Does anyone has any idea what does this means? and what does the procedure involves? any simple tutorial?

only thing i know about our bootloader is that it cannot be cracked(a secured type) if somebody or someone is willing to mess their mini or mini pro on cracking the bootloader let the lord have praise on him/her

The thing is that SE's bootloader is not like htc's, where you can interact with it somehow with adb and fastboot and stuff, SE's doesn't even have a normal recovery going around, so we can't replace it, since we don't know how it works. At least that is the conclusion i came to (sorry for assuming **** and everything, if someone knows something, please, wikileak us)

so how come x10 got 2.2 custom rom?
well the big x10's android stucture is similar to that of an HTC mobile larger screen similar hardware features etc so they improted the work of HTC mobile to x10 in trial and error method

Simply, the answer is xRecovery... Even Mini/pro is capable of custom ROMs now. But because the bootloader is still uncracked, we can only replace the system, not kernel and drivers.

We just need someone who'd port the 2.2 or 2.3 .. It's not an easy work though
Look we can start we making our port from models which share the same processor!!! For example htc legend!!! what do you say people??? Are you with me???
First step set our kitchen right???

;-) We have kitchens
yup i am also ready to work for this just need some basic help
we need to do it on our own since SE abandoned the sinking ship...
Just smash your device to the ground ceiling or wall just what you prefer and there you go your bootloader is cracked
You should try it ;-)

Thats a great idea.........If you got enough money to buy another Smart Phone....
for me i would rather put it in a hydraulic press and crush it
I like my phone, so i would not even hurt it... Better way is to crack the bootloader.
And if it cannot be cracked, at least we can try to port some useful things from 2.2 and make ourself the dualtouch.
SE software is anyhow of no use. It´s SE hardware, Android and 3rd party software, that makes this phone the good choice.
No more updates from SE needed and for me even not wanted.
You don't seem to understand, we can't get dual touch without cracking the bootloader!! We need to crack it to change the drivers, since the ones that are installed now do not implement dual touch support. As it is now, either we crack the thing, or we wait for the se update, there are no alternatives... Well, maybe find away to change kernels without having to break the bootloader but hell, I don't know...

meh replacing kernel without cracking bootloader...
that would be my only wish...
but for sure i never comes true coz bootloader needs to get cracked
i dont know this for sure
but i think its a kind of the iphone chain of trust
the bootloader checks the kernel if its original
if not i wont go any further
so we need to break this chain in the begin by cracking the bootloader so it wont check
i dont know this for sure but i think it works like that

As there's no separate device page for our mini X10's, lets discuss it here instead.
Obviously X10i and E10i hardware is totally different and thus we can't use roms or anything from the "bigger" phone.
For now the Android 1.6 is almost usable on it, but I frankly hate the sony customizations and totally unusable text-entry and phone-dialer apps ..
A clean 1.6/2.1 ROM with HTC Sense would make me much happier.
But for now at least I'd like to solve the fonts problem, i.e. after getting phone rooted, installing custom fonts should be easy.
Anyone done that so far?
Please share your thoughts.

There is two ways of buying a phone
1. By the looks
2. By the insides
If you want both, the easiest is to take the looks and buy what you like to look at, and then make the insides as you want afterwards.
When android gives us the posiblity (after root access to bootloader level) to make an X10 look like an HTC on the inside, why would anyone ever buy an HTC phone?

It's quite easy to replace the keyboard and phone dialer on the E10i without rooting the phone. I would love to root my E10i as well but I would also like to keep the text input. I find the T9 style text input to be perfect on this phone because of the small size. I downloaded a bigger keyboard from the market to try out but I quickly switched back. T9 was just much better suited for this phone. I also downloaded a new dialer but it wasn't built for the small screen so it didn't look good.
Btw, what's this font problem you speak of?
Root need for x10 mini
any idea when rooting for X10 mini? Did developers working on that... eagerly waiting to root this device.
Well that's the big question in'it, are any devs even workin on root for the E10i, eh?

True, you can replace keyboard, dialer and launcher.
I am using custom HTC-type keyboard (smart keyboard), and launcher (Zeam) that looks like a normal android, not "one widget per screen" type.
For emails I use K-9, and WiFi Manager to auto-setup wifi connections.
Fancy Widget for main screen weather and alarm access.
So far the problems I have encountered :
1. bluetooth connection to car radio is broken (calls can be made, but sound quality is terrible with noise) -- had same problem with HTC Hero on Android 1.5, solved by installing Android 2.1
2. WiFi won't stay up over 1 hour, after 60min it always disconnects, so SIP phone has problems getting calls in -- was also the same on HTC Hero, again, solved by 2.1 upgrade
3. I really miss the HTC Contact list and Dialer, built in one is useless, even the android standard one would be much better, but can't be installed
4. AirVoice can't be used without root (call recording app, very useful)
5. Overall response times could be better with optimized kernel, battery life is far from perfect

Anyway, i own a SE X10 Mini and i'd like to see a separate section for this phone (and for X10 mini pro) like there is a separate section for htc hd mini or htc wildfire (that seems to be desire mini). Is it possible? This way people will be able to post in the appropriate place. Thanks Mods.

I have my X10 Un-sim'd at the moment and am using another phone.
I mean hey, It's still runs Torque which is why I bought an Android phone to begin with.
overclocking, custom kernels, 16 mil colors..... just to name a few
What will be possible? Pretty much anything.
At the moment the biggest issue is the inability to change the kernel, so much is controlled this way. A cracked bootloader opens the path for custom kernels and that is what will make the biggest difference.
Cool, lets hope that everyone thats involved in cracking it will have as soon as possible succes with it!
For us with currently unlockable bootloaders (branded phones), will removing the sim-lock give us the option to unlock the bootloader?
No
That was a definitive answer. Strange, cause I know people with unlockable bootloaders in their Arcs and Rays have managed to unlock them.

Currently there is no way to root without unlocking the bootloader, it will probably come at some point, but not now .
There is no drawback to unlocking your bootloader though, as they will still probably accept your device for warranty, unless you fry your phone with overclocking and such.
But yea, branded phones cant be unlocked at this moment, or well, they haven't figured it out yet. So if you are branded you can't even unlock your bootloader...yet . Give it time, everything will be figured out in time .

I am under the impression that selling it in the Canadian Sony store means it will not be branded for any carrier, since they'll be offering the phone unlocked. Probably even if they offer it on contract with a carrier like Rogers, it would still be unlocked, but just subsidized with your contract plan.
edit: They did say that the phone is exclusively with the Sony Store in Canada, so you can't get it straight from Rogers anyways, so no worries!
If there is brand in rogers, I am pretty sure they will lock the bootloader just like they did in xperia arc

Bought mine from the sony store locked to rogers. I can confirm that the bootloader are in fact locked. Bought mine at launch early tuesday morning.(12th)
They currently only sell XpS's locked to rogers. They unfortunately don't sell the unbranded version(/unlocked). They were also surprised by this fact apparently.
BTW the rogers bloatware that came with the device is annoying as hell. If you're going to buy on frim the Sony store in canada. Debranding would be the first thing I would suggest to do. Seeing as rooting or custom roming is out of the question.

Have to admit that i'm a little disappointed i got my phone as soon as it was released on my neywork.
That was before the information came to light, that branded fw's have their bootloaders locked.
Had i known that BEFORE i took the plunge, i would have upgraded via a third party mobile phone shop.
I am even more disappointed to see custom roms and tweaks coming out, only to find myself unable to go anywhere near them. Grrrr!
I have de-branded my Xps but i still have the bloat-crap on it. Which is now filling the ten whole spaces in my main menu.
I have been checking on here everyday hoping for a root solution and also on the omnius and setool sites but still i am without a solution :-( and my biggest concern of all is...
As most the devs and rom chefs have unlocked bootloaders, that means hardly anyone (if anyone) will be working on a solution. Double :-(

I hear you bro
Don't worry, it will come
I have faith in this community that something will be figured out. A few weeks ago it wasn't even possible to flash custom kernels and such, and they managed to figure it out. Now that things are flowing nicely, the rom developers have started working on making things again, and maybe there's more things being looked into in terms of rooting.
I've been here since my X1 and the community hasn't let me down yet, I'm confident they will find a way to get a root, and probably (given the speed even a tester CM9 came out) before ICS.
I guess you might have wait for those paid software like setool .... It will be like the same case like xperia arc. Rogers or any branded phone do not allow bootloader unlock.

Interesting... I'm a bit skeptical though...

Yeah, I can't take the plunge and use this phone as my daily driver. Not with Timescape (or whatever you call the Sony UI). I want to be able to use AOSP apps. What I hate is when the UI elements creep over when you're using an app (stuff like checkboxes) and it just makes the overall experience feel inconsistant.
I have since buying the phone debranded it and flashed the singpore rom, and it does a good job at eliminating bloatware, but I want to go in deeper and install CM9 whenever that's ready.

If you could have done the test point process, I'm sure it would already be posted here. It's quite possible there will be some type of testpoint exploit in the future.. But as of now not the case. I wouldnt suggest messing around inside your phone unless your ready to void your warrenty and at least somewhat know what your doing.
Who knows you could be some secret dev-ninja-genius. ...but then again your asking about screwdriver sizes instead of just eyeballing it like most people would do, so I very much doubt that bro.

I know you were just trying to be mindfull of what happens to my phone and stuff, but if I "eyeballed" the size what good would it do if I don't have a small enough bit to fit the screw? I was able to remove the frearson screws but am missing the torx.
A test point method is still possible (maybe) but the reason that there are no posts about it is that the software used (Omnius, SEtools, etc) is not yet compatible with the XS.
Im toooo interested too, my phone has bootloader blocked for my phone company, so I cant get root or do anything

Hello guys, I know it could sound really weird for you all, but here's my point: I just bought an Xperia Mini on eBay from a user claiming he had received it directly from Sony Ericsson as a free sample. I received it yesterday, it was unpacked and was sold together with the battery charger only. Nothing too strange.
By the way, after about half an hour I realized the phone had a front camera.
Ok, I watched the video and i know I'm a noob on XDA. But I'm no stupid
So don't tell me it's the light/proximity sensor! I wouldn't be here! It's a working front camera, since I can switch between this one and the "normal" one and take pictures. Here is a picture of the phone:
EDIT
Looks like I can't post links, so I'll just skip this step
Anyway, the other strange thing is that the phone comes with Android 2.3.3, build 4.0.A.2.368, and I can't update it. Not directly from the phone, nor using PC Companion. It just keeps saying the software is up to date.
So... have you ever heard of something like this? What should I do?
What is the phone model in the settings?
Model ST15i
I wrote to the seller, and he just answered me: he says that, working for a company that create applications for iOS and Android, they usually get five samples for each model. This is one of those. It could be, as I thought, a sort of "prototype". The thing is: I am grateful for the front camera, but I'd like to be able to get software updates, and this seems impossible. And also, I suppose that updating through "unofficial" ways would take to the impossibility of using the front camera.
i'm thinking of sending it back and buying a new one
I'm really envious right now...
really curious now.. Try adding photo's with the attachments feature !
where are you from?
can you share the link where you buy?
sorry for my bad english
Here's the picture of the phone... I wouldn't be envious at all, anyway. I have a couple of days to understand if I can update the phone, if updating causes the impossibility of using the front camera, and if - even worse - it can cause hardware incompatibilities, crashes, explosions or else. Then I have to decide if I want to send it back or not.
D'oh.

If it was a test product, don't think they will be happy that an Xperia Mini is roaming around in the wild with a front camera. In my opinion if you really want to update, flash a ROM that is made for the Xperia Mini Pro, then you might be able to use the front camera. There is barely any difference between the XMP and XM then the HW keyboard and the Front camera.

What you could do is flash any Rom you want, that is from a Stock Rom. BUT! Always back up your system so that you can go back to it if something goes wrong.

Hello,
Atrix is available in France for 287 euros and I'm thinking it's a very good price/perf ratio.
But having a look on the threads some criticals aspects appears like heat, android GB2.3.4 only, and high brick risk when modding ?
So I'd like to have some atrix users opinions/comments ...
I like the HTC sensation XE too but for now it continues at 450 euros ...
Other phones are good but with some criticals "deffects" like : non removable battery, no sdcard, etc ... so it's not easy to make a choice ...

If you have large hands, then the Atrix will feel like holding a toy. If I were you, I'd wait for a better phone or save that money for something better. Personally, I don't think this phone is worth anything at this point. There's a high chance that the digitizer will break on you. This is my third Atrix and my last two had problems with the digitizer. I personally can't wait for my contract to end so I can get the SGS3 and never come back to Motorola again, ever.
hmmm... thanks !

Keep this in mind also: if this phone were really as bad as some people make it sound, these forums would be absolutely flooded with complaints. The fact that this is not the case should tell you that the Atrix is, overall, a very good, solid, reliable phone. I wouldn't have stuck with mine for so long if it were the flaky, unreliable mess that some people imply that it is.
With motorola's latest move - id caution against getting an Atrix (even though I've owned one for over a year and loved it!) Motorola is now making the Atrix to where you cannot flash .sbf files. This means no unlocking of the bootloader... no re-flashing an .sbf file if you screw something up and need to completely wipe things out and start fresh again (above and beyond a factory reset) You may be better off with an Atrix 2 or something else that's similar.... I hate giving this type of advice.... But, I'd hate to see you pick on up thats locked down tighter than a nun!
The Bionic doesnt use sbf's either. We use FXz which is basically the same thing
I actually bought one 7 days ago. I had hard time unlocking it, but It worked and I have custom bootloader and neutrino rom. That being said - out of the box, there was motoblur (which I find heavily anoying) and it was considerably slower. Now I can easily compare power with my friend, which has stock Galaxy S II, but I paid almost half his price.
Hardware is the best (realy)
Software... ? But XDA is answer!
In my opinion, yes, buy't.
Forum Fandroid in France. Shiro tutorial is the best!

I hate giving this type of advice.... But, I'd hate to see you pick on up thats locked down tighter than a nun!

you can do everything that needs to be done with fastboot, there is no need to use .sbfs / rsd support protocol, reflashing .sbfs to atrix has been discouraged for over a year now, due to being many problems that can occur in the flash process.
Hardware wise it's solid. Software you get Gingerbread now, ICS later. If you unlock the BL, and go the custom route, then you truly have the best of both world in terms or hardware and software...

There are still times when sbf's are necessary - the only reason they were cautioned against is because so many ppl failed to follow directions properly and borked their devices... mainly flashing froyo sbfs over gingerbread.... to those who know what they're doing with sbf's its not a problem. Without sbf capability - you cant unlock the bootloader.... no custom roms.... period.... except a pseudo rom.... which isnt a true ROM.... more like a theme...
