Does anyone know if there is an iGo tip that will work with the G Tablet? Apparently we need a 12V 2A 1.7mm center positive tip, but there is no way to search like that on the iGo site. They only want you to give them a product model number, and they give you the required tip.
Just wondering if anyone has any insight on this.
Thanks
I've got a bunch at home from over the years. I'll see if I can find one that fits.
I took a look at my various connectors I had lying around and it looks like the PSP connector fits. Its the older model PSP and it's center positive like the gtab. I have an iGo as well but my model only goes up to 9V and 1.5A so I can't test, its model 23-1401. Hope that helps.

iGo Netbook Charger in Office Depot Clearance
I found my local Office Depot had the iGo Netbook Charger in the clearance section for $9.99 which contains the 212 tip that fits the G Tablet. I've tested it out and it charges the tablet. It features a USB plug to charge from for other devices.

Such an excellent find for US buyers.
This is the basically the same wall unit selling at it2steve's (+ and additional auto/air cables).
http://electroniccrap.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_12&products_id=4
The least I could find this on ebay was $23 (shipped) the wall version is $16 (shipped).
Just ordered one,
Thank you again,

IGO tip for Viewsonic MORE INFO NEEDED
OK, So I have an old 130w IGO, and the 212 tip only fits the 90w version (I need what is called an S series tip)... anyone figured out which of them it is? I would like to not have another cord and transformer to carry around..
Warning about the iGo 212 tip
According to my digital multimeter the iGo 212 tip is NOT the correct tip to use for our G-tabs. The 212 tip according to the iGo charts is for HP and Compaq laptops and they most likely use 19V DC, which is also what my meter says that tip is outputting.
Our G-tabs require 12V DC and you are seriously going to mess it up by using the iGo 212 tip when it is outputting 19V DC.
My understanding of the iGo system of tips is that the different number tips are "smart" and not only provide the correct size connector, they also allow outputs of different voltages.
The iGo 401 tip on the same adapter outputs 12V DC which is what the Asus eeepc 1000 requires and the 401 tip states it is for the Asus eeepc netbooks. So the iGo adapter IS outputting different voltages when using different iGo tips.
Bottom line: DON'T use the 212 tip for your G-tab. The voltage output is WRONG!
The clearanced iGo that is being sold at Office Depot comes with 4 tips; 212, 207, 206, and 401
212 is 19v and fits
401 is 12v and is to big
206 is 19v and is to big
207 is 10v and is to big
I have run my g-tablet on the 212 for several days with no issues, but now knowing the voltage difference will stop using it.

I have a Targus "Premium Laptop Charger" with interchangeable tips. The tips for my Toshiba laptop and iPhone work great, but I have nothing that is a physical fit for the gTab.
I can order new tips, but Targus attempts to idiot-proof the process by giving tips an arbitrary model number and listing the devices that work with each tip. (Okay, I think it's the other way around - you look up your device and are told what tip to buy. But, moving onward.)
They do not provide polarity or physical dimensions for the tips, so unless one happens to know of another device whose charging socket dimensions and electrical needs are exactly the same as the device one is shopping for - say, the gTablet - one is SOL.
Does anyone happen to know which Targus tip works?
I could use this info as well. I know they have a tip to fit as a few weeks back I was on a out of town businees trip and forgot my charger. A fellow in the meeting with me had a Targus charger and a bag full of tips. I found one that worked fine. So I just went out and picked up one and none of the tips I got fit.
I have the same issue with the web page. It dosent list gtab.

That is pretty unlikely since the cable was ordered custom by Steve (electroniccrap.com). And considering it is less than half the price of the docking station (which is the ONLY other way to get the output) it is not a bad deal.

Not sure there is anything made in china that is exclusive to any one any more.
The cable is available for as low as $20 (pack of 50) and $34 (single purchases) free shipped from China.
I also need to correct you on the math, $30+ shipping @electroniccrap is not less than half the price of the docking station, the fact is the total cost would be very comparable (if not more for international shipments) to the discounted rate for docking station $43.69 shipped world wide (merimobiles with "welcome" discount code)
cool, video does work. Hopefully someone in China posts this up on ebay for alot cheaper. The price for a single cable is still a bit expensive.
This is definitely a unique cable because i can't find another similar cable anywhere.

weird, the replacement adapter (without the interchangeable prongs) are also $40.

Hah, I called them and they said NOT in stock.
LOL.
They said the website will be updated in 3-4 hours with due-in dates.
Too bad.
Yeah, ASUS appears to be lagging on all accessories across the board. I'd be weary of in-stock dates unless it is on the manufacture site itself.
I don't believe that the accessories will ever come out.

Asus should (but probably won't) offer the adapter prongs as an accessory without making us purchase a second power supply. $10-$15 would seem to be a fair price and allow Asus to make a profit. One could always buy non-dedicated travel adapters, but I'd rather pay more and be sure that I won't make a mistake and create a short circuit.

I was all excited when I saw in another post that they say "In Stock" at excalibur PC. So I of course went and ordered a few goodies... And then I read this post.
I will be calling tomorrow... And if I get the "not really in stock" turd burglar response - I'm cancelling my order... It seems pretty clear that they know (and knew) that their site was showing bogus "in stock" information - that they clearly left it there is pure deceit, in my opinion.

It's wonderful as a stationary charge point, expecially since the internals of the Gtablets charging port are starting ot act up. Charging from the dock is so much simpler and reliable.
I've also placed it conveniently next to my TV, to the HDMI runs straght in...add a couple pirated movies (shh) and Rockplayer and I've had some fun filled family movie nights...

No HDMI connection
Got mine yesterday after an "out-of-stock" delay. There is no HDMI connection, I will probably hack mine to see if HDMI is still available when docked. Also ThinkPad Tablet has to be removed from any type of cover/case to fit, very close on the sides and back. Nice power supply and 2 USB connections with the one on the side of the TPT still exposed for a total of three, have not tried to use them (running ICS so my usb connections are pretty much useless right now anyway).
-j
No HDMI is not available when docked.
HDMI not available when docked?
Sadly, you are correct. There is a header for HDMI on the board of the dock but there are enough missing components that it is unlikely that merely adding the connector would enable HDMI. Pretty much makes the dock useless except to quickly charge your TPT. Maybe they are coming out with an updated version which is why these are so cheep, very unlikely, but I can dream. There is also a lot of post production style RF shielding inside this thing; looks like somebody upset the FCC.
Feel free to disassemble yours.
Just did, see my edited post.
Its only $13 today but sadly won't ship to Aus either.
