[Q] nero v3 rom download on mac - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I downloaded the nero v3 onto my mac. it didnt download as a .zip it downloaded as a folder. I compresed the file and copied it to my vibrant. I went into ROM manager and reboot to recovery. I tried to install nere_v3_voodoo.zip and my phone froze while installing. What did I do wrong?

I have a mac too, so I think I can help. Macs automatically unzip downloads, but you can keep it from doing that by right clicking the download link and selecting "download linked file." Then it stays zipped.
That should fix your issues. Re-compressing the folder with a mac adds some hidden files I think, which is probably why you ran into problems.

this kept happening to me on my macbook pro. Whenever I compressed it back into a zip, then transferred it to my phone, whenever I tried to flash it i would never get passed installing update, status bar never moved. The solution is easy, download the roms directly to your phone through the xda app or online. Whenever you re compress the package something gets messed up, and it stops at the beginning of the installation.

This isn't true - You don't have to download roms straight to your phone. If you follow the method I explained above (right click - select "download linked file"), the file stays zipped and will flash just fine.
Nothing gets messed up when you re-zip on a mac. The default compiler is simply is adding a "_MACOSX" folder to the zipped package, as well as hidden files pertinent to macs' file system management. If you need your mac to repackage, just use a 3rd party program and not the mac's default and it'll work fine. I use "Compress" when creating themes for my phone and have no problems.

[Q]Help with GingerBlur v2.0 text messaging program[Fixed]

Hey all i just wanted to ask is there any way 2 get the old text messaging program back instead of the one thats installed with this one i liked the stock Antrix one. And i know before u could say yes or no to install it but he changed the install methed and could not do that no more so if any one could help me please do so thanks <3
Well i fixed it i found this

For those like me who need corporate sync and like the blur universal inbox you can install just that portion of the moto bloatware instead of all of it.
** EDIT ** I'm adding a couple more applications now. Please, others jump in to do other applications because I'm out of time working on my Atrix for this week!
** WARNING ** I'm not an android dev and this process has only been tested on my phone. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
There are 3 files attached.
messaging.zip - restores original blur messagine apps, including corporate sync, txt messaging with balloon conversation mode, and the universal inbox. It does not have the messaging widget.
taskman.zip - if you liked moto's Task Manager app, this will restore it for you so you can kill tasks and uninstall like before GB.
gallery.zip - restores the moto Medial Gallery application. Note the GB version of Gallery will still exist and both will work.
Quick instructions:
* You will need CWM Recovery for this
* Follow CWM instructions exactly - especially the part about plugging into the AC adapter or it won't work!
**NOTE** this will also install the original blur txt messaging interface with the conversation balloon mode. Its all one application so no way around it that I know of.
1) copy one of the zip files (attached) to your sdcard root directory
2) run CWM according to instructions in its thread
3) after reboot into CWM select "Install zip from SDCARD"
4) select "Choose zip from internal sdcard"
5) scroll down to the zip file name (ex: messaging.zip)
6) select the file (power button) and run the update
7) go back to main menu and select "Reboot system now"
A few steps but doesn't take long. I just pulled these out of the gingerblur-bloatware.zip and figured out what file structure you have to leave in place for it to function.
Hope this will save people some time.

I think there's a bloatware restorer on the greyblur site. Try that.
Will that install it all back tho or will i be able to pic
well ill look at it and see if it can do only one thing
thanks i forgot about that
Alright so i found them in the files there how do i delete the new one and get this old one back on there? im so confused help!
Still have not figured it out some one help?
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/d...-reinstall-deleted-system-apps-bloatware.html
That thread helped me how 2 install the files but i cant install them it tells me
Application not installed any clue how 2 fix this and remove the old one some thing? any one?
You need to download the messaging bloatware zip, reboot into recoverymode and use CWM to install that zip file... It's the same process as installing grey/gingerblur.
Well if i new where the messaging bloatware zip was i would try 2 get that
i know they have the full one with everything but is there one with only the messaging part? or some thing like that?
Well i tryed 2 just install the messager part and i soft bricked my phone just fixed that but still dont have the old messaging system
Go to the android development section and find the gingerblur thread (it shouldn't be difficult). Then go to the gingerblur website given in the thread and download the bloatware.zip. you will also need tenfars cwm recovery which is in the development section also. Then just flash the zip file using the cwm recovery guide. Make sure your phone is plugged into a wall outlet charger when you do this (not a computer USB port) or it won't work.

read this post. It explains how to do the opposite of what you want.
Summary:
-rename mms.apk to mms.apk.bak
-rename conversations.apk.bak back to converstaions.apk

DX2 Flash 10.3 / Hulu Fix

HULU FLASH 10.3 PERMANENT FIX
First off thanks to redvexx over at the Epic XDA 4G Forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153196 from whose flashable zip file I extracted the files and from his explanation of what his zip update does figured out how we can accomplish the fix manually. He also gives credit to imneveralOne for the foundation of his own work. Many thanks to them both!!
The fix redvexx has posted at the above link is meant to be flashed, which I tried doing using our System Recovery and Android recovery without success. After much trial and error this is what I did on my phone to get Hulu to work using Dolphin HD or Boat Mini browser; I am not responsible for what happens on your phone. And in all fairness and full disclosure I AM A SERIOUS NOOB here and this is my 1st “I did this so can you post”… if anyone can create a “cleaner” way to do this for god’s sake go for it…lol
You must have BusyBox installed (I recommend ver 1.18.2 or lower because at some point you’re gonna try one of zeppelinrox’s great scripts and that’s what he recommends and what I’ve got installed and it works)
** When renaming or creating files and folders leave off the “_” marks**
- Install Adobe Flash 10.3 from the market and make sure auto update is DISABLED
- In your Browser (I think Dolphin HD works best) you must change the UA setting to Desktop and I recommend setting “enable plug-ins” to “always on” but not sure if that is strictly required
- Create the folder “flash” in /data (as in /data/flash)
- Download the attached “DX2_GB_Hulu_Flash10.3_fix.zip” file to your phone and extract the 5 files it contains
- Copy or Move “s98fixflash.sh.txt” to /mnt/sdcard, then rename “s98fixflash.sh” (remove the .txt)
- Copy or Move “libflashplayer.so” “libstagefright_froyo.so” “libstagefright_honeycomb.so” and “libysshared.so” to the /data/flash folder you should have already created
- Using Script Manager open “s98fixflash.sh”, check “Run as Root” and “Run at Boot” then click save.
- Reboot and and you should be able to enjoy Hulu in your browser without having to pay for a VIP subscription (you will not be able to watch VIP content only the free content). Most people seem to have smoother video using a setting of 288 in Hulu; mine seems to work fine set at 360.
What does the fix do? Well, from what I understand and have read Flash 10.3 recopies the files located in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib during each boot-up; wiping out any fix that may have been in place. The “s98fixflash.sh” script copies the “fixed” files saved in the flash folder back to the /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib (after Flash 10.3 does it's copy during boot-up) during each boot-up thus putting the fix back on every boot-up. (or I could be totally wrong and just got lucky; see NOOB admission above...)
Of course to undo this (say if it gets in the way of any future GB update) all you need do is delete or change the name of “s98fixflash”; script doesn’t run, files aren’t replaced, it’s like it never happened because, well, it didn’t…lol
In closing i hope I've done well with my 1st post and some of you folks find it useful. But if I've made a mess of it my apologies in advance.

[Q] My droid does not support any file format?!?!

Hi,
I am using a Samsung Galaxy 3 with android 2.2 and I want to install some application what is downloadad from many different sources.
I have red many questions about this issue but could not find a solution to solve it.
So now here is my problem:
1. I copy the choosen .apk file on my SD card.
2. I have downloaded ASTRO file manager.
3. I have ticked the option installing non-android applications.
4. I want to open the apk file from there but when I click on app installer I onyle get a blank screen and under the details I receive the following error message:
Could not open xy.apk as APK file.
I am really going mad now I have reading forums for ages.
Please help!!!
Thanks
In the meantime I have also copied some music files on my mobile, these are all MP3, works fine on my comp however when I wanted to play it on my mobile with several music players it said the file format is not supported...
Something is really messed up here...
The phone used to have 2.1 and I made the update manually but after the update I am having these kind of problems...
Re-flash stock
Re-Flash stock rom through ODIN
This might solve it.
I think you are a little bit late.

Try using an Apk installer off the market.
You can find many different apk installers off the market. Try Easy Installer or Apk Installer.
Agreed. This thread was long dead. His main issue is that he was using a clone device. Not a real S3

[Q] Clock app not working, need a clockpackage.apk and .odex file

My 4.0 player with stock ROM 2.3.5 stock Clock application doesn't run anymore. Not sure why, but it just says "The application Clock (process com.sec.android.app.clockpackage) has stopped unexpectedly. Try again." This happens whenever I run it.
Could someone upload a clockpackage.apk and clockpackage.odex from the /system/apps directory from their stock ROM so I could see if that fixes it?
Thanks.

Yea, I tried that already, but it doesn't have any effect.
I notice that my clockpackage.apk does not have a corresponding clockpackage.odex file while almost all the other .apk do have a corresponding .odex. Hence I thought I'd ask for a .odex as well. Perhaps my .apk is corrupt? Or maybe another installed app is preventing Clock from working? I'm not sure.
Hey guys. I am also in the same boat as the OP. What do I do in order to fix this? This started happening after used Odin 8.15 to reflash back to the original stock firmware using this file "package_us2.3.5.tar.md5" I am using a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 YP-G1 Model
Please help.
Hi Kwipper,
I'm the OP. I just wanted to say that I also restored from a bad flash using a downloaded package_us2.3.5.tar.md5. I guess that ROM has some problem with the clock package. Maybe we could find another stock ROM to flash and this might fix it?
Frustrating thing is that I actually saved off my ROM using clockwork mod backup before things got messed up and I had to flash package_us2.3.5.tar.md5. But I can't flash my original using ODIN because the backup is somehow not valid or I can't get it into the .md5 format using Windows-only tools.
Hi! (first post here)
I also had the exact same problem after flashing package_us2.3.5.tar.md5 but even after downloading and installing a new cloackpackage I could open it but still cound't create an alarm as it would force close with the same message as the OP.

1. I don't think there is a simple way to convert a CWM backup into an Odin flash.
2. The .md5 extension only indicates that there is a built in MD5 sum in the file that Odin can use to check the integrity of the file before flashing it. It is not necessary, you can simply use just a tar ball.
3. I'm attaching my clockpackage.apk and .odex from my stock 5.0 files. I don't see any reason why they would be different between the 5.0 and 4.0. Hope it helps...

I tried using the file you just posted.
1.) I copied the files to the root of my device
2.) Then I used Root Explorer to navigate to those files under /sdcard
3.) I copied both of the files into the system/app directory (changing the permissions to r/w for that directory)
4.) Only clockpackage.apk needed to be overwritten. There was no original clockpackage.odex, so it just pasted into the directory just fine.
5.) I powered off my device and restarted my device.
And the result was the clock application was completely gone from my app folder. I don't think your YP-G70 clockpackage.apk & clockpackage.odex compatible with the YP-G1 devices.
I also decided to do some exploring on the package_us2.3.5.tar. That is supposedly the official firmware for the YP-G1 devices. I decided to extract the file (using 7zip) and look at the "factoryfs.rfs" inside of it using (UltraISO). I noticed that inside of the factoryfs.rfs file in the APP folder there was no clockpackage.odex.
I decided to compare this with the official firmware for the YP-G70 device and do the same thing, and I noticed that both the clockpackage.odex and the clockpackage.apk files are inside that firmware.
I think the reason why we are having errors on the clockpagage.apk on our YP-G1 devices is because when we restore the original firmware, it gets restored without clockpackage.odex, because it is not within the original firmware to begin with. I have a feeling that the original firmware for our device is corrupted (or at least it's missing that clockpackage.odex file).
I am new to this community and using android, but this is what I have observed thus far. Go easy on me if I am wrong. I am new. =)

Sorry, my memory wasn't correct. I had made the backup using the instructions in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412875
I then tar'ed it using some old MKS tar program I had on my Windows PC. But I think ODIN didn't like it.
I guess I can find a copy of Linux around here and use a more appropriate tar and md5sum to make something ODIN will like, or maybe heimdall would work.
Hey logo20heli. I was wondering. With the backup you made. Can you use 7zip to extract it? If so, do that. There should be a file named factoryfs.rfs.
Then download another program called UltraISO and use it to browse the contents of the factoryfs.rfs file. You should be able to navigate to the /app directory and extract both the Clockpackage.apk and Clockpackage.odex files. If they exist.
If you can do this, upload those files here.
Ok, I took the alarm clock from a fascinate rom and it does work, the alarm too. There is no .odex file attached.
Here's the clockpackage.apk and clockpackage.odex file from the backup that I mentioned earlier that I took. I was able to extract them like Kwipper suggested and replaced them using his instructions and now my clock is working correctly. Yea!
I wonder what else is wrong with that "package_us2.3.5.tar.md5" that is posted. We know the clockpackage was wrong.
I still wish I could make a flashable ODIN file from my backup, so I could restore it. But when I tried it, it just fails.
Thanks for your suggestions Kwipper.
Yer welcome! I don't think I have enough points to create a thread about this. I will do some more investigation on this after I finish this post. I will post my results here.

1.) Booted into Android Systme Recovery. (PWR + Vol Up)
2.) Performed a Wipe Data/Factory Reset
3.) Performed a wipe cache partition
4.) Rebooted and went into Downloading Mode (PWR + Vol Down)
5.) Ran Odin3 v1.85 and successfully flashed my YP-G1 device using the "package_us2.3.5.tar.md5" file
Everything is now back to defaults. Here are the problems I have found with everything back to the normal defaults.
APPS:
Clockpackage.apk: The application Clock(process com.sec.android.app.clockpackage) has stopped unexpectedly. Try again
WIDGETS:
It would seem the following widgets from Samsung do not load.
Calendar: Problem loading widget
Clock: Problem loading widget
Days: Problem loading widget | The application TwLauncher(process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly. Try again
Dual Clock: Problem loading widget
Program Monitor: Problem loading widget | The application TwLauncher(process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly. Try again
It would seem all of the Android Widgets work fine.
This is what I have observed so far from restoring from the native "package_us2.3.5.tar.md5". I think this firmware file may be corrupt.
I am going to try and install the clockpackage files that were just posted and I'll let you know if it fixes anything.
---------- Post added at 11:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:18 PM ----------
Well as expected it DOES fix the issue with the clockpackage. The problems with the widgets still remain. At least we officially know that this version of "package_us2.3.5.tar.md5" is corrupt (or it could be a poorly modified version). I wonder if we should report this to the rest of the fourm that the so-called official firmware for the YP-G1 models is corrupted.

[Q] Bluetooth cant be activated

Hey,
I cannot activate my Bluetooth, when I try to do so (via settings), it says "Turning on" for a couple of seconds but nothing happens. Rebooting doesnt help.
My Ace is running Cyanogenmod-7-201204119-NIGHTLY-cooper
with Kernel: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL562111
Any idea how i cant solve that problem?
Thanks in advance!
Try a full wipe,,
If that doesn't work, reflash the ROM or go fr some other ROM
There are many good unofficial CM7 ROMs out there by some awesome developers just try one of those Why do you want to go for the official buggy CM7 ??????
I'd recommend you to use the ROM of my signature, Miracle V3 which will soon release V4.
Its awesome!
Fast, stable and haven't seen any bug.
I will try Miracle V3... Nightly was more or less "just another try".
Firstly thought that the official CM7 is quite good, but doesnt seem so
At least i've something to do right now
Now I'm using Miracle V3. I'm quite happy so far, but i need to install some stock apps (email, gallery, sms) but I'm just too stupid to do so. I've downloaded the rar from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583871 and unpacked it on my pc. Afterwards I copied some onto my sd-card. Via ES-Filemanager I opened the .apk files and tried to install it. But when it should finish it just says: "Application not installed"...
Permissions of the files are rw. Any help?
