If like me, you have problems on O2 receiving a picture message because O2 decide to resize it to 100*100....so small that you can barely make out whats supposed to be in the picture, here is a simple fix! It does involve editing the registry though!
Browse your way to:
HKLM>Software>ArcSoft>ArcSoft MMS UA>Config>mm1>WspHeader
There are two strings we need to change and that is the "User Agent" & "x-wap-profile"
The standard data in these strings are as below incase you need to revert back!
User Agent - Toshiba-TG01-orange/ArcSoft/MMSUA/PPC/v5.5
x-wap-profile - http://gphone.toshiba.co.jp/tech/profiles/UAPROF/EUR1/TG01-2.0.xml
The correct settings which work are:
UserAgent= HTC_HD2_T8585
x-wap-profile= http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/HTC_HD2_T8585-1.0.xml
I believe the problem is with the Content Adaptation service provided by O2. After I changed my registry to fool it into thinking my TG01 is a HTC HD2 (which going by the .XML file the MMSC server is supposed to read, the maximum size should be 1600x1600), I sent myself a picture that was something like 1536*2048 and 284kb in physical size. By all means the Content Adaptation system should resize it to 1600 in either length or height but it didn't. It resized it 768*1024!! (Whereas before on my TG01 registry settings, it resized it to 100*75)
I have noticed a very interesting string in the online XML file for the HTC HD2
<mms:MmsMaxImageResolution>1600x1600mms:MmsMaxImageResolution>
Where as in the XML file for the TG01 its
<mms:MmsMaxImageResolution rdf:datatype="Dimension">1600x1200mms:MmsMaxImageResolution>
So I am going to make my OWN .XML file based on the HTC's and put that into my registry with picture resolution sizes of 1000000*1000000 See what happens, I bet their MMSC server will burn!
Registry
Sorry to sound like a noob, but how can I access the registry for the TG01. I assume that it's not freely accessible since it could cause major issues
Many thanks

EDIT: Used PHM registry editor. Was amazingly simple to do. Why can't O2 just change the settings and issue an update? Oh well. I'm sure someone will try and change it, screw it up, and spend hours on the phone to customer services

Hi, im curious to know what other HD2 users are using to sync their Task /To Do lists.
Anyone using Toodledo and Nuevasync? either of them or both?
thanks

sorry i wasnt clear.
i am referring to over the air syncing
HD2 Tasks
Hi,
Are there many users utilising their Task lists?
So far as I know that is possible with P. tasks you can buy it for 2.39 euro. There is a thread about on xda. I can sync with exchange I tought.
I wish Remember The Milk worked on WM that same as it does on Android. Unfortunately, all it does is sync/mix between Tasks and RTM online. PITA if you ask me. Android version was great. This is sh1t. Am having to use Tasks for everything now - business and personal - but the default app is not particularly good at displaying what order you want to get things done in.

Sorry guys where can I eevn fnd the Tasks list?
I dont need to synch it but it wouldbe good to have a local easily accessible list to add to and tick off when stuff is done
i struggled for weeks, cos theres a bug in where you can't set start and due dates, making tasks useless.
came across "manila tasks" on xda (where else) which makes tasks much more finger friendly, and it the built in task list so syncs when outlook syncs.
eeerrrmmm......so where is it then please?
hmm let me see if i can find it, , hang on (types manila tasks into google) oh there it is, hit number 1!

oh wait, did you mean where it is the default one on the phone? well on a stock rom its called tasks, and is in the start menu, but on a cooked rom the link could be in a sub folder, so you can get to it directly in windows/tasks.exe (it may be hidden, make sure you show all files)
I have the the stock rom.
I have no Tab called Tasks.
I then did a search in Windows and way down at the bottom there is Tasks.
It does not show up when I look at the programs visible by pressing the "windows" buttom.
I have in the interim created a quicklink to it but I would like to be able to see it when I press the windows button - any idea how I do this please?
I am guessing the same way as I managed to see the games but when I long press on it I just get the option to send via bluetooth or copy, not to create shortcut etc.
EVen when I copy it I dont then get to paste it anywhere

choose copy, then scroll right up to the top, go into the folder 'start menu' then click menu - edit - paste shortcut
you might find the tasks link in you start menu (windows key) in a subfolder, tools, maybe, or outlook perhaps. (Im on a non stock, so dont know where it was by default)
I remembered that eventually (paste shorcut then rename it).
Also good call about Outlook - it is indeed there as is "notes" which I also wanted (i created a link to Onenote in the interim).
I thought Outlook was the program not a folder so have never pressed it to date.
Thanks for the heads up
Hi all
I want to start numbering pictures from a high number (100001) to have all them alphabetically ordered (now 51 goes first than 432 for instance) but I can't
Any idea?
Thank you!
Hi
I am not sure I understand what you mean, but it sounds like you could use a "serial do-pictures-whatever" like XnView (more functions with the PC than with the PPC version, of course, but both allow apply transformations to various selected pictures at the same time)

Thank you for your reply. I mean: If you hard reset, and you take some pictures, they are numbered as:
PH_1, PH_2, PH_3...and so on.
Instead I'd like to number them as
PH_10000001, PH_10000002, PH_10000003......
Is it possible??
Well I did not check with so many zeros, only 10001, and it worked.
With XnView, even the PPC version, you can select your pictures (using keyboard Alt like on pc, after adjusting windows to see both keyboard and pictures), then, Util > renommer par lots > there you can chose name, extension, first number, and increment.
The PC version is more complex... and offers more serial changes (like effects), not only size, contrast, rotation...
Maybe you can google for an XnView pocket in your own language, or at least english.

Yes, bro, I have XnViev. But what do you say is to rename pictures AFTER take them.
I'm asking to number pictures WHEN you take the photo.(not re-number)

Then, it would be in registry? near where you go to change camera sound? (I think there was something about this in the forum) Could be found exploring camera registry looking for "PH"? Or is there nothing to be found there?
I would not dare advising anything come to that...

Yes you're right, Perhaps this is the way. I have not found the stirng "PH_"
Many thanks!
Assuming the PH in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Pictures\Camera\GeneralSettings\PhotoCounter\ : Prefix PH
is the one, maybe the zero there near stands for default first number?

You are the MAN! Thank you my friend, you have found the solution:
Changing the register Key Counter exactly where you said, from the present number to the desired one, it does exactly what I was looking for!!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Pictures\Camera\GeneralSettings\PhotoCounter\ Counter
I've changed the Counter to 100001
After that, I've taken some pictures:
PH_100001, PH_100002, PH_100003, PH_100004....and so on
Many Thanks!! I mark this Thread as SOLVED
(By the way, as you said, you can replace the original "PH_" for "Image ", "Picture_", etc.)
Or you can do what I do and use a program called "IMAGToDate" which scans your photo dir and renames the files according to the date stamp! Works very well for me.

Thank you for the information. Very interesting. But it would be perfect if this was a software working "in the shadow", I mean, when you are taking the photo, not in batch after that.
Anyway, as they say:
You’ll probably hate the way Camera application saves the image file, which was “IMAG####.jpg”. This kind of naming will cause a problem when backing up the image files in your PC/MAC specially when the file already exists in your backup drive but different picture, the only thing you could do is to rename the file in your mobile device. For example, you have “IMAG0050.jpg” in your mobile phone and you want to move that in your PC/MAC but a file “IMAG0050.jpg” already exists but has different picture? Probably the first thing you’ll do is to rename “IMAG0050.jpg” in your mobile device into something different.
This used to be my problem, but numbering as 1000001, is enought for me (I think that never will achieve a million pictures with my TG01)
Hi.
I was wondering how hard it would be to create a simple application that would connect to a server or website checking for updates. I plan on loading font .apk's on the server or website, and would like a application to periodically check for updates or manually check for updates, be able to preview the font, and then download the .apk if wanted. How hard would it be to create such an application?
Thanks.

Well, this depends on how you approach it, but I think the easiest way to do this would be to create a feed using XML. So if you were doing your font updater, you would load a file like this:
<FontDetails>
<Font name = "Font1" example = "http://www.myfontsite.com/FontExamples/Font1.png" location = ""http://www.myfontsite.com/Fonts/Font1.apk"\>
<Font name = "Font2" example = "http://www.myfontsite.com/FontExamples/Font2.png" location = "http://www.myfontsite.com/Fonts/Font2.apk"\>
</FontDetails>
The problem with this is that you will have to maintain this XML file, making sure its always up-to-date(Easily manageable with some simple scripts).
If you aren't willing to do this, you could go down the road that is wrongly mislabeled as "The Easy Way" and hard-code the locations of all your APK's and all of your example images, but I would only do this if you were planning on dumping all the APK's and images in the same place(For example, if all your APK's were here: http://www.myfontsite.com/Fonts/). You would request the directory information from the server and parse that into your list of font APK's and correspond them with their example images(probably by naming them the same; i.e. Font1.apk and Font1.png).
If you decide to use the first option, you could do a bunch of cool things with the organization, like break things into categories and apply taggings and it would only require one request to the server per update. If you go with the second method, organization is guaranteed to be a mess if you try anything large scale, and adds a layer of complexity if you try to break things into folders and categories. This would require a ping per folder you have to check, which can have a high complexity factor if you have a lot of folders.
I just want to point out that even though this is directly related to development, this is a type of question that belongs in the General section(Questions ALWAYS belong in General). I'm sure a Mod will come around, scold you, then move the thread.
Anyway, I do hope this helps,
Good luck,
Tyler
Edit: Having a bit of problems getting the XML looking correct. Sorry if it looks ugly :S
Even easier would be to manage the updater as an RSS feed. Then it becomes quite trivial, as there are several examples of RSS readers online already.
Great! Thanks for the reply!
Yeah, the XML approach I think would be the better option as well, just because we could use this thread to hold everything I currently do no have any hosting at this time. Would you be up to making such a application? It seems you have the know abouts to so.... I would be the one to maintain everything and update it. I would monitor this thread and when new ones pop up, I wouldn't mind adding it to in the XML.
Also, how would the RSS feed work?
Thanks

Wish I could...I've got about 50 projects already on the back-burner and no time to finish them Tell ya what though...I've finished a mini project a couple weeks ago with some buddies at school for my friends website. Its an Open-Source RSS reader that was made to read in the latest articles of his site. With some slight tweaking, I'm sure you(or some other dev) could mod it to work in your favor...Here's the github address:
http://github.com/pencilo/Absolute-Android-RSS.git
I don't think this is the latest code, but all the working elements you need are in here.
Hi everybody
first of all i want to say TNX to all the wonderful people here, who make my HD2 experience so much better
i have a good question which i bet other HD2 owners are struggling with:
i keep my mp3 files stored on my SD card.
Q: i can't seem to find a way to set a certain picture to a certain song in the music player (instead of the default picture of the note icon).
what i'v tried up until now:
- i went to My Device\MUSIC and saw the way the original (crappy) song is set with its own picture, and tried to set my mp3 file the same way with it's own picture, but - no luck, still the annoying note icon..
so.. i give up for now, hopefully someone knows the answer to my question here
thanks allot guys
I think I've got the solution:
Settings -> Manage Applications -> Media Storage and choose clear data, this will wipe the media library database from the phone.
you then have to power down and reboot. Now when you open the music app it will rebuild its database.

SORTED! tnx to Wilco!
Wilco you are the man
i didn't find a way to delete the media library database from the phone, the solution presented in the thread is meant to work with another HTC device which has different settings, BUT - the issue was the same -
in order to show a photo instead of the default note icon in the music player htc devices require an image called "folder.jpg" located in every folder which contains mp3's, this is the picture which will be shown as the album picture. so in order to show a different picture for every album the albums must be in different folders.
there is a certain BUG which occures when there is no folder.jpg file in the folder containing the mp3 file and you try to add it later, the device has a DB that records every folder you create and it doesn't remember a folder.jpg file in that particular folder so it will not show a picture even if you add one, i still havn't figured out way to clean that DB, anyway, by simply putting a folder.jpg with your choice of image and changing the folder's name to another one, the device will recognize this as a brand new folder and tada! album picture is presented
hope we helped you guys!
thanks!!
