You should give more details. Router model, encription, if your phone had the same behaviour on different wi-fi networks.

Hi Guys,
I am Steve's 1.9.0 and was facing problems connecting to internet using my laptop internet connection. The adhoc network was not displayed in the wifi networks list. I guess by default the stock wifi stack doesnt list adhoc networks.
I flashed the updated WPA supplicant available here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755254
Now the adhoc network is listed but when i try to connect it gets stuck on "Obtaining IP Address" and disconnects.
I have DHCP enabled on my laptop and know it is working fine as my HTC Hero is able to connect just fine.
Any ideas why this is not working for me? Is this working for anyone else?
Posting the wpa supplicant zip, just incase some one want to give it a shot and report back with their results.
Hello everyone,
I'm new android user! I'm delighted whit it on x10 mini pro. But I came across a few problems:
My first problem is with WiFi. I don't have wifi router, but I made my laptop to work as a virtual router for wifi, so other computers and mobile phones are free to join my network via WiFi.
However my X10mini is having hard time detecting my wifi network, and when it does it won't connect on it! It doesn't have that problem on real routers for wifi. (My second phone, Samsung jet, can connect to my wifi network without poblem). I have tried with "WiFi Finder" but the problem is same.
I should probably mention that bluetooth has the same problem. I can detect another phone but I can't make any transfer of data between the phones!
What should I do?
P.S. I bought the phone a few days ago and the android software version is 2.1
for the problem with bluethooth try to see in the option, there is one abuot visibility, check it
... sorry for english im italian XD

Hi androidx10
Your WiFi problem could depend on the wifi network, stock firmware cannot connect to "ad hoc" networks.
Try to install apps like "wifi buddy" from the market, it can help you to scan networks and identify ad-hoc links.
For the bluetooth usually there are no problems sending files but receiveng them.
Try to install from the market apps like "bluetooth file transfer" or "astro bluetooth" to exchange files with other devices.
Good luck and enjoy your X10
hello i just bought a sony ericsson xperia x10 mini pro (u20i firmware version: 2.1-update 1) last week and I can't use it because everytime I insert my sim and then surfing the internet it gives me extra charge even if I am connected to a wireless network. and when I check the remaining balance it's 0.00 data traffic is turned off. What should I do? I want to know what are the applications that gives me extra charge. Do I have to root my phone first to delete those applications? Please help me I dont know what to do.
Hi
I just got my SGS2 today and tested it with a friend. He had wireless and everything was working over there. When I came home, I couldn't connect to my wifi. I always get 'obtaining ip address'...
I've been searching whole night and I haven't been able to solve the problem.
I can connect to my wifi when I enable the dhcp server, but then I can't access the internet anymore.
Network setup:
Modem -> Switch -> Wireless Switch
I get my ip address directly from my provider (Telenet - Belgium). I've no router at home and it works with every device, except for the GS2S.
Someone experience with this? Is there another way then to buy a new router?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have just bought a SGS-II today and i cannot connect to my Home Wifi.
When i press connect , the following happen : Connecting -> Obtaining IP Address -> Remembered -> Disabled, Secured with WPA2 PSK.
This all happens in a second.
It detects the network but does not connect.
I have a Cisco Linksis WRT120N Router with WPA2 [AES] Security. I can access the internet form all my other Laptops , Mobile Phone , PC , but SII cannot.
It has 2.3.3 Stock ROM . I dont think there is any problem with my router as i can connect on all my other devices.
It is very annoying because without WiFi there is no fun in the SII.
Pl help me solve this serious problem as the SII is a wonderful device.
Any Help will be appreciated !
I am having this SAME EXACT Problem. Is there anyone that can help with this? Perhaps this is more of a widespread issue since I have this same issue as well.
Anyone experience this at all?
I'm with SGS2 and I connect without problems to a WPA2/PSK (AES) WiFi, so the phone should work.
How have you loaded the configuration of the WiFi?
In my case since is hidden, I've added it manually (maybe you could try to do so if you configured automatically). Also check the MAC if you have a MAC Filter (maybe is not included and the phone wont connect).
It should work from stock, so maybe the problem is something in the configuration of the device.
I would really like some help as well... Pls somebody help
Has anyone else tested the USB tethering feature built into the Galaxy S3 SC-06D Docomo ROM version? The Wifi Hotspot seems to work fine (private IP addresses), but the USB tethering uses a 5.x.x.x IP address and the DHCP does not assign a DNS IP address. I have tried to manually enter DNS IP addresses but I may be using the wrong one because it might have to be local to NTT's network.
I never had this problem with USB tethering my SC-02C Galaxy S2.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have more serious problem:
My S3 SC-06D cannot use tethering by the stock ROM. No usb tethering and no wifi tethering.
The thing is, as long as I turn on the tethering, my 3G or H icon would be disappeared.
Weird enough.
