Hi,
I am using a Samsung Galaxy 3 with android 2.2 and I want to install some application what is downloadad from many different sources.
I have red many questions about this issue but could not find a solution to solve it.
So now here is my problem:
1. I copy the choosen .apk file on my SD card.
2. I have downloaded ASTRO file manager.
3. I have ticked the option installing non-android applications.
4. I want to open the apk file from there but when I click on app installer I onyle get a blank screen and under the details I receive the following error message:
Could not open xy.apk as APK file.
I am really going mad now I have reading forums for ages.
Please help!!!
Thanks
In the meantime I have also copied some music files on my mobile, these are all MP3, works fine on my comp however when I wanted to play it on my mobile with several music players it said the file format is not supported...
Something is really messed up here...
The phone used to have 2.1 and I made the update manually but after the update I am having these kind of problems...
Re-flash stock
Re-Flash stock rom through ODIN
This might solve it.
I think you are a little bit late.

Try using an Apk installer off the market.
You can find many different apk installers off the market. Try Easy Installer or Apk Installer.
Agreed. This thread was long dead. His main issue is that he was using a clone device. Not a real S3

Hello,
Not sure if this the correct forum to post this. If it should not be here, let me know the correct forum.
I read on several different XDA threads of DSP managers installed in Droid, HTC desire. I followed what they did.
First off, I have a rooted vibrant running android 2.1 JI6 updated.
I unzip the zip file posted in the threads, extracted the DSP manager apk file and replaced the libaudioflinger.so file in the system/lib folder. But when I clicked install it gave me a parsing error. I tried different DSP manager apk file posted in different XDA threads and it all gave me the same parse error - "there is a problem parsing the package."
I searched XDA for causes of parsing error, one thread said that the file is corrupted. I tried 3 different DSP manager apk from different threads. it all gave me a the same parsing error. This would elliminate the cause that it is a corrupted file.
I tried installing it with a 3rd party app installer and the linda file app manager, it still gave me the same parse error.
Any ideas how to fix this? I really want to try the dsp manager apk
Thanks...
yeah Ive been getting that problem on my HTC Desire Z lately, everytime I put an apk file on my sd card, then when i disconnect my phone from the pc, go into my sd card and try to install it from there, it says that error, really is pissing me off
i THINK its a SD card issue... because when i was running a rom (forgot name) with a SD card issue i would get that problem all the time, but soon as i flashed a new one, nero, it fixed it all... idk if this is the cause for everyone, but it fixed mine. try it?

[email protected] I have a feeling that was a auto-correct issue?
I googled "problem parsing the package" and found this thread, I doubt it is a coincidence that I happen to have a vibrant.. the thread starter and I have one thing in common, we tried pulling a file out of a package(a very recently released rom). In my case, it is a youtube apk that allows you to download.. tried on my nook color and it just gives me a install not completed.
Hate digging up old threads less than I hate having someone tell me to "use the search" so here I am. Curious though since I have had this issue before with a vibrant(a different one), and on multiple roms, but I have had plenty of successes pulling out of rom packages.. is there something they've done to make it only work with the rom? I put the file in the system folder and gave it proper permissions, so I know it isn't that..
App Compability
I'm wondering if i can install some ics only apps... like chrome... is there a mod for this? because it will give gb/unofficial cm9 a parse error
I'm giving thanks to those who have a solution (eventhough it didn't work)
parsing error very easy to fix
PARSING ERROR ??? if u are swap the external to sdcard dont put the game or file that u have downloaded on sdcard or microSD always on PHONE STORAGE and INTALL THE FILE or GAME>>>>LOL

I downloaded the nero v3 onto my mac. it didnt download as a .zip it downloaded as a folder. I compresed the file and copied it to my vibrant. I went into ROM manager and reboot to recovery. I tried to install nere_v3_voodoo.zip and my phone froze while installing. What did I do wrong?
I have a mac too, so I think I can help. Macs automatically unzip downloads, but you can keep it from doing that by right clicking the download link and selecting "download linked file." Then it stays zipped.
That should fix your issues. Re-compressing the folder with a mac adds some hidden files I think, which is probably why you ran into problems.

this kept happening to me on my macbook pro. Whenever I compressed it back into a zip, then transferred it to my phone, whenever I tried to flash it i would never get passed installing update, status bar never moved. The solution is easy, download the roms directly to your phone through the xda app or online. Whenever you re compress the package something gets messed up, and it stops at the beginning of the installation.

This isn't true - You don't have to download roms straight to your phone. If you follow the method I explained above (right click - select "download linked file"), the file stays zipped and will flash just fine.
Nothing gets messed up when you re-zip on a mac. The default compiler is simply is adding a "_MACOSX" folder to the zipped package, as well as hidden files pertinent to macs' file system management. If you need your mac to repackage, just use a 3rd party program and not the mac's default and it'll work fine. I use "Compress" when creating themes for my phone and have no problems.
So i have finally rooted my phone through CF Auto root method, and im happy i can access anything on the phone.
first thing i wanted to do is get rid of the samsung Keyboard, as it got stuck to being default after every restart.
So got into /system/apps/samsungIME.apk and removed it. I use ES file explorer with root access.
Job done, now i have the smart keyboard pro on and happy with it
Lets say i want to reinstall the SamsungIME.apk
reinstalling it is not a go im afraid. If i try to reinstall it from my ext.Sdcard, it says installation failed
If i copy and paste it in the same folder, it says: parsing error, unable to extract or something.
So my question following quite a bit of search is : in general, when trying to reinstall samsung apps, will this occur all the time?
Do i have to do something in addition to get it to work?
i saw someone mention in a different thread (I9100 i think) about chaning something in the build prop which i couldnt find anyway, and others talking about permissions
With ESfile explorer, i havent found the 'permissions' aspect of things, as all i have to do is allow ES to enter the root explorer through SU and then i dont get any other question about allowing permsissions to save/install and application.
many thanks and please excuse me if my questions are very childish for experiences users, as this is the first time i have entered this field!

Reinstalling ANY SYSTEM APK would mean that you would have to push it to the system. Here is a YouTube video on how to do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJGbiSkom9M
If you are interested to download again the stock app, I have uploaded all the stock apps in mediafire. check my sig if you are interested
Many thanks. Will check asap!

Looking at the video, es file explorer does something similar, but it hasnr worked. Does this mean I have to buy the root explorer software?
Edit: I just downloaded root explorer and saved the apk according to the info. Keyboard hasn't installed though. I wonder if I have to tranfer the obex file as well
Edit 2: transfered the obex file as well, still didn't install. I can see the apk in there but its not installing.
And to finish this, I did excactly the same with the obex file and it worked. My samsung keyboard is back so again
MANY THANKS!

I guess it's called "Richnote." I'm wondering if someone could export that APK and upload it somewhere so that I can try and get it running on a Galaxy S4. I found http://koolwap.in/games_app/dld.php...ba/comlgeapprichnote-30200111-v32.htm&ext=apk, but the phone just says "application not installed." I have a notes backup from an old E970 that I'd like to view, but I obviously can't with the GS4 (the format is .rnt, whatever that is), and I don't have any other LG device to view them from.
Here it is.
I extracted the app from my phone using Stock 4.1.2
Its called Rich Note
Here is the
PHP:
link
I have this one. Copy to system app and set permissions. Doesn't work with kitkat in ART mode.
https://app.box.com/s/qfxao2m9rcctp2b03eom
Thanks guys!
Unfortunately, for both of those APKs, the phone just says application not installed.
It won't install as a normal app. You need to copy it with a root explorer to system apps, set permissions and reboot.

Try this app it opens the notes I made with the lg notebook app.

That probably explains it. The phone currently isn't rooted.
Regarding Perfect Viewer, it's unable to find the "backup.rnt" file that Richnote made during the export, even if I tell something like ES File Explorer to open that file with Perfect Viewer.
So there's no way to install that app without rooting?
So I rooted, copied one of the two APKs that were posted here into /system/app, changed the permissions to match the other APKs that I saw, rebooted, and nothing new showed up. Do these APKs need a matching OPEX file? Both of the Richnote APKs do this.

The one I posted shows up as "notebook" in app drawer and it doesn't have an odex file. Not sure if that would keep it from working on an odexd ROM. It is a modded apk. and I am pretty sure I found in a Samsung forum.
Oh...and googling .rnt it says it is files for CNC machines, but there are some free programs to open them.

Ah... I'm really confused, then. I tried putting some random APKs in /system/app and they ended up showing up after a reboot, so I'm not sure what's happening with the APKs that you guys posted.
I might just go to a T-Mobile store to open up my Richnotes backup and email all of the text to myself.
This is where I got it from downloaded the zip and pulled app from it. Does it look like the same note app you are trying to get?

I'm not sure what it looked like before (I barely used the phone), but I don't think that that's it.
I think I skipped out on your APK (the first two that I mentioned, one was from Alex_XV6700, the second was RichNote_a003.apk from a stock AT&T ROM for the E970). I put it in /system/apps, and the app works, but it's a different app overall, unfortunately. Thanks anyway.
I think the idea of going to a store to get the notes would be the easiest.
Hello
First of all I want to say that I use BLISS OS x86 7.1.2 system on the mini pc Alfawise X5
then extract a LAUNCHER.apk from the GEMBOX F500 device at this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692843&page=69
but I can not install it because I have the error "app not installed the package conflicts with an existing package". The problem is that this launcher has never been installed on my device, this error occurs with other applications that were made exclusively for satelite android receivers of my country, already tried to install and the same error occurs, but they were never installed on my device, someone knows the can I do to install LAUNCHERf500.apk ??????
Sorry for my english I'm using google translate, thanks for the attention !!
Decompile the apk and change its package name in the Android manifest
Or
Use an app cloner that might be able to do it for you
However doing this may cause problems eg some features may not work or app may force close
You can also find out what the package name is & try uninstalling it via adb so you can install the apk with the same package name
Also Iv no idea why you have posted this in the mx player xda section as it's nothing to do with it so I'll get it moved

I already did this but did not install apk
I already cloned, and changed the package name.
is there a lock, or a way of knowing that apk is being installed on hardware other than GEMBOX F500 ???
Can I change the application to install on my device?
or changing Build.prop ??
Sorry for posting in the wrong place, I'm not familiar with the site

Since it's a launcher I assume you are rooted and placing the apk in system/priv-app (system/app if pre lollipop) and giving it the correct permissions then restarting the device
Some launchers are only designed to work on certain devices & would require porting to work on others
Anyway - best to actually post in your device forum or the general if your device does not have its own forum
Iv asked the mods to move this as it has nothing to do with mx player
