I live in Houston and I would like for someone to teach me how to "cook", I use OS X, but also have access to windows or Ubuntu. I'm doing research for a school project regarding usability. the idea was to figure out what makes a certain product so great. being a proud owner of a adroid device I thought, why would someone choose android. so what im doing now is a survey to see why people choose Android.

Hi, coming from a student game programmer background, I've also studied about usability during school. From my experience and knowledge, what makes a product so great is that it is easy to pick up (learn) and easy to use. For example, Apple products. With just one or two clicks you get the response that you want.
Here's another example: Angry birds. It's "Great" because it's easy to learn how to play it and the game is also easy to play (can be played without remembering stuffs like numbers in a bank game).
Alright gotta keep this brief. I'm new here. I took a high school class in game and website development last year (Ya my resume beats anyone's here[extreme sarcasm])… pretty much forgot all I learned.
Now I'm sitting here with my phone...and the program AIDE, and downloading every single android game to date is a drag.
So...I want to make some games.
3 questions.
Am I in way over my head here?
Even with drop box, am I going to need a computer? (Because I don't have one)
If I'm not one of a billion idiots who makes a crap app for 99 cents no one will ever buy...where do I start?

I hope you know how to program in Java (I'm guessing you do, since you said you took a class).
You'd be more productive if you use a computer. Sure you can program using AIDE but what about making the images and the music? It might be possible to even do that on your phone to an extent, but if you really want to make something that is great and polished you'd be able to do it better on a computer. It need not be a beast of a machine. Any old machine would be better than doing it on your phone.
If you really want to look like you aren't a part of the group of the "billion idiots who makes a crap app for 99 cents no one will ever buy", start by getting an actual machine where you can seriously sit and work.
Learn OpenGL ES. Or learn to use a game engine for Android.
Then come up with ideas for a game. Then narrow down to the idea you think holds the most potential. Make a prototype. Try it out and make others try it to see if it is actually any fun. If yes, then work on it and complete it. If no, then switch to another idea.

Brand newbie here trying to get temp root to get wifi tether working.

i have a great idea for an android app (i'm sure you've heard that before!). but really, it's intriguing enough for me to consider either pitching to a programmer OR learning myself. i don't know how important just having the idea/funding is vs. doing it myself. plus there is always the issue of someone stealing your idea if you hire an outside programmer. thoughts?
if you want to earn money then idea, if you want customer satisfaction then programming
how do you go about finding someone to program that you can trust and won't steal your idea? there are thousand of apps out there, surely someone has done this.
ok so ive always thought of myself as a tech savvy person, i mean come on i use to own a cell phone and pager company. so when i mad the dissension to root my phone i thought "no big deal, do lots of reading follow the simple steps and Google what ever else i need to know." well i wish i would of kept to that plan! first i didn't make a copy of my phone before i started so im sure you guys know all the problems that comes along with that more than i do.
second i live out of town with no internet connection so that means im stuck looking for info and trying to fix my phone from my office at work... needless to say i have accomplished nothing at work for a week now...
and third almost all of the info on the web is all based on using a pc, om a mac user...
so im asking for this... will someone anyone who knows what they are doing please be willing to take the time and talk to me over the phone pretty much just to help be get a better understanding of what i really need to do... i have Heimdall and a few roms and gapps already installed on my computer and im thinking this should be something we could handle fairly quick...
i work from 3pm to 11pm mon-fri standard pacific time and would have the biggest block of free time after 7 and before 10
