I love cyanogenmod its so greaT! i just hate the new contact list. is it possibel to use the original contact list without using theres? but keep everything else the same? If so how can i restore the old contact system?
no you are stuck with it! I hate it too! the HTC one is very sexy!
You (and everyone else who want's features/apps) should probably make it clear that by "stock" you mean "espresso." I thought that you want "stock" as in "AOSP" at first, which is not much different then what CM is.
Everyone should know that no "sense" or "espresso" apps most likely will work on aosp roms due to them using custom framework and/or libs. If we were to try modifiying aosp rom to use htc apps, we would end up with pretty much sense rom, which defeats the point of flashing aosp rom.
On the other hand, there are many apps in the market that copy sense, try them out, you may like what you see.
reason he went with cm rom is speed!!! but would like the htc look aswell thats why!
Specify
Yes I should have specified Espresso not stock my appologies but, how come rom's like ice glacier uses that contact list but, cyanogen can not? I love cyanogen mod the best but i ahte contact list so now i switch to Ice Glacier. If you have any suggestions of other stable respected Rom I would enjoy you could reccomend i'd really appreciate it. Thx!

Iced Glacier is a modified variant of the "MySense" or "Espresso" depending on who you talk to. They take the native Espresso code and trim the fat off of it. But Cyanogen modifies the AOSP code to work on the various phone.
I do like the look of the phone book in the MySense ROM, but the T-Mobile syncing creates alot of headache for me, and the Cyanogen is blazing fast. I'll stick with Cyanogen for now. It's not worth the added bloat ware of MySense, or the Iced Glacier.

Everybody looks for different things and holds different features as priorities or essentials for themselves.
I think the best approach is to get yourself all setup to be able to flash/load different ROMs and be able to test them out. The first one you try might be your favorite, or the 5th. Really hard to say.
If you take some time and read through each ROM OP, you'll see what they emphasize for features and how often they update/make changes/improvements.
Also, once you are setup and familiar with the flashing ROM process, it should become quite simple to move between ROMs gaining valuable personal experience.
If you have any questions around the logistics, let us know! Hope that helps! Welcome to the world of a rooted Android!

These are two of the greatest different in ROMs, mainly due to their base. The sense ROMs are all based on HTC's stock sense ROM code and the AOSP ROMs are all based on Google's straight plain AOSP code.
Quick brief description .. to get a full range of ROMs, probably best to try at least one of each to see the difference. Most popular AOSP ROM is usually CM7. I'm not sure what the most popular custom Sense ROM .. dev board should show ..
Sense! i just love the widgets and all that fancy stuff from HTC

I like infected eternity roms. I just flashed the update which is 1.4.2. Great so far, but the last couple releases have been right on for me. Basicly themed stock but has a infected tweak section in settings for change a few things. Also spot hotspot is enabled. I run stock kernal and get greqt speed and battery. Quad scores for me can hit 3000 linpak 75ish. Has been my daily driver for awhile because i cant do with sense.

Viper rom once all the kinks are worked out
to all the devs first of all thank you for your hard work. i know it takes time and time to build a nice not buggy rom and kernel,
and i know its hard cause of the lack of the wifi drivers and not having s-off, and i appreciate on staying with the amaze and not given up.
i know there are not many devs and i know working together can do more.
i was wondering if are there any thoughts on working on others roms
i know x been working on ics,
is it possible to port MIUI rom with miui camera in it not like the sensation that have the stock gb camera or CM like rom with the theme chooser apk
i heard before that it is easy to port roms from another htc android device i dont know i am not a dev you tell me. maybe not cause of the lack of s-off
i know if your thinking if i didnt like sense get another, but i do love sense but do like others ui like stock or miui base
and look at this rom for ICS looks cool

If you want it to look cool like ICS
-get adw launcher ex, download the ICS theme
-download widget locket and pick the ICS unlocker, and set the background of the clock to invisible
-download exdialer or exContacts and get the ICS theme

no offence to the OP but such kind of posts are stupid. Do you think the devs havent thought about it before you? you admit it you know nothing about roms and kernels but still you put yourself in the position of suggesting devs what according to you looks better. as seansk said just install couple of apps and make it look like the ones in the link you showed+that miui style is boring stressing iphone like stuff. just buy yourself an iphone 4 and you will be fine

yes i know the devs prolly thought about this, this is just a reminder in fack this message was for devs there is no business here for you,
if i wanted an iphone i would had stayed with it,
and i just suggested that cause its nice having difference roms not just sense
and i know the time it takes to build one.

u mean the dev I suppose? cuz I do not see any devs here other then Xboarder
p.s there is business for me wherever I want mister gipsy from texas
I wouldn't say this is at all a stupid thread. It lets xboarder know that there are lots of people that are looking forward to something else. As for rom developement, its tough because x is really the only person here who knows how to work with source code. A couple others are learning but it just takes time. O and superstar just picked up an amaze so hopefully he will jump in and help! He has an ics build on the hd2!
I would totally love miui as well but know X is really the only main dev here.
Also love when people just ask simple questions and get fired at like they are a moron I bet other people that know a lot were once noobs too.
I guess that's the way xda is and has become its sad that people have to be afraid to post a question or a topic.
Yes I agree search first but damn we all aren't geniuses

I was wondering if anyone with more expertise in deving than myself work on the UCLC5 ICS leak to fix bugs/ useful add ons which don't take away from TW. ie, take away the bloatware, streamline app drawer and folders etc., but keep Samsung/TW stuff while also working to make more stable. BUT RETAIN IN AS CLOSE TO STOCK CONDITION AS POSSIBLE.
NOT AOSP- I had my HTC inspire on a pretty nice AOKP based ROM for some time and while I liked it alot, I'm in the mood for something new now w/ my note.
I'm assuming we'll need the source from Sammy before alot of this work can begin though. Is anyone planning on it when the time comes?
-thanks

I'm hoping DesignGears would be the one to do this. He was the one behind Cognition on the Captivate, which was a tweak on the stock rom. No ugly color tweaks or fonts or different layouts.
Anyways, he did bring us the ICS leak so I'm just hoping he will eventually come to the Note.

I believe he is raising funds to buy a Note by a certain date so he definitely has interest in it.
I will be messing with it as soon as the source drops. I am not deving wiz but I look forward to making a bad ass rom for our notes. I have a Gingerbread rom made that I use as my back up but I only want to release ICS baised roms seeing how this is were all roms will be heading

What is the best rom for the htc rezound? I want to have the latest version of android and sense for the htc rezound with everything working. I think the latest is android 4.0.4 and sense 4.0
What ROM are you using? If you are on S4, then you are using a custom ROM. Our "official" ICS only has Sense 3.6
BTW, wrong place to put this...not being a jerk about it like some will, but this should be in Q & A
Post one thread, one time, in the correct section please

Best ROM?
Well, if you insist on ICS, your choices are OK.
But, until the approved ICS rom appears, you may
get the best battery mileage with the latest GBread 2.01.605.11.
I have tried them ALL, and come back to a daily driver
of GB that's rooted and cleaned out with Titanium Backup.
It runs smooth, no FC's, and does everything I need without
any issues. Only the programs I use are installed or
loaded on startup. Once you get it the way you like, Nandroids will
allow you to jump around, try new stuff, then go back to what you like.
Venasaur 3.2 or cleanrom dev 1.4. Period.!

The best ROM is which ever ROM runs the best on your phone.
From my experience, the best way is to read the OP of the ROMs you are interested in, narrow it down to say 3-4 ROMs and try them out.
There is a good amount to choose from, GingerBread, ICS sense 3.5 to Sense 4.0
it looks like miui has even come too.
I will not go into anything DEV related, as I don't use ROMs based on the Dev, I use it based on how well it runs on my phone.
Nils' Business ICS 4.1 is my choice for Sense 3.6 out of everything I've tried. Great sound quality for Bluetooth audio. Everything works, no FCs, smooth, great theming. Love it!
its alll a matter of opinion my friend try them all

I agree try them all until you find the 1 that suits your needs
NAND is your friend
Ineffabilis Deus has been by go to rom as of late.
it all defend on your preference!
This is totally subjective, but the first step is to figure out if you like Sense or not. That will help narrow it down by 50%
Beyond that, just try a bunch that have healthy threads and update frequency, and you can't go wrong.
Newt's XXX RLS1 is the best ROM I've run to date. Sense 4 is sick, and I haven't found one thing that doesn't work yet (besides the stupid data arrows, but who REALLY needs those anyway?) It's just too bad you can't get support in the thread for it here anymore, but he's easy to find if you know where to look.....
Hi guys,
I've been browsing around the HTC One for quite a while and decided to get it as my phone. However, I have a question. One I root the HTC One, and install a custom ROM and kernel on it, will HTC Zoe, Blinkfeed, Boomsound, and Beats still work? I know most likely Beats will work, as it is a hardware thing, I think, but I'm mainly concerned about the others. Please reply ASAP so I can decide what to get.
Thanks in Advance,

it depends on the rom, AOSP roms aren't likely to have blinkfeed or Zoe and other HTC stuff. but stock modded roms may still have them.

Modded stock ROM's have all the goodies that stock has (obviously), but no other ROM's (which are currently all based on AOSP) have most of what you asked about.
Although you won't have to worry about Boomsound so much, since most of those AOSP ROM's have good sound. Beats itself is simply an EQ adjustment that you could do yourself. Camera isn't as good or as well-featured, and Blinkfeed will never see a port.
Unless you have a specific reason to do otherwise, just root your phone and install a nice Sense ROM.

Kinda have to pick your poison. Options are limited right now because of the way rom development has just started.
Asop- no sense but cleaner experience
Sense- cool features but still a skin.
Why not just install apex launcher on your one. Are phone is beast enough to run that smoothly?

most custom sense based roms have a de-sense option in aroma which will remove the sense look and feel. i think it will remove blinkfeed also but you will still have all the camera features.
btw this is the wrong section. should be posted in Q/A

Yes, it will remove Blinkfeed as that's part of the Sense launcher, which is the bulk of what's removed.
It's worth mentioning also that running a Sense ROM with the Nova Launcher is quite nice. While you lose Blinkfeed and such, you come out ahead with a snappy, full-featured launcher.
As for AOSP based ROM's... They do generally provide a clean experience. But as noted before, development is still in its early stages, so they're not as smooth as they could be, and battery life is maybe as good as stock ROM's right now (but usually a little worse for now).
Q&A?
