Hi,
I just got a Samsung Vibrant and I'm having trouble selecting an mp3 as a default tone for the calendar reminder. Here is what I've been doing step by step:
calendar - create - then I set up all the details (location, etc) and click on "Alarm" to set the Alarm and then "Alarm Tone" to try to select the mp3 but I can only select from a a pre-selected sounds list. I have 2 questions:
- Can I select an mp3 as my alarm tone?
- Can I set an mp3 as a DEFAULT alarm tone so that I don't have to do the same thing for ALL my calendar events? (I have A LOT of them)
I have found an app that does exactly what I want, so I'm thinking this is not a native function on the android calendar called Calendar Event Reminder (cannot post link here). I find this weir though because this is a simply function that even lower end smartphones have.
cheers

Hi
I use my calendar a lot and have my G2 synced with my Google Calendar. Although (thanks partly to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542151) I have been able to customise the sounds for email and sms alerts and ring tones, I am actually trying to use an on board one for the calendar. I go to 'Calendar/Settings/Reminders/Reminder sounds' and have tried choosing 'color' and also previously a custom tone. Unfortunately, whilst I have a custom default alert sound (in general settings) and 'color' selected in the calendar as above, all my calendar alerts still go off with the T-Mobile default sound. The T-Mobile sound is extremely loud and jarring so as a heavy calendar user I am keen to fix it. Can anyone advise a fix?
i get the same - all other reminders are changed to other tones - just not the calendar. does anyone else on a T-mobile G2 have the same issue ?.
Regards
If you change the sound in calendars it defaults back to t-mobile.
To work round it, in calendar settings select individual calendars instead of all calendars and it lets you change the sounds as you want to.
I know its weird but it works
That's worked! Thanks Cydat! Bit of a poorly implemented interface feature though.
Does anyone know the reg hack or update to enable repeating alarm on tasks and appointments?
I use agenda one but the alarm only sounds once
I don't really want to install battery pack pro as I don't need all the other features.
Cheers
Kenny
This should work:
Use a registry editor, go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>ControlPanel>Sounds>Clock
Select 'Values'
Then select Menu>New Value>String
Value Name: Script
Value Data (for no vibrate): apr
or
Value Data (with vibrate): av0pr
If you want to add a delay between each ring add 'w(delay)' before the r(repeat), for example:
av0pw3r would have a vibrating alarm with a 3 second wait before looping the ringtone (both wav or midi)
If you want to revert back to the normal alarm ring then simply delete the 'Script' value.
Click to collapse
Hi Davi - is that reg edit definately for tasks?
I've added the entry but it's had no affect - a task with a reminder alarms once and then never again
Kenny
I Got this to work on the alarm but if I went to change the time it would reset the data value to p
I have a few personal tasks that i need to do at a specific time of the day and at time i am too busy and forget about it
I am looking for an app that will pop up reminder (and play sound) at a set time. Also need to be able to do repeat event so i dont have to program it everyday. So it sort of like the calender that come with android but since the calender on the galaxy does not allow me to customize the reminder ring tone. I cant hear a "beep" when i am in a busy environment.
Thanks for any suggestions.
I just use the alarm on the clock app
you can use the alarm clock on the phone
you can set the exact time.the ringtone it plays.
and you can set the days you want it to ring
Oh DUH!!! i'm thinking too hard. Thanks for your helps. It did exactly what i wanted.
Its a stupid question! But, how I can change the ringtone in MINICM9?
1. settings
2. sound
3. phone ringtone
Sorry! Double Post.
Ans how can I use my own MP3's?
download a ringtonepicker from the market, standard android doesn't let you choose own mp3's, but with a third-party ringtonepicker it will work.
go to music and long press song or mp3 and set as ringtone. depends on how you access those mp but usually does the trick
Create the folder
sdcard/ringtones for your call ring tones,
sdcard/notifications for your message notifications,
sdcard/alarms for the alarm tones.
Any mp3 you put in these folders will show up in the list for selecting the tones
Ok thanks!
Hello, I have some questions about the ringtones and alarms on ICS.
1. How could I set a mp3 for the alarm tone? I copy a mp3 file to the alarms folder but I can not set it.
2. I want to set a ringtone to a contact when calling, but not for notifications, is this possible?
Thanks and best regards.
1. In the alarm clock you can use the previously added music "on call". How? Read below.
2. Set, you can use any player, which is a function: "set as ringtone" or "use as a phone call."
I think alarm tone is in .ogg format ... !!
