ICS upgrade. In fact till very recently it was fine coz i had to delete lot of Appa due to Android SD card bug. my free space went upto ~400Mb. Not now suddenly. In fact i changed nothing in my sgs2 to cause this. I noticed this issue when i installed and then uninstalled SYBIL. Would deleting Dalvik cache help? if yes then how to do it?
What else should i do? Is there a way to resolve this of find a workaround without Rooting. I love to root my phone and enjoy the freedom it offers but i have absolutely no time to do that.
Please help
Helppp... something .... anything ... am i the only unfortunate one with this issue??
or if you know a an expert in XDA who i can PM .. please forward me his handle.
solved

finally found a solution in a thread in xda "A simple way to free up storage space is by deleting all the log files in the device memory. Just dial *#9900# on your phone and select option 2 “Delete dumpstate/logcat” in the prompted menu. It's not necessary to root your phone either. I restored 1.4 gig of space after doing this."
